You can find Megalith at 68,11 -- as of right now on Beta servers as a 72 Shadow priest in t6, I can solo him - He doesn't hit that hard and has like no HP.

I did the rune of command quest right before so I could have the minions keep hitting him while he threw me all over. knockback/fall damage hurts!

T6 level 72 Shadow Priest... I thought the giants leading up to Megalith (hitting me for 1k), a man quest, where significantly harder than this mob, a man quest. Easily soloable without enslaved giant-friend.

Also, he had < 10k health when I just killed him.

Solo'd as a 73 Mage, but probably could have done it at a lower level. I opened with Pyroblast, then did frost bolt and turned around and blinked. Then did two fireballs and then a frostbolt. Then blinked. Frostbolted again and fireballed and dragon's breath and dead. He moves REALLY SLOW when frostbolted.

If you do this as a Warlock, you don't lose your pet, which is interesting. The Stone kid keeps him pretty occupied as he stuns frequently. It'll only attack if you get physically attacked, so you may want to wince and take one for the team before running your butt off, make sure you get a head start.

Very very easy to solo as fury warr lvl 72, t6 geared. Lost about 2k of HP. Only put up demo shout and smacked his ass. Should be doable at lower lvls too.

Solo'd with my level 71 affliction lock. Used Voidwalker to tank and put curse of agony and corruption on Magalith.

Healed Voidwalker with Health Funnel and used Soulshatter when (if) I generated too much hate.

Completely smoked this guy as a level 72 enhancement shaman. As noted above, he is much easier than the giants earlier in the chain.

For those without cords: he is at the upper right part of the map. Just follow the path up the mountain and you will run into him. As a hunter I sent pet in and just auto shot til he charged me, mended pet and took a few hits and FD'd, he then attacked pet again, Band aid, then ran in and set Frost trap, backed up and spammed con. shot and steady shot. Worked for me.

Fight him at 67,10 on the hill, easily solo'd by a horribly geared L70 Unholy Death Knight, a nice tip is to have him fighting you with you uphill of him, when he knocks up up and back you land with NO FALL DAMAGE. Super easy with that trick.

Indeed easily soloable, he has arround 27k health and hits about 1k on cloth. I'm balance druid lvl 71, kara/badge geared - just moonfire and root him, and then he's down in 2 sec and i was on 83% health when i left him. So he is indeed soloable! found him at 69,14.

Level 71 feral druid. I got wacked hard by the Runed Stone Giants, (died the firrst time), so I assumed that this guy would be harder.

Musch easier. I don't do PVP and don't have any Kara gear (got a few purples I made from leatherworking). I ate seom stam food and had an agility buff, but given that I had about 75% health in bear form at the end and no heals, I probably could have done it without them.

Soloed him as Lvl 72 Holy Priest. Make sure you use your Shadowfend and Lightwell. I have mostly SSC/TK gear with few MH pieces. My SP was 1165 with 10,500 HP.

Soloed as a 70 Unholy DK. Easier to kill than giants in previous quest. I followed the kiting technique given for the March of the Giants quest.

Caveat, just be very careful with the Icehollow Behemoths. One rezzed on me just as the giant was dead (lucky for me).

Also, the technique recommended above to be uphill from the giant is very useful as it will send you flying.

**Note** Some folks do not like it when people post they were able to solo a group quest, but I find those postings invaluable as otherwise I would not attempt soloing it on my own.

A good quest to pair with this is also The Cleansing. I passed right by megalith on my way up to this guy soloed him easily as 72 Blood Spec DK. Just got to remember Death Strike and rune tap when low on hp and you will do great. Another trick if you are having issues with this guy is to kite your way down hill using the following method: Chains of Ice >> Icy Touch >> Boiling Bloodx2 >> Death Coil (or you can use howling blast for those frost specced people) Rinse and repeat yea will take a while but hey u keep him at a distance and take no damage if done correctly.

Pretty easy to solo as a brand new 70 shadow priest in all Outland/Fjord quest reward gear. I potted once but it was probably unnecessary; I could have healed up and popped Shadowfiend instead to the same effect.

If you are having trouble soloing this guy, pair the quest up with . Grab your pet giant, mount up, and start attacking megalith. Your giant will fight Megalith for you, making the quest very simple to solo.

I had the Enthralled Stone Giant with me, but for some reason it didn't attack help me with this (or any other mobs I ended up fighting) when I was doing this quest on my hunter today. It did defend me when I first did this in my warrior.

But regardless, as 69 hunter in still mostly Nagrand-grade greens he was easy solo even with ferocity pet tanking.

Ok he is a 71+ elite Giant found at 67, 10

I am a 70 Feral Druid (with mostly greens) and this is how I finally did it.

First I tried to just to tank him in bear form and failed x 3.

Then I prowled and pounced, Mangle, Shred. Then go into bear form and pop all trinkets and bark skin. I had to Root him once and healed, then I went back into cat form and Mangled and Ripped and went back into bear form and popped Beserk and Mangle, Mangle. I then had to Cyclone him and try my best to fully heal and regrowth, went back into Cat form and finished him off. It was still very close but I still managed to finally down him.

*NOTE, careful of his knockback that he does as he can knock you off the mountain if you are not positioned properly.

Solo'ed as a feral druid level 72, mostly green leveling gear.
he has almost 28000 hp and hit for about 300, on me in bear form, was pretty easy to solo.
I started in cat form, used pounce, mangle, tigers fury, shred, rake and rip.
From there I just went into bear form and attacked him rotating maul, shred, faerie fire and lacerate and he went down pretty easily
didnt even have to heal myself to kill him.

Solo'd as a 70 Affliction Warlock, sent the Voidwalker, did the normal rotation of Haunt, CoA, Corruption, Unstable Affliction and Seed of Corruption. Used one Trinket, did almost 3 rotation. Also did use the trick above of fighting him uphill as he was on me with 2k health and I went flying. Thanks for the tips !

Solo'd as 70 Ret Pally. Used the technique of being uphill from him and it worked great. He's not near as bad as the "March of the Giants" mobs. Had already turned in the one that would have allowed me to use the pet giant but it still wasn't bad at all.

As everyone say, this is easy

Level 69 retri pala, all green... Did the quest The Rune of Command first then ran up to take on this giant. The stone giant you get as a pet really makes this fight like any normal lvl 70ish thanks to the shield bash it does to stun him. I had lost 500 health when he was dead, tho I healed myself with flash of light everytime I got instant cast.

I was suprised how much easier Megalith was compared to the one before it where you have to kill the elites. Megalith doesn't hit as hard & doesn't do any kind of AOE like the Runed Stone Giants do. If you have a pet or the ability to heal yourself (drain life or VE work just fine) then this is a cake quest. He is stunnable too. I did this quest the night BC was released with my priest & just did it with my 70 hunter (T5-6 geared). No problem what so ever. I was coming on here to see if there was a follow up quest I missed since there is no actual reward at the end & found nothing which is quite suprising since its a group quest from the very start. Thought I'd comment on it too.

Easily soloed as 73 elemental shaman. Dropped down fire elemental totem, earthbind totem, mana spring totem, and wrath of air totem. After that i went to work on killing him which was pretty quick.

Some information for DKs

Solo him as DK level 70. Frost spec. Most gear green and from quests.

Found him at 68.10.
Waited till he passed some mob and hit him at 67.10

Used Frost presence for this fight. Ghoul up and Bone shield from start. Horn ofc. Then just pure spank fight with my normal rotation of diseases and strikes.

He knocks you back now and then but no burst dmg. Use Death Coil at distance and just continue your rotation. I didnt even summon my Gargoyle.

Was at 70% hp when fight was over. Hard to belive this is a 3 man quest.
(Btw I wiped 3 times on the 2 man quest that was before this one :p )

Solo'd as a lvl 71 shadow priest. Very, very easily done. Used Enthralled Stone Giant from rune of command. Grabbed initial aggro with VE and waited for my pet to engage. Started my DOT casting cycle after about ten seconds or so. Then opened up with every thing I had. Got struck by Megalith maybe twice during the entire event. Shockingly easy to defeat him as a 71 priest.

FYI, full outland/TBC raiding epix. That probably helped a bit.

Wanders around perpendicular to the cave... Path outside the front... As said in every other post he's low health, kitable, ultimately he's solable.

I'd probably grab a pot just in case.

This guy doesn't hit nearly as hard as the mobs in the quest prior. The little minion you from from the other quest didn't help me at all. Just ran around and got in my way.

Used a simple method, wich probably everyone can use, to solo this q.

By the time you have this Q you will probably also have "The Rune of Command".
Complete that q (And i dont mean turn it in) and then go to Megalith with your giant guardian.
The giant will start hitting Megalith as soon as he hits you. Now you can just nuke Megalith.
Tho its a help if your giant keeps aggro, its not a must, cuz your giant hits hard, and thus Megalith dies fast.

He is very very easy. Soloed him as a lv 71 affliction lock, who had BIG trouble killing runed giants. (I simply couldnt do it, didnt bother to kite when i could just get carried by guildie :)

Very easy as a 74 Feral Druid. When I fought him he was level 70 roughly 27000hp. Typical Druid style really, stealth in cat form, ravage. Watch out he'll toss you into the air pretty much instantly, I didn't take any damage from that. Biggest hit from him dealt 768 damage, so if you need to drop cat form and heal up then get stuck in again. I use rejuvenation and life bloom in the middle of elite fights for safety anyway so came out of the fight at full health.

Solo'ed him today as a level 71 Subtlety Rogue. Was freakin easy. He does not hit so very hard ('bout 800-900) and can easily be stunlocked to death. Fighting uphill shouldn't be neccessary as a rogue/cat ;)

The quest chain that starts with The Book of Runes is required for the Howling Fjord questing achievement, I've Toured the Fjord. It completes the requirement "The Iron Dwarves." (Listed incorrectly on this website as completing with Demolishing Megalith)

Defeat Megalith and return to Sage Edan at Camp Winterhoof.

Description

Binder Murdis created Megalith to be a kind of keystone for the runed giants and to lead them in their mission. Defeating Megalith will leave them lost and without direction. I will ask Chieftain Ashtotem to divert some of our men as we move north and dedicate them to eliminating the last of the runed giants. Without their giants, the Iron Dwarves cannot stand against us.

Search the foothills of Frostblade Peak, north of Giants' Run for Megalith and defeat him!
