Making the Armored Vaultbot Key is NOT(!) optional as you CANT open the vaultbot any other way in the future!

This quest awards only 75 rep so consider whether this is worth using 2 crates on for a vault key.

Also, if you realm-hop to find the rusty king to unlock this quest, BE SURE to leave the raid group (if you joined one). I made the mistake of staying in the group while trying to open the vaultbot. It'll use up your key and you will not get the holosphere required for the quest. I had to go back to present time after, craft another key, and use another time displacement charge to complete this quest.

All in all, probably not worth it for all the mats required.

Adding to Drudatz comment, make sure you have the key BEFORE traveling to Alternate Mechagon, otherwise you will have to right-click your buff to travel back to normal Mechagon to craft the key and waste another stack of the time-traveling displacer to get back to alternate mechagon to complete the quest.

All you have to do is, get the quest from the Chromie world (you can as well just do the other quest in there)
Then get to normal world, and follow the vault to its destination, and quest done.

You DO NOT need to get back there to use a key, the key is OPTIONAL, you even do not need to craft it.
From the quest log:
Craft an Armored Vaultbot key from Pascal-KING. (Optional)

Alternate Future Daily Quest Line - Personal Time Displacer
Start Adapt, Improve, Overcome!.
Then The Final Act follow up.
They you have to kill The Rusty Prince to get last Quest Be Kind, Rewind from Izira Gearsworn (You need craft Armored Vaultbot Key before entering alternate future).

I killed Rusty Prince in Alternate Mechagon only because he is a rare. (He frequently casts a self-heal so interrupts and grenades speed up the fight.) I did not know he would drop a quest. I had no clue how to do proceed before reading these comments. I found Izira Geasworn in Current Mechagon and then crafted Armored Vaultbot Key. Vaultbot was not up in the present but I did find him in Alternate Mechagon. I returned to Current Mechagon to turn in the quest. I did not hesitate to use my SPARE Crates because I've been reserving them for quests with the aim of gaining reputation.

You DO NOT need the key.
Kill the Rusty Prince in Alternate Mechagon.
Go back to the normal realm (to leave the alt realm click on the buff).
Find the Vaultbot 53,49 (same place as in the alt realm).
Kite it to the magnet 63,38 (the place in the Bondo's Yard with the circle on the ground, in front of the lightning magnet).
The magnet explodes the Vaultbot and you can loot it (dropped the key pattern for me).
Quest complete.

if you cannot get Vaultbot to spawn in normal or don't wish to wait you can ask guildmates or friends to help if they have the key.

Killing him in the present time by kiting him to Bondo's yard also completes the quest. It definitely is much harder to find him up in the present time, however.

So this quest, the universes, all the different info in the comments confused me a little. Here's the deal:

The Vaultbot cannot be kited in the Alternate Universe. But you can open him with the key. However to get the BP for the key, you have to kill the Vaultbot in the Main Universe by kiting him to Bondo's Yard. Killing the Vaultbot in the MU completes this daily, and you can turn in the daily in the MU as well. That's all you need to do for this quest if you don't have the key; camp in the main universe, then kite and kill him.

Now that you have access to the BP, the next time the vaultbot spawns in the AU, you can simply use the key on him.

Note that the Visual Holo Sphere needed for Be Kind, Rewind does not drop from the Armored Vaultbot if you've already looted it that day.

I thought that would be the case, but tried it anyway. Don't bother!

If someone else opens the vaultbot (EDIT: when they are using a key), you do not get the Visual Holo Sphere for the quest when looting the pile, since this is acquired at the opening of the bot. After I looted the gold pile, I used a key to open the next spawn of the bot, and I acquired the quest item automatically, no looting required.

I did a little testing because I was curious. Heard a call in general that Rusty Prince was up, so I time hopped and went to kill him. When I returned to Rustbolt to get the quest to fix up the injured mechagnome lady she had the Be Kind, Rewind quest. So you don't need to do the quests in order. If Prince is called up you can go and get him and not worry about having to kill him again after after you help repair the lady.

How to complete Be Kind, Rewind:

1. kill The Rusty Prince in Alternate Mechagon
2. speak with Izira Gearsworn and pick quest
3. go to /way 53,53, 50,11
4. click on Armored Vaultbot need Armored Vaultbot Key
5. loot Pile of Coins
6. back to normal mechagon and return quest

1. Go back to normal timeline
2. Wait until rare mob Armored Vaultbot spawns
3. Aggro and kite Armored Vaultbot (or wait until any faction kites it) to Bolten Springspark which will open the vault.
4. Loot the pile of gold to get the recipe
5. Return the recipe and craft the Armored Vaultbot Key
6. Go back in to the alternative timeline
7. Click on the Armored Vaultbot

1 To this on a day when Chromie isn't up - The Rusty Prince doesn't spawn those days.
2 Make a Armored Vaultbot Key
3 Go to "Alternate Mechagon" using a Personal Time Displacer
4 Do Izira Gearsworn's quests,
5 Kill The Rusty Prince
6 Take the quest Be Kind, Rewind from Izira Gearsworn (right beside you).
7 Use the Armored Vaultbot Key on the Armored Vaultbot (you do have the key, don't you?).

NB. I read that you can only loot the Armored Vaultbot once a day. Best not to hade done it the same day.

8 Loot the pile.
9 Go back to normal Mechagon and return quest.

Almost all the answers here are misleading/incomplete and really annoying since I wasted a vaulbot key for nothing.

First you have to get this quest (which almost all of these answers ignore).
1) So kill the The Rusty Prince. If you don't know how to find and kill him go check out his page. It's not trivial. You can't find him when the Chromie alternate timeline quest is up.
2) Talk to Izira to get this quest (immediately after killing Rusty Prince, in the timeline you killed him in).

Ok, now you have the quest and you have two ways to kill Vaultbot:
1) Look for him in the alternate timeline, there you need to use the Armored Vaultbot Key (you cannot kill him in alternate timeline by kiting).
2) Look for him in normal timeline and there you can kite or you can use the key.

(You can get to the alternate timeline by using Personal Time Displacer or by talking to Chromie if the quest is up. You'll need at least one of those to kill the Rusty Prince.)

Turn in the quest.

You can only kill the Rusty Prince in the "other place".

On days when Chromie offers the daily quest to go to the "other place",
you cannot kill the Rusty Prince, because he does not spawn on those days.
At least I have never seen him there on those days.

On days when Chromie offers the daily quest to go to the "other place",
you can go there and kill enough robots to eventually get the Pascal blue
prints to create time displacers.

Time displacers will take you to the "other place" regardless of Chromie.

On days when Chromie DOES NOT offer the daily quest to go to the "other place",
(she is not there) you should use the time dispacer to go to the "other place".
On those days, The Rusty Prince spawns as well as the Vaultbot.

The first time you kill the Rusty Prince, it unlocks a quest in the other place.
It is found back in town and is called "Be Kind, Rewind".

Be Kind, Rewind requires 2 things ...

0/1 Visual Holo Sphere obtained from Armored Vaultbot
0/1 Craft an Armored Vaultbot key from Pascal (optional)

The reason that the second part is optional is for more than one reason.

One way is for you to be in the "other place" and partied with another
player who has the Vaultbot key. When they open the Vaultbot, you will
loot the Holo Sphere and if it is your first time, you will get the
Pascal blue prints to make the Vaultbot key.

Another way is if you are in the normal timeline and the Vaultbot spawns
and people kite him to the magnet in Bondo's yard, you can loot him and
get the blue prints to make the key. You can also loot the Holo Spehere.

Notice that in the alternate timeline, the magnet is on fire, I don't think
you can kite the Vaultbot to that magnet. The only way to loot the Vaultbot
in that timeline is with the key, which is way easier than kiting him to
the magnet.

Now. If you were to loot the Vaultbot in the other place BEFORE you accept
the quest "Be Kind, Rewind" which would only be AFTER you killed the Rusty
Prince. Now, you are in a delimma because you cannot loot the Vaultbot
anymore that day. Not to worry, wait an hour or so longer and then go back
to the other place and use a key on the Vaultbot for the Holo Sphere then
come out of the alternate time line to turn in the quest. This time he will
not have a star over him on the minimap, but that's okay ... you know where
he spawns, near Boilburn's cave entrance to the east of the main gate to
Junkwatt Depot.

This is probably really stupid, but if you're like and tried to find some kind of portal to return to the present time, you just have to right click the buff you get after using the Displacer.

Hi all,
Anyone having the same issue as I have ?
First : I can't receive the quest from Izira after killing the Rusty Prince...
Second : when I go to Izira place trying to mount her wheel, I get disconnected from the server. Did this 3 times...
Anyone having the same issues ?

If you have any keys left when turning in the quest, it will use up one additional key from your inventory.

I just killed the Armored Vaultbot (normal timeline, no key) for the second time today, having gotten this quest in between, and while I didn't get a second Pile of Coins, I did get credit for obtaining the Visual Holo Sphere/Visual Holo Sphere. Which is nice.

The quest have to be returned back to Izira Gearsworn, but in the Normal Timeline - remember to leave alternate even though you can see the question mark there :)

Man, all these comments and not a single one mentioning what the quest name is referencing (closest was someone mentioning Blockbuster but that was it.) It's ironic given how so many comments are made claiming what something is referencing even when the subject isn't one at all, and here's a direct reference and not a single comment on it.

So, for all of you that only remember DVD rentals (or even younger, and all you remember is streaming) widespread video rental started out with VHS tapes. And they were just that, literal magnetic tape held on reels inside the plastic cassette, and just like its little brother the audio cassette, this tape had to be rewound to the beginning when you reached the end. This took a varying amount of time depending on the VCR. Some were very quick and could rewind a two-hour movie in just a minute or so. Others were dog-ass slow and could take 5-6 minutes to rewind an hour's worth. So many rental places started placing stickers on the cassette and plastic rental case that said "Please Be Kind, Rewind" to encourage you to rewind the tape before returning it so the next person wouldn't have to before they could watch it.

Some stores started making this mandatory and actually charged you a "rewind fee" if you returned movies that hadn't been rewound. When the rental market switched over to DVDs, some people were so used to rewinding being an intrinsic part of VHS that they continued to use "Please Be Kind, Rewind" stickers on the DVD cases. One that really made me facepalm was a circular sticker that had been designed to go around the spindle hole on a DVD, with the message on it. So some company purposefully made stickers for DVDs, asking the person to do something that they didn't need.

Description

You exist here due to a time anomaly, but you must return to your own time and help us there. The Visual Holo Sphere from the Vaultbot nearby contains the data necessary to defeat King Mechagon before he can use the Mechoriginator. Deliver the Visual Holo Sphere to me in your reality.
