The guards are dead and you're pretty much finding their remains, the first one is to the left of the river flowing south from the lake, the other one is by the murlocs. This one is hard to get because he is surrounded by 3 or 4 murlocs that like to aggro friends. It's much easier if you have a group.

This is not a hard quest. I did it solo on lvl 8. use goldvings coordinates to find the bodies, and lure murlocs away one by one and kill them. Just don't go for the treasure chest to the right of the rolf's body, as there are four or five murlocs waiting near it.

I looked and looked, finally found the body around 72, 60 (near where the river meets the lake).

What you're looking for is a "half-eaten body", it will look like some ribs and flesh sticking out of the ground with a shield next to it. You have to click on it (the little gear symbol will show up) to continue the quest.

When you get the quest "Find the lost Guards" swim or walk north along the river. You will get to a point where the river forks and where it forks is a tiny tiny little island (not to be mistaken with the huge island). When you get to the tiny island go to the northern most point of it and turn to the left (west). You should see the small waterfall. Swim past that small waterfall and go onto the main land. You should see a red thingy right in front of you once you get onto the main land, which is the first body you need to get. That will give you the quest to find Rolf's body around the Murlocs. So now go back in the river, swim to the east side of the river and go along until you find the first Murloc camp. If you swim to the end of the first camp, you will see 3 huts together and if you look a little past that, there are 2 huts together further away from the water. Look on the ground, to the right of these two huts and you should another red thingy, which is the second body.

i wouldn't attempt this without cords- i went to 72,60 and still didnt see it until i moused over and saw the mouse icon change. basically, simple quest- go to 72, 60. easy. then you are asked to go find rolf, probably some poor dead sucker too.

What fooled me several times in this quest is that you have to find the corpse at 72.60 first, i always ran for the other one.

Rolf is a bit tougher, being right next to a nest of easily aggro'd Murlocs. I soloed the first with no problem. I got mobbed trying for Rolf and I will either have to wait until I level up or go in as part of a party. I think I could do it now with just one other player, even a bit lower level; and he would get some great XP.

The only redeeming grace of those nasty little Murlocs is their cute little death dance.

FYI,

As usual, those that say this quest is easy for lvls 8-10 are full of absolute full, fresh and tart Bullsh**. The last body you have to trigger is surrouned by 4 murlocs directly and 2 roaming murlocs. I nearly put my fist through my monitor. By the time you reach a level in which you can solo this quest, you will either be in redridge, westafall, gave up playing the game or changed class.

I strongly suggest a group or a higher level, and since this quest doesnt reap anything but exp, its highly suggested to just drop it

With my 11/12 Human Warlock, trying avoid the Murlocks to target Rolf's body was a nightmare, I gave up after 5 or so attempts and the running back & forth from the cemetary was wearing on me. I'll heed the advice from others, return to finish quest with backup, or wait till about 4 livls higher to do it solo.

As the 1st thing go to the coords of 72,60. Speak to the half eaten body. It gives you a quest with finding Rolf or signs of his dead. He is at 79,55. That's all from here : )

This quest does not involve any direct fighting - you just have to find the body and click on it to complete this quest which is part of a chain.
The body is right by the western of the two waterfalls where the "polo-like" lake drains into the river. You need to scout around a bit - 72,60 is quite accurate as a co-ordinate but remember that these co-ordinates cover a few square metres!

Passed this quest with ease, with my Warrior. Once you have the quest from guard thomas, follow the river to the north, then go east, at the murloc village. There you will find the "Half eaten body". Open it and the quest is completed.
Hope that helped a bit :P. Btw, many murlocs are around the corpse so watch out if you are a priest/mage.

The first body is at 72:60 you then get a follow up quest to find the other body which is at 79:55.

Note: the run in, grab, and run out technique wont work. The kill a couple, die, and come back technique does work.

I'd suggest trying your best to pull the Murlocks one at a time and if you get links just stick to the "kill as many as you can before you go down" strategy. The graveyard is very close.

Soloed as level 9 Human Warrior.

ya it's not really bodies of the guards that you need to look for, they are more like the remains of the chest, just some ribs sticking up out of the ground, they are right next to the shield (on the side of the shield closest to the river....) rolf's bady is easy to get to as long as you can get someone to distract the murlocs while you search his body, about 5 of them attack you if you tried to be sneaky and go around the back side of the city

If you're anything else but a rogue, you will need help if you are within the Lvl range for this quest. Lvl 10 murlocs swarm the area around Rolph's remains.

You will find a large lump of meat (looks like raw ribs) at the top of the river on the west side of the water behind a tree. Right click on them to complete the quest.

Malakai's corpse is to the left of the waterfall (if your coming up it). He is to the right of the waterfall if your going down it.

Rolf's corpse is at the Murloc camp to the left of the waterfall (if your going down it, to the right if your going up). His corpse is basically right behind the last hut (containing the chest).

Soloed it with a level 8 human paladin. Died once. Ran away twice.

From Guard Thomas go to the Elwynn bridge and follow the river north. You will reach an area of stone and a tree. Go a little north of the tree and a bunch of remains will be found. It looks like torn cloth and armor with a lot of red color. Right click on these remains and the quest will be complete.

On the southern shore of Stonecairn Lake, on the west side of the source of the river. Next to a big rock and tree. Click on the ribs, and the mission will be completed.

I just inspected the meat at the first loc. (72,60) and the quest was done.

If you're looking for Malakai, he's just to the west of where the waterfall starts, on land. He looks pretty picked over; not so much a person as a mostly eaten corpse. Finding his remains starts you looking for Rolf, who is in the merloc camp just east of the waterfall.

Ok, Ralph's body is to the left side of the mouth of the river. (If you were looking north) The other guard's body is at the murloc encampment across the lake to the north east.

Guard Thomas wants you to travel north up the river and search for the two lost guards, Rolf and Malakai.

A few days ago we sent two Guards, Rolf and Malakai, to investigate along the river, and they have not yet returned. To complete my report, I must know what happened to those men.
