is the apotheosis of World of Warcraft's Northrend adventure. An epic 12 boss raid, Icecrown Citadel takes players on a grueling climb up the Citadel itself, encountering the worst the Scourge has to offer, and culminating in one of the most storied encounters of the whole game, the battle with Arthas Menethil, the Lich King himself.
This guide to Icecrown Citadel includes a raid overview and quick facts about the raid such as minimum requirements, layout, and entrance location. We will also cover raid quests. There are 12 bosses divided into 5 wings.
Bosses drop tokens for Tier 10 raid gear.
The raid is semi- linear; after the first wing, players can encounter the next 3 in any order before they ascend to the 5th.
There are both 10-Player and 25-Player modes, and Normal and Heroic versions of each boss.

is a Legendary 2-Hand Axe that can be earned in Icecrown Citadel.

is a raid specific faction that you can earn reputation with to access special rewards.

is a currency/reagent/quest item that drops from all bosses in Icecrown Citadel.
10-Player vs. 25-Player Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
In Wrath of the Lich King Classic, raids are available in two modes, 10-Player and 25-Player. 10-Player raids allow a maximum of 10 characters in a raid group while 25-Player raids allow a maximum of 25 characters in a raid group. Beyond the difficulty level, the primary difference between 10-Player and 25-Player versions is the loot table which will be covered in the separate Icecrown Citadel Loot Guide.

Heroic Mode for Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
In both 10- and 25-person modes, the Raid difficulty can be selected on a encounter-specific basis while inside the instance. This is a new feature added in Classic, allowing raids to change difficulty between boss attempts. The raid leader will be able to choose between Normal or Heroic mode for each boss prior to engaging the encounter, allowing the raid to face bosses on varying difficulty modes without making a binding commitment that the entire raid be locked into a particular difficulty setting.
How to Get to Icecrown Citadel in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Icecrown Citadel is located on the southern border of

. The summoning stone is to the west of the raid entrance, on the other side of the small encampment.

Icecrown Citadel has five wings on seven floors. The raid is semi- linear:
The Lower Spire must be completed first
The Plagueworks, the Crimson Hall, and the Frostwing Halls can then be completed in any order
The Frozen Throne can be accessed after all of the other wings have been completed
Teleporters activate once the first boss in an area has been defeated, making travel more convenient.

Shadowmourne Legendary Weapon
影之哀伤
is a Legendary 2-handed axe that can be earned through collections and quests in Icecrown Citadel.
In addition to the legendary weapon itself, the Shadowmourne questline rewards several very unique items. These items are not soulbound, so you can use them to rewards folks who helped you out, or even sell them on the Auction House should you so desire:

The Ashen Verdict Icecrown Citadel Reputation Faction in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

, led by Tirion Fordring and Darion Mograine, is a faction of craftsmen located in Light's Hammer at the start of the raid instance. Ashen Verdict reputation is earned by killing mobs inside Icecrown Citadel. Most bosses give 250 reputation,

gives 1500 reputation, and larger trash mobs give 50 reputation. Select classes can also gain reputation from completing the

quest chain.
Exalted with the Ashen Verdict grants

and the title <Name> of the Ashen Verdict.

is the Ashen Verdict Quartermaster. He sells patterns and plans for leggings and boots for each.

As Ashen Verdict reputation is earned, the ring can be upgraded, up to a maximum of item level 277 (equivalent to Icecrown Citadel 25-players, Heroic) at Exalted. If you want to choose a different ring after making your initial choice, you can replace yours for a modest fee.

Icecrown Citadel Achievements in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Raid achievements for Icecrown Citadel are divided into 10-Player and 25-Player versions. Completing these achievements successfully requires finishing the objective in the correct raid mode. Most raid achievements reward 10 Achievement points although there are some that reward 25 or even 50 Achievement points. "In order to unlock the option to set the difficulty to Heroic for each boss encounter, the raid leader will have to have defeated the Lich King on Normal difficulty first."
Is this true? On ptr heroic was unlocked, I don't think anyone is expecting to kill everything on normal 1st.
