OMG I hate this.... and it takes a while to get to him as a warrior due to physical immune mobs, gotta kill rattlegore, clear all those rooms and all that crap..... gah....
but hey, I'm gonna complete my damn heroism set, only thing I miss so....

As an engineer you can use the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=54998 (Hand mounted PyroRocket) and the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=56469 (Gnomish Lightning Generator) to kill the shades.

At 30 kills currently trying to farm this, and still no helm. Have gotten 3-5 drops of every other class helm except my own. Even gotten two Ace of Portals, and 3 Robe of the Void patterns so far.

Ended up being 35 runs of him before I finally got it. Final tally was:

6 Shadowcraft Caps
6 Beaststalker's Caps
4 Dreadmist Masks
4 Coif of Elements
4 Wildheart Cowls
4 Lightforge Helms
3 Magister's Crowns
3 Devout Crowns

... and a partridge in a pear tree. Er...

He spawns in the Headmasters Study area(Past the viewing room, other gate instead of one leading to the lich) after clearing out all of the 6 named mini-bosses in there.

Crit warriors are better warriors... Valor set is for people that havent been level 60, havent been to Dire Maul... Screw the %^&*ty set bonus, 8 Peices = 1 sec stun, thats BS. My Charge does 1 sec stun and its resisted half the time. Just do DM west and become a crit warrior

Just got this on my 3rd run in Scholo, and my first ever 5 person run there.

Thankfully, I was with an awesome paladin, and there was absolutely no question about who should get it.

Earlier on a couple of pieces of plate dropped, some leggings that had really amazing +stamina and armor stats, far better than mine, but they also had some spirit and int, and a belt with amazing armor, and + healing spells.

There was no question about me rolling on either of those, now way I could live with myself, despite the leggings being not all that bad for me to use.

So when the time came, this helm was mine, despite it being not too bad for the paladin to use either.

So learn your role paladins, you can be great, but any paladin with a full valor set deserves to be a laughing stock, and hated by warriors from either faction.

I freakin ran through scholo and this helm dropped. i had already gotten Plate of the Shaman king and our master looter said that whoever wants it should roll for it. we were a raid group and i rolled 88, a pally rolled a 76 and another pally rolled a 43. THEN A FREAKING HUNTER ROLLS A 94 AND THE MASTER LOOTER GIVES THE HELM TO HIM! WHAT IS THE HUNTER GONNA DO WITH IT BESIDES MAKE 7G FROM VENDORING IT! I'M STILL IN IMPERIAL PLATE I COULDA USED IT! I don't really mind pallys rolling on our valor set because it is a really good set for all plate wearers but someone who doesn't wear plate getting this? that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard of and anyone who doesn't wear plate and rolls on this should be banned for stupidity

I ran scholo for the first time, 10 man raid and i was MT. 59 Warrior Tauren. Dropped off the last boss and being the only warrior, recieved it and now goes with my bracers. Working on the set. Server Mal' Ganis.

For all the Master looters out there. Ignore pallies who roll on valor. Only let them have if the warrior does not need. Pallies who roll for valor have chosen the wrong class.

Dropped for me first time I fought him, the other warrior already had it, and the paladin din't want it, I lucked out cause I rolled a 15!

Ok i done like so many runs to scholo still no helm i have done other insances shineese farming for valor i have goten each piece within 8 runs and im not even trying for the chest yet but i mean wtf frakin skullflame shield has drped 3 times off this bos i have not won once and still no valor helm i think ive done like 12 runs already i feel like punchin sometin. Ive done everytin to good luck the drp i emoted the chicken dance i used he pray emote i mean wtf where is my helm.

Well at he rate it is goin for me i will probably comlete my might set before valor is done. I think that just by default i put together the whole lightforge set and im a warrior to. There is just never any paladins around in my raids, i always try to get atleast 2, but it seems my luck is bad in everything ranging from gettting drps. to getting the right people in a raid lol.

because so many people posted comments like "this item has a terrible drop rate!" I decided to start counting from the beginning. I'll admit it wasn't my VERY first run when i started but i ran scholo 20 times, 4 times a day for 5 days. I counted:
7 shadowcraft
4 devout
3 dreadmist
2 magisters
2 wildheart
1 lightforge
1 beaststalkers

despite the drop rate the site gives, in theory each helm "should" have a 1/8 chance right? seeing how there are 8 classes and a helm drops each time. However this doesn't seem to be true, seems that certain class items drop much more often. Maybe this is a bug or maybe it was intentional? who knows. I'll post an update on when i get it, if the item exists! lol :P

Any paladin that rolls on any 'Warrior' class item over a warrior that needs it should be immediately kicked from the group/raid, put on ignore and reported. Plain and simple. You fuggin paladins need to either learn to understand your roles in this game or dump that buff/healbot your playing and re-roll a warrior!

Which is none. Ran scholo the day the patch came out, and of course the valor helm did not drop. I'm 2000/12000 to exalted in AD and still have never seen this helm drop even once!

How did bliz improve the drop rate for the class sets? Seems to me its the same for the valor set...

First scholo run ever, Boots and Helm of Valor dropped, and I was the only plate wearer in the group.

I runt Scholo for about 15 times now and still he dind't dropped the helm :(. Only leather or cloth drops and even 2 times he dropt Epic :/ (robe of the void and that staff) It's the crappy'st drop rate ever.. so the ones who got it are verry lucky ;)

I found a remarkably effective way to keep those evil pesky paladins from rolling on valor items. START YOUR OWN DAMNED GROUP AND DON'T INVITE ONE!

Double up on the mage, it's a much much quicker run anyway.

Here's what I don't understand. If Gandling drops a set helm on every run, why is valor helm and the other set helms all ~6-7% drop? They should be ~12.5% each because there's 8 different classes, and 8 possible set drops (1/8=.12). Could thottbot info be old? Could it be that Gandling didn't always drop a set helm?

I have done Scholo so many times for this damn thing. I'm thinking it's about 20 times now. I have never seen it drop. I can't even get the damn boots to drop.

So my level 57 paladin brother gets ran through scholo to practice doing end game dungeons and what item drops? Valor helm. The tank in the group was an epic'd out pally so my brother got valor helm the first time he ever did an end game dungeon. I hate this crap.

Ok...this Helm should be called HELL OF VALOR...took me over 40+ Scholomance runs to get...all in all..it was exciting to fianlly loot it...and now im done with scholo since im revered with AD Happy Hunting!

If you want a Valor helm you need to come with us. My group of 5 friends have run Scholo 3 times straight trying to get helms and other gear for people. First time valor helm dropped and we all cheered the warrior. Next 2 times...also valor helm...

Moral of the story for those trying to get this thing but haven't been able to, keep trying I guess.

went to scholo today, at first we kept wiping (damn level 53s in scholo) but it was a friend of the epic level 60 -.-
so in the end we all got fed up and kicked them both.
Another person left because he wanted the epic guy and we almost quit. luckily i got some people and i went on to get the helm on my first full scholo! :D

thankfully the paladin was in a good mood and happily passed the roll. :)

its just all luck. First time i ever did scholo all the way through valor helm dropped, so i was pretty happy. On the other hand there was someone else in the group who claimed he had been there 50 times and his helm hadn't dropped. Rest assured he was pissed off when i told him it was my first and i got mine. Boots on the other hands took me about 12-15 kills of kirtonos or whoever. However this wasnt quite so bad as he is fairly close to the start of the instance, so easier to farm

I've ran Scholo three times in the last week all Darkmaster Gandling has on him is a green Christmas hat. Wouldn�t he have the Helm of Valor on? Does he always have the green hat on? Hope this goes back to normal after WOW gets done with Christmas.

im a bit off the curve - shortly going to Scholo - but you couldnt pay me to run with a paladin.
I like Paladins, I think they are great, but to avoid the drama of multiple plate wearers going into the same instance ill do without - exceptions for friends and guildies, of course.
I dont know why more warriors dont work this way - if you tank, you'll find work, skip the train if you think you're going to have trouble getting what you need - I run instances for fun, sure, but if it's level equivalent i'd like to get something for the time.

^ i can say this plate helm has really no difference with other plate helms that just with our horns on the side. Even LightForge Helm looks very unique. But still one of hte best helm if you can't get the epic sets.

I would just like to mention that while the rest of the set looks fantastic, this helm is comically ugly. It's just a regular round-topped helm in brown.

Well so i have done about 23 runs through scholo, i have seen eveything drp from the headmasters charger to ace of portals and every other helm except helm of valor tell me anyone is there some kind of secret to getting this i mean skull flame shield drped like 2 times already which i havent won once where is my helm.

I had my pauldrons on 5th run.
Had my boots in ten runs.
Had my pants on 10 or 15 tries.

I never saw the helm nor the breastplate

Last night I was asked to tank for a group through Scholo... We cleared the whole place and not a single plate drop 'cept for this. First run getting my helm, groupies said the tank they normally group with will be pissed when he finds out it dropped the one time he wasn't there.

I finally replaced my old greenie with something worth displaying /showhelm on :)

I have gotten all the pieces on my first of every run-boots from bat, belt from strat, ext. But Baron Rivendare is being and $%^&*!@ and doesn't want to drop those damn legs. I have done him so many times I could tank him with my eyes closed. I have gotten the helm of the executioner, his 2h sword =), and pretty much all other warrior drops, ive even seen his mount drop. BUT WHY THE HELL WONT HE DROP THOSE LEGS!

Well I had no quests, just wanted to get some loot. I got lucky and-WOW! The boots of valor dropped, than the Boneclench gauntlets and on Gandling, the HELM DROPPED! I picked up 2 valor pieces on my very first run-Needless to say I was thrilled. Liked dungeon, but won't return untill I have a bunch of quests. Sorry for all your guys' luck that have run it 40...50...100 times. Just lucky I guess.

Every single time I run Scholo either Magister's Crown or Dreadmist Mask drops. I've never seen any other set helms drop, let alone the Valor I want so much. Argh! Oh, well... maybe next time. :P

I just wanted to note that I am about to embark on my 100th time into Scholo. I am almost exalted, and while having no clan and 0 pug runs on the server I am have nothing to do but try to get this helm... I have seen everything drop at least once, that's including the headmasters charge... For a blue item, this is the WORST drop rate ever. 6.8% doesn't even accurately describe the drop rate... If you think it isn't, ask your server for everyone who has a Valor helm to PM you. I have seen the Devout and Beastalker drop so many times its stupid. If I had ANYTHING else to get, I'd definately go after it, but I have the executioner helm from the Baron in Strat Dead. I mean, it used to be nice when you could 10man it, and the instance ran you about an hour tops... Now to find a group on Kargath where all the top guilds are in t1 and t2, its not so popular. Blizzard needs to rethink how it randoms the loot in here... I mean, if they could just random what party members are in the group, so at least somebody could use the POS blue... Anyway, in the midst of 100, I'll edit it and tell you how it didn't drop for the 100th time...

I can buy greens off the AH for a max of 10g each (legs and chest probably cost around 10g EX: Commander's Blah of the Bear, which I have all of) that will give me more STR/AGI(wish armor+weapon enchants)/STA and AC then this. The ONLY thing valor has going for it is the set bonus.

Imo, it's just not worth farming for being only very slightly better then easy AH greens.

I have managed to get every single piece of valor, except the helm. I have done about 40 scholo runs, and not once has it droped. I am almost half way to exaulted with the argent dawn. I am not completely unlucky, I got the chest, and the belt both on my first LBRS, and UBRS runs. However I have been runing scholo fairly consistently since level 57 probably over 40 times, and this stupid helmet has not droped. I think I will just save up for the lionheart helm and wear that instead.

Now i going back(crazy, I know) on a daily basis to help a guildy get his lightforge helm.

hehe dropped for me on about my 9th takedown of gandling so i guess im pretty lucky :) Kirtonos has yet to drop my boots tho he drops them for every pug warrior who takes my place as guilds tank when im not there .... you think i said something to upset him lol ?

Anyway some tips for gandling ive noticed recently ... dont bother with shield bash its tempting with a wiz boss but he seems to have little/no vulnerability to it hes also immune stun so save your rage for sundering make sure you take health pots for this guy juuuust in case he desides to teleport your healer to a side room for a while :)

Dont bother with resisitance sets im sure i've seen this guy use forst/shadow and fire.

anyway thats my little advice on tanking the dropper :) good luck to all u guys who need this helm!

Run scholo a lot of times pretty much given up on this thing either green helm or beaststalkers for me.
