The Bonestripper Buzzards can be found just to the South East of Honour Hold.

These guy have a little trick you might want to watch out for. They can smell death. When you kill one of them, another will attack you, then another, then another. It seems they smell the dead corpse and fly towards it, as they approch you aggro them.

The goblin NPC right next to the one that gives this quest ,"Screaming" Screed Luckheed, also gives a quest to collect Zeppelin Debris (In Case of Emergency...http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10161). The area just South-East of Honor Hold where there is a large amount of the Bonestripper Buzzards also had a much larger concentration of the parts needed compared to most places that I saw running about. Fairly east to knock them both out at once.

The first 8 dropped immediately for me, unfortunately the last 4 took over 25 kills.

So I either got really lucky for the first 8, or unlucky for the last 4.

Either way, it's an easy quest and with how many it took me definetly worth it on rested XP, you average 950xp per kill.

The drop rate for the wings is very low. So you might wanna be patient. >_<

Also, when you fight them, its better if you pull them away from the other mobs so they don't "smell death" and attack you.

Drop rate is around 1 every 5. It is slow but I've seen worse.

Careful killing the buzzards. Killing one can attract another nearby one. If you are runnign low on health back away from the buzzards so none will come while you are trying to eat/bandage

I did not get any of these to drop off random buzzards in this area.
However, any time I killed one that was next to the bone piles on the ground, they always had a plump buzzard wing.
I don't know if nobody else has noticed it yet or not, but seems true enough for me.
Try it, kill some out in nowhere, then kill some by the bones coming out of the ground.
I'm 7/12 right now, heading straight for the bone piles to finish up

edit: confirm, at least for me, the birds at the bones drop them pretty regularly. And I just got wtfpwned by a fel reaver typing this. LOL

It isn't as bad as they have all made it sound... if you combo it with In Case of Emergency... the one where you collect the debris, you should end up with both finished around the exact same time.

Did it in less than 20 mins with a 61 human warrior. The drop late was low. But, not as low as i thought. maybe i was lucky.. nonetheless, they were easy to kill and gave good xp.

I tested the bone thing and found out that the drop rate is increased TREMENDOUSLY! It took me less than 5 minutes to do that quest. The wings drop off almost every single one of those buzzards. Definately worth doing. These are good for grinding too, low level, low HP and give good exp.

I was HAPPY when i found out how low the droprate is! these buzzards hav like a 40% chance to drop buzzard meat and like a <20% chance to drop the wings so ill hav lots of meat for this new recipe without having to kill those stupid buzzards

Just from my experience
I found the birds too the south of the gorge at 62, 67 had a better drop rate then the ones at the northern end. No idea why. Also some of the birds up the northern end would bug.

Wow, I was not getting a 25% drop. I cleared the whole valley more then twice. I had 66 Molted feathers, 37 Buzzard meat, and 21 Light feather. At least the go down easy. And 2 nice Greens dropped too. But I guess as always don't expect the drop rate to be exactly as stated for you.

Just as a warning, the wings DO NOT drop off Bonestripper Vultures near the Temple of Telhamat. I thought I'd just do it there seeing as I was in the area, and didn't notice the Vulture/Buzzard distinction.

The NPC for this and the Other cooking quests is named Legassi, and this is undoubtly a reference to Emeril Legassi the TV cook from Louisiana.

Confirmed - the birds around the bones have a much better drop rate than the others so stick to them. The Fel Reaver does roam around here to watch out. The birds have this annoying stun thing they do around 50%-25% so be forewarned. Also, when you kill one, the other birds will sense the corpse and come running. Usually not a big deal but just a heads up not to go into crowded areas.

I actually like having them alot of them group up on me makes it easier to collect the wings since i can knock out about 7 in a row.

Make sure you are killing Bonestripper Buzzards, there's two types of Bonestrippers in hellfire and the vultures do not provide the quest item.

The Bonestripper Buzzards have very low health and deal mediocre damage, the real threat of these is posed by their ability to smell corpses of the fallen.

"Bonestripper Buzzard smells a fresh corpse nearby." is the emote warning but half of the time the buzzard is agroed from far away and it doesn't show in the log, so if you really need to eat / drink run away a little bit to a safe spot or you might find yourself chased by a Buzzard.

For people without Cords and just rely on the ingame map, the Buzzards are located to the right of Honor Hold in a little cliff filled with bones. It's a subzone called "Valley of Bones" and is only shown as a little crater on the map.

Edit: The drop rate is all luck, some of my characters breeze through this quest and some suffer and take a long time.

For those that have already done the quest and deleted the recipee, the eaziest way i have found is to make a death knight.

When you leave the zone you will be level 58, eligible to recieve this quest.

And if you haven't created one, you should. The starting zone quests are awsome.

The drop rate for these are terrible. That being said, I collected nearly 2 entire stacks of Buzzard Meat, usable for the quest reward (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=33279), and easily leveled up my cooking quite a bit. As previously mentioned, also grab the Goblin Zepplin quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10161).

Pretty awful droprate. Just make sure to kill the buzzards behind Honor Hold and do the quest to pick up 30 parts of Zeppelin debris as well

Quest must be bugged atm because I've killed over 50 and not had one wing drop. I've tried killing near piles of bones, tried grinding, etc. Nothing.

I think this quest may be bugged - just accepted it from the quest giver but it didn't appear in my log. Can't abandon it (as it's not in the quest log), but the quest giver still appears to think I'm on it. Needless to say, the quest items aren't dropping.

Yus - The drop rate is greatly increased. Only took 5 minutes and I got lots of light feathers and buzzard meat as well as all the wings, quite quickly.

Drop rate is about 1 in 4 - Still very low especially considering you have to collect 12 of these plump wings!
Thank god my rogue can easily slice through the groups of these damn pests! lol.

"Painfully low drop rate" does not even begin to describe this quest. Ugh. It is especially painful because, since you're after wings and the birds have two, there is no reason that two wings couldn't drop at once from a single bird. But, no. Then I wouldn't have to kill 3 dozen of them.

Also, I thought I remembered being given this quest at the same time that I was given several others in the area. But in this case I was distinctly given this quest only after I completed the following, like they were prerequisites or something: In Case of Emergency..., Helboar, the Other White Meat, Voidwalkers Gone Wild, and Ravager Egg Roundup. Wholly inconvenient, as I could have killed several birds with one stone--haha--by collecting both the parts and other items in the area along with the wings, but instead had to return to the buzzards to collect the wings later).

This is my first time doing this as Alliance, so perhaps this is typical for this faction. Either way, very inconvenient!

1. Smooth as Butter
• Accept Smooth as Butter from Legassi at coords 49.2, 74.8.
• Travel northeast toward coords 65, 64, and kill Bonestripper Buzzard along the way.
• Loot 12 Plump Buzzard Wing from the corpse of the Bonestripper Buzzard.
• Travel back to coords 49.2, 74.8, and turn in the quest to Legassi.

I can't imagine doing this at launch. They give you a ridiculously huge area with a massive population of birds, and the entire thing is just enough to give one player the required number of wings. If they're lucky. I'm picturing entire servers standing around drawing lots for who gets to complete the quest each hour. It was still crap when I did it towards the end of TBC's lifespan, and only a few other people were around. That it's still still crap is frankly mind-boggling.

Description

Screed likes to say his flying is as "smooth as butter." I think "butterfingered" is more like it!

Take a look at the wreckage over there. He calls it a "rough" landing.

Sure, we got shot at, but I'd be willing to cut him a little more slack if he didn't brag about his piloting skills so often!

I think I'm going to make him a batch of wings to drive the point home. To the east, in the Valley of Bones, you'll find bonestripper buzzards. Their wings are plump, juicy, and perfect for my needs.
