How to do Pool of Potions:

kill Burning Extract
when Burning Extract die, collect Viscous Oil Carrying Viscous Oil
return Viscous Oil to Pool of Potions 3 times

If you can lucky to kill a mob with Carrying Viscous Oil near to Pool of Potions, you can get all 3 before it despawns.

After the burning extract explodes, click on the yellow'ish slime residue it leaves around the corpse. This is not an item you loot, but something you gather.

You can get more than one oil from one corpse, so if you lure it back close to the pool you won't have to run far.

Do you need to be an Alchemist to do this quest? I've tried clicking on the ground stuff but can't gather the oil.

If it doesn't leave a small clickable blob, then there is nothing but junk to get from it.
If you can luck out and kill one right down the steps and if it has a clickable blob, you can get all 3 before it despawns.

The key to the whole thing, it has to have a clickable blob after you kill one of the Burning Extracts. The drop rate is just very typical of blizzard. You don't have to abandon and retake the quest, just keep killing until it leaves a blob that gives you a cog icon on your mouse. It will stay there long enough, for me anyway, to run to the Pool of Potions (as long as you're close to it anyway) and back three times to complete the quest with that kill. What I did was hit the Burning Extract once, run to the edge of the hill going up to the Pool of Potions, then kill it there. Third kill got me the cog. (After I came here and read Strokelock's post.)

It seems currently any nameplate addon will mess up this indicator bar. So if you can only see one color, try to disable all addons.

You CAN click on the blob on the ground even if you didn't participate in the kill of the slime, so make sure to pick any you see around. This is alchemy, waste not!

It's NOT a lootable item, but a mob that spawns on the ground when one of the slimes dies.

Had be frustrated until I realize it wasn't spawning adds, it was spawning the QUEST ITEM.

Easy enough quest, but the text could be a bit clearer.

This quest isn't required for the main campaign. Hopefully whoever made this quest learned their lesson or lost their job.

Strongly advise you to disable all addons to do this quest. No clue which addon was causing the issue but once I disabled them all it worked easily.

You can mount up after picking up the buckets and it makes it much quicker.

This is a pretty awful quest. I tried it on an alt after the initial launch rush was over hoping the drop and spawn rate would be better. It's not. I'm about the only one here, killed every red blob in the area, only one drop and no more spawns.

The drop rate on these mobs are so BAD, that you on numerous occasions keep asking yourself: "Am I doing something wrong?"

For me, the trick was NOT clicking on the ooze mob just as it died, but instead stepping back and giving a few seconds for the lootable red ooze to appear. That second ooze had a hand icon and, after clicking on it, showed a backpack with red bubbling liquid on my avatar.

Quest Name:	Start and description
1 A Plague on Your House	"Quest start from Judas Sneap 58 72 Maldraxxus. You need to speak in order with: 1 Vial Master Lurgy 59 72 2 Foul-Tongue Cyrlix 58 73 3 Boil Master Yetch 59 73"
2 Pool of Potions	Slay Burning Extract and pick up Carrying Viscous Oil then move to Pool of Potions to drop it. You need to do it 3 times. Sometimes is hard to see Carrying Viscous Oil is under body.
3 Callous Concoctions	Slay Burning Extract and pick up Carrying Viscous Oil But this time move to Pool of Mixed Monstrosities. Is 3 deferent Oozing Ingredients but for quest you can bring any. You need to do it 3 times. After finish this quest you will finish story line. Plaguefall: Knee Deep In It is not required to finish storyline.

You have to click the body after you kill it. Not spend 10 minutes looting them trying to find the item, like I did. You can also click it, run it to the pool, run back and click it again if you are fast enough.

to do this quest
1. you have to kill neutral oozes just past the npc,
2. once you killed two or something one of them after dead will glow white and will be clickable,
3. you right click on it and a basket appears on your back,
4. you go back to the NPC and enter the little circle of the green pool, your char will automatically drop the liquid in the pool
5. you can repeat by going back and right clicking on the same mob, did it twice that way

Sometimes it takes a while to get a drop with these guys. Be sure to go after the neutral mobs, not the hostile ones.

Also, if you kill close enough to the cauldron and do get lucky enough to get a slime, hurry back to the same spot. Sometimes you can click a second slime from the same body. Once I even managed to get all three that way.

Be sure to take it back to Pool of Potions and not the repeatable one Pool of Mixed Monstrosities like I did the first 3 times. :-(

Good advice above. HUNTERS you are not looting the quest item - so don't waste time having your pet FETCH anything. Use the "grabby hand" icon to claim the quest item from the outlined spawn creature.

When looting a dead slime without viscous oil, you'll most often see the standard loot icon.
When looting a dead slime with viscous oil, you'll see a large red blister on the back of the dead slime.
Mouse over the blister and you should see a small, interactive hand icon to collect the Viscous Oil. These slime can also be looted.

Description

I shall teach you about the Pool of Potions. The potions we create here have a variety of beneficial effects. Kill the slimes in the surrounding ruins and collect the Oozing Ingredient: Viscous Oil they may drop. Each slime can produce a great quantity of oil, so you'll only be able to carry one slime's worth at a time. Deliver this oil to the Pool of Potions and toss it in.
