This quest line will open up the Apexis Gemcutter, an NPC in Tanaan Jungle required in order to cut epic gems in WoD.

Once this quest line is completed, you can use the Apexis Gemcutter next to Sun-Sage Chakkis to start cutting epic gems. At first, only Immaculate Versatility Taladite is available. The gemcutter requires other "modules" in order to be able to cut the other epic gems. How to acquire those modules:

Immaculate Critical Strike Taladite - Gemcutter Module: Critical Strike dropped by Shadow-Lord Iskar in Hellfire Citadel, the new raid in 6.2
Immaculate Haste Taladite - Gemcutter Module: Haste dropped by High Sage Viryx in Mythic Skyreach - a new difficulty in 6.2
Immaculate Mastery Taladite - Gemcutter Module: Mastery sold by Quackenbush or Paul North at the Brawler's Guild - requires Bizmo's Brawlpub Rank 6 - costs 800g
Immaculate Haste Taladene - Cracked Gemcutter Module sold by any of the Arrakoa Apexis Traders in Stormshield (next to the bonus roll quest giver outside the AH) - costs 3,000g and 3,000 Apexis Crystals
Immaculate Stamina Taladite - Gemcutter Module: Stamina dropped by Rukhmar, a world boss found in Spires of Arak

This unlocks once you have built the Shipyard and then the Tanaan Outpost. (Maybe sooner, I didn't check in between doing those two). The Garrison Architect offers it.

As a quester and professions collectioner I'm disappointed, that since a while, you only can collect some items by raiding or doing legendary questlines.

The game has been less interesting for me (lately), because I can't raid with all of my tunes.
Went off for a couple of months and just returned and did Tanaan Jungle.

Also not interesting for me. Ready now with it and all is left is farming claws and again those horrible dailies.

Please make it interesting for us collectors and questers. And not only for people to raid. The mix is gone.

Now there are some recipes not obtainable for me, like lv6 Brawlers Guild.

Sun-Sage Chakkis just gave me the quest Ruined Construct to feed Apexis Gemcutter 1000 apexis crystals in Tanaan. Now it's unlocked and all teh gems are belong to us!.

GOOD NEWS for alts!

Fresh level 100 with: Level 2 Garrison, JC level 616, no Naval Yard.

What prompted this (i'm guessing) was a Rukhmar kill which yeilded me the Gemcutter Module: Stamina or a recent patch shortened the requirements to unlock the epic Jem recipies and access.

To see if you've done this Gems of the Apexis quest, type this in the chat window:
/script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39175))
If it says "true" then you've completed it, "false" means you haven't. Alliance: use 39195 instead of 39175, for the equivalent Gems of the Apexis quest.

To check the next quest in the chain, Mastery Of Taladite, use:
/script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39176))

To check the third and final quest in the chain, Ruined Construct, use:
/script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39177))

I didn't even realize I had the ability to craft the immaculate multistrike gem because this quest was never offered to me. I started reading up on wowhead and ran the script posted above. I have not completed this quest but Gazlowe is not offering it to me. My JC has had a level 3 garrison, level 3 jc hut, level 3 shipyard and all reps needed for quite some time. I thought I had to raid to get the immaculate recipes (which I don't do anymore) so didn't realize I could get it. I have opened a ticket up because I don't know why I am not being offered this quest to get the construct. I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I'd at least like to get the multistrike recipe from Tanaan. Thanks.

Juste got the plan from Rukhmar today and I didn't have the quest either. Turns out that you don't need to do it anymore, the Apexis Gemcutter already allows you to craft epic gems, if you have the modules. You only need to go to him at Aktar's Post.

You still need to get the modules the same way as before though.

This breadcrumb quest has a separate horde and alliance version, however both are marked as complete once you've done one of them.
