Actually, when you read the quest log, it says that you should follow the path that Jeer Sparksocket used to get out.
This socalled path starts at a 'Danger' sign @ 36|88

If you look closely you will see somekind of path where there are no mines.
First it goed around some trees and then into the minefield.

This way you can get to the toolbox without exploding any of the mines.
And ofcourse, take the same way back ;)

Best way to do this with druid is to keep spamming flight form. You can eventually get to the middle, but you might want to put a few HoTs on yourself before you try.

marked with a dead gnoll lying on the ground, enter there, theres a big path you can just walk in :)

Approach from West at 34,89 travel between some trees. Stick to the mountains on the right (south) and negotiate to 35,89 from here travel north, then ark back to the west and you have a clear path through the mines to the tools.

Just get your Rocket Helm that you've gotten from a quest in Netherstorm, fly at a high point (high enough for the canons not to hit you) directly above the object (it's easy if you have quest helper)
and drop down, before you reach the bottom (duh...) use the helmet and viola!

As a mage, I just flew onto the mountain beside the mines, aimed, hit slowfall, then jumped. Landed right on top of the tools.

This might be interesting to know for those who really have troubles completing this quest.. for some reason P:

I was trying to get the "Mine Sweeper" achievement so I figured the bigger I was the easier I hit things, but my mammoth that can carry multiple people didn't seem to trigger many at all.. In fact, I could just charge in right to the toolbox without hitting a single mine.
If you really can't manage, or are just too lazy, just ask someone who has a multi-person mammoth.
(Not sure this would work with a chopper, as they're much lower to the ground)

The quest is fun enough but the mine guns or whatever they are have too long of a range. Even across the road they knock you off your flyer. Not a hard quest just annoying.

Found a dead easy way to do it after getting blasted all ways. Get on your mount and get high enough not to get blown off it. When you are right over the tools simply dismount. You die but land directly on the target. Rez in the centre. Voila!

Actually most of you were wrong on this one. You go to "Honest Max" (40,84) who is right next to Skizzle Slickside, the K3 flight master. "Honest Max" is to the left of Skizzle. Get a free loaned riding mount from "Honest Max" and fly to the center of the minefield. No bombs or anything. A jump off icon will be in your toolbar. Click the tools (35,87) then hop back on the mount and go turn in! Easy as that!

Using the Noggenfogger Elixir to reduce size makes it easier to avoid stepping on mines. I ran in from the southwest near the hills, even managing to make one the mines explode, but I was not sent into the air. Try it.

incredibly easy as a pally with cold weather flying. just fly high above the mine field so the anti-air bombs dont activate, and air-drop bubble in.

Well it's easy.If you are a mage(as i do)use blink.Otherwise just tell a rogue to help you.Try to awaid places with many traps and go round them as the name of the quest says just go around traps.

You can just fly above the minefield (far enough so the turrets wont shoot you down) and then fly over the spot with the tools and fly down the turrents wont hit you did it just now (:

going around the trees first

letting the mines knock me in the right direction...
But like Karlis suggested.. your better of dying as close to the tool box as Possible and rezzing

For mage/priest/engineer : Fly high above the toolbox, dismount, and slowfall / levitate / parachute cloak

Everyone else : Take your armor off, fly above the box, fall, and land near the toolbox and you will be able to run back to your corpse and resurrect right next to it with no durability cost.

ha ha, fun quest. it took me a while to figure it out but i decided to fly to the top of the mountain then look over the mine field and i saw a path thst snaked through the field to the toolbox. the path started on the left side then circled around and around the toolbox then went to it

There's an easy trail coming from the westside. If you go to the western side of the field, you'll find a dead tree and a fallen log to the left of it. I got in by following the snow trail starting from the left of the fallen log. There's also a dead gnoll marking the beginning of the trail. There are no mines here, but you still have to be careful to keep a distance away from them. Good luck^^ don't get blown into the air!

Before I started the quest I read the comments here and was informed that the mines would blast me into the way I want to go, if i approach them correctly. I actually had some fun in doing this quest because once a mine blasted me somewhere then another mine would instantly blast me another direction, and then another, and so forth.
So as pala I was happy that I was able to heal myself because else I don't think I would have made it out of the field again alive.
After a couple of tries I landed exactly next to the tools. When I was done I had some more fun with those mines having them blast me back and forth again. Fun quest!

For some reason I just couldn't find the right angle from looking at the screenshots.
I found the right trees so I was sure I was somewhere in the right place. But "somewhere" doesn't cut it, so in the end I had to take some chances and hope I did it right.

I didn't do it quite right, but I realised, that if I could manage to get myself blown inwards towards the item on the ground, there was a small path sort of line running counter clockwise and straight to the item. So even though my life got down to half, I didn't die during the quest.

Getting away from the area was somewhat easier than it was getting into it.

But don't fly over the place, or even around it. You'll get blown off your mound aat a distance where you can't even see the area. So be careful. I was very close to losing myu life on that account twice because I wasn't aware of how far the border actually stretched.

I hope this may help someone.

If you approach the minefield from K3, there is in the outer section two very burnt trees, and then two small chunks of trees a bit further in. Between these two there is a really obvious and safe path to the quest's completion, no need to die.

Simplest soloution!
1. remove all gear to include weapon. (this prevents damage to your gear saving the repair cost)
2. Get on flying mount, fly high enough that you are not shot.
3. Get directly above tool box and dismount (note do not buble)
4. You will die, return to your body and rez next to the tool box directly on it.
5. pick up box and run for it when safe regear.

no need to dodge or disarm mines took less than 1 minute

It now appears that the cannons no longer dismount you, but only nudge you back a little ways. This seems like it might be a side effect of the "knockbacks no longer dismount players" item in the 3.3 patch notes.

Don't think about flying in. The cannons will knock you back, which makes your mount try to land (into mines of course) or shift you out of flight form.

It's hard to describe just exactly how bad this quest blows. I'm never doing this one again. And Genion's dead wrong, you can't just fly over the spot and land without getting hit. I died 3 times trying this before I got lucky and rezzed near the toolbox.

For anyone who has shape shift into flight form, the easiest way I found to get to the tool kit is you shape shift into flight form and keep flying in toward the gnome with the tool kit who's sitting in the middle center area surrounded by all the bombs and danger zones .... keep flying in toward the gnome, you'll see the took kit once you get in close enough... if you get blown , just keep shape shifting into flight , you can go into flight at all times even as your flying through the air because you just got bombed , once you get up close enough to the tool kit just swing low , shape shift out, loot it and quest over. You gotta be quick at the loot ...

It was easy for me but maybe I just got a lucky shot...hope that helps someone

I could always see the beginning of where i could walk a path in but could never quite get to it without an insurpassable tract of mines. Eventually I got blown into an area where i could access the clear path in which i could discern. For sake of expediancy I allowed myself to be blown up and clear of feild to exit. Took a long time trying to align screenshots given in such a manner that i could find safe entrance to pathway but was tiring of the time it was taking to attempt this quest and in the end decided the blow me in metthod would be best. Healed after each explosive session and eventually got my "in" route.

My strategy to do this quest involves a suicide, but if you're willing to sacrifice a bit of repair gold to do it, it's really easy. Fly up while out of range of the turrets. go high enough that you can just barely see the ground. Then fly to the point where the tools are, but don't go down yet (Use an addon like QuestHelper to give you the exact positioning). Dismount, fall to the ground and die, and then go rez. If everything went right, you'll be right next to the tools. Then, just get yourself blown out by the mines.

If you're a rogue, you can get through by using Disarm Trap while in stealth. Just click on the mines around you, advancing forward. They respawn pretty quickly, though, so move forward fast.

It's so strange, but is everyone else reserecting on a flying mount?

I tried it first on foot, but ended up getting blown around five times before it deposited me right in front of the tools which I was able to grab. I tried to mount and fly straight up, but the turrets did me in twice.

If you're sufficiently careful (and very lucky), it's possible to use the blast of the mines to catapult yourself in and out of the field.

I tried the flying in and landing right on top of the loot item--three times. I got blown up each time. Finally, I went back and did it the old-fashioned way: I walked in.

I set my 'walk/run' setting to walk. Then went around the far side (left of the warning sign) by the mountain side. I clung hard to the mountain until I cleared the beginning mines. Then, I dropped down onto the path. Passing between two trees, I stayed on the path, centered, walking slowly. It's a sort of spiral, counter-clockwise path up to the poor guy stuck in the center.

Once I got the loot-item, I hearthed out.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but as a Rogue I used Shadowstep to jump to 'Janks', the Goblin who sits by the tools. Saved me a lot of time and hassle since I didn't have to run through the mine field! :D

I just noticed that my monk can use Flying Serpent Kick through all the mines without blowing them up as long as I land next to the toolbox in the middle of the minefield where there are no mines!

Just tried to do this quest while waiting for WoD to hit, trying to make up some time going back and getting "Loremaster" done. As of 10-28-14 this quest is still broke and you cannot loot the toolbox.

So yeah quest is bugged, toolbox isn't clickable. But you won't believe the response Blizzard gave to my ticket about this:

"The issue you reported is either something we are not able to assist with, or we are unable to verify that all of the criteria were met. At this time, we are not able to assist with granting progress or completion.

•Just Around the Corner: Characters should now be able to interact with Sparksocket's Tools.

Note that there is a currently (October 13, 2014) a known issue as reported in 6.0.2 Known Issues - Updated 10/27/14 with this quest:

••Players are not able to interact with the Sparksocket's Tools for the quest "Just Around the Corner".

The Blue Post by Zorbrix also states:

•The issues listed here are frequently reported issues that may be addressed at a later date via a client patch.
•Forum threads that report issues already on this Known Issues list may be locked if they are constantly bumped with no new, relevant information.

Not problem at all as a mage. Cast Slow Fall on yourself, mount up on your flying mount and then fly really high above the mine field so the turrets don't get you. Stop when you hover over the tools, right-click to dismiss your mount and gently glide straight down to pick up the tools.

If you have trouble positioning yourself, it might be helpful to summon a (non-flying) battle pet so you can judge your position better, as they will stay on the ground right below you.

I reckon this strategy should also work for paladins using Divine Shield, warriors using Heroic Leap to target the ground, perhaps priests using Levitate? Any class that can survive a fall from a great height, really.

There are two NPC's called Bailey and Berringer. /target one of them. That's where I started from and got through fairly easily. Granted I used heroic leap... so maybe a blink or a leap might be a good idea. Sorry I can't be of more help, I know how horrible this quest can be.

submitting SS. Starts at the sign going toward hillside rocks just to left of trees. You'll find a fairly wide gap. I found it by accident, not these tips.

OMG, I tried all of the above and failed. What did work though for those who are as challenged as I am this is what I did. If you have flying, fly way above the tool box then dismount and die on the toolbox. While still in spirit form go back to the tool box and rez. Click the tool box and Holly Crap it worked. Mount in the same spot and fly high over the bombs and you're out of there...done deal! Good Luck!

Jeer Sparksocket at K3 would like Sparksocket's Tools retrieved from his minefield.

Description

Blast it! Where are my tools? I had them here just a moment ago.

Oh! I probably forgot them when I was setting up that minefield in the west. That's mildly inconvenient. I'd be quite appreciative if you could go get them for me. You'll need to watch your step though... you should be able to use the same path that I did to get out.

Oh, and don't try to fly in... I had the presence of mind to set up turrets to shoot down anything that might fly, and they aren't very discerning in who they target.
