This book starts a warrior quest rewarding a class-specific trinket, the Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas. A class book can randomly drop from any boss in Dire Maul or can be contained in the Dusty Tome at the end of Dire Maul North.

Upon accepting the quest, Codex of Defense, players must return the book to Shen'dralar Lorekeeper Kildrath, located in the Athenaeum of Dire Maul. The Athanaeum is an underground library that is most easily accessed via Dire Maul North, though can be reached at the end of Dire Maul West, as well. Both paths will require the Crescent Key to enter.

This item will drop again if you have already completed the quest. I assume the same is true for the other class items.

Just got this also, the quest is listed in being in Dire Maul, so I'm sure the person you have to deliver it to is behind one of the locked door instances.

Nets you a trinket that has +10 fire resist, and +200 armour. You can drop the quest in the corner of the Elven area of the Western instance (Elemental area)

He's in the hardest instance, theres a courtyard and to the north there are 3 ways to go, the middle goes down to him. All you need to fight are a few lvl 59 elite trees to get to him.

Uhh,

+ 10 fire resist and + 200 ac is not weak and is meant for MC. You need all the ac and fire resist you can get for that place.

I plan on getting this and definitely will use.

The book is a random drop in DM.

Completing this is EXTREMELY easy, and can actually be done SOLO without killing a SINGLE mob.

Go into DM north.
go down Ramp.
To to the hallway to the left.
Turn the book in.

Receive reward.

Just bought the book for 55g

200 armor and 10 fire resist is definitly good for tanking in MC...

However i wouldn't see myself paying very much more than 55g for it because my trinket spots are pretty full with my lifestone and many other good trinkets.

well, my tank paid 10g for this on the gurubashi server, and I solo'd this quest with him, just waiting to avoid the patrol, and jumping off of the ramp onto the wall's edge and running to the door, thru the tunnel and into the library area.

the +200 arm and the +10 fire resist are a must for MC, and I think i got a great deal for 10g

This quest can be done at 54 with the assistance from a person with the cresent key. I just baught the book on Spinebreaker and did it with a friend. You really dont need more then a Lesser Invisibility potion (But you can use a Invisibility potion if you would like to be safer). Since its such a short distance from the start of the instance past the first mob you only need one potion.

The thing you need to look out for is the Dog Patrol, they spot you very easy because of there high stealth detection, I had to die once to learn to watch closer.

When you go down the ramp to the left at the very beginning of the instance, try not to get to close to the mob at the bottom, jump off the side to get a little distance and then hug the corner of the next ramp down to the library door. Once you get into the library door you're in the clear. Enjoy you new Trinket when you finish that long run down the hall!

I'm not sure whether the quest can be done twice, but seeing as the trinket reward is a 'Unique' item, you can only have one of them in your posession at one time.

can a lvl56 warrior go Dire maul without problems? to get the book, do the book drop at every run or is it like 50runs to get 1 ?

Bought on Aggramar today for 45g, it's quite rare to see one on the AH here (was trying for weeks before i found someone selling one)

If you get one on aggramar, be sure not to get short-changed, it's worth quite a bit

As for delivering it to the library, it's worth mentioning that the doors leading to the library are pickable/explodable/key...able..., i've heard that a powerful seaforium charge is strong enough and i'm about to try truesilver skeleton keys...soon find out if they work lol

What everyone fails to mention here is if you haven't been to Dire Maul before, you will need a crescent key to get into the North Entrance. Well, I guess they did mention it, but they make it sound easy. This key is held by an imp in the east instance. To get him to give it to you, you must chase him through half the instance, killing tons of groups of mobs; this is definitely something you won't be able to do alone (i am a 62 Warrior, and we had trouble with a 65 Warlock, 58 Druid, and another 61 Warrior). Then he will give you the crescent key you'll need to get in the North entrance (I guess a rogue can pick this lock according to people in this thread). You will still need some muscle, as there is no way by the Gronn and wolves that are sitting at the bottom of the ramp without aggro, no matter what they say (by the time I got here, it was just me and the other warrior, and I still have not turned in the codex because we could not defeat them). Make sure you are loaded up with health pots and have help before you make the trek out to Feralas, or you will regret the time spent getting there! People like to brag about how awesome they are and therefore mislead you into thinking this is an easy task. Don't be duped, be smart and prepare beforehand. this book isnt that great cause of the BC i just sold it for 15g, there are MUCH better trinkets out there than this thing

I just got this from the AH last night for like 3g. Thinking of just doing the quest to get the XP and maybe a decent fire res trinket. Or just resell it. not sure.

lvl 62 arms warrior just died 4 times trying to hand in this damn book followed all of the directions of the ppl above either i'm doing something wrong or half of them are full of bull*!@#,yes i have the key,yes i got to the ramp in North DM and everytime i get detected trying to go past the Ogres at the bottom of the ramp no matter how close i am to the wall...must be my squeaky armour :P

or if no one has that damn key like nowdays no one EVER does pre-BC instances one party member can die walk thru the door as a ghost and open it from inside with the Torch ... and presto lost some durability but at least we didn't have to do DM East 1st to go for the pally quest in West ...

EDIT: found the athenaeum, its the library in the ogre instance of Dire Maul. All you have to do is turn in the quest to one of the mobs there and you get the trinket.

Supposedly you get a trinket for turning in the quest to the guy (don't know who or where he is). But the trinket gives +250 defense and health regen.

Such a $%^&ty quest. $%^&ing 200 armor, and 10 FR. I'd take the rogue one, 2% to hit, any day. The FR makes it....kinda....worth it. I coulda gotten it for 5g today. But it just sucks THAT much.
