I had quite a bit of trouble finding the catacombs. What you need to look for is a dirt road going down the side of the island on the west side of the island. It's directly accross from one of the temple towers. The actual entreance to the catacombs isn't visable till you go down the side of the island on a road that goes down.

Still will not give credit for finding the catacombs as of the beta patch of 7/14/2012.

I did abandon and reaquire the quest several times, as well as shutdown and restart my computer.

As of patch 15961 on Aug 7th, it is possible to get credit for discovering the catatombs, as well as completing the quest Give them Peace, the Fear-stricken Sentinels now spawn inside the cave.

You can complete Give them Peace at the quest giver afterward, but this quest seems to be suffering from some phasing issues, at least where the question mark is located at, whether inside or outside the cave.

Edit: NVM found the guy inside the cave next to the last boss Dread Shadow, he's just stealthed

Personally, I experienced a different bug on live. The objectives completed, but Tai Ho didn't show up to turn the quest in. However all it took was relogging to force him to show up properly.

Had the same bug where the NPC didn't show up to turn in the quest inside the catacombs. Logged out and it solved the issue.

After defeating the Sha boss in the lower level all the way in the back, don't leave the cave trying to find Tai Ho for the turn in!

Move your character to the back of your cave, where there will be a yellow question mark. This is where Tai Ho should be, stealthed but visible - unfortunately the quest is currently bugged.

From your location at the back of the cave, simply log out and log back in. Tai Ho should be there now - turn in The Terrible Truth, THEN return to Niuzao Temple for the other turn ins!

"the terrible truth" is that this quest has no !@#$ing sense of direction. I was going to take a screenshot of the pathway and upload it but i couldnt even find the damm area or complete the quest

The Catacombs are west of the Temple on the edge of the island. If you're near the pond w/ yaks you're too far north just follow the edge of the island until you find 2 flame posts that mark a trail down & follow it. If you're having trouble turning in the quest "The Terrible Truth" after killing the boss, simply log out & back on & he should appear near where you killed the boss. Good luck.

Frankly, this was the best wow quest I had in a while. How strongly moved was I by the horrific work of Sha on guards in that damned cave! My heart stopped when the edges of the screen went red, it said 'You are dying.' on the middle and my hp went to 1 instantly. (I pressed Lay on Hands split second later. Ha, ha.) The atmosphere gave me chills and general sense of uneasiness. And when I reached the last monster, Dread Shadow, I was rather freaked out by the ingenious spell which made my screen go black for 2-3 seconds.
Bravo.

This, or I was heavily stoned and listening to Lavender Town music from Pokemon while playing.

OK just going west isn't gonna get ya there! Go down the steps then the steps to the left n turn 45 degrees left you'll see 2 stumps. Go right over the one on the left to the dirt road goin down and you're there at the cave. coords are 61.2, 31.6

Anyone else recognize the cave layout? It's the Yeti cave in Winterspring, but with different textures.

Not sure if anyone else is wasting time not having Ogo The Elder giving you the quest, but you have to complete Ogo The Younger's quest "Niuzao's Price" in order for you to be eligible to do The Terrible Truth.

If Tai is following you around in the cave and doesn't give you a question mark when you've completed the quest, don't leave the cave. Just log/log and he'll be fixed when you return.

If you do leave the cave, as I did, expecting Tai to have repositioned himself somewhere on the Temple steps (or more likely in the nearest bar), you'll need to fight your way back down to the bottom of the cave to find him, which was annoying but not fatal.

Keep your eyes open for the Fragment of Dread off in a side passage. It's worth 90 Gold and about 425K XP. Not bad for a grungy old cave filled with ugly mobs.

Love this quest.

Even though I know the cave's layout by heart, I found myself constantly getting lost and turned around due to the incredibly dark lighting and texture. I find this to be a good thing, as it throws out the "I've been in this cave before" feeling. Anything that makes a clone cave feel new is always a good thing, in my book.

I also enjoyed the sudden blackout, and the scream during the Dread Shadow fight. I played a l100 Blood Elf Warlock during this quest, and it never once occurred to me, throughout the time I spent leveling her, that a Blood Elf might be afraid of the dark. Sure, she summons and commands demons, and has faced down the commanders of the Burning Legion, and triumphed over a number of Old Gods... but she's terrified of the dark? I couldn't help but give a few chuckles at the irony.

However, I'm not too keen on how you turn this quest in. I left the cave twice, before it occurred to me that I was supposed to hand in the quest within the cave, and not back at the temple, or at the Shado-Pan garrison.

Doing this for Remix and it's still bugged. The first time I couldn't find the handin so I went off to find some more Dreadlings to kill to finish off the other quest in the cave. I did a circuit and when I came back Tai Ho was there ready to complete the quest.

The second time, I had to relog to get him to appear.

Wanted to give an update for Pandaria Remix. When I finished the quest, the quest giver was not available in the cave. I left the cave, turned in other quests at the Temple and did return to the cave. The quest giver was now available and I was able to complete the quest.

It seems You need to complete the Quest Surpise Attack! for anyhting to show up in the cave otherwise you are phased out.

For those who have empty cave and no mobs spawned, make sure to complete - return the Surprice attack quest first. Is phasing you out and no mobs are available in that area. Once its completed I was able to kill Dread Shadow.

If you're confused/lost, accept quest "Surprise Attack" from Ban Bearheart at Shado-Pan Garrison. Complete that quest and log out. When you log back in, Tai Ho should be visible to you to hand in your other quests.

Description

It is with a heavy heart that I confirm your suspicions. The mantid are indeed under the sway of the Sha of Fear.

It was OUR sworn duty to confine that creature beneath our temple. Unfortunately, our vigil faltered, our defenses buckled, and the sha escaped. It is with the mantid now.

See for yourself. The mantid burrowed into the western side of our island.
