Inside the cave, completely soloable as a hunter. Clear your way in, slap on cheetah and just kite away. He's fairly slow and the only difficult part will be making sure you don't run into more mobs.

Otherwise, an easy hunter kill. You can make the kite shorter by bringing mana pots as a BM hunter (mend pet/arcane spam) and taking him down as much as possible before kiting.

Solo'd as 62 Warlock.

Simply cleared out the cave he is in first, sent my VW in, DoTed him up and proceeded to DrainTank him when VW lost aggro. Things got kinda close once (no Healthstone ready, doh) - sacrificed VW and finished Blacktalon off while bubbled.

62 druid, soloed, used one healing pot.

If you're gonna try equip tanking gear. Cast regrowth & rejuv on yourself before charging. Other alternative is start in cat with pounce/mangle/rake/5 point rip after that switch to bear.

Get a full rage bar for frenzied regen then hit it when you're around 30% HP. After that if you started to get low again hit bash, and shift healing touch/rejuv/regrowth again if needed (I used healing pot instead of HT :)). If you're running low a third time use whatever healing consumables you have - whipper root, healing pot etc.

Soloed him as a 70 fire mage. Didn't realize til the fight started that I was out of health pots hehe, killed him with about 70hp to spare. He'd be a joke for a frost mage, though.

Just solo'd it as a 61 affliction spec'd lock. I cleared out all of the alphas' in the cave, sent in my succy, dot'd him up then chainfeared and re-dot'd constantly until he was down to 2k hp or so, then draintanked him to death. Overall a very clean fight. Very solo'able at 61-62 as a lock.

Wasn't too difficult this one, I brought a friend along and we killed him quite fast. Don't let him get to the clothies though, or you will be in trouble. Tried to solo at lvl 61 elemental shaman, but that didn't work too well.

Most classes cannot solo mobs with the exception of the following:
Mages
Warlocks
Priests
Druids
Hunters
Shamans
Paladins

If you're one of those exceptions and decently skilled feel free to solo at 60+. Otherwise, nab a party for this one.

Soloed as a lv 60 frost mage. kited it about a bit switching between my elementals freeze and my frost nova, aswel as a fully specced frostbite. used cold snap, but didnt even lose half my health bar.

Did this at level 60 as a feral druid with a 60 shadow priest healing. Killed 2 of the mobs near it in the cave to prevent adds, then led with pounce/mangle/mangle/rip to build aggro and damage, and tanked it to death in bear form. Keeping demo roar up really helps the incoming damage, and I had to bash/innervate my healer about halfway through. All in all, pretty easy, but expect to use your cooldown abilities. Also, I popped the charm of alacrity (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=25787) to mitigate some more damage, and used frenzied regeneration once. Tried soloing it as a 60, but that was a serious no-go, too many crushing blows.

I managed to tank this 63 elite with my 61 human warrior with a priest as healer. Was not as easy as I thought because there was 2 other monsters (nonelites) hiding and i had to deal with all that aggro.

Try this quest with caution.. bring at least 3 to make it easier..

Duoed without any difficulty whatsoever. 61 Fire Mage with a 61 Holy Paladin. Just have to make good use of your skills, frost nova, Dragon's Breath, etc. Relatively simple.

Solo'd lvl 61 Feral Druid. Wasn't easy though.

Blew my cooldowns early so I could use them again. First attempt I started as cat, switched to bear with a rejuvenation between and used my Frenzied Regeneration when I was taking too much of a beating. I died when all my abilities/pots were cooling and mana was low, he was at around 10%.

Went back and started as Bear.
60% health, Frenzied Regeneration.
40% health, bash, out of form, heal, Bear form.
40% health, out of form, Barkskin, heal, Innervate, Bear form. (should have potted before innervate)
40% health, Bash, out of form, heal, Bear form.
40% health, out of form, barkskin, heal, mana pot, Bear form.
......

I did 2 Frenzied Regenerations, 2 or 3 Bashes, 2 or 3 Barkskins, 1 Superior Mana Potion.

This is the jist of the fight. Maybe I had less Crushing blows, maybe I got lucky.

In Bear form;
9975 armor
7027 health
120.5 DPS/23.4 crit
3642 mana when out of form

Was a fun fight!! 2 attempts :-)

Not as bad as Vile Priestess Hexx was though. I didn't beat her solo until I was 3 levels over her and in full healing gear to keep up with her healing. And then she runs off to aggro more mobs!! Moonfire spam ftw.

Edit - I pulled Blacktalon with a Faerie Fire to where the first 2 mobs in the cave were and fought him there.

I did just solo this quest as a 61 frost mage, had to use both elementals as the first one got battered to hell lol. But you are able to frost nova the boss but i basically just let my pet get aggro at first then just run back and fowards in and out the room when he started chasing me, as to allow the pet to get more aggro from him, And use frost nova when ever available.
But dont be scared of him :) you can do it Frosty's.

For feral druids to get feral charge range, and anyone else who wants to get a bit of range for a second....

There's a pile of bones just outside the cave to the right, he seems incapable of walking over them. If you get him on one side, then jump over the bones he'll take the long way around. This can get you some time to get to charge range.

I did it quite easily solo as Hunter. I basically did as previously mention, using mend pet. Used a mana pot when my mana got at about 50%. What I did was clear a way to it, made sure my Raptor was at 100%, sent it in, cycled mendpet twice, hit it with concussive,serpent sting,arcane,then aimed shot. Then cycled mendpet twice and repeated it over and over - using the manapot when my mana got to 50%. I was getting a bit worried because it took a while - afraid the flayers I killed on the way in were gonna respawn. They didnt. After the flayer was dead, my raptor had enough left in him to kill the flayerwhich was to the left of the R.F.M. (with a little help from me of course :D )

i completed this as a level 60 marksman ,solo, it took me 2 tries
but he is not so strong, but if u are a hunter u need a pet with lots of armor utherwise u will wind up dead
Tip:when u are low on mana first Mend Pet ,then Feign Death and
drink something to regen youre mana and start shooting at elite.

She may not be super strong, but she has quite a bit of health. 27,000 to be exact. So, doing it solo at any lvl will take quite a bit of time. The vital elements are patience and focus. As long as you have those, it's fairly simple.

Pretty easy solo as a 60 moonkin druid. Cleared the tunnel up to her, then pulled her with insect swarm back outside to the cave entrance. Exiting the cave to the right, along the hillside, is a fairly good clear run area. Was just a matter of keeping her rooted with insect swarm on her til she died. She hits fairly hard so best to stay at max root range and be ready to reroot if it breaks. Took a few minutes but it was a slow steady way of killing her.

If you are a feral druid, you can solo this. Though she has 27405hp, she doesn't hit hard. I soloed it at 62 with a bash and heal. Take a mana pot, keep barkskin in reserve and heal early, and you'll be fine. (My gear is not good)

Soloed this as a 61 affliction spec'd warlock. Took 2 trys though. Typically when I take elite mobs I go with the whole fear lock bit so I use my imp. Unfortunately there are quite a few places that Blacktalon will run that will be out of your line of sight, making it take longer with the imp then it does to use your voidy as a tank /back up bubble. Needless to say, imp didn't work the first try so I went voidy the second. I didn't have to bubble, just kept up my dots and kept Blacktalon feared, just make sure you clear the adds and have a healthstone for emergancy ;]

Soloed her as a 61 Death Knight. For all of those who are on beta like myself, I used bone armor (I'm specced unholy) Raise Dead, Summon Gargoyle and Lichborn. Got her down pretty quick.. She did end up killing me but I specced into Shadow of Death so when I died, I came back to life as a ghoul and finished her. Also used a health pot.

this quest is very NOT soloable for a 61 ret paladin. I got owned, really fast and barely dented her HP. Idk if any other classs/specs can do this, but if you're a ret like me, get a group..or better, a friendly 70 :D

Very easily soloed as a 61 BM hunter w/ gorilla pet... used AotV for mana regen and aggro and kept mend pet up. I never got touched and pet never went below 75%. Slow, but easy fight.

I had previously attempted to complete this quest solo as both a Beast Master specced Hunter and a Shadow Priest. On both toons I go owned...repeatedly. However, I just completed this quest solo as a level 61 Human Death Knight specced as Unholy in the regular blue gear I got when I completed the DK quests. I must admit that I potted once. That wouldn't have been necessary had I clear ALL the adds in the cave. Unfortunately, I missed one. Both my Ghoul and I survived. Death Knights are awesome.

Well, i think this quest is soloable if you keep focus... Soloed as lvl 60 retri pala with no use of shield or lay on hands.... He has a lot of health, but kinda low damage..

Just solo'd as a 61 blood spec Death Knight.
Used Dancing Rune Weapon and my ghoul to kill him.
Had to use Rune Tap and Death Strike quite a few times to keep over half hp but no need for pots.
Killed quite easily.
I'd highly recommend killing any mobs in the area first that may join in.

Solo'd this quest as a 61 Draenei Death Knight blood spec with the starting blues, no ghoul, didn't need any pots, just used Mark of Blood and kept rotating through Icy Touch, Plague, Death and blood strikes and Death coil, then Strangulate when she was at about 50%. When I got into the cave there was a mob to her left which I was able to snatch out with Death grip and kill, and there was one to the right almost behind her. I snatched her out to me without pulling the add and it took me less than 2 minutes to kill her.
I'm pretty sure my enhance Shaman would have needed to be at least 64 to try taking her down solo.

Solo'd as a lvl 60 elemental shaman, use Stoneskin totem, Totem of wrath and Mana spring, keep Water shield up at all times and use Thunderstorm eveytime it is up, Keep yourself healed and throw some Bolts inbetween heals.
took a while but saves the trouble finding a group

Soload as a 61lv ret paladin in quest greens and blues. It was long and fun fight. Had to use LoH at the end. Heal often is the key and use seal of wisdom to keep mana going.

Easy as pie solo Afflock lvl 61.

Cave entrance is at 34,62
Clear out the cave first, and check the outside before you engage. I picked up one add, but you could pick up a lot of trouble if you kite outside and you are not prepared.

I used the voidwalker but imp is probably a better choice. The VW made kiting out of the cave a bit easier but I don't think it makes a difference. DOT and fear, rince and repeat. Finished full health, 75% mana and about a 75% VW. I am gaining more respect for locks. ;)

Slightly harder than Drill the Drillmaster, but still solo-able as a level 61 Protadin. I had to pop LoH for this one, but I managed to get her in the end.

The plate gauntlets are a pretty good reward for any Ret or Prot pally - they give Stam, Str, and Agi, which is both useful for Ret (crit chance) and Prot (armor).

Solo'd pretty easily as a lvl61 ret pally. Had to bubble once to gain enough time to heal so she wouldn't kill me.

Make sure to use Judgement of Light and Seal of Light, that way you should only have to heal once or twice. Then just do the regular old ret pally shizz.

Soloed as a 61 frost mage. Elemental / spam frostbolt. Had to run once or twice to wait for ice barrier cooldown but not a hard fight. Killed her 3 times and wasn't able to loot anything. Anyone else see this bug?

Managed to solo as a 64 arms warrior with BOA chest, shoulders, and weapon. I probably could have done it at 63 but I kept hoping to find someone else to do it with. Popped bladestorm, kept spamming Overpower when it was up and Slam when it wasn't.

Soloed as a 61 Feral druid.

Killed the 3 mobs around him. Switched to bear form, attacked, when i was on 50% health, i used healing touch 4-5 times (got the gylph that does its a 1.5 cast) , and took the 2 other healing spells on me, so i got healed while i were fighting. Continued in bear form, and did that 3-4 times.

Teamed up with a friend a Level 63 Pally and myself Level 63 Warrior, was a cake walk, i kept the threat on myself and basically devastated and thunder clapped the hell out of her with a sprinkle of shockwave and shield slam. Did it under 1 minute.

just did this as a 62 ele shammy in mostly instance blues with wrath/healing/stoneskin totems.

chain lightning, lightning bolt and then alternated lesser healing (when needed) and chain lightning. no pots needed. very easy

Just soloed as a 62 enh shaman with heirlooms. First i popped my spirit wolves then my trinket, then Shamanistic Rage. The wolves kept me healed and they died when he was about 5% health.

EDIT: Just managed to do it. I pulled it with my wand. Then, I let my Fel Guard get agro on it. At about 50% fel guard lost agro so i feared, re DoTed, and drained life. After the fear wore off i death coiled and my pet got agro again. Then just spammed shadow bolt.

Easy for a lvl 62 Blood DK (in DK starter gear). Didn't need a ghoul, pots, CDs, or anything. Just Frost Presence, keep diseases up, Heart Strike for DPS, and Death Strike when you drop below 90% health.

earlier today i soloed this quest with my 68 DK was close to dying but was able to use a health up it is definitely not a quest to try and solo without being at least level 65 or higher. my DK is a mix of blood and frost and i mostly used obliterate and death strike also if anyone wants to do the quest it is wise to clear the mobs inside the caves first i was able to death grip them all to me one at a time and kill them without alerting the boss.

Is it just me or have things gotten much easier since patch 4.0? I soloed her as a 62 frost mage. I cleared out the cave, used my water minion to draw her attention then hit Mirror Image and kept spamming Arcane Blast. I was done in under 30 seconds.

Level 62 protection warrior here with about 7100 health, soloed on first try. Took one potion to make sure I didn't get too close to death but by the time I killed it, I would have survived without it.

Took out the other mobs near the boss one at a time by luring them out with a shot from a bow. When they were gone, as others said -- patience and discipline. Keep an eye on the health bar of you and the boss to see how much (if any) "help" from potions and such you may need.

In my case, it was just a lot of shield slam (sword and board helps a lot here) and revenge when ready, devastate, rend and thunderclapping as much as I could along the way. In particular I made sure to shield slam and revenge whenever I had the chance.

Just solo'd this as a level 62 shadow priest. Never went below 90% health with no heals. I Kept up my Power Word: Shield, and refreshed my DOT's once. Otherwise I kept hitting her with Mind flay and Mind Blast. She went down relatively easy.

Soloed first try with my Level 63 Balance Druid, Keep DOT's active and just watch the health meter and have plenty of Mana on hand and spam away with Wrath. Helps a lot if you have Glyphs of Insect Swarm and Wrath as well.

Very soloable as 63 protection warrior. Used no cooldowns (not even Shield Block) and no consumables. I advise attacking her as soon as you finish off the other flayers in the cave, so that you start with a full rage bar, though you will not be rage starved during this fight. Additionally, attacking her straight out of combat with the other flayers will leave Victory Rush (and possibly Impending Victory as well) available, so you can cash in on a free 20% (or 25%) heal early in the fight.

Thunder Clap is useful to slow her attacks somewhat, reducing her damage output. Apart from that, there is nothing special to take note of. She is stunnable, so you can use Concussion Blow and bandage if you are having trouble. Charge will also work to stun her and give you a few seconds to put up Rend and Thunder Clap. If you are worried about the fight, I recommend carrying a healing potion as a last resort (Last Stand and Shield Wall should keep you alive through it even without a potion).

This was a very simple quest for me. Coords are right on. The cave is on the ground. I am a 61 Discipline Priest and had no probs.I was in and out of there in less than 5 mins. Happy Hunting! :)

1. The Rock Flayer Matriarch
• Accept The Rock Flayer Matriarch from Ikan at coords 23.0, 40.2 (Temple of Telhamat).
• Travel southeast to a cave whose entrance is located at coords 34.7, 62.9.
• Enter the cave and follow that to coords 33.4, 64.8.
• Kill Blacktalon the Savage, and loot the Blacktalon's Claws from its corpse.
• Exit the cave and travel northwest to the Temple of Telhamat, to coords 23.0, 40.2.
• Turn in the quest to Ikan.

Trivial fight now--it took about 5 seconds of solo fighting. The respawn timer is fairly long (about 5 minutes) so be prepared to wait a bit if she isn't there when you arrive. If you are at the back of the cave where the blue circle on your mini-map shows, you are in the right place.

Rock flayers are mean, nasty, violent creatures. But the plain ones are like tame beasts when compared to their matriarch, Blacktalon the Savage.

My cousin got eaten by her and it wasn't pretty. I swore that one day Blacktalon would pay for that. You bring back proof of that monster's death and I will give you my life's savings. Deal?
