On a side note, name of this quest comes from "The Hills Have Eyes" horror movie by Wes Craven (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077681/), with a recent remake by Alexandre Aja (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454841/).

*Warning*: Once you accept this quest is automatically puts you on a Griffin to Grizzly Hills. I accepted it not wanting to go anywhere because I wanted to quest in DragonBlight and it carried me off. =P

Easy quest, just ride the griffin. He takes you through a horde town and some horde scouts chase you.

Are you kidding blizzard? I see this quest so I accept in (on my way to get the Flight Path here). and it SHOOTS me off onto this long boring mission that takes me to Grizzly Hills which I had no intention of going to. Then, since I didn't have the FP I had to Fly 6 MINUTES back to Dragonblight for 1/6g and then RUN back there. THANKS BLIZZARD!

It's funny, I think Blizzard screwed up with the Gryphon Rider's speach :P This is what he says when you land in Amberpine Lodge:

Wintergarde Gryphon Rider says: I think we lost 'em! That was a close one! Welp, as promised, Amberpine Lodge in one piece! Keep your feet on the ground, friend!

Welp?

And yes, I accidentally accepted this quest and BAM I was off to Amberpine lol. I had the FP back, so I just let it fly out.

Blizzard definately needs to add a step between accepting the quest, and getting airborne.

Dispite that, the Horde giving chase is novel.

L2 Read quest 1st?

Tell me where in the quest description it says it will fly you there. It's a pretty standard "report to this guy in this other zone" quest description. I did read the quest before accepting it, figuring I'd turn it in when I went questing there later.

This is the worst quest, design-wise. Who thought it was a good idea to send you off to another zone? The worst part is, for most people, Winterguarde Keep will be the second place they go to after Stars' Rest in Dragonblight, and they send you off without choice other then accepting the quest, but who seriously reads quests before accepting them?

Now you're in Grizzly Hills and there's a chance you had not gotten the FP to the Keep, so you're stranded there or have to ride back to the Keep. So dumb.

Part 1 (Into Grizzly Hills, making friends)

The Hills Have Us (Ride a gryphon from Dragonblight to Amberpine Lodge in Grizzly Hills)
Local Support (Collect Cedar Chest (in a house guarded by 3 hordes))
Close the Deal (Simply go to Ivan)
A Tentative Pact (Simply go back to Lieutenant Dumont)
An Exercise in Diplomacy (Yet another go-to quest. Go to Envoy Ducal)
Total: 46700 xp, 575 Valiance Expedition rep

Part 2 (Helping the northern locals)
Finishing part 1 unlocks 2 independent quests

Wolfsbane Root (Collect 8 Wolfsbane Roots around 28.5, 38.5)
Northern Hospitality (Kill 8 Conquest Hold Marauders)

I'm using a leveling guide and am lvl 77 and have followed the guide to a T. It now has me here at the FM Urik, to accept this quest, but hes not offering it. He just says his birds are the best or something.

Anyone know why I'm not being offered the quest? Was there a prereq I missed somehow?

This is a rather easy quest and pretty good if you've never been to Grizzly Hills. The quest reward only gives 5150 exp, however if you've never been to Grizzly Hills before you'll gain 6250 exp for discovering places while flying over them on this type of Gryphon.
That's 11400 exp for a "Go and talk to this NPC" type quest that usually gives about 2k exp.

Just checked and you actually need to be lvl 73 to take the quest for some reason.
Was there on 72, nothing.
Got lvl 73, and there was the quest all of a sudden.

Level 72 alliance without the suggested villager's quest completed, this quest was available for me, so the question remains as to why it's not available to you.

Fun ride with the bonus of getting xp for discovering areas. My poor little blueberry kept up on the ground as long as he could.....

It's also worth noting that you can jump off the Gryphon at any time during the flight path without taking lethal damage (you get given a parachute). Potentially useful if you want to head that way without running or taking the whole flight.

Report to Lieutenant Dumont at Amberpine Lodge in western Grizzly Hills.

Description

While we focus to hold our ground at Wintergarde and deal with the unfolding events of the Wrathgate, battalions from as far away as Westfall battle their way through the dense foliage and inhospitable denizens of Grizzly Hills. All in hopes of finding an alternate route into Icecrown.

Lieutenant Dumont, stationed at Amberpine Lodge, has enlisted the aid of able bodied citizens willing to risk life and limb in the uncharted wilds. Will you rise to meet this challenge?
