There appears to be four criteria for the Team Up quests:

1. Have that hatchling as your summoned pet.
2. Have that hatchling in the first slot of the pet battle team.
3. The hatchling must survive.
4. Of course, you must win and complete the world quest.

Changed my lineup and forgot my addon changes my summoned pet. Started battle and killed 1 pet then my SPIDER SENSES started tingling. I was able to open my pet menu and summon my falcosaur pet during the battle resulting in receiving credit for completing the WQ pet battle.
1. Pet must be summoned
2. Win
These are the requirements for completion

Edit: For inquiring minds. It seems that the addon causing my troubles was Rematch
It seems i was able to fix my problem by opening the pet journal and at the bottom right(unless you changed from the default) rematch has options. Under misc options you can check KEEP COMPANION and it will resummon the pet you had out before switching your pets around.

i found it easy to do this when the Stand Up to Bullies world quest was up.

i used two hatchlings and a random third pet i didn't even bring out. you only get credit for the hatchling you have summoned before beginning the battle, so make sure you have the right one out!

i used:
1. falcosaur swarm
1. falcosaur swarm (the bully has an ability that ups his dodge chance to 50%, so essentially just keep swarming until his buff goes away)
3. predatory strike

and then i just switched to the next hatchling when the first one's health got low and was able to take out the second and third pets with no trouble.

WHAT MAKES THIS EXTRA-EASY IS THAT THE QUEST IS ACCOUNT-WIDE.
1. complete the quest on your main
2. swap to an alt
3. resummon the hatchling pet you are doing the quest for
4. do the world quest again

if you have enough alts and the quest is up, you can just repeat this very easy world quest until your quest is complete!

Hey guys!

Just wanted to clarify something for this quest: for a pet battle to count for this, the specific pet must be summoned as a non-combat pet before starting it. Also, the pet must be present during battle itself, and it must survive it. Otherwise you won't get credit for the quest.

Another weird buggy thing that happened today... as soon as I completed the "daily" quest for each of my Falcosaurs, I got a new quest for each one, but it only showed up when summoned on my alt. My understanding is that each Falcosaur will have one quest per day, but then you have to wait until reset to get a new one. I believed this to be true because I had only ever summoned them with my main. But I was able to do several quests today by summoning with my alt. Then I used a lowbie alt to turn the quests in so I could get xp for the turn-ins.

Pick up the quest on a 110 alt, complete the quest on your 110 main, then turn in the quest on an alt below 110. Kind of a nice loophole for getting to the mount faster and getting a little character xp along the way.

And for the Team Up quests, I can confirm that the falcosaur does NOT need to be in the pet battle, it only need to be summoned, but the summoning sometimes cancels for no reason, so be sure to check that it's still summoned before you make the killing blow in the battle.

Yet another buggy thing....I completed pet battle world quests on my main with my Falcosaur on the team, only to realize I needed him summoned to receive credit. Switched to an alt, hoping that I could complete it on another character. I summoned the Falcosaur, looked at the quest and it was already completed. Turned it in and now he's sleeping.

Maybe it's counting previous pet battle world quests I had done prior to receiving the quest? Either way, I'm glad I don't have to wait another day to do it because the quest description is incredibly vague.

The quest text states that <To learn, your hatchling must be present when you begin the battle, and cannot die in the battle>.

However, I just did Tiny Poacher, Tiny Animals with Snowfeather Hatchling summoned and Bloodgazer Hatchling as well as Direbeak Hatchling in the team and getting switched in. The Bloodgazer ended up dead, and the Direbeak did not get credit for this quest. However, the summoned Snowfeather did get credit for Allies in Highmountain.

For the next quest, Wildlife Conservationist, I had the Bloodgazer in the team and the Direbeak summoned, but not taking part in the fight. Direbeak did get credit and Bloodgazer did not.

So it is enough to have the pet summoned - no requirement that it takes part of the fight.

Here are the quests of this Questline we know so far:
This Questline can only be completed once the Nighthold raid is unlocked!
You get one Quest every day but the date I'm posting this(Patch 7.1 Build 22989) it is still possible to get the next quest on a different character. So say you complete the quest on your druid you can still get a quest from the same pet from any of your other characters. Don't know if there's a limit though.
The Dungeon Quest can be completed on all Difficulties

There seems to be a lot of miscommunication here. The problem that I encountered is that when you setup your team it replaces your summoned pet (stupidly). So here are the steps to make sure you get credit.

Of course you need to accept the quest from your hatchling.
Put together your team for the world quest battlepet fight (notice I said world quest). This will summon a new pet. You do NOT need the hatchling to be part of your team
Summon your hatchling.
Start the battlepet fight.

You should get credit as long as you win the fight. I did every time as long as I remembered step 3.

this is completly stupid... you cannot get credit if your pet its not summoned but it is in your team... I had in the team direbeak and bloodgazer but got credit for none beause it takes only the summoned one... completly stupid! so for each hatchling pet quests you need to do 3 pet WQ so that means for all 4 you need 12 pet WQ and 4 days... wtf is this...

Here is something to keep in mind. I had my little guy in the battle and summoned and he died and I did not get credit. Also wasn't able to do the battle again because once you beat it the world quest goes away.

something I came up with recently after days of struggle doing this quests on all four pets as I have only one 110
- summon your pet before pet battle
- start pet battle
- during pet battle open "collections/pet journal" and find pet related for quest
- right click on it and summon if you have that option

Some classes have an oderhall ability to complete a worldquest instantly.
If you got your little buddy in your team at 1st place, and summoned him.
Then you can use this ability and get credit for the quest.

This might help people who are not that good with pet battles, like me. ;)

I did this with my mage.

As pet quests are account-wide the credit is not given if the same world quest was already done by another character. So if changing characters choose different world quests.

World Quest pet battle ! ........ What? How? Why?...

Some say you need to have your Direbeak Hatchling summoned and not in the team and get credit for completing the quest.

Some say you just need to have the Direbeak Hatchling in your team to get credit.

Some say you need to have your Direbeak Hatchling in your team and it has to take part in the fight to get credit.

Some say your Direbeak Hatchling needs to start first in the fight (meaning in has to be in the first slot.) to get credit.

Some say your Direbeak Hatchling needs to make the final hit in the fight to get credit.

And not to forget by all the above it needs to be summoned as well.

I think now and that some of us did take credit for the Quest by mistake, either from a bug or something else they did and thats why are there so many diffrent opinions on how and what you need to do to get credit for this Quest. The best thing to do is learn from Trial and Error method. I know it takes longer but... hey thats Blizz we are talking about. No good quest comes without a bug of some sort :))

Now... The only Combo that worked for me is : I had Bloodgazer Hatchling summoned, took part in the fight and did the final blow.
I did about 8-9 WQ pet battle quests and used this Tact on the last 5, did get credit for the last 5 until now. 3x for my Sharptalon Hatchling and 2x for my Bloodgazer Hatchling using the Tact i just said.

I don't know if this works for everybody but i hope this helps some of you guys.

While this may seem contrary to the blue post , I just did a test and had 3 of the falcosaur pets in my team and the fourth summoned. I got credit for the summoned pet, but NOTHING for any of the three in the team. So you can have whatever you want in your party, as long as you have one of them summoned.

Battle pet world quests completed on the Broken Shore do not count! I have completed two, in both cases being very careful that my falcosaur hatchling was summoned prior to the fight, was the first pet into the fight, and survived the fight, and in neither case did winning the fight (and completing the world quest) count towards this quest.

Do not waste your time on the Broken Shore!

Bredda Tenderhide Pet Battle I used the following team:

1) Direbeak Hatchling 1/2/1
2) Anubisath Idol 1/1/1
3) Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (MPD) 1/2/2

Lil' Spirit Guide vs Direbeak Hatchling

Ironstrike
Predatory Strike
Falco swarm

At this point Direbeak will be down to about 761 health, I swap him out to Anubisath Idol

Sandstorm
Lil' should die, if not crush
Lil dies and respawns
Crush again..Lil finally dies

Quillino enters (keep Anubisath in)

Deflection
Crush
You might get one more Crush in and then Anubisath dies

MPD comes in
Thunderbolt
Breathe
Breathe

Qullino should die at this point and Fethyr enters

Decoy
Breath
Breath (if thunderbolt is up use it)
MPD will die and respawn use breathe to finish off Fethyr, if for some reason you have to bring Direbeak back, use Ironskin and Predatory Strike, Job done.

I did this pet battle with several of my alts using this same team and only once did I have to bring Direbeak in and that is because I used decoy at the wrong time. Hope this is helpful...Happy Battles :)

PS Don't forget to ensure Direbeak is by your side when you start the battle :)

Confirmed: this quest can be accomplished using quest-finisher items from the order hall (frost crux, etc.) Just make sure you are in the zone where the quest is, and that the pet is summoned.

Also, this can be completed on 3 different alts doing the same world quest. I used lock, dk, and warrior (all 3 with quest-finishing items) and it worked perfectly.

Hi guys

If you have a char that can complete an instant WQ (DK, DH, Warrior, Paladin or Mage), you can just summon the pet and complete it. I've just tested it.

I had followed all of the suggestions here about needing to have pet summon and first member of team and that they need to survive. None of that is required, they only need to be summoned before you start the first and you can you use any team you like.

I was struggling to pass this quest on all of my pets because I was doing what the quest text said, imagine that. The text is completely wrong now.

Wow, what a frustrating list of comments to read through for a quest. Not due to the authors, but because of the sheer inconsistency of the information, which I'm sure is due to Blizz hotfixing things as it goes. I hope this comment helps those of you who are confused by the older, conflicting comments.
I almost put this quest off, but luckily the pet battle WQ in Dalaran just spawned, so here is my experience:

I set my team up with my Direbeak Hatchling, along with two other pets, summoned my hatchling to my side, and began the WQ battle with Amelia. I hit her team once with my hatchling, then finished the fight with my other two pets easily. I did get credit for the quest by doing this.

I then logged onto another character who went out to the exact same wq, with the exact same team. Summoned my hatchling, began the pet battle, used hatchling once and continued fighting with the other two pets.
This ALSO DID GIVE CREDIT. I'm caps locking because several people have said contradicting things in comments above, and while I believe their issues weren't conjecture, the problems with quest progress seems to have been fixed now, so feel free to log around and just get the quest done in 3 quick battles on alts if you like. There are several criteria for the Team Up quests:

The character must be level 110 and has unlocked world quests
The hatchling must be actively summoned before the pet battle is started
The hatchling must survive the Pet Battle (IF part of the team), if it dies it will despawn
You must win and complete the world quest
The hatchling must still be summoned at the end of the successful world quest (some addons might interfere)

The hatchling does not have to be an active fighter in the pet battle and it does not have to be part of the team.
Instant WQ complete abilities will work to get credit, but pet has to be summoned before using the ability and you must be in the same zone (confirmation required for last part).
You can get credit from the same WQ on different characters.
Broken Shore WQs count.
Argus battle pet quests don't count.

That tooltip is all sorts of misleading...

I can 100% that you do NOT need the Direbeak Hatchling in your lineup against the fight.

From there just looking up guides like Xu-Fu's to get the dailies done.

DO have the Direbeak Hatchling Summoned though, and watch out for Rematch putting away your pet.

Please note that pet battle world quests introduced in Battle for Azeroth do not count towards the criteria. You have to do Legion pet battle world quests.

This is an incredibly bugged quest. BFA WQs don't count, Argus WQs don't count (but Broken Isles does). Yes, I had the Hatchling out before initiating the quests, yes I used an ability on every fight. Even using the shield will be enough.

I think I just solved part of the getting credit problem - if the WQ tamer has a DIALOG BOX from where you start the battle (as most BfA tamers do) it doesn't count the fight at all. Tried on three (pet didn't die if it was in the fight, always summoned anyway) and no dice. Went to Aszuna to fight Blottis and got the credit.

Your hatchling will be dismissed upon entering the battle. If you fail then forget to resummon your hatchling for the next attempt, you're screwed out of credit.

As far as I can tell, these quests (Snowfeather Team Up, Direbeak Team Up, Sharptalon Team Up, Bloodgazer Team Up) have a very simple requirement: The hatchling must be summoned when the pet battle world quest is completed.

The easiest strategy:

Do not put the hatchling in the team.
Summon the hatchling before the fight starts (look for the quest ?).
Double-check that the hatchling is summoned while in the middle of the fight (Shift-P, right-click the hatchling, click "Summon" if it's listed; the menu should show "Dismiss").

My findings:

The game will sometimes(?) summon the first pet in the team (I think this is why the quest text mistakenly claims that the hatchling needs to be the first pet in the team). If the first pet is not the hatchling, you can just re-summon the hatchling.
If the hatchling dies during the battle, it will de-summon. It is easier if the hatchling simply is not in the team.
If you aren't sure whether the hatchling is summoned, you can summon in the middle of the fight. The hatchling only needs to be summoned when the fight ends.
If the hatchling is in the team and drops to 0 HP, the UI still lets you summon/dismiss it but you will not get credit. I think it gets marked dead when the fight ends, but before the world quest completes. Again, it is easier if the hatchling is not in the team.

If you have 110+ alts (or 50+ in Shadowlands pre-patch?), you should be able to unlock world quests on them by simply going to the Violet Citadel, talking to Khadgar, and completing Uniting the Isles/Uniting the Isles, which will let you complete this a little faster.

Flummoxed: Used Direbeak first as required in quest. (1-2-1), then used Nyarella's strategy with Unborn Valkyr (2-2-1) in 2nd place, and Ikky last (1-1-1). Worked like a charm. For the strategy, look at the link for Flummoxed quest.

Oh, Ominitron: After doing this quest twice (crappy RNG), I didn't even get credit. Thanks Blizz. But it did work on 2nd attempt.

I've done about 12 different pet battle world quests, with all kinds of variations of the above comments and haven't gotten any credit. 3 days wasted trying to do this...and I have four pets to do it for. Typical Blizzard.

Tough one here;
Mini Magma is Elemental
Mini Arcan is Magic
Mini Electron is Mechanical

However they keep switching. Gave up trying to match pets and just went for a good damage and endurance combo:
Direbeak Hatching first (but remember to keep the pet summoned as well)
Dark Phoenix
Netherspace Abyssal

As you now need to have Direbeak Hatchling in your team, as the first pet and it can't die so it's a lot more difficult.

Here's a strat for Nightwatcher Merayl.
Hard fight as you immediately get Curse of Doom that you can't remove and then take damage from Arcane Explosion.

Direbeak Hatchling 1/2/1
Enchanted Broom 2/2/2
Blood Boil 2/2/2

Predatory Strike
Switch to Broom
Sweep - because you don't want the buff from Breezy Book active when Curse goes off on the Hatchling.
Wind up x4
Batter x 2 - now Helpful spirit should be in undead round.
Sweep so he can't get off another arcane explosion
Pass - Broom will die
Bring in Blood Boil
Pass - you'll get stunned
Drain Power
Expunge - possible RNG here as you might die
Ooze Touch - Moth will die
Ooze Touch
Expunge if required.

As of 9.1.5, you do not need to have the Direbeak Hatchling in your battling team to get credit for these world quests. You must, however, have it summoned when you enter the battle (standing next to you with the little gray question mark). If you're using Rematch or another addon that automatically loads teams, you might have to re-summon it after it loads the team. Pay close attention to this.

I tested this a couple times and was able to use non-Direbeak Hatchling teams and still get credit for the WQ anyway, so long as it was standing next to me when I entered the battle.

This quest is so glitchy. The pet frequently disappears. You cannot tell that it is not there until you have finished the quest and then don't get credit for the quest. I know that there is no way Blizzard will go back and fix this but I wish that they would. It is a huge waste of players' time.

Blizzard should honestly just remove this quest from all the hatchlings. Pet battles themselves aren't exactly engaging/fun content and combining them with a daily quest chain is beyond infuriating for the player.

Not to mention this quest bugs out most of the time and rewards no progress when you complete it.
