Despite the quest text "Don't forget the gemstone," you do not actually have to pick up anything or otherwise perform any other action other than to return to Diamant.

This quest was for me the quest that resulted in 'Friendly' status with Therazane and the possibility to buy the Therazane tabbard from Therazane Quartermaster D'lom the Collector located at Therazane's Throne. He sells nice enchants and stuff once you improve yor reputation with them. In the same location you will find Therazane <The Stonemother> who gives you the quest Wayward Child (The Stonecore dungeon).

I rode my flying mount out, and kept jumping and that's how I found the real exit. I outran most of the worms, the ghoul taking the hits for me. :) I hate caves. The circling worm doesn't do any harm any more. It's the others.

I just completed this quest and I went from Neutral with Therazane all the way to Honored. Apparently, it used to bump you to Friendly, but has been changed to Honored, probably to make it easier to at least get the lesser shoulder enchants on alts.

Dialogue during the event after the quest:

Therazane says: Is this the one you are wasting your time with, Diamant?
Diamant the Patient says: Not wasted, Stonemother. It has been very useful.
Diamant the Patient says: It stands to reason that it may be here for exactly the reasons it says it is.
Therazane says: Then you take responsibility for its actions, Stone Lord. You will be the one answering to me when it shows its true intent.
Therazane says: And you fleshling, consider for a moment that you are entirely surrounded by rock in this place. The very earth you walk on bends to my will.
Therazane says: If you betray us, there will be no escape for you. I will crush your body so slowly that you shall hear every single one of your bones break.
Therazane says: I'm glad we had this talk.
Diamant the Patient says: You still have much to prove. But you brought the stone. That is an excellent start.
Diamant the Patient says: The other Stone Lords have already heard my words.
Diamant the Patient says: They should show you a degree of trust.
Diamant the Patient says: At least enough so that you can prove yourself.
