Warning! As of pre-patch launch, as a veteran player, if you don't click "I'm already familiar with Stormwind", you won't be able to use Chromie Time until you complete the tutorial chain and then the BfA introduction, up to getting the achievement Come Sail Away.

Contrary to what others have said, you don't have to complete the BFA introduction for your faction before you can head back to Chromie and choose an alternative timeline to level in. What you do have to do is either:

Pick the dialogue option, skip the spoon-fed city introduction and just walk on over there and say hi.

or

Take the quest, finish the spoon-fed city introduction and then continue on with the first couple of quests into BFA content.

Once you leave starter island, you are offered up the quest welcoming you to your faction capital, Welcome to Stormwind. You are then given a small tour of the city, with a few extra quests showing you some game mechanics, before sending you off to meet the faction leader, ending the quest chain with An Urgent Meeting

At this point, you should be able to head over and talk to Chromie, coz the start island quests are officially over. However, Garrick will want to offer up Tides of War the new version of the old Tides of War which is probably unavaialable to your Exiles Reach character, but is likely still be available for old chars, and those made in the racial starter zones.

If you picked up this quest, or Chromie still is not available if you didn't and went to check, all you need to do is talk to Dreadlord Jaina down at the docks, and either watch, or skip the cut-scene to arrive in Boralis. Although you are expected to walk with Jaina to the see her mom, you can opt not to and simply port back to Stormwind, since you already set your hearth there as part of the noob questline. Jaina will sulk, saying "Now is not the time to wander off" but you will be able to take up Chromie's alternate questlines.

Basically, Blizzard wants to funnel you into BFA content, but you really don't have to. Bare in mind, there' nothing wrong with BFA's leveling zones, it's the end game content that was bad.

Possible solution to a bug where you cannot use Chromie after abandoning this quest: We used the sync party feature (open map in a group and click sync), where I as the party leader had skipped the quest while my friend had started it, then abandoned it near the end. As soon as we activated party sync Captain Garrick appeared again on the bridge and my friend were able to talk to her and skip the quest. After this Chromie was working as normally.

At level 11 every time I pick this quest up it automatically disappears from my questlog. Anyone else having similar issues?

Welcome to Stormwind

Meet with Lindie Springstock at the city gate.

Description

Now that we are back in Stormwind, I need to deliver my mission report to King Wrynn. In the meantime, I've asked Lindie to accompany you around the city. There's a lot to see and do in Stormwind, so feel free to explore at your leisure. I'll send for you once I've delivered my report to the king.
