As can be seen from the updated item pic, the release of patch 2.3 will make all gladiator pieces part of the same set (Gladiator Vestments), meaning no more double +35 resilence 2 piece bonus. You will also get the 4 piece bonus for 2 pieces of season one gear and 2 pieces of season 2 gear, rather than requiring 4 pieces of season 2.

If you're like me, you're an under geared rogue. With S4 coming out some time in the forseeable future, I'll be looking to use some spare honor points to upgrade my PvE DPS. Now, assuming NO heroic gear, the order you should be looking at to upgrade are:

Merciless Gladiator's Shiv

I use mutilate, so of course I'm gonna get the daggers. Just substitute whatever weapon spec you use instead :) Remember, weapon boosts are generally the largest DPS increase for physical DPS classes, so nabbing the S2 weapons should be priority number 1.

Next are the armor upgrades:

Keep in mind that the real draw here is the shoulders. They provide a ~3 DPS increase over Expedition Scout's Epaulets with 2 +8 Hit gems. The helm and chest are more DPS sidegrades against the average rogue gear Helm of the Claw and Hauberk of Karabor, respectively. Both the HoC and HoK are relatively easy to get for beginning 70 rogues, but if you're having trouble finding groups for them, the gladiator gear will more than cover it.

Fel Leather Leggings or Leggings of the Betrayed are better than the S2 legs, as are Fel Leather Gloves better than the S2 hands. You're better off saving those honor points for the +20 AP gem.

Again, keep in mind that this is only for the starter rogue and only for PvP'ing for PvE upgrades. If you're looking to get a foothold when starting an arena team, by all means get all the gear and wreck some faces :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention the ranged weapon: Merciless Gladiator's War Edge. This is ~.2 DPS upgrade over the easily obtainable Felsteel Whisper Knives. Keep in mind though that the War Edge is the lowest DPS upgrade out of all the viable PvP options, so you should leave that one for last.

When compared with the Season 1 rogue shoulders, these will give you:

+3 Agility
+6 Stamina
-7 Crit Rating (!)
+2 Resilience Rating
+6 AP

Minor upgrades, overall, for shoulders that cost about 200 arena points more than Season 1.

I'm wondering where the crit rating went, too. With the incredible amounts of resilience most serious PVPers are stacking, a loss of 7 crit rating is a drop in rogue burst damage potential.

Im debating wether or not to get season 1 or s2 shoulders. The 10 extra energy is so worth the extra points tho hard to decide

I agree. The 4set bonus for this is 80times better than the old set bonus of a 1sec quicker Gouge cooldown.

The crit chance between season 1 and season 2 shoulders is a -7 loss, but the overall armor set is +2 increase in crit chance. So for a mere 1078 more arena points than the complete season 1 set, you will get an overall increase of the following:

Agility by +19
Stamina by +30
Crit Chance +2
Resilience +11
Attack Power +28

I think there is no point in getting the season 1 set, unless you really like gouge. I would save all my arena points for the season 2 set. Getting an extra 1078 arena points can easily be done in 2-3 weeks.

Awesome looking shoulders. But. Be aware if you're going to buy these that when you stealth, the majority of the shoulder model goes transparent for some reason. Not a big deal, just though that I'd bring it to people's attention.
but still, it's up to you whether this is worth it to get,

Yes these shoulders r nicer than the chess ones but with the extra +20 ish hit (with right gems) Makes the chess ones better for pve so if the drop go for then and have a pve set +hit +AP and a pvp set +Crit +Stam + Resilience

If you look closely, the shoulders have an animated texture of some sort, which would kinda explain why they screw up when you go stealth. Love the looks though, just got them on my nelf (female) rogue last night.

Trying to resist getting s2 helm too for the imba looks.
