October 2015

Archaeology Projects have been added to the Profiler.

The Battle.net API does not track certain collections correctly, so we added Advanced Profiler Tracking so your Profiler collections are accurate.

Get personalized charts by Pinning a character on the Wowhead Profiler. Bars for things you've completed will be green instead of blue, and chart tooltips will show that you've completed it.

Quick Facts info for world drop items (example: Необычный перстень-печатки Перкулии) now show a level range, related zone, and expansion.

September 2015

Our database now has a site map/hub page: http://wowhead.com/database. This page organizes all of the database categories and relevant tools, links to popular filters, and highlights recent comments and screenshots.

We've added charts powered by the Wowhead Profiler to guides! These charts show what percentage of Wowhead users have obtained popular items or completed achievements. It can help you see what other people on the site are interested in collecting and what's considered average among the playerbase. For example, you can see which Children's Week pet is the most popular and how many of each ship are in everyone's Fleet.

Wowhead Weekly offered several merchandise discounts active through the end of September 2015: 25% off tees with J!NX, 10% off most Blizzard Gear Merchandise.

The Profiler received several updates: sorting options have been renamed to sound more user-friendly, a legend has been added explaining all the colors for pet completion bars, and the algorithm for determining the size of the green completion bars has been recalculated to better reflect the power of your collected pets.

We launched a Legion Scavenger Hunt which was our largest database scavenger hunt yet!

Battle Pet collections on the Profiler received improvements. It is easier to see the number of unique pets, the customized names of your pets, and how far your collection is towards being complete.

We launched a Chinese version of Wowhead's database!

We made a Draenor Pathfinder video guide which was featured on the Battle.net Client and WoW's homepage.

The Adventure Journal is a new addition in 6.2 which provides personalized content recommendations. We've taken those recommendations and added them to the top of our Character Planner!

We've added notifications to Today in Draenor for premium users so you can get alerted when the dailies you need are up on your realm.

The Action Bar Simulator lets you arrange spells for each spec, assign them keybinds, and indicate which keybinds are for macros.

We've partnered with Overwolf so you can access Wowhead in-game. The Wowhead App comes preinstalled with Overwolf, is completely free, and lets you search the site without having to alt-tab out of game.

Our class guides and resources received a revamp with more information including pages for add-ons, gearing, and talents, a new layout, and general guides for the four major roles.

We've partnered with top guild Method for Mythic Hellfire Citadel written and video guides.

Flying is coming to Draenor, so we launched the Flying Tool to check your Draenor Pathfinder progress.

The Character Planner now includes sections showing your best follower and ships for important Garrison and Naval Missions.

Patch 6.2 and Hellfire Citadel went live, and we have a ton of guides!

Today in Draenor is updated for 6.2 with the new Tanaan reputation and Oil dailies. We've also added World Event tracking to the tool.

June was a busy month for video content--we interviewed Lead Game Designer Ion Hazzikostas, our 6.2 Q&A Recap was hosted on WoW's twitch, and our Tanaan Jungle Tour video was featured in the Battle.net Launcher.

May 2015

We launched the Dressing Room tool for the ultimate custom transmog experience--create and save your own sets, easily browse gear on Wowhead, find a matching mount, and customize your appearance to express your personal style.

Our Naval Missions have updated calculators, so you can see how to 100% these missions.

We made a database for Mission Threats showing what abilities can counter them and what missions have each threat.

Shipyard data was refined, with separate databases for Ships and Naval Abilities

Our subscribers have a new feature! You can now customize the front page sidebar by moving all of the blocks around using the up and down arrows. Like Today in Draenor? It can be at the top now.

We've created a simple Item Recommendations tool where you can directly compare two items, select a specialization and average item level, and receive an estimate if the item is an upgrade or not. This page also summarizes your stat priority and links to additional gear recommendations and class guides.

Items pages now have a "Quick Compare" option in Quick Facts which takes you to the Item Recommendations tool with the gear you were visiting automatically loaded.

Filtering items with stat weights for a particular slot now includes Warforged, Socketed, and random stat versions of items in results.

We've added support for Korean, Chinese, and Taiwan realms to the Profiler, Planner, and Battle Pet Calculator.

Our transmog set database now lets you choose the race and gender you want to view the sets on in our Gallery view and on specific transmog set pages.

Get personalized gear recommendations on item pages by pinning a Battle.net character via the Profiler. You'll see a special "Upgrade for" section in Quick Facts when visiting any gear page. This lists the name of the character for whom it is an upgrade and clicking on it takes you to their Profile page.

We added Critters of Draenor, Traders, Trading Post Work Orders, and Menagerie details to Today in Draenor.

Video links in database comments are now automatically placed in a Video Submission queue and can be displayed directly on Wowhead.

March 2015

Check all your daily quests before logging in with Today in Draenor! This sidebar displays daily Apexis, Bounty, Dungeon, Inn, Profession, Relic, and Weekly quests for NA and EU regions.

Alerts have been added to Quick Facts on pages for daily profession traders, their quests, and items, so you know which are currently up on servers and when they'll next be in town. Example: Зачаровывательница Исмэ

Item tooltips now support raid size and difficulty.

Our list of item filters has been regrouped, with a new filter added for Unused test items.

Removed items now state they are "Unavailable" in item listviews, and their special text on item pages has been updated to be less vague.

Mission pages now have a "Similar Missions" tab listing missions with similar level and item level requirements, rewards, and mission categories.

February 2015

Heirloom tracking has been added to the Profiler. Track which heirlooms you've acquired, sort by source, and see which ones still need to be upgraded to 2/2.

Patch 6.1 and Blackrock Foundry went live and we had a ton of guides to all the new content!

Recent hotfixes are now viewable on database pages for achievements, factions, items, npcs, quests, and spells. Just visit the database page and it will list up to four hotfixes published in the last four months.

Our modelviewer switched from Flash to WebGL for faster load times, better particle effects, and mobile compatibility.

The mission calculator expanded to display up to three recommendations for maximum experience as well as options to choose followers with Epic Mount and to calculate the success as if your followers were at max ilvl. The calculator now lets users link their specific follower combinations as well.

Follower tracking on the Profiler now lets users filter by all counters and trait buffs. Pinning a character via the Profiler also displays completion status for your followers across the site.

Additional mission filters have been added for legendary item, follower upgrades, and gear token rewards.

Profession recipe tooltips now show if they have a cooldown greater than a day, and how many materials the recipe creates.

Crafted items that can be upgraded or rerolled have received some improvements. Upgrade item pages have a tab showing what items they can upgrade, reroll item pages have a tab showing what items they can reroll, and crafted item pages show what items can be used to upgrade them in Quick Facts.

Mount tooltips now display flavor text and source information from the in-game Mount Journal. Example: Коготь Бездны Темной Звезды

January 2015

Wowhead can now track your follower collection, using it to power personalized mission recommendations. Learn more here.

Our follower database received some improvements. Follower pages now display all the potential abilities they can get based on their class and spec, instead of just default abilities. A "May Counter" filter has been added showing what threats a follower could counter from their pool of five abilities.

The Garrison Ability database has received more filters. Cannot be Obtained Randomly are for preset abilities that have no other source, Exclusive covers a group of traits that you won't find two of on one follower, and Permanent covers abilities you won't lose when rerolling followers.

Toy Box Collections are now tracked on Wowhead via the Profiler. This displays all of your toys broken down by Source and filters to hide types of toys you're not interested in collecting. If you "Pin" your character via the Profiler's header, your Toy Box collection is displayed when you browse toys across the site, showing completion info.

Heirloom tooltips now show upgrades and source information, and upgrade bonuses are supported on our item tooltips.

Other data types have received tooltip improvements. Toy Box tooltips show source information from the in-game collection UI, mission tooltips display rewards, number of followers, and more, and Garrison Ability tooltips show type, category, and spec.

Transmog Sets now have in-game links to the dressup window, so you can preview transmog sets in game.

Mailbox Tracking has been added to zone pages.

We launched a series of in-depth Highmaul guides, and then partnered with top raiding guild Method for Mythic video and written strategy guides.

The Character Planner has a new section giving Garrison building and content recommendations based on your achievements.

The Followers database now lets you browse by images of followers, and we've refactored the database to have unique pages for Alliance and Horde followers that share a data ID.

We've expanded the filters for our Titles database, as well as displayed more details on title pages for all sources and temporary titles.

Tom Tom and NPCscan commands have been added to achievement pages under the criteria section.

Building upon the success of our Garrison beta coverage, we launched a series of in-depth Garrison Guides covering everything you'd want to know about Garrisons!

The Garrison Calculator now shows Work Orders, items you can craft without a profession, and follower building perks.

BlizzCon 2014 featured several huge giveaways, coverage on all the Warcraft panels, a jam-packed party, and the launch of our Overwatch Site.

We created a Garrison Timer Mobile App notifying you when your Work Orders and Missions are complete.

The character planner has a new section recommending Warlords-only achievements based on your in-game activity.

Our spell tooltips received a revamp to better highlight spec-specific changes while reducing text clutter.

The Profiler header was revamped and players can now easily access their combat logs on WarcraftLogs on the header.

Garrison Followers now have tooltips showing their abilities, level, quality, name, and source.

The Garrison Calculator now shows level requirements to purchase blueprints.

Garrison building pages now show level and achievement requirements.

Items now show more stat variations, including tertiary stats, warforged options, extra sockets, random stats, and crafting stages. Items on pages can be modified to show extra stats and they are supported with our tooltips.

If an item can be crafted without knowing a profession, the related spell will show the required Level 2 or 3 Garrison building.

We built a Garrison Mission calculator, visible on all mission pages, for you to plan out what followers to use on missions to counter threats. Mission pages have also received styling updates to better resemble what you see in-game.

September 2014

Heirloom scaling is now enabled for post-squish Warlords items, as well as Garrosh Heirlooms like Лабрисса Адского Крика from 90-100.

Draenor Perks are now displayed on the spell tooltips that they modify, such as Исчезновение.

Spell scaling is enabled on boss ability pages, as raids scale in size from 10-30 players in Warlords of Draenor. You can also change the tooltip to display a particular difficulty.

Garrison Building pages now display how many followers can be assigned and their maximum amount of work orders. The main Garrison building pages also lets you browse by image view!

Garrison Followers now have 3D models, separate pages for Alliance and Horde, source information, and in-game portraits.

Follower Abilities now have additional filters and categories, resembling the in-game options at your Inn.

Garrison Missions now have tooltips, display Exhausting info, show base success chance, include in-game portraits, Mechanics info, and Mission Type.

Garrison Resource costs have been added to building tooltips.

We've added a new column on item search results called Bonuses. These show all the other versions of an item, for example, a Mythic item would display the Heroic variant in this column.

You can now sort the name column with or without sorting by quality as well. The first two clicks on the "Name" column will only sort by name, and the 3rd and 4th click will sort by quality, then by name ascending or descending.

August 2014

Warlords of Draenor filters are now fully working! Due to item data changes, many filters had to be refactored--item level, required level, all stats, all raid difficulties. As there is only one item page for all versions of an item in WoD, vs a page for each item, we have modified the filters to show multiple versions of an item in a filter, instead of the "basic" version displayed by default on the page. Just visit http://wod.wowhead.com/items to see them in action.

Wowhead now supports Battle.net Oauth Login. Logging in with your Battle.net account is as simple as clicking a button, instead of entering a User Name and Password. All of your Battle.net characters show up under "My Profiles" automatically in the "Import" submenu as well.

Our Garrison calculator now shows any building requirements like achievements or blueprints, the cost for a specific building level, and the total cost for building and upgrading a building! The Garrison Calculator now supports buildings with faction-specific names and displays building bonuses for lower-level buildings when selecting a higher-level building.

Warlords of Draenor itemsets have been added, including pages for Normal, Heroic, and Mythic Tier 17.

The Item Comparison Tool is fully updated for Warlords of Draenor, supporting all item bonuses/difficulty variations.

Warlords of Draenor boss pages now support loot tabs for all raid difficulties--LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. Due to the item changes mentioned above, these pages have been refactored to have the boss loot automatically update their stats based on the difficulty you have selected. Legacy raid difficulties are also currently supported.

Filters have been added for quests that reward Garrison followers and Follower and Quest pages are now linked.

The Wowhead Client is updated for WoD and we've begun processing user data--NPC locations and drops are showing up in the WoD database.

We launched a new series of WoD guides, this time on professions in the expansion.

Warlords of Draenor and 6.0 items now display item bonuses. Item bonuses are part of Blizzard's efforts to refactor item data in Warlords of Draenor. Siege of Orgrimmar items display raid difficulty and Warforged bonuses, WoD quest items now display uncommon, rare, and epic versions, and WoD dungeon items now display a Heroic option as well as bonuses that modify the required level and item level. When an item bonus is selected, the URL is modified as well so you can link the specific version of an item that you want.

Olivia and Perc started a new video podcast, the Wowhead Weekly. Catch up on the latest news, beta developments, and site improvements on Wowhead every week.

Warlords of Draenor items can now have multiple models attached to them, as opposed to one model for one page, so our modelviewer now automatically updates based on what item bonus you have selected.

Item Tooltips for Warlords of Draenor have also been updated with bonus modifiers for new raid difficulties, augmentations, and random stats.

Mount pages now display Warlords of Draenor flavor text from the mount journal.

Modelviewer animations have been added to your character's model on the Profiler.

Item tooltips for glyphs now display what other glyphs are exclusive and cannot be used at the same time.

Tooltips have been added for Garrison Buildings and Abilities.

Garrison Abilities now show if they are an Ability or a Trait, and what enemy threat they counter. There are also Counter filters for Abiilties and clicking on a Counter on a Mission page brings up a list of all abilities that counter it.

A new legacy achievement category has been added, which covers many Feats of Strength related to old content patches like MoP Challenge Modes, classic WoW PvP titles, and 2500 эмблем подземелий и рейдов.

We launched the Wowhead Subscription Program, a revamp of Wowhead Premium that offers even more new features to our Patrons like the Bag Scanner tool and images in search results.

Our Warlords of Draenor Beta Key Giveaway started! This series of giveaways has a twist--enter by completing in-game achievements, which are then tracked on our Profiler!

We launched the Character Planner which suggests achievements and guides you'd be interested in, as well as gear upgrades and zones that have the most upgrades.

Garrison Missions have been added to the Warlords database.

The database is now equipped to handle the new stat Versatility as well as hybrid primary stats. These hybrid primary stats are found on Warlords of Draenor items and change based on your spec. On individual item pages, you can modify an item's tooltip to show the stats for your spec, using the "Showing tooltip for: " option underneath the tooltip.

Toybox items now have their own Warlords filter and display information on tooltips and Quick Facts.

We've aded more site achievements for our users!

The Content Team has made numerous guides and videos to Warlords of Draenor Alpha coverage--which is all found at our Warlords of Draenor Content Hub.

The Profiler now displays two additional columns for your character's stats--one column counts stats affected by self buffs, and another column shows what your stats are like fully raid-buffed.

We revamped our transmog guides and published a series of guides organized by class.

Wowhead's front page received a design revamp to better highlight database updates and other content like guides and previews.

Patch 5.4.8 went live and database search results, item comparison, and tooltips now support 4/4 upgrades as well as the refactored formula for determining upgraded stats.

Tooltip improvements: automatically-learnt glyphs and spec-specific talents now display that information on tooltips.

We launched the first Warlords of Draenor database! All gear, consumables, and gems displays post-squish stat values.

The Warlords of Draenor Talent Calculator was updated to include Draenor Perks, spec-specific talents, and exclusive/spec glyph behavior.

We added database sections for Garrison Buildings and Followers as well as a Garrison Calculator.

Warlords of Draenor PvP items that have different ilvls for PvE and PvP have a "PvP mode" checkbox and external tooltip option.

The modelviewer was updated for Warlords of Draenor and players can view updated versions of their character models.

Draenor Perks are a new spell section in the database and can be found in search results under the "Perks" tab.

We launched our new Item Finder tool for new players or those unfamiliar with databases. Just click on a few buttons to get filters for your gear, consumables, profession items, mounts and more!

The search results page has received a number of improvements. At the top of the page, you'll find the most popular results as well as top guides for that topic. Underneath, the tabs and data lists have been organized by popularity, and you can now filter your results further.

Fishing pools have been added to the database with map locations and basic catch information.

Recipes are now added to the Profiler Exclusion filters.

Zones have been revamped to cluster zones by level in addition to continent. Cities now have their own page and Dungeons, Raids, and Scenarios can now be found under the new /Instances page as well.

Transmog sets and battle pet image galleries can now be sorted with filters.

We've added a new way to browse search results. Simply click on a result and navigate between other things on the list with the red arrow buttons at the top right of the screen. Click on the Up button to return to the search results.

The Item Comparison tool and Profiler now account for item enhancements (gems, enchants, profession perks) that scale based on level. Tooltips and stat summaries reflect the stats appropriate to your character's level.

Users can sort by pet rarity in the Profiler and custom profiles now have smarter search results when equipping class-appropriate weapons.

The enchant picker window used in the Item Comparison tool and Profiler received additional filter improvements.

NPCs that offer quests now have a ! before their name in search results. When getting multiple results for an NPC, it is easier to see which versions are used in phased areas, and which are the real questgivers.

Personal loot, such as LFR, Flex, and legendary quest items, is marked as PL in the droprate column instead of ?? to better reflect the droprate information.

Battle Pet NPC pages now display source details in Quick Facts and under all maps.

Subzone maps have been added to the database. They have a new menu in /maps and can be accessed from a special Subzone tab on their parent zone page.

Users can now add their favorite items to Custom Profiles as they're browsing Wowhead. Look for the blue "Add to List" button on most pages at the top right, or add multiple items directly via the listview.

Wowhead and Hearthhead are now optimized for tablet devices! Have fun browsing on your iPad with new menus and page layouts.

Players can now filter their collected mounts, pets, achievements, titles, and recipes in the Profiler with special exclusion categories for things you're likely to ignore like Collector Edition or non-US promotion items.

Players can track a character's collected mounts, pets, achievements, titles, and recipes on database pages and search results. Site tooltips for item and spell versions reflect completion as well.

We launched a complete sound database featuring zone music, spell effects, and NPC gossip. Users can also create their music playlists.

Sounds and music have been added to the database. Listen to the sound effects and music associated with a particular spell or zone.

Users can now track their quest progress on individual quest pages and search results by pinning an imported Battle.net Character in User Settings. Site tooltips reflect quest completion as well.

Guides have received a number of improvements, including better visibility in search results, a new landing page, improved styling, and better integration on database pages.

A changelog tab has been added to all spell pages that have received changes since Patch 4.1. This displays all versions of a spell's tooltip, the patch build it was changed in, and any name changes, like .

Welcome Hearthhead to the Wowhead family! Hearthhead features tons of Hearthstone tools, including an Arena Practice tool, Deck Guides, Deckbuilder, and Community Hub. Our Hearthstone database has been expanded to now include achievements, cards, heroes, mechanics, and quests. We also have localized tooltip text and display what hero levels unlock basic Golden cards.

A Same Mechanics tab has been added to battle pet ability pages for abilities that are identical in all but name.

A new battle pet filter, Has Ability, has been added for players who want to search pets that have the same ability--or share many abilities. Enter in the ability ID to search.

Gem and enchant picker windows used in the Item Comparison and Profiler tools now have additional filters and new default sorting.

The Profiler's Equipment Set was reworked to be much smoother and reload less when modifying a character's gear. In addition, battle pets in the Profiler can have their stats specified and changed.

Patch 5.4 went live--our series of guides included ones on the Timeless Isle, Proving Grounds, 5.4 Gearing, MoP's legendary questline, and Professions.

Flexible raid details have been incorporated into the database, include boss ability scaling and filters on Tier 16 boss pages.

Mounts now have a gallery image view as well as a traditional view, like our transmog sets and battle pets.

For users interested in Challenge Modes or Proving Grounds, a "Challenge Mode" scaling button has been added to item pages and the Comparison tool. This scales an item down to item level 463.

Users can now filter individual transmog sets from the new Part of transmog set # filter or via the new "Filter This Set" button on pages. This allows users to see the sources of all items and narrow down items in large sets.

Role filters have been added that allow users to filter items by Agi DPS, Int DPS, Strength DPS, Tanks, and Healers. This filter is at the top, next to faction and class filters. Additional role drop-down menus have been added for trinkets due to their complicated procs.

Additional quest objective data has been added to quest pages.

Achievement criteria has been improved for achievements that have different criteria for Alliance and Horde, such as Я у тебя на базе, и я убиваю твоих парней!. Click the toggle to see faction-specific criteria.

We introduced the Battle Pet Team Calculator--create and link your ideal pet teams, import a player's team from Battle.net, or check out a trainer's team. The calculator also comes with a Compare feature that allows two teams to be compared with an ability analysis below that points out strengths, weaknesses, heals, debuffs, and more.

Items now display new RPPM details, including radio buttons for items with spec-specific procs, details on cooldowns, and information on proc modifiers such as Haste, Crit, and Budget.

Battle Pet Abilities now have a scaling tool on their ability pages--enter in the pet species, level, quality, and breed and the tooltip will display the exact damage value.

New filters include spells that scale with Spellpower and Attack Power, Flexible and Warforged items.

Spell Effects have much more information listed under Spell Details.

New tooltip option allowing users to hide more complex parts of Wowhead tooltips when displaying them on third-party sites.

We relaunched the Profiler, allowing you to import characters from Battle.net, modify characters, and create your own characters and custom lists from scratch! You can even make and save lists logged out.

Items now have image search results, in addition to the normal listview. Click on the "Gallery" tab to see 3D thumbnails of all the items and click on each picture to open our modelviewer.

The "Same Model As" tab on weapon and armor pages now displays an item's model instead of simply text. Perfect when trying to find items that are completely identical.

Loot specialization details have now been added to all boss and item pages. Click on the class icon on NPC pages to filter loot for your class--spec details appear in the "Type" column. We've also added Loot Specializaiton item filters.

Breed and conditional filters have been added to Battle Pets, and users can now change stats in search results by clicking on the Breed drop-down menu.

June 2013

We migrated servers--this change will allow us to have better uptime, faster load times, and allow us to create more awesome features in the future.

Tooltips received several additions. We now display multiple resource costs for abilities, buffs/debuffs applied by an ability, and Attack Power coefficients, in addition to improving the spellpower coefficients for spells with Direct Damage/Healing and DoT/HoT components. We've also simplified some of the displayed formulas, while still allowing users to use the spell slider to scale the tooltip by levels.

Battle pet passives have been added to Pet Quick Facts.

Thunderforged and Heroic tags have been added to items.

We launched a Hearthstone database for Blizzard's upcoming game! In addition, we offer Hearthstone tooltips with many display options, including custom text and premium card art!

We added a reagents breakdown on all recipe spell pages, so you can track how many raw materials you need for crafting items!

Patch 5.3 went live--we had a series of content guides, including Brawler's Guild, Battle Pets, New Transmog Gear, and Battlefield Barrens.

Patch 5.3 also changed the item upgrade formula, which is reflected on all of our tools.

Battle pet pages now display a "Same Model As" tab, and the pet stat calculator shows both numerical and H/P/S breed notation.

Patch 5.2 went live, and we made a series of guides: Wowhead's Patch 5.2 Guide, Throne of Thunder Overview, Isle of Thunder Content Guide, New Gear Guide, and 5.2 Legendary Questline Guide.

We added a stat tool to all battle pet pages calculating stats based on a pet's breed, quality, and level, and revamped our gallery and traditional listviews to display more information about a pet's abilities.

Abilities on battle pet pages now show what level they are learned at, and auras are now linked to their parent pet abilities.

A new filter was made for Thunderforged items.

We held a sweet giveaway and gave away an Origin PC!

We went to PAX East and previewed Blizzard's new game, Hearthstone, as well as the console version of Diablo III!

We updated our battle pet ability filters, http://www.wowhead.com/petabilities, with dozens of new spell filters, including Pet Type, Ability Family, State Bonuses, Weather, Buffs, Debuffs, and Combat Order.

Ability information on battle pet pages were updated with details on accuracy, duration, cooldown, base power, and base healing.

The 5.2 PTR was in full swing with coverage on Warlocks' Green Fire, Transmog Changes and 3D Models, New Battle Pets, and previews of the Season 13 PvP armor.

5.2 PTR: The 5.2 PTR hit and our PTR website, http://ptr.wowhead.com/, is now up with all the latest additions. We got a bunch of 5.2 coverage up quickly, including Season 13 PvP Armor, new troll transmog gear, raid and scenario encounters, patch notes, and a huge patch overview covering everything from Season 15 armor to new vanity items.

5.1 coverage continued with an updated Darkmoon Faire guide, new battle pet guide, new rare tames, and overview of the Brawler's Guild.

Several tools were added to support Item Upgrades in 5.1:
Our Item Comparison Tool now supports Item Upgrades. An "Upgrade" option has been added to the item menu (click on the icon to access), which will automatically adjust the tooltip and all the stats. Go to http://www.wowhead.com/compare to get started!

Search results now display an "Upgrades" column between "Req." and "Side." This column displays icons if the item can be upgraded, and mousing over an icon shows an upgraded version for easy reference. There is also a new search filter: Can Be Upgraded.

Toggle options on all item pages display an approximation of the upgraded stats, including trinket procs, which aren't displayed in the in-game UI. Quick Facts displays the currency cost for all upgrades.

We added an option to our advanced tooltip code to display upgraded items instead of the basic version. Adding "upgd=" and specifying the upgrade amount (1 or 2) will display the new version.

For MoP's launch, we unveiled several new features for battle pets: an interactive map and visual database.

We partnered with <Method> and updated our livestream page so you can check out their heroic progression and timed challenge mode runs.

The MoP database was fully integrated into our live database, with custom work including new transmog sets and Same Model As tabs for all MoP items.

We had a number of guides for MoP's release, most notably our Launch Guide, Reputation Quick Facts, Profession Quick Facts, and Pre-Raid Gear Guide.

Additional filters were added, such as PvP Power, PvP Resilience, and items found on the Black Market Auction House.

Wowhead News got a major layout revamp and new look. We also restyled the sidebar to have new tools such as featured guide box as well as the most popular addons from WoW Interface. Most importantly, it's no longer on a separate domain.

We added a League of Legends website to our growing network: LolKing. With awesome tools like a Wowhead-inspired League of Legends database, a 3D model viewer, tons of informative charts, and a LoL stream portal, there's something for everyone.

Our 3D Modelviewer was redone. It uses Flash instead of Java, has improved particle details, and has significantly faster load times. The best part is that Pandaren have been added to the race options!

We added dynamic quest reward selection to our Mists of Pandaria database, since Blizzard is changing quest rewards to be automatically chosen for players based on their class and spec.

Pet battle data, including wild pets and all pet abilities, is a new section in the Mists of Pandaria database.

We teamed up with our friends at WoWInterface to bring you a featured AddOn of the Week--highlighted in our news roundups.

All official guides were updated for 4.3--most notably, transmog ones. All zone pages now have information as well.

It was a quiet time for blue posts after the holidays and 4.3's launch, but we passed the time with a series of giveaways and guides from TCG vanity items to transportation options.

We released a Portugese version of Wowhead, to coincide with the launch of WoW Brazil.

A new transmog feature was launched: a color sorter allowing you to search for armor by similar colors. Big thanks to Mogit's creators for helping us out! Either type in a hexadecimal color code or click on the square to the left to change the color, hue, or saturation. You'll then get a list of items that include that hue. If you don't care about your set having matching details, but really want a specific color scheme, this tool is perfect for you.

SW:TOR went live and with it came our sister database, Torhead!

We've added a Monk Class Forum to discuss Mists of Pandaria's new class.

Our first massive transmog feature was unveiled: a database of all matching items in the game--currently numbering over 1000 sets. We added image browsing in addition to list browsing--there are two tabs, it's the default one. Our reasoning was that you probably want to be able to see the set before clicking on it, if you're one of those visual oriented players. Second, we added a lot of new sets including resistance sets, look-alike tiers, and more. From troll heroic epics to BoE greens, we've got the matching set of armor for you!

Patch 4.3: Hour of Twilight hit, and we provided you with a series of new guides: the 4.3 Patch Day Guide, Gearing up in 4.3 Guide, and the Darkmoon Faire Preview Guide, to name a few.

We rounded up all the coverage from Mists of Pandaria to launch our preliminary 5.0 guide covering all aspects of the new expansion from Pet Battles to Monks.

The comment system got revamped. We changed the default sorting order, the up/down vote layout, and comment/reply layout. This new system will make voting easier and discouraging abusing downvotes to build reputation. Our devs are constantly tweaking this system based on user feedback, which you can read about on their blog.

October 2011

BlizzCon 2011 took place October 21-22 and with it came a slew of news coverage--featuring live blogs and summarizes of all the panels, a sneak peak at the Mists of Pandaria demo, and interviews with Blizzard staff.

The first part of our 'Same Model As' transmog feature was released: a guide to all 1000+ capes, organized by identical designs. The expanded version of the feature, for all armor slots, is scheduled for early 2012.

We launched the first working version of the 5.0 Talent Calculator mere hours after it was first previewed at BlizzCon. Come create sample talent trees in anticipation of the massive talent changes in Mists of Pandaria!

Following the success of our weekend and holiday guides, we launched a new site feature: a user-based guide section. Users can submit guides on a variety of WoW topics, which is a great way to share your favorite aspect of WoW and get some additional blog traffic! So far, we've had everything from class guides by prominent bloggers to quirky profession write-ups.

Transmogrification was announced for 4.3: we got right on the bandwagon with planning new site features and releasing a popular series of Transmog guides: Tier Sets, Unique Items, Look-Alike Tier, Matching Greens.

We're now collecting and displaying Titles -- in addition to the existing quests, recipes, mounts, and companions.

The Mounts and Companions tabs now display source information at a glance.

If your character bookmark is flagged as private, the completion data you uploaded will now only be visible to you.

The Achievements tab now defaults to showing your most recently completed achievements.

Entries which are complete but excluded are now marked with a star.

Profiler

The Profiler now automatically pulls your character's face, skin, hair, and other physical characteristics from the Armory.

We've standardized the gear scores for enchantments. They should be a little more realistic now.

You can now expand all of the statistics with one convenient button, preventing you from having to read them individually in mouseover.

Wowhead Client

The program now has an option to disable the uploading of character data entirely.

The Wowhead Looter addon now gives more verbose messages when it correctly (or incorrectly) gathers character data. These messages have a limit on the number of times they can be displayed, but if you want to disable them altogether you can type /wl nospam.

Other

We have composed an awesome Cataclysm Guide which includes loads of new information and details about the upcoming expansion!

We noticed that some of the articles we had up on boss pages etc. were getting long, so we moved them to their own Article tab.

Comment ratings are now clickable to display the breakdown of positive versus negative moderations!

Searches that yield no results are now enhanced by Google's Did You Mean functionality.

You can now view 3D models for any items straight from a listing! You can even select multiple items at once and view them all on the same model! Simply check the items you're interested in and click the "View in 3D" button.

Class names in the Item Sets section are now colorized!

Clicking the event name in tooltips for event-specific items will now take you to the corresponding world event page.

Item filters have been cleaned up a bit. The Class-specific and Race-specific filters have been taken out of the main filters and moved to the filter dropdown. You can now use Usable by and Side filters to do your "Available to class/faction" filtering.

You can now search for blog posts tagged with multiple tags.

Heroic items are now denoted as such in item listings.

With all these new achievements, we decided there should be a way to see where the shiny titles were coming from!

Starter spells are now flagged as such in their Quick Facts box.

The site now fully supports all FOUR raid dungeon modes—Normal 10, Normal 25, Heroic 10, and Heroic 25. 25 man raids are accordingly no longer referred to as "Heroic". We've also added filters for Normal and Heroic instances.

The filters now support Heroic items.

We've pulled down the News & Announcements page and the Under Development page, replacing them with the Wowhead Blog and the What's New page you're on now!

You can now filter comments by patch! Just click the dropdown at the top of the Comments tab and select a patch to show only comments posted during that patch. Patches that have no comments won't be listed in the dropdown.

You now have access to the Unrated Comments page! This will show you all comments that haven't yet been rated, giving you the first opportunity to filter out the useless comments, and rate up the good ones.

The 'Hide/Show pins' button on the map interface is now an actual button, instead of a mere link.

The Profiler now has a convenient "print" function, for easy offline storage of your character's inventory (or theoretical inventory).

Thanks to some generous help from the folks at Rawr and at Elitist Jerks, our stat weighting presets have been updated for Wrath of the Lich King. Go give them a try!

Our stat weighting system now allows you to group items by slot, for a comprehensive list of the best gear available.

The filters on our item pages have been cleaned up! We've replaced the Physical and Spells categories with a simpler Offensive and Defensive section. We've also moved some of the more rarely used filters down to the "Miscellaneous" category.

We've consolidated all the combat ratings down to a single stat, so melee/ranged/spell ratings are no longer listed separately. For finding the few items that grant one type without granting another (like the Netherstrand Longbow), the individual sub-stats are listed on the filters in a separate section.

Since hit rating uses a different coefficient for spells and for melee, we've changed the system so that it shows the spell coefficient for items with spell power on them, and the melee coefficient otherwise.

We've added glyph type and class filters to the Inscription profession listing.

Our Wrath of the Lich King site is now live!

Pet Calculator: Now you can create sample builds for your pets the same way you do with talents!

Pet Comparison: We now have a "Pets" category for hunters, which lists all the pet families and includes their relative statistics to make choosing easier. Each pet type now has its own page, with room for comments, screenshots, and a complete 3D gallery showing all the different pets of that type!

Now you can order the items in a filtered list based on an item score you can customize yourself, effectively producing a list of the best items per your weights! Just click the "Create a weight scale" link to open up the weighting UI.

You can now perform quick searches within search results, filtered lists, or any listing really! The quick search includes not only the name of the item, but also everything that is visible! A search within this listing for "70 pvp" will return any items that have those keywords in any column. Please note that as the label in the search box implies, this will only search within displayed results, and as such is most effective if what you are looking for is within these results.

Now you can filter the results of an individual column! Just right click on the column header, enter a search term, and it will show only results that contain those terms. For instance, you may want to filter your class' skill list to only display abilities for certain levels.

The Source column for items now has more detailed information. For instance, you can now see what specific NPC drops or sells the item you're looking for, and what zone the NPC is in, without a separate page load!

Each stat that is filtered for is now added as an additional column in the results, which you can sort by or filter for.

The Wowhead Client is now available for Mac OS X!

Seasonal quests have now been sorted by holiday! You can now check out each individual holiday category here.

Weapons and Armor filters will now only show the relevant slots. For example, creating a filter in the daggers category will only show main-hand, one-hand, and off-hand slots.

Wowhead now has a screenshot viewer! Now, rather than taking you to a whole new page to see a screenshot, the screenshot will pop up in a convenient lightbox, tailored to fit the size of your browser window. You can even link directly to a screenshot just by copying and pasting a URL!

The live search has been changed to accept 1 and 2 letter search terms. Now even 'a' will return results! It now also identifies alliance or horde quests by their respective faction icons.

The talents in the talent calculator now link to the actual spell pages when the talent calculator is locked.

The Powered script now supports links pointing to the localized sites.

Object models are now supported by the model viewer.

The search engine has been improved to provide greater ease in searching. It is now much simpler to search for terms with hyphens or apostrophes in them.

A new "Same model as" tab is now available on select item and NPC pages. The tab contains other items or NPCs that share the same model!

Check out the new abilities tab! You can now look at any NPC on on Wowhead and see exactly what abilities that NPC uses. There are still a very few NPCs that don't have ability information -- this will fill in as we get more dataz from the Wowhead Client.

The Wowhead model viewer has now been updated! You can now view 3d models for armor pieces, item sets, and humanoid NPCs! You can even change the race and gender you want them displayed on, and the model viewer will remember what you selected!

Wowhead, and all sites powered thereby, will now sport tooltips for quests in addition to the existing tooltips for spells and items. Try it out!

The 3D Model Viewer has been updated! Not only is it faster than ever, it now features support for mounts of all types, small pets, and some non-combat pets. We've also changed it to display in the same window, instead of in an annoying pop-up. If you have any issues, please report them here!

Dynamic Searching! Now, as you're trying to remember the name of that item you were looking for, Wowhead will offer suggestions! This also works on the Browser Search Plugins, though users will have to remove and re-add their plugin before the new functionality is active.

You can now use Wowhead to generate in-game item links! This works for recipes as well.

We've added Baseline Filters to the site! This will allow you to create a search that returns items from multiple different subcategories at once. For example, you can do a search that return leather and mail items but not plate or cloth, or show potions and flasks but not scrolls, or even axes and swords but not maces. Try it out!

Personal arena rating requirements are now displayed in item tooltips.

We've added a new filter for items: Requires a personal arena rating.

We've updated the site to support the new architecture Blizzard is using for PvP reward costs. Season 1 and 2 costs should be correctly updated now.

Mini boxes have sprouted throughout the site!

We've added Item Ratings to the site! The percentages default to either the listed minimum level of the item, or (in the case of quest items) the level of the quest that awards the item. However, you can click on the percentage listed to enter in a different level.

We've also fixed the spell damage and healing filters to correspond to the 2.3 changes. Try it and see!

You can now increase the level cap to 80, for those of you wanting to experiment with builds for the new expansion!

The calculator now has a "Lock/Unlock" button, to prevent accidental changes. Also, when you follow a link to a build, the talent calculator will be locked by default, making it much easier to read non max-level builds.

We've improved the layout so it's more convenient (e.g. resetting a specific tree has never been so simple).

Select formatting features have been introduced to comments. You can now italicize or bold parts of your comments to make them stand out. Comments may also have links with custom display text defined, and you now have the ability to display bulleted or numbered lists.

Comments can now be sorted by "Highest rated first" in addition to the default sort order (by Date).

You can now edit and/or delete your own comments at any time.

When clicking on a link that takes you directly to a comment in Wowhead, the comment will be highlighted to make it easier to find.

A preview pane has been added for users to preview their comments.

An 'Expand' link has been added to the comments box, for the longwinded posters among us :)

Quest listings will now display a column describing the rewards for completing the quest.

Item listings will now show the level required to use the item as well as how the item is obtained (labeled as 'Source').

Pet skills will now display the training points required to learn the appropriate skill.

Faction-specific items lists now display a column indicating the reputation level that is required to purchase the item.

Weapon lists will now allow you to click on the data in the "type" column to view a list of items within that category.

The number of results per page was increased in several listing types throughout the site.

Items: Fishing locations, drops stack (e.g. Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin can drop between 50 and 200 Doomshot arrows)

NPCs: Health, Mana, Faction, Pick pocketing

Quests: Progress, Completition, Timer, Sharable

Spells: Required skill level for professions and secondary skills, Training cost, Taught by (trainers)

Added a new option that lets you specify whether your search should match "All filters" or "At least one."

Items: Usable by, Requires reputation with a faction, Damage type (useful when looking for Nature damage wands, for instance), Obtained through disenchanting, fishing, herb gathering, item opening, looting, mining, object opening, pock pocketing or skinning

NPCs: Health, Mana, Faction, Starts a quest, Ends a quest, Lootable, Skinnable, Pick pocketable, Average money dropped

Objects: Starts a quest, Ends a quest, Openable, Average money contained

Quests: Timer, Sharable, First in a chain
