Very basic and straight forward quest.

Have 2x Ribs and 1x Crunchy Serpent in your bags (if not, then fly east of Toshley's Station and get meat from the Wind Serpents and Raptors 67,65) and cook that up.

From there, fly to the South West edge of the Blade's Edge map to Forge Camp: Terror (30,77) and take down an Abyssal (looks like a hyper active Infernal). Careful of the Fel Flak Cannon...they hit hard.

Cook it up and you're done.

My buddy picked up a blue receipe from the Meat Crate - I got a rock...

As far as the Shortribs and Crunchy Serpents go, Alliance can purchase the recipes from a vendor at Toshley's Station:

It's worth noting that you don't need to personally kill an Aybssal to cook over it, a corpse killed by someone else will work just as well.

Xerintha Ravenoak in Evergrove also sells the recipes for the horde who have sold theirs to the vendor, and then leveled cooking. They are limited supply though with only 1 of each.

The quest is written incorrectly since it gives no indicator of needing 2x Shortribs. You have to go through the process of thinking the quest is bugged, and then look online haha.

Actually, Grimflower, if you look at your cooking pot, it tells you exactly what you need to create the stew.

Edit: Like the quest says, you should note that you are given the cooking pot when you accept the quest. The quest isn't written incorrectly, because although the values in the log are vague, the exact list is listed on the item you receive. Hopefully that clears things up for the other cooking quests too!

I find quite a few serpents and raptors North of Toshley's at 62,55 - 65,54 - 68,60.

Then I set out for 32,80 and drop a cooking fire to make my ribs & crunchy serpent while waiting for one of the two Abyssals to path by. ^_^

If you're doing these quests, keep some of the ingredients needed stashed in bank or something, 'cause they're round-robin. Not having to go gather the ingredients every time you want to do the quest, makes you actually want to do them.

You can buy flint and tinder at sylvanaar, there's a merchant there if you forgot yours in the bank.

Requires 275 cooking to use the cooking pot, and presumably to get the quest (my pally with 293 cooking could get the quest, my shammy with 125 couldn't).

The ingredient food itself requires higher levels of skill to cook, but it is quite possible to buy it or make it on another character, then get the quest ingredient & use the cooking pot on your less skilled character (I've been doing it this way on my pally).

Coming from Shattrah there is a sweet spot to kill the abyssal if you already have the ingredients. Fly to 28.86 which is right on the border of Zangarmarsh and BEM. There is an abyssal with his back to you right there. No adds, no canons, no problems! Much quicker than any other way.

The abyssal's corpes doesn't have to be from the one you killed. If you stumble on a dead one that someone else killed, use it!

The bodies cannot be used to cook the ingredients, so be sure you cook the stuff before you go (or bring fire making supplies).

For those of you who forget to restock on wood and also forget to cook the food *cough, like me, cough*... There is a bonfire that you can cook on that is easily accessible with a flying mount near the Abyssal Flamebringers. This is located at 34.2, 77.9

Yes, you can do it without flying, if you have a warlock summon you up there. Which of course requires one warlock + two others with flying mounts to get up there and click the portal.

I have no idea why this wasn't mentioned before, but to anyone who doesn't have a flying mount, don't even bother. You can't even access the area to cook the ingredients without one. I just wasted a half hour only to realize this.

Persistent people plagued by the plight of - yeeeaah enough consonance there. People that are still doing the Outland cooking daily quests in hopes of getting that last recipe for The Outland Gourmet may want to start choosing the Barrel of Fish over the Crate of Meat now. Sure the drop rates for recipes like Stormchops seem to be more common in the Crate of Meat, but who is to say that was just biased towards people that wanted meat to cook over fish to cook for the buffs they respectively give.

Now why would I say that you should choose this one now? Well not only have I gotten recipes from this as living proof, but with the nerfed amount of gold these old school dailies do, getting the occasional Goldenscale Vendorfish out of the barrel has proven to make it more worthwhile than that of what you would get from the Crate of Meat, especially considering that the food that can be cooked from either container does not sell for nearly as much as it did back when BC was the current expansion. Just my two cents. :)

Also worth nothing, that if you can't fly, you can jump off the cliff, right above Sylvanaar (37,61) , and basically die. When you go to the graveyard, you end up in Ogri'la, then just go south, and you end up at Forge Camp Terror. Res sickness does apply, Hearth out.

This might be obvious to some, but I found myself flying from Blade's Edge back to Shattrath after obtaining my ingredients.

Instead of HS'ing in an obsolete capital, I'd save this quest for some of the last things I'd do before I log off.

This way you can HS to Dalaran and portal to Shattrath. Turn in the quest and log off.

I finished this quest yesterday... without a mount. You just have to be willing to die to complete it lol. Go north of Sylvanaar while staying as far to the west as you can and when you jump and fall into bladespire hold your graveyard is up top. After that its fairly simple stuff. Oh and if you brainfart and start jumping down to get your corpse and can't get back up you can just go to a different gy (I prefer to leave the area and go to the first one in Zangarmarsh) and it'll rez you back at the one you were assigned to.

Every part of this quest can be done in a raid group. (Getting drops from mobs in BEM, cooking it over Flamebringer's corpse, turning quest in.)

The cooking recipes for this quest, Crunchy Serpent and Mok'Nathal Shortribs, can be acquired from Sassa Weldwell (61.2, 68.9) at Toshley's Station (southwest corner of Blade's Edge Mountains, inside Death's Door). Unfortunately, for those working on The Outland Gourmet The Outland Gourmet and Kickin' It Up a Notch Kickin' It Up a Notch achievements, these recipes do become soulbound and cannot be sold or traded.

After acquiring the recipes, head to Scalewing Shelf/Razor Ridge between Death's Door and Vekhaar Stand. There you will find Scalewing Serpents http://www.wowhead.com/npc=20749#drops and Daggermaw Lashtails http://www.wowhead.com/npc=20749#drops, both of which drop Serpent Flesh and Raptor Ribs. (I found most of mind around 68,68)

Once you have 2 X Raptor Ribs and 1 X Serpent Flesh, build a Basic Campfire and cook your recipes. Then head to Forge Camp: Terror and kill an Abyssal Flamebringer http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19973#drops. As someone else mentioned, watch out for the Legion Flak Cannons. They are elites and will start shooting at you as soon as you enter the area.

Cook up your Super Hot Stew, head back to Shatt, and collect your reward. Both the Barrel of Fish and the Crate of Meat drop recipes pertinent to The Outland Gourment; however, as with similar quest rewards (i.e. Bag of Fishing Treasures), you may also end up with some junk.

Now that there's 2 achievements for raw/uncooked fish looted/caught (The Limnologist The Oceanographer), the Barrel of Fish is what I usually choose in hopes of finding the elusive Goldenscale Vendorfish for The Limnologist + other fish from the barrel count toward these.

At Scalewing Shelf (around 67.6 64.9) in Blade's Edge Mountains you find both: Serpent Flesh and Raptor Ribs you'll need for 1x Crunchy Serpent and 2x Mok'Nathal Shortribs. Take the cooked stuff to Forge Camp: Terror around 28.0 80.7, kill an Abyssal Flamebringer, walk into his remaining "body" and click Rokk's cooking pot. That's it.

If you don't already have the recipes for the ribs and crunchy serpent and/or the meat for them, this can be a real PITA quest for a daily. The next time this pops up it should be no problem...

I had never explored Blade's Edge so wasn't quite sure of the landscape and what dropped what. The few minutes to figure that all out was the worst for me.

I purchased the recipes from the food & drink vendor in Ruuan Weald. Easy. Then had to find the meat. The best drops I found came from an area just NE of Death's Door. Scalewing Serpents and Daggermaw Lashtails. It's also a nice opportunity to farm some knothide leather. The meat drops did not come quickly, so I stuck around to get a couple extra for next time. Once the food is cooked, it is all downhill. Head to Forge Camp: Terror, do some killing and cook away! I just hearthstoned outta there, viola!

Okay lets make this simple.

You need the following cooking recipes.
-Crunchy Serpent
-Mok'Nathal Shortribs

If you don't have those you can get them at Ruuan Weald in Blade's Edge Mountains, from Xerintha Ravenoak. Those are some of the recipes that you can only buy once a day or something like that.

To cook these you need.
-Serpent Flesh x1 for Crunchy Serpent
-Raptor Ribs x2 for each Mok'Nathal Shortrib

You can kill these mobs around Death's Door, south from where you get the recipes. Kill Scalewing Serpent and Daggermaw Lashtail. But I believe any raptor around this place will do.

Once you have those, go South to Forge Camp Terror, and kill an Abyssal Flamebringer and mix the two recipes on his dead body and you're all done.

Now this is how I did it, could be other ways, but it was the fastest way for me, on my first try.

If you don't have the recipes for this quest (Mok'Nathal Shortribs and Crunchy Serpent), visit Evergrove in Ruuan Weald, in Blade's Edge. Both recipes are purchased from Xerintha Ravenoak, however it is in a limited quantity so you might have to wait a bit to get them.

Once you have those, fly south to the Scalewing Shelf, which is next to Death's Door in Blade's Edge. You'll need to kill Scalewing Serpents and Daggermaw Lashtails until you have:

Serpent Flesh x1
Raptor Ribs x2

Then head west to Forge Camp: Terror. Cook your Crunchy Serpent and your Shortribs, kill an Abyssal Flamebringer, and then use the pot while standing on its' corpse. Done!

The recipes needed for this quest can be purchased from Sassa Weldwell at Toshley's Station. Sassa Weldwell is in the tallest building there with the moving elevator. You can see her standing just inside the door. She is not the only NPC who sells the recipes, but while you're in that area, you can kill the nearby raptors and wind serpents for the meat that you need.

I'd like to add the fact if you're collecting battle pets at all you'll find the Cogblade Raptor on the scalewing shelf/razor ridge while you kill raptors and wyverns for your quest's mats! These little guys aren't part of zookeeper and I found them just by flying through the area. Another great addition to the 400!

Might seem obvious, but if you take the time to collect several dailies' worth of Raptor Ribs and Serpent Flesh at once, you'll save yourself the tedium of hunting them down every time you do this quest.

Go to Sassa Weldwell (61.2, 68.9) in Blade's Edge Mountains. Buy two recipes of Mok'Nathal Shortribs and Crunchy Serpent. Kill raptors and flying serpents to east. Once you can create 2 Mok'Nathal Shortribs and 1 Crunchy Serpent, Head West (will be highlighted on your map) and kill an Abyssal. From the abyssals remains you can craft the soup and then fly back to hand in quest.

Some people said you can go to evergrove to get the recipes from npc trade good but she only has the crunchy serpent one now if you goto Mok' Nathal village and see inn keeper Matron Varah she has a quest to give you both receipes and 3 of each crunchy serpent and the ribs for bringing her 3 of each serpent flesh and 3 raptor ribs for quest. have fun

If you plan on cooking this yourself, you will need 2 recipes which can be purchased from Xerintha Ravenoak located in Evergrove, Blade's Edge Mountains in Outland (/way 62.4 40.2 Xerintha Ravenoak):

To make these recipes, you need the following ingredients:

1x Serpent Flesh - can be acquired from Scalewing Serpent located north and east of Death's Door in Blade's Edge Mountains or other creatures
2x Raptor Ribs - can be acquired from Bladespire Raptor located around Bladespire Hold in Blade's Edge Mountains or other creatures

Cook or purchase from auction:

1x Crunchy Serpent
2x Mok'Nathal Shortribs

Head to Forge Camp: Terror in southwest Blade's Edge Mountains, kill an Abyssal Flamebringer, and while standing by its corpse, click on the cooking pot to create Demon Broiled Surprise. Turn the quest back in to The Rokk in Shattrath.

Get the daily cooking quests from The Rokk at /way 61.6 15.8. Only 1 daily available at a time. Rewards the Crate of Meat or the Barrel of Fish. Auction House in Shattrath is at /way 51.2 26.9 if you need to buy any items.

I'm trying to invent something with some real zing. But to be honest, I'm more of an idea goblin these days. I've lost my sense of adventure.

But you... remind me of my younger days; ready to take on the world with a sword in one hand and a skillet in the other.

I want you to take my beloved cooking pot and head out to Blade's Edge. Throw in some shortribs and crunchy serpent--already cooked for extra flavor--and broil it over an abyssal's corpse, the only thing hot enough to do the trick.
