This does indeed act as a gap closer, and will take you to the target no matter how far they've gone during the animation. I found it both extremely fun for the gap closing and for the small cd burst it provides. And it looks cool, to boot.

I'm curious if it's supposed to replace Envenom/Eviscerate or be a situational addition. The 50% more damage is nice but 15 more energy and a CD makes me wonder.

Edit: The damage is worth it. 150% more damage for less than 150% energy cost. But that CD....

While in the air from using Death from Above you are immune to CC, which is quite neat if you for example want to avoid a polymorph or another crowd control spell that is being casted on you.

Currently, if you use this as combat, it only spends one of your combo points and this combo point can be refunded with Ruthlessness. I don't know if this is intended or not, or what is causing it. As subtlety it always spends all of my combo points (didn't test for assassination).

Edit: looks like this may have been fixed in yesterday's hotfixes

As combat, it seems to refund combo points. It's a little hard to tell exactly when, but it seems to be one for each target you hit. That, or the 2-step nature procs Ruthlessness twice. Either way, yay for more CP!

Since blizzard dont fix this talent's bugs no matter how many time you bug report on their official forums or via ingame bug report,i tought maybe if they see this comment somehow they might decide to fix it

This is the bug that has been reported by many other people;
This ability has 2 part,first part is aoe damage then jump in to the air which is fine no bugs at that part,2nd part of this ability where the bug happens,after jumping to the air u sky dive to your target and eviscerate or envenom that target depending to your spec,however %50 of the time u hear the sound effect of old rogue skill called "redirect" evis/envenom part does no damage gives back the combo point(thus "redirect" sound effect) u spent on and dfa goes into cd,meaning u spent 50 energy and 2 sec(animation time) just to get aoe damage part,this bug is been there since beta and made it to the live and still not been fixed

Refrain from using it on any kind of legacy raid boss or any other target that´s on a cliff, balcony, border, etc. The gap closing WILL get you in trouble and sometimes kill you... you know like... Ultraxion at the top of Wrymrest Accord tower.

Advice: If you can't see the red target circle in the floor near your character refrain from using this skill.

You owe it to yourself as a level 100 rogue to try out this talent at least once. Everybody should try out this talent, if only for how fun it is to use. I can only imagine the possibilities, with items like the Gnomish Gravity Well, or the Survivor's Bag. I may just attempt some testing later on...

Fun fact: If you use this while on your mounted combat mount in Nagrand, your character will jump off of the mount mid air, like some stunt acrobat.

Is it possible to run away and avoid this attack when the rogue leaps? Or it will hit no matter how far I run away? (e.g. if I blink after he jumps in the air?_

It's counterspell for DK's Death Grip if rogue already flying to the target.

I'd like to compile a list of enemies you should NOT be using this on. Typically when the second part of this skill plays out, it will immediately throw you at the centre of the enemy's 'target circle'. Some enemies are too large to display one accurately, or are otherwise precariously positioned where using Death from Above would otherwise end in your death. It should be noted that these typically apply to Shadowstepping as well.

Crimson Vial heals for 50% in PvP
Death from Above increases the effect of Envenom, Run Through and Eviscerate by 25% (down from 50%)
Nightstalker increases ability damage by 25% in PvP (down from 50%)

New favorite use: in The Eye of Eternity phase 2, use Death from Above to one-shot a floating Scion of Eternity, and while still in the air, immediately click its Hover Disk. Feet never touch the ground.

I hope this is the right place to ask.
If I use artifact power to buff the crit-chance of Eviscerate, will it buff Death from Above aswell?
It does say in the description that you Eviscerate the target, just want to double-check.

For optimal usage, it's good to understand precisely how this skill works, and how it interacts with other skills.

On key press, it'll cause AoE damage around your initial position and eject player character into air. This does not count as using finishing move, but does consume combo points and triggers cooldown.

While in air, you can't be CCed, but also can't use any (off-GCD) ability. Hang time is set at around 1 second, and once it ends you will land near your target, regardless of distance. Bigger distance does not prolong "air phase", you just leap very quickly.

On landing you'll use specified ability with your combo points, with 50% increased damage.

Because only landing triggers "finishing move" procs, it's good to remember it will happen after delay, and numerous things can happen over that second:
- Alacrity can lose stacks
- Death from Above will trigger it's cooldown, allowing landing finisher to trigger True Bearing, to allow for Death from Above to reduce it's own cooldown.
- Enemy you're targeting will die, resulting in finisher not occuring at all.
- Enemy will quickly teleport to danger zone, taking you with it.
