This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the Auriaya boss encounter in Ulduar, for both 10-player and 25-player raids. Auriaya Strategy for Ulduar in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

The pull
The main difficulty when facing
欧尔莉亚
is the pull. The boss is accompanied by 4
圣所警卫
buffing each other with their
兽群之力
aura, that will instantly use their
野蛮突袭
ability on any player in their line of sight, most likely killing them instantly.
To avoid this situation, the best strategy is to position your entire raid behind one of the stairways of the Observation Ring, hiding out of line of sight, to force
欧尔莉亚
and her Sentries to meet your raid in melee range, where they can't pounce anymore. Once the raid is in position, you can pull
欧尔莉亚
safely by leaving a
猎人
's trap or
萨满祭司
's totems in the path of her patrol to engage her, or have a brave
潜行者
sneak next to the boss and direct the
圣所警卫
to your tank with
嫁祸诀窍
.
Once the boss meets the raid, one tank must pick
欧尔莉亚
while the other tank grabs aggro of the 4
圣所警卫
(again,
嫁祸诀窍
helps a lot). The use of defensive cooldowns such as
盾墙
,
圣佑术
and
痛苦压制
is essential for the off-tank to survive tanking all 4 Sentries at once and they must be AoE'd down as fast as possible before these cooldowns time out. Use
嗜血
/
英勇
on pull to quickly burn down the Sentries and take full advantage of the burst window before
欧尔莉亚
's first fear.
Auriaya
Every 40 seconds,
欧尔莉亚
uses her
惊骇尖啸
ability to fear all members of the raid for 5 seconds, instantly followed by
警戒冲击
that must be interrupted before 2 seconds to prevent heavy AoE shadow damage to the whole raid. A well-timed
战栗图腾
is obviously clutch here, as well as fear breaks such as
狂暴之怒
(available every fear),

or

Her third ability is

. This spell sends a sonic shockwave in front of the boss, doing roughly 200.000 damage. This amount of damage would normally one-shot your tank, but the damage of the shockwave can be split between the players in its path. To deal with this ability, you simply have to position most of the raid facing the boss or directly on top of the tank to mitigate the damage together. Depending on the balance of ranged and melee DPS in your raid, you might have to require the melees, usually standing behind the boss to avoid parries, to also move on top of the tank during the 2.5 sec cast of
音速尖啸
to split the damage as well.
Finally,
欧尔莉亚
will summon a dozen
群居护卫者
with her ability

every 40-50 seconds. These are small, non-threatening panthers with barely any HP that can simply be AoE'd down in seconds to clear the field.
Feral Defender
野性防御者
A minute into the fight,
欧尔莉亚
summons a
野性防御者
. This panther has 612k HP and is almost similar to the
圣所警卫
from the pull, with its own
野性突袭
and
野性冲锋
abilities. The main difference is that the
野性防御者
does not care for aggro and will inevitably charge around and damage random targets. It can however be locked in place to some extent with taunt and fixate effects, and most importantly stunned and silenced, to mitigate the chaos in the raid and quickly burst it down. Prefer long stuns such as
to control the Defender for as long as possible before the stun DR makes it immune to further controls.
Once it dies, the
野性防御者
creates a void zone called
野性精华渗透
around its body, which deals about 9k damage per second while you're standing in it.
Technically speaking, you could try to pull the
野性防御者
away from the raid when it's about to die to position the void zone in a convenient place and save the stuns to prevent it from pouncing back into the raid and ruining your efforts.
However, it's usually easier to stun lock the Defender and quickly take it down to mitigate the heavy damage from
野性冲锋
on the raid, and then move away from the resulting void zone as a group. Make sure you move far enough of the
野性精华渗透
so that players feared by the next
惊骇尖啸
don't run into it.
After its first death, the
野性防御者
will come back to life every 40 seconds and you will have to kill again, spawning another
野性精华渗透
on the field and forcing your raid to move to a new position once again, until
欧尔莉亚
is dead.

Auriaya Tips for Ulduar in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Tips for Tanks on Auriaya
For once, you will want to position the boss facing the raid and not back to the raid, to split the damage from
音速尖啸
with the group.
Don't forget to use defensive cooldown on the pull to survive the burst damage from the 4
圣所警卫
attacking at once.
Tips for Melee on Auriaya
While it is safe to DPS
欧尔莉亚
from the back, be ready to move to the front when she casts
音速尖啸
to split the damage with the rest of the raid.
When positioning behind the boss, make sure not to break line of sight with the healers if you are in a stairway.
Tips for Ranged on Auriaya
As much as possible, try to stand on top of the tank to mitigate the damage from
音速尖啸
and stay in the
圣所警卫
's and
野性防御者
's dead zones to prevent them from pouncing.

Auriaya Abilities for Ulduar in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

The screech strikes fear into the hearts of all nearby enemies, causing them to flee in horror for 5 sec.

A massive blast that inflicts 6000 Shadow damage and increases Shadow damage taken by 100% for 5 sec.
