When I did this quest on my level 98 paladin, I found these mobs take a lot off my 130k HP (sometimes one third to a half). Also, the oil has a somewhat low droprate and the sludges are close to another. Moral of the story: keep self heals available here.

This quest is part of a major quest line for your garrison Salvage Yard.
Below is what is needed to acquire it.

See NPC: Reshad <Scrollkeeper> : He will lead you to the village to get the quests you need to open up at Southport.
1) One of Our Own
2) Inspecting the Troops
3) Admiral Taylor
4) Pinchwhistle Gearworks - If you went here and didn't complete the above, you wont be able to interact with Watchman Kovak. Admiral Taylor is required to be completed.
5) Defungination
**BEFORE the next quest is offered you need to do the following TWO quests:
*1) Spore-Be-Gone
*2) Unwanted Pests
6) The Mother Lode
7) Getting the Crew Back Together
8) Follow that Hotrod!
9) Field Trial
10) Skimming Off The Top
11) The Right Parts for the Job
12) Sporicide
13) Curing With Force
14) Preventing the Worst
15) Flame On!

Depending on which outpost building you have chosen for Southport will depend on who your quest giver is.

If you had chosen the Stockton Brewery, your quest giver is Watchman Kovak.
If you chose the Smuggler's Den, your quest giver will be Watchman Tilnia.

1. Pinchwhistle Gearworks / Pinchwhistle Gearworks - (Video) - Speak to your Southport Flight Master, Firn Swiftbreeze, and select "Take me to the Pinchwhistle Gearworks."

• Go to coords 61.5, 72.9 and turn in the quest to Kimzee Pinchwhistle, and pick up Defungination. Also grab Spore-be-Gone from Engineer Gazwitz.
• Travel south to coords 62.5, 73.8, and pick up Unwanted Pests from Exterminator Lemmy.

2. Defungination - (Video) - Travel south into Sporemist Shallows and use QR58 Flame Blaster on Spore Pustule, which look like small orange mushrooms on the ground.

• Spore-be-Gone - While completing Defungination, activate Spore-be-Gone Turret.
• Unwanted Pests - As you're completing Defungination, kill a total of 10 mobs (either Spore Drifter or Fungal Hulk).
• Travel north, back to Pinchwhistle Gearworks, to coords 61.5, 72.9, and turn in the quests, and pick up The Mother Lode

3. The Mother Lode - (Video) - Leave Pinchwhistle Gearworks, traveling southwest past the Flight Master, to coords 59.1, 79.1, and turn in the quest, picking up Getting the Crew Back Together.

4. Getting the Crew Back Together - (Video) - Travel south down the path and click on 6 Injured Crewman to revive them.

• Clearing Out Before Cleaning Up - While completing this step, kill 8 Crimsonwing Wasp.
• Turn the quests in and pick up Follow that Hotrod!

5. Follow that Hotrod! - (Video) - Travel south to Pinchwhistle Point to coords 58.5, 92.3.

• Turn quest in and pick up quests The Right Parts for the Job & Skimming Off the Top from Kimzee Pinchwhistle.
• Also pick up quest Field Trial from Krixel Pinchwhistle

6. Field Trial - (Video) - Use the Vial of Untested Serum on Infected Pinchwhistle Point Citizen around coords 58.2, 89.4. Around this same area you will find Broken Shredder and Volatile Sludge, for the other two parts to this step.

• The Right Parts for the Job - Use G-14 Buster Rocket on Broken Shredder, and collect 16 Serviceable Gear.
• Skimming Off the Top - Kill 4 Volatile Sludge and loot their Volatile Oil.
• Travel back to coords 58.5, 92.3 to turn in these quests and pick up the next series for this chain.

7. Sporicide - (Video) - Travel to coords 55.8, 89.0, and kill a total of 6 of either Spore Shambler or Windswept Spore Drifter while completing this step of the chain.

• Curing With Force - While completing the above quest, attack Infected Goblin. When they are at 35% health, use Vial of Refined Serum on them.

8. Preventing the Worst - (Video) - Place 5 Firebomb at the following coords:

• 56.7, 89.9 - Inside a small building
• 56.5, 89.5 - Outside
• 56.7, 91.4 - Inside a small building
• 56.3, 91.5 - Inside a small building
• 55.8, 91.0 - In an opening, on the second floor, of a large building

• Turn in the quests in the vicinity of coords 58.5, 92.3, and pick up Flame On from Krixel Pinchwhistle.

9. Flame On - (Video) - Click on the Firebomb Plunger at coords 58.5, 92.3, then turn around and jump into the Repaired Flying Machine at coords 58.8, 92.8.

• You will then be flown back to Pinchwhistle Gearworks where you will turn in this quest and pick up Salvage Yard, Level 1 and recruit Kimzee Pinchwhistle.

Collect 4 Volatile Oil.

Description

That flying machine is our ticket out of here but its fuel tank is bone dry!

We're right next to the oil fields but with the infected out there we don't have time to run a line up here so we need to improvise.

The oil creatures moving next to the pumps out there are full of a highly potent mixture that I can drop right into the tank. Grab some of that oil for me and we'll be one step closer to getting out of here.
