Just like the tauren spirit guide quest, you summon a spirit wolf near the dead fel orc's body from the quest "The Assassin" and you follow it all the way upto Mag'har Post directly north of where you stand.

This is a really easy quest, just follow the dog - I don't even think there are any mobs that will aggro you on the way. It's worth noting however, that on my server at least, the Horde and the Alliance are no longer letting each other quest, so this quest in particular, given its popularity, is worth taking a buddy or two on if you can't stealth past the opposite faction, as you're bound to run into plenty of them.

As everyone stated easy quest, IDK but I couldn't finish it the first time.

I went to click Complete Quest and got nothing, so I had to abandon the quest and start over, annoying but in the end no problems.

Ok, as a 60 Tauren Shammy here what I found -

i have found fel orc corpse,but i can't summon the wolf anywhere.BUT i have found an ODD THING=the wolf i haven't summoned exists in another place, but he dosn't do anything,just stands!check out the scrrenshots

Some important facts:

You can not just ride up to deliver the quest.
You can not just spawn the Wolf Spirit and run up to deliver it.
You are at 7500 Unfriendly with The Mag'har before completing this quest (rendering you unable to interact with the faction).
You need to follow the Wolf.

You need to go to 33.6, 43.6 and spawn the Ancestral Spirit Wolf using Ancestral Spirit Wolf Totem. Then follow it because it gives you Guided by the Spirits, a buff that makes you Friendly with The Mag'har. Once you deliver the quest you gain 700 reputation, that makes you 200/8000 Neutral with the faction, thus making you able to continue questing for them in Nagrand later on.

go to 34.44 and use http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23669. After that follow the wolf to a 32.28. There you must talk with http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=16845. It's all :)

I can't stress how much time mounting at the beginning of this quest saves you time. If you are like me and have seen HFP enough to not need the "scenic ghost wolf tour". Do yourself a favor and mount when you use the totem =D

A tip for PvP servers, Alliance has quests there to kill the Maghar grunts near the front of the Post, so be prepared.

Not only does the wolf's run speed increase when you mount up, but it appears to increase if you lead him. At least his animation does.

Try it.

When you lead him by several paces, it runs at a full gallop. But if you're behind him or maybe even next to him... He just kind of walks quickly.

Again it could just be his animation... Either way - I stay ahead of him :] Just incase.

Warning. If you have not done this before raising your rep with the Mag'Har in other ways, it WILL reset your rep to Unfriendly.

When I rode up, the Mag'har were green (Friendly), and when I turned in the quest to the Mag'har chief, they turned orange (Unfriendly).

you need to find fel orc corpse http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=17062. And when you are there you have to use the Ancestral spirit wolf totem http://www.wowhead.com/?item=23669. then a transparant wolf come alive and you need to follow it to Mag'har Post and then you see the npc that you give the quest to.

I find it quite amusing that the Mag'har orcs appear as friendly when in the aura and unfriendly when not in it. I thought it was a bug because the name plates shifted between green and orange all the time, until I noticed it was the aura. I know it's obvious that it is like this, but I still find it quite funny.

Does anyone know if this guy is tameable as an Alliance hunter?

You would have to coordinate with a Horde friend who had the quest but it would be pretty cool to find out.

Edit: with some searching I found this Ancestral Spirit Wolf ... even though it's a beast it's untameable. Shame.

Easy quest, just go to the body that you just located at the coordinates other people have specified. Then follow this turtle speed walking wolf up to the camp.

Just an update for anyone just tuning in as of 4.0.6. You still have to walk the entire way with the wolf, you cant run ahead, and he wont go faster if you mount up anymore. Also, if you just run to the quest target and wait, the wolf appears to despawn, and you'll have to start over.

And, finally, quest is still a dead end, the quest hub appears to be defunct, but does pop you straight up to neutral with the mag'har.

EDIT: As of 4.2, this quest now has a followup that sends you back to Thrallmar.

Ok so I tried this quest for the 3rd time. When you accept the quest it puts the totem in one of your bag slots. There isn't a item icon with this like there normaly is when an item is givin to bye its giver.

This quest was sooo confusing but managed to complete it with the help of Wowhead! The corpse is not where the (?) is, but here Fel Orc Corpse . Also the corpse just says 'Fel Orc Corpse' which confused me further. But if you rightclick on the totem in your bag at this point, the wolf appears for a very slow walk up the hill to (?). It's a bit tedious but the XP is worth it. And the wolf looks kinda cool.

as of 12-20-11 if you move away from wolf to fast you lose buff. so wolf spirit does not match your speed.
i think the WOLF has to stop and piss on every bush along the way.

Once summoned, the Ancestral Spirit Wolf gives the Guided by the Spirits buff, which makes you friendly with The Mag'har. The range is only 30 yards. If you get out of range, you loose the buff. If you get back within range quickly, it will be recast, but according to other comments, the spirit wolf will despawn if you are out of range long enough. Without the buff, you will be unfriendly and unable to interact with the Mag'har to complete the quest, but they won't attack you. The rep gained from the quest makes you neutral.

The spirit wolf just ignores hostile mobs (and they ignore it), so you should probably just avoid them if they aren't an easy kill for you. There are only a couple along the way, though. Mostly, it's just a slow walk.

This quest is part of a very long series of quests crossing several zones that involve Orc lore. See this comment for details. Many quests are out-of-date (Garrosh is a Mag'har quest giver in Nagrand, for example), but they are interesting from a historical perspective. A couple of quests listed there no longer exist, but most do. It's no longer possible to reach Exalted just by doing the remaining quests, though.

I suppose I'll be the third person to say: Do NOT follow the quest helper to the location of Krun Spinebreaker's body, because the yellow "?" is right in the center of Mag'Har post, quite far away from the corpse's actual location. Fel Orc Corpse gives you the actual location of the body. Yes, even though it's labeled as your generic fel orc, it's the body of Krun Spinebreaker.

Just confirming that this quest is now an idiot.

Back in WotLK (I think), the wolf scaled to your speed. If you mounted up and ran ahead, it took the hint and sped up. Now it just walks stupidly slow.

In addition, it despawns VERY quickly once it arrives at the orcs, so you have to turn in the quest very fast. It also despawns if you get distracted and get too far ahead or behind, which you are freaking bound to do if this is your 10th time through Hellfire and the thing is moving at a snail's pace. Very stupid, imo.

I've redone this 3x now... I get where I need to be with that (slow) wolf, but, I simply cannot hand the quest in. Shows done, and if I drop the quest and retake it, it automatically says complete. I follow the wolf to the NPC, she says something, then we all just kinda stand there. Clicked on everyone but... just can't hand it in and get my rep points. :S

If you lost track of the location of the corpse after the Assassin, this is how to find it.

Go north from the stadium to the edge of the mountains, and look for him in a nook in the mountains a little your west. Probably behind several boars.

With an army of alts this quest and the one that you do before you choose Aldor/Scryer in Shattrah are quite tedious. I'd suggest anyone else frustrated by these quests to submit a suggestion via the in-game help menu to the developers to change these quests to auto-complete when started so you can turn in immediately and skip the content if you've already done it 15 times or so like I have. I think with enough feedback they'll take the time to make these quests more enjoyable in the future.

If you plan on questing in Nagrand, make sure you complete this quest. It's required to get out of Unfriendly rep with the Mag'har, which is needed for nearly every quest in that zone. I had to backtrack to HFP to do this after finding that none of the quests in Nagrand were available, besides the Consortium and Hemet Nesingwary ones.

Don't go to the ? on the map. As of right now you are not friendly with the Mag'Har. Found the body at 33.7, 43.5. Call on the spirit and follow it up the mountain.

If you don't have cords...from The Stadium head north to the foot of the mountains. From there head west until you find the body.

I really dislike quests like this one. Why? Because it takes forever to finish and there's nothing you can do to make it go any faster. I dislike escort quests in general, but I thought Blizzard had gone in and sped up a lot of them by making the NPCs move faster? I guess either they missed this one or they increased it and then later decreased it again. On top of that, if you get too far from the wolf, it despawns and you have to start all over. If you don't have the wolf with you when you get to the quest NPC, you can't turn it in. If you wait too long to turn it in (say you are reading the quest text for example), it'll despawn and you can't turn it in. This is bad design IMO and just serves to fustrate players. I realize this is a MMO and MMOs take some degree of work, but this isn't work, this is just a tedious task. Games are meant to be fun. Repeating this quest multiple times on the same character because of bad design choices isn't fun IMO. YMMV.

Summary & tips :
1. The corpse is at 33.62 43.53
2. You have to activate the totem from your bags.
3. This is an escort quest with a slow moving NPC (Spirit Wolf).
4. Stay within range of the Spirit Wolf or it will despawn and you'll have to start again from placing the totem.
5. You can only hand in while the Spirit Wolf is near Gorkan Bloodfist (@ 32.01 27.79)
6. If you don't hand in and the Spirit Wolf despawns, you will have to restart (placing the totem).
7. I suggest a target marker on the Spirit Wolf to help keep track of it. I use the moon as it contrasts with Hellfire Peninsula's red scenery.

Do not follow some other player's Ancestral Spirit Wolf. It won't let you finish the quest. You have to summon your own.

Thankfully, WoW has largely moved past this particular escort design. But for all the ones like this that remains, there is one little piece of trivia that may help:

They move at backwards speed.

So if such a thing appeals to you, pace the escort by walking backwards. If it gets a little too far ahead, flip around and catch up, but for the most part you'll be at the right speed.

So, if some alliance degenerate decides to kill the orc you need to turn this quest in - you're @#$%ed because you won't be able to turn it in and, after a minute of waiting, wolf just dissapears and you have to do whole quest again.

And the worst part: I can't kill this moron because the game does not count these mobs as PvP.

A Spirit Guide

Use the Wolf Totem at the location where you found Krun Spinebreaker's body and follow the Ancestral Spirit Wolf.
