Got stuck on 50% after beating the Hacklung, Facebreaker, and Charfang trio.
Waited about for around 10 minutes then decided to drop the quest and pick it back up again, this DID NOT fix it and instead re-phased me to the surrounding spectators still yelling the trio's names but with 0% quest completion.
Edit: Third time abandoning was the charm, it restarted the event, would recommend.

after all the previous Cave Boss fights, this was last. I soloed the first, used my Earth El for fight 2 and 3, third fight was against 3, 4th fight solo, easy small guy, didnt pack a punch...heal up during, interupt spells, Great Rewards GL

Here's a tip if you are having trouble soloing this quest. Kill the first and second rounds then get out of the circle. This way you can pull the 3 mobs one by one easily. Alternatively, you can wait for them to despawn and kill the first two rounds again for the percentage.

If your progress bar is stuck, don't abandon! What jols said worked for me as well. Got stuck at 50% so I flew to Iskaara for a few minutes, turned in some quests and came back to the ring. Didn't lose my progress, repeated the same 3 sets (Spineripper, Deathwind, Charfang/Hacklung/Facebreaker) and got credit for the quest.

11/12/22 Maybe I was just lucky or maybe the bug is now fixed but I was able to complete this to 100% on the first try. Whether having my voidwalker minion and refreshing it between fights made any difference - your guess is as good as mine.

Hi all

I present You Storyline Brackenhide Water Hole. This Storyline is part of Sojourner of Azure Span which is criteria for Loremaster of the Dragon Isles.

Quests in order I done:

1. Waste Water Cleanup - Quest give Detry Hornswald /way 22.74 41.70, in lake, press on 6 Rotting Pile and kill 6 Muck Elemental spawning from them,don't do more then 1 in one time.
2a. A Precision Approach - Slay Flayfist in cave /way 24.35 39.58 in cave
2b. Disarmed and Docile - Kill Mobs and collect 15 Gnawbone Armaments.
4a. Who's Next? - Slay Cracktooth i cave /way 24.06 42.05 in cave
4b. Filthy Mongrels - You need to Sly 3 Hyena Matriarch and 12 Hyena Mongrel
6. M.E.T.A. - Quest giver Illusory Mage 23.43 41.83 - You need to first kill mobs to get 6 Duskpaw Key then release animals.
7a. Third Try's the Charm - Slay Bloodclaw in cave tree /way 22.29 43.07
7b. Just To Be Sure - Slay 12 Stormfang elementalists.
9. Whack-a-Gnoll - Go on arena 21.59 41.36 and slay all opponents ( at 50% i get ez one to kill O_o and that was all for quest ). After this quest Storyline will finish.

After getting to 50% I left the ring, about 80-100 yards away to get to a treasure chest and got quest-completion. Engaged some random gnolls guarding the chest, perhaps they do count.

I was kind of hoping for a stronger condemnation of the quest giver Detry Hornswald. And the player character's actions in this. The quest chain ends abruptly. I think that this is a brave questline for Blizzard to add, but if they are going to add it, they ought to have taken it a bit further. We should turn in Detry to Khadgar or something. On the other hand, perhaps the people who really need to learn the lesson from this quest line would just have rolled their eyes at such an ending. Perhaps this "and no one learned anything or faced justice" ending will get them to think a little bit about the obviously-intended lesson here. I don't know. But I have to wonder if another ending was planned and scrapped.

I guess if I was going to suggest a change, I would take out all the rewards. Player character doesn't deserve any. Let the questline end with 2 copper or something.

Okay, just managed to finish this and I learned a couple things. Documenting here in cause it's useful to anyone else.

I failed the first time and went and did other stuff for a while because I was irritated. I was at like 35% (the three guys at once killed me). No idea if this break is part of what helped me, but it was part of what I did, so noting it here.
When I came back about an hour later, my progress was still at 35%, but the fights all started over. This meant I had to do the first two guys again; however, this just ADDED to my progress bar instead of restarting it or it remaining the same!
Then, the three guys came and I killed one but then died. I resurrected outside the ring, but THAT time I was able to fight the two remaining guys one at a time because they stationed themselves at opposite sides of the ring. So, I killed one, then the other. So if you die fighting the three guys, maybe try resurrecting in an area where you preferably are not aggroing any of them, then pull and fight them one at a time (totally doable).
Like another commenter said, the last guy is insanely easy O_o then my progress bar was full and I was done.

So, to summarize:
I fought the first guy, second guy, then three guys at once, died. Progress bar 35%.
Came back later, progress still at 35%, fight first guy again, second guy again, then three guys at once, killed one, then died. I think I was at around 59% progress by then because it had added to my progress even though I had already fought the first two guys before.
Resurrected outside ring, two remaining guys at opposite ends of ring so pulled one at a time and killed them both no problem. 70%-ish progress.
Third guy came. Piece of cake. 100% done.

Is this the only time us players canonically refused to help a questgiver? Normally we just do whatever anybody says, regardless as to the potential repercussions. Oh, you want Dragon essences mr mage guy? Sure why not! Oh, this suspicious hooded guy wants me to give him Kel'thuzad's phylactery? Here ya go pal, now where's my 30 gold at? Go kill Illidan Stormrage? Absolutely! He's totally, uh... ruining the environment or something. I'm sure he doesn't have some elaborate plan to defeat the Burning Legion and he only needs like 2 more weeks to finish it.

I found while running away from the middle of the three-gnoll fight (rogue, I vanished) that they return to their respective corners immediately, and it becomes a 1-2-3 job instead of a pile-on-the-poor-rogue hackfest. :)

Also, I love this quest chain because a) I'm a outlaw rogue murder hobo, and b through z) I hate gnolls. :)

for me it was kind of strange. Just before the last guy, there was a mob shooting at me from the outside ring after I killed the next to last guy. Was a total of 4 waves not including the guy shooting at me. The last guy was the easiest by far.

I have all the quests done, they all read true, my dragon has the Renewed Proto-Drake: Horned Jaw option unlocked, but I do not have the Brackenhide Water Hole progress towards the Sojourner of Azure Span achievement.
