Accidentally soloed at 70 as a moderately geared (999 spelldamage) Holy Paladin. When mounted the mob's title is just "Lunchbox" and does not appear to be Elite. Killing the mount is simple enough, but then the rider jumps off and is Elite. He doesn't hit very hard, however and I easily took him down despite drawing aggro from a nearby Kodo Calf who wandered into my Consecration.

So don't worry that this is listed as a "group" quest, at least at this point in the beta. He's quite easy.

Found roaming around 47, 44 in the herd of rhinos. Nedar is riding Lunchbox, who is a lvl 71 normal mob. Once Lunchbox is killed, Nedar will dismount and shoot with his bow that does about 300-350 damage on leather. He doesn't seem to have any special attacks and is fairly easy to solo.

This could be a reference to the British comedian Eddie Izzard, who when talking about the Romans and "stealing" the Greek pantheon, makes up the names of the Roman's previous "crap gods", such as Jeff, the God of Biscuits... and Simon, the God of Hair-Dos. A thing to think of when fighting him at the spawn point, the Luchbox mob (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=25968) and Nedar, lord of the rhinos (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=25801) are counted as two diferent mobs so if you kill luchbox and then continue fighting ned you may get a respawn of Lunchbox right on you while fighting Ned. So if you are trying to kill him try to walk away from the spawning point.

Easy trick for this is to cc (for classes that can) Nedar. As rogue I sapped Ned and killed Lunchbox, then healed myself with bandages and proceeded with Ned. Easy as pie.

One of the above comments is very correct. The respawn time on this guy is very fast. What I did is I went to the area where it shows he spawns (check the links for the mobs at the top of the page) I didn't see him so while alt-tabbing to check it, I hear fighting going on, and the two found me. As a 71 enhancement shaman, it's not that hard. Feral Spirit, maybe an elemental, wear 'em down. As soon as I finished killing Ned, he AND Lunchbox spawned again. I killed Lunchbox, and tried to get Ned away from the area when they both spawned again, but luckily didn't aggro. So you can see the importance of not sticking around the spawning area.

This was rly easy 2 solo as a lvl 72 enhancement shaman, just pop shamanistic rage and done ^^ (if ur lower you might wanna use heroism and/or elemetal)

Soloed as a crappy geared frost mage (500 spell damage). Used a potion, but I don't reckon it was really needed. "Lunchbox" is immune to nova, but Ned himself isn't.

I would be highly advisable to kill lunchbox first, especially if you are in a group or happen to be a hunter.

(The reason for this is that no matter how much aggro you have on Ned, the person with the most aggro on Lunchbox will be attacked.)

Meaning that that if your pet is tanking Ned and you attack Lunchbox, Lunchbox will charge at you and you will not be able to attack either (due to the fact that hunters can not attack at 0 range). If you do it the other way around, (pet tanking Lunchbox) Ned will be stuck on Lunchbox and unable to attack you.

The easiest elite to kill, ever. Solo'd as a crappy 72 rogue (merc weps, shoulders, chest, 1400AP). Sapping Ned first definitely helped, but would have been simple without as well.

One other thing, this guy has the fastest respawn I have ever seen. Mount up as soon as you can, he literally respawned right on top of me no more than 10 secs after killing him.

Soloed as level 70 enhance shaman. Just went upto him and started attacking him. Then poped Feral Spirit and was constantly healed by my spirit wolves. First you have to kill his kodo, then he gets off and you have to kill him. Although watch out, I must be at his spawn point or something, because the minute I killed him, another one of these attacked me. So I would recommend getting out of there as soon as possible.

This might sound like a long shot, but...
On episode S01E08, aired November 28, 2007, of Pushing Daisies, Chuck calls Ned the "Lord of the Pies", which is in turn a reference to Lord of the Flies, of course. Only other connection is there being a lot of dead things/beings involved, though.
Also, "Lunchbox" is a similar joke as "Pie Hole", Ned's pie restaurant in the series.

But watch out. Before I finished, a new Ned rezzed right on top of me. As stated in the comments before, don't kill him near the spawn point.

Still completely buggy about spawn time.

Wandered that way, saw ned. Killd the pair. Immediately respawned. Killed them again. Couldn't move away fast enough, respawned.

I'm a hunter so played dead and let the cat die. He rode off.

Blizzard still hasn't learned to program. Pretty graphics aren't enough. Too many bugs...

Right after killing him, i went north around the lake to turn the quest in and came across him again at 41.1, 40.0. So he should respawn near there and does so quickly.

While Ned is very easy to solo, his respawn rate has to be one of the fastest I've ever seen. It has to be less than thirty seconds or so! When I did this quest I rode up to a Gnome Rogue finishing Ned off. Nearly instantly after Ned died another one spawned. I was pretty happy at that point because it meant I didn't have to wait around. Yet right after -I- finished him off (it didn't take long at all) yet ANOTHER one of him respawned and started chasing me around.

Easy solo'd by a 71 Mut rogue, all you have to do is sap the elite rider and then take out the Rhino, get full health and just fight him (he is a 72 elite with 19220 health)

Easily soloed as a 70 Shadow Priest. Just Cast Vamp Embrace, Dev Plague, SW: P, Mind Flay before he gets near, then fear when he is near and just DoT kite. With Vamp Touch on you can also SW: D since you'll gain back HP from DoTs. If ya wanna speed it up, wait for fear again and Mind Flay/Mind Blast.

Just went do do it myself as a rogue and was thinking about how to maybe sap Ned and kill lunchbox (before coming to this page). Turns out Ned was standing my himself where they normally spawn and Lunchbox was wandering around by himself out with the other rhinos. Killed them each alone and.. quest complete. Easy. Maybe it was changed?

Just solo'ed as a lvl 70 druid, killed Lunchbox and then as soon as Ned got to the ground I pulled out my Treants while I healed myself once and then was able to finish him off, altogether pretty easy.

Solo'ed this guy on a 71 frost mage. Summoned elemental and used Freeze. when freeze hit, another Ned spawned so had 2 to fight, how weird is that?. Proceeded to kill one, while sheeping the other. Polymorph did not stick so had to use frost nova, and blink to get away. Both went down easy with max range, and spamming frostbolt, and using frost nova when not on cooldown. I was really surprised that a 72 eilte could be that easy.

Just a few things: 1.) The fight bugged for me. I killed lunchbox and ned just sat there on him shooting me w/ his bow and I had to jump up to attack him otherwise it would be the old "out of range" message. I had to loot and then friggin' skin lunchbox in order to get ned off the stupid thing. 2.) Even after the fight going so poorly, I was able to solo both on my own as a lvl 71 rogue w/ greens and blues from questing and some WotLK dungeons.

Had a strange bug. I tried to sheep lunchbox, he attacked me and I was a bit sloppy, I died. But I did kill lunchbox. Then I res'd. Gy is very close, I saw the dead lunchbox (alone) as I ate after res. I also saw another ned and thought "ok, he respawned." Then I tabbed and checked wowhead. When I returned, I saw Ned on dead lunchbox. I cast a few spells, spells did damage but didn't show how much damage. At some point (about ned's 40% health), I started seeing numbers again and got the kill without any trouble.

Solo'd as a Level 70 Prot warrior.

Did roughly 600dps throughout the fight - was a sinch. He doesn't hit hard (About 300-400) and "Lunchbox" has bout 9k hp with Ned having about 13k.

Very easy group quest, don't even have a moment of worry. Just pop your cd's if you are and you'll be fine.

Edit: Also, I found him wondering the planes round 47, 44 where the rhinos were, and to Moonfeather's suggestion.

Hard to believe this is supposed to be an elite. Easy to solo at level 71 (I did it as a fury warrior), EXCEPT watch out for his fast respawn. I estimate less than a minute between respawns, and I don't mean from the time he dies, I mean from one respawn to the next, whether he's dead or not. I had him down to 10% easily when he respawned right on top of me while the first one was still alive. The second one outlasted me and I died. Pretty lame move by Blizzard on that one, but just let him move away from his spawn point before you take him on and you should be okay.

If you kill him near to Harold Lane, he respawns very quickly. Last night I managed to have 9 Nedars attacking me simultaneously.

Have yet to come across a difficult boss in Northrend, I'm sure they will come. Soloed as a medium-geared level 74 rogue (using 41/5/19 pvp spec) without losing a single health point. Sap the elite and kill the rhino. The elite drops from the dead rhino still sapped =) Stealth, then ambush/gouge/stunlock to half health, before popping evasion. I guess I got lucky with the dodges, but still an easy fight. Definitely not a group quest!

Soloed with 70 assa rogue. Sap Ned, kill the pet and then kill Ned. Didn't even have to use Evasion... Blackjack is almost a need!

Solo'd as a 72 frost mage.. had a slight problem when my ice barrier shattered and aggro'd a large group of rhinos.. ended up dying, but got the kill first. I'd suggest kiting away from the rhinos before that happens, or be ready to fight them all.

Level 70 Hunter....let pet attack....take out Lunch Box...easy....Ned jumps down to attack your pet....don't do anything but heal your pet....continue to heal over and over and over...your pet will have full life and it will stay there as long as you keep healing.

Once Ned is low on life....take him out! So far this game plan has worked on all of the elites in various quests.

Easily done as a 71 kitty in mostly quest greens. Kill the Rhino, max out combo points on Ned, then finish him off with a Ferocious Bite. The entire fight takes less than a minute.

I literally had to kill them 3 times on my DK (lvl 69, nice) because they kept spawning right on top of me after like 10 seconds and I couldn't mount up fast enough to get away. Super annoying.

Killinger the Den Watcher at the D.E.H.T.A. Encampment in the Borean Tundra wants you to kill Nedar, Lord of Rhinos and his companion, "Lunchbox."

Description

West of here, on the high bluffs above Lake Kum'uya, roams a despicable being known as Nedar. The self proclaimed "Lord of Rhinos" hunts the wastes for the injured or young - rhinos unable to defend themselves against his cowardly attacks. To add insult to injury, Nedar has raised a rhino of his own to become his mount and bodyguard.

It is a rare thing that D.E.H.T.A. would ever call for the death of an animal, but Nedar's tainted rhino must be disposed of... Kill them both and return to me.
