This effect does not stack with the priest talent power infusion, though you can cast the two consecutively for some hefty sustained damage.

It's indeed a must-have talent, for both PvP and PvE specced mages.
in combination with Presence of Mind this produces a hell of burst damage.
I managed to crit for over 5k with a +damage of 750(which is not that much). That's an overall of 7k+ damage including the dot(if u got the talent) thus almost one-shotting an average geared player.

Speeds macro is a little weak, I think the trink slots in a macro are
/use 13 or 14

all good 3 Minute Mages use 2 damage trinkets

This and other arcane spells are seeing quite some changes in 3.0.9

AP is being changed to a 1 minute cooldown and the increase in mana cost / damage is being reduced to 10%. Arcane flows will reduce this cooldown by 30% (to 42 seconds) for 2 talent points.

To reduce the burst damage (a serious issue in pvp) further, PoM won't be usable with arcane power. However if the glyph remains unchanged, the new arcane power can be active around 43% of the time which makes it slightly better for all current raid content.

As of 3.0.9, the Arcane power tolltip now says that damage is increased by 20%, and mana cost increased by 20%.

This spell also has a shared CD now with PoM, as said above.

Once AP is used, a 15 second CD will be set on PoM.

(For some reason, it says "increases dmg by 10%" in the patch note file under the WoW directory, but it says 20% on the web site. If you ask me, I'd go with the web site.)

Silly question, possibly, but...

does Arcane Power actually buff your buffs?

In other words: If I were to pop a trinket, mana gem, and then arcane power, does the extra spell power from the trinket and the mana gem also get a 20% boost?

I would imagine so, but crunching the numbers and testing it out myself just seems utterly dull.

It's a percent damage modifier. Nearly all % damage modifiers in game stack multiplicatively and are almost always (I'd say always but there's probably some exception somewhere) applied after base damage due to spell power effects have been calculated.
Eg.
(base damage + (%spellpower coefficient)*(spell power + temporary effects)) *(%damage modifiers).
Assuming values of:
base damage = 1000
coefficient = 1
spell power = 1000
damage modifier = 20% or 1.2

if temporary effects = 0; total damage = 2400
if temporary effects = 500; total damage = 3000
which results in an actual increase of 25% over your base damage or a 600 dmg boost.

So yes, it "buffs your buffs" in the sense that you'll do more total damage if you used arcane power at the same time as your other cooldowns than if you spread your cooldowns apart. NOTE, however, that in the more general case, separating only results in a dps loss if you're stacking effects that work multiplicatively. For example, if you have two cooldowns that increase your spell power, using one and then the other will result in the same total damage done as using them simultaneously. If you have a cooldown that increases your crit chance and a cooldown that increases your spell power, however, using them separately results in a slight damage loss (assuming that they have the same cooldown time). This is because when you activiate abilities that affect different effects, you change the relative values of the effects themselves. This may seem counter intuitive at first but I don't really feel like writing out a few problems to prove this.

But anyways, you seem to be misunderstanding what this talent does. It does not actually boost your spell power, and so it does not actually boost the spell power from your trinket and your mana gem. What it does do is boost your spell damage done. This is an important distinction because a X% boost to your spell power wouldn't result in the same X% boost to your damage done since a significant amount of your damage comes from the base damage values.

This is the Arcane Mage's main Cooldown.

We are meant to cast this at the start of our mana burn phase, defined as having (1) Evocation as being ready within about 15s, (2) Arcane Charge having the maximum 4 charges, (3) having the maximum of 3 charges and (4) mana use having been conserved up to that point and near 100%.

Unlike some spells, Blizzard uses the same spell ID for the player buff (you see in the top right corner of your screen).

, a new and important Cooldown for Arcane Mages, would normally be cast right afterwards.

Formerly this ability INCREASED mana cost, making it less about making you deal more overall damage, but instead making you deal damage faster. Nowadays it helps you keep attacking longer and harder, so it's extremely powerful. However, between it's short duration, and the fact it triggers the global cooldown, you have to time it just right to make sure you can hard-cast for the whole duration to get the most out of it.

Edit: It's been both taken off the global cooldown and given a longer duration, so it's gone from great to amazing.
