The Curse of Flesh is an affliction suffered by some of the decedents of Azeroth's seed races, notably the dwarves and the gnomes. The curse changed the structure and appearance of these races from their original stony/metallic forms into the fleshy forms we know today.

The quest has you re-cursing (hence the name) gnomes who became re-metallicized by Gearmaster Mechazod.

In addition to this, the format chosen for the quest name is probably a reference to the Decursive mod.

You don't have to kill these yourself. You can use the quest item on any dead Mechagnome that is lieing around (in other words: you still get credit for mechagnomes killed and tagged by other players).

I just couldn't help but notice (this will make me soun dlike a nerd I'm sure) but this quest is VERY similar to Star Trek : First Contact in which the borg "assimilate" the crew turning them into cyborgs. Very much like this quest.

There's a nice spot of gnome all along the pipe at 59.8 ;17.3. I putted a screenshot of the pipe I'm talking about. After you've killed them you just have to use the Re-cursive Transmatter Injection on them and you'll do the quest! =D

The quest was a problem for me as a lvl 69 cothie priest. It was difficult to attack the gnomes without getting mobbed by all the mechanicals running around. I ended up fighting as many as 3 lvl 70's or 71's at once and that often did not turn out well.

One thing that was not mentioned is the fact that as you fly around looking for these guys (assmuning you have a flying mount), you will be taking fire from 71 lvl mechanicals on the ground. The mechanical mobs are much more numerous than the gnomes, and quest mobs normally have red letters above them. The gnomes didn't, and of course they are small, making it harder to see them. As was mentioned previously, they are mostly near the pipes.

What normally happened to me was that by the time I located a gnome that I could attack, I had already taken some damage from the ground. I got on the ground and attacked the gnome. I had to fight him as well as at least one or two other 70 or 71 lvl mechanicals. I used up all my mana attacking and healing and eventually died. When I rezzed, a ranged or other mechanical attacked before I could buff or get on my flying mount, and I died again.

Now we all know what agro is and one of the techniques that we all use is to try not to agro other mobs when we are attacking the ones that are the object of the quest we are doing.

That is not possible in this quest. The ranged mechanicals make this quest a nighmare for a priest at my level. Not only do they attack you while you are flying around, but on the ground as well. Some of the priest attack spells, like smite, take almost 2 seconds to cast, making things even more difficult.

I would estimate that i died about a dozen times before I got all the gnomes "re-cursed." The main difficulty was the fact that there were alot of mobs in the area combined with the fact that some of them use ranged attacks.

Because the quest text isn't descriptive enough it took me a bit before I discovered that you have to use the Re-Cursive Transmatter Injection on their corpses. Make sure you loot them first or you won't get your loot.

The gnomes can be mined after looting them - but if you do, the corpse disappear and you can't re-curse it.

April 2023 - Years since I've done this one. I'm mentioning this in case anyone else might be getting frustrated with the success rate of bringing these guys back from their Mechagnome state. Now w/ the new interface where instead of using the item (Re-cursive Transmatter Injection) either from your bag or the quest log, you simply point your cursor on the dead Mechagnome and you're good to go. Yes, I was looting them before using the injector, but kept having like, NO success. Killed thirty +, no curing/healing/teleporting back. Then I realized when I was using the injector, I was RIGHT-clicking w/ my mouse (after looting). Once I switched to LEFT-clicking w/ my mouse, they finally started being teleported. I have mixed feelings about this quest now because I'm doing it on my MECHAGNOME alt and I wish it had updated dialog. Ah well. Hopefully this will help someone... Happy questing!

If you listened to the old man, then you know that we have gnomes out there that were changed. Gearmaster Mechazod infected them with something that reversed the "Curse of the Flesh", and now they're robots!

We think we have a way to re-curse them back to normal. We want you to take this re-cursive transmatter injection and use it on the corpses of any mechagnomes you come across.

We're hoping that this stuff will cure them and allow us to lock onto them to port 'em out of there.
