Given by Crawgol in Desolation Hold in the South Barrens. You are given a Bucket of Burning Pitch that is to be used right outside Desolation Hold at a mound. After casting, a group of Silithid Swarmers will appear. These have very little health and don't hit hard, so it shouldn't be an issue if you get a bunch. When I did this quest, I got anywhere from 3 swarmers to 8.

For a skinner this is a great quest. The mobs give medium and heavy leather and as noted before they are easy to kill.

Just keep pouring the burning pitch until you have skinned all you want.

Know that during this quest, Silithid Swarmers are spawned. These are tameable as exotic pets for hunters.

The mounds do not sparkle and are not targetable. Just go onto them, and click on the pitch. Have an aoe ready!

I just did the quest and one, the creatures were not tamable and two, they were not skinnable.

I did this with my level 38, Warlock-Demonic. Mounds are all in front of the fort where the quest came from. The insects came in 3's where ever I applied the pitch. My felguard killed more than me, but I got my 10, completed quest. Watch out for Barren's Operatives who sneak around and jump you unexpectedly, as well as flying serpents who are out on patrol around the mounds.Level up!

This took me a while to figure out. The 'mounds' really appear as big freaking piles of rock scattering around the front of the fort. Just use the pitch there and they will come out.

After seeing on wowhead that I did not completed this quest, I run back to Crawgol to start this quest. Not little was my surprise when my 50th level tauren couldn't start the quest since there was no exclamation mark!
Did I miss something?

As it has been said, mounds outside of the Hold but remember to use the button on the mounds to spawn them. Also, you can wait a lil bit and a mound can be done again if you want.

Use the Bucket of Burning Pitch on Silithid Mounds and kill 10 Silithid Swarmers as they emerge.

Description

The silithid! They're bugs, <name>. Or something like bugs. They're not natural... and we built a fortress on the equivalent of an anthill.

Take this burning pitch. It'll set the buggers on fire and plug up their burrows at the same time. Be careful when you pour this stuff on there - the silithid will come out in swarms!

Look for silithid mounds around the exterior of Desolation Hold. They look like heaps of sand. Kill anything that crawls out.
