Seems like this quest requires revered reputation with the Rustbolt Resistance. I was only able to accept this quest on my one character who is revered, and unable to accept it on any characters with honored or friendly rep, despite having the same Mechagon main quest progress on all chars I tried.

So this means that soloists can't unlock Mechognome PCs since this is required for "The Mechogonian Threat" which is, in turn, required to unlock Mechognomes.

For those who wonder. Since the quest can now be done in Heroic difficulty, you probably want to know in which "wing" in the King = the Workshop.

Operation: Mechagon - Junkyard - Gunker, Trixie & Naeno, King Gobbamak, HK-8

I just received the quest operation mechoriginator. I understand it was a mythic, now it isn't in the dungeon list at all. it is now 01/17/2020 and yes i do have the shadowlands preordered so doing that quest line as well. how do i managed to do this quest. It isn't listed in the dungeon list. 2 others are but not that one

Worst dungeon ever. The room with the bots who shock you was terrible. I could not get thru. The group finished without me, fortunately. It reminded me of the climax of Galaxy Quest: who was the bastard who created this? Plus, me group provided NO help. Typical.

So my friend has the Quest and we have gone and killed the King on a key and flat mythic 0 and the blueprint is not dropping for her. Has anyone else had this happen?

Unable to obtain credit for killing King Mechagon. I have tried on Mythic 0 up to Mythic 15 no dice. What am I missing?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but running mythic + does NOT count toward the quest completion.

Ok I created a wowhead account just for this. Hopefully it will make things more clear for Horde mains and for me.

1) You reached Exalted Status with the Rustbolt Resistance on your Horde Character.
2) You have a 120 level Alliance character.
3) Blizzard says that you need to complete The Mechagonian Threat quest line in order to unlock the race using your Max level Alliance character.
4) You need to be revered with your Alliance character to the Rustbolt Resistance in order to accept the final quest which is Operation: Mechagon - The Mechoriginator.

Am I correct?

Welp, I just ran a +4 Mythic Plus of workshop, killed King Mechagon but that didn't count for the quest fro some reason... :( lame.

I was able to complete this quest by doing Heroic Mechagon - Workshop on my Horde character. Also hit exalted with the Rustbolt Resistance on Horde so when I switched over to my Alliance character, voila the quest chain for unlocking Mechagnomes was available at the embassy in Stormwind.

FYI, this doesn't get checked off at Mythic+ instances of Workshop. You'll need to run a regular Mythic/Heroic Operation: Mechagon dungeon to mark the quest objective as complete.

I ran both heroic dungeons last night, and have not got the achievement listed on my character. Have I missed something? All other parts of the Mechagonian Threat are complete, just Operation: Mechagon - The Mechoriginator is still greyed out :(

Does anyone know if the Revered requirement will still be demanded come Shadowlands? I'm hoping the quest is opened without the reputation requirement but can't seem to find it anywhere

As of pre-patch for shadowlands, it would seem the revered requirement is gone. Just accepted it as honored!

So apparently the last boss on JY cannot be killed on heroic. Just found a bug where the pylons you need to activate to bring the boss down, don't do anything. No animation plays, no cast bar, nothin'. I was able to replicate this bug over three times. If anyone else has encountered this bug do let everyone know.

I just accepted this quest with Neutral rep (2625/3000). Can confirm rep requirement is removed, you now just need to finish the questline.

as of shadowlands prepatch, you no longer need to be revered to pick up this quest. prince erasmin is standing outside the entrance to the instance with the quest. pick up the quest; queue for workshop; profit.

As of the Shadowlands Pre-patch, this quest can now be obtained immediately- I was able to get it at Neutral rep. No longer requires revered.

Did they reinstate the reputation requirement? I'm friendly with Rustbolt, this is the last step listed in my "The Mechagonian Threat" achievement, and when I arrived in Mechagon I talked to the Prince, it said I didn't qualify for the quest, and he ran away and now has no quest bang.

If you're having issues seeing this quest, it may be due to phasing from the area around it. For example, if you still have The Current Schematic as a quest available, this will move Prince Erazmin away from the spot he should be in.

I was not aware you had to complete junkyard in order to do the workshop. Achievement COMPLETED!

I am trying to finish unlocking all of the allied races and all I have left is Mechagnomes. I just have one small problem. The option to travel to the workshop is not available on heroic as a solo player for me. It is available on mythic but is gated off and I can't start the dungeon. Are you required to complete a heroic junkyard before the heroic workshop travel option shows up? Some of these unlocks have been so convoluted my brain hurts. All of the allied races on the horde side seemed to be a cakewalk and even with the rep removal, I feel like the alliance got screwed so hard. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Now that Shadowlands is here, be careful not to overshoot 50 or start Shadowlands content before completing "Operation: Mechagon" if you want to unlock Mechagnomes.
I made that mistake then levelled up to 60, joined a covenant, etc... Still can't queue for any pre-ShadowLands dungeons! .... there's probably some extra achievement to get (anyone know exactly what that might be?) as the Blizz comments on the subject implied that all lower dungeons would unlock once you hit 60 and joined a covenant.
Oh - and sadly, my early-60 Mage seems too underpowered to solo the dungeon.

If you, like me, thought that you'd get and achievement from completing the dungeon now that you can solo it on Heroic with a lv60 character in Shadowlands, think again! You need to talk to Prince Erazmin first and get a QUEST. Yes, I didn't read the URL for this page to notice it was supposed to be a quest and thought it was an achiev. Now I completed the entire dungeon and got nothing because I didn't complete the quest itself. The only real challenge is Gunker with it's Goop. If you get caught, you gotta wait a few dozen seconds until you're able to die and try again. Don't touch the green things, run far away during the wave spell.

Shadowlands update:

I soloed this on normal and got credit for the quest. It was trivial to solo this as an ilvl 199 prot paladin. Bosses have around 200k HP and since they are lvl 50 almost all attacks miss so you take almost no damage.

If you're here after the release of patch 9.1.5 and are wondering why your achievement completion tooltip still says you need Operation Mechagon - The Mechoriginator to complete The Mechagonian Threat -- even though Blizzard's patch notes say that the dungeon requirement for Allied Races like this one have been removed -- it's because that's only partially true.

You don't HAVE to actually complete the dungeon, but you DO have to go to Mechagon and talk to Prince Erazmin and grab this dungeon quest. After you grab the quest, talk to the NPC again, and you should see an available skip dialog to complete the quest without doing the dungeon. You can then proceed with the questline to unlock the Mechagnome race.

So frustrated... after a lot of digging and searching, figured out I've only got the Operation: Mechagon - The Mechoriginator left to do. Looking for this NPC everywhere, Prince Erazmin because he is supposed to have the quest to do this dungeon. I've read there's a "work-around" and I'll cross that bridge when I get to it, but why isn't this NPC visible to me? What have I missed? If all the other achievements are completed but the final one in the dungeon... can anyone help? Thanks in advance. P.S. I'm standing in Mechagon Island at 71,38 and do no see Prince Erazmin.

In Dragonflight, I wanted this quest to unlock mechagnomes. I had all of the quests done for the Mechagonian Threat on my Horde main character,except for the last one in the dungeon, Operation Mechagon.

I went to Mechagon and got the Operation: Mechagon quest from the Prince. Tried entering the instance and somehow finding the workshop where there King is supposed to be but no joy. I tried suggestions here (using group finder,etc.) but could not find this dungeon listed on the dungeon finder.

So I right-clicked the Prince again, just to see if there were any options and there were. He offered the option of "trusting him" to finish the dungeon, which I picked, given it looked more promising than the others options. Immediately I got notice that I had killed the King, got credit for Operation: Mechagon, and the Mechagon Threat achievement. I did not see this information here, so I thought I would share it.

Now I will get on a 50+ Alliance character and head for the Stormwind Embassy to finish the quests to unlock mechagnomes.

Phasing Issues - Prince Erazmin @ 74.25, 37.07 (To the right of the Dungeon portal on the map)

I attempted to finish this questline today, as this quest has been the only quest that I needed for years (since the content was fresh). After flying around trying to find the quest I decided to look it up, realizing it came from Prince Erazmin. I /tar Prince Erazmin and found him at 73.03, 33.48 beside Waren Gearhart. However, He did not have any quests. My map showed the quest at the 74,37 location but nothing was there. After a while of flying around and trying to see if he would pop up in a different location, I stopped my toon about 60 yards away from this location to come here and search for my answer. Glancing back into the game I noticed the NPC was up in the distance. I flew to him and he instantly despawned/phased about 20 yards out. After trying every possible angle to fly into him before despawn I was about to give up...I filed a ticket with blizzard. Then I tried one more thing: I flew East over the surrounding waters at 360yrds away. Distance seems to reset the phasing for the mob. I turned on my addon for Auto Accept quests and Auto Complete. I flew into the mob and almost clicked the quest. Almost. So I flew back out and then flew in again...on the 3rd attempt I was able to click him before despawning. Quest accepted. But he was gone so I couldn't skip. Back out to the water again. I flew in and clicked him again and clicked the first option. It was not the right one. I flew back out to the water and back in...Clicked Option 2! Bingo! Option 2 skipped the quest! Now I needed to turn in. Back out to the water for a final time....Flew back in and clicked him for auto complete. Quest completed. All other angles, for me, were not successful. The water worked best.

I could not pickup this quest. As others has said, I could fly far away and come back to see him for a split second with the quest marker before he phased out.

However, I found somewhere that he may be out of phased if you have not completed the following quest line:

Allies of the Alliance: Mechagnome

And actually, at the end of that quest line the Mechagnome Allied race became available to me without having to get the quest from the prince.

Description

My father's madness won't be contained to this island. King Mechagon is creating a massive device capable of reversing the Curse of Flesh across the entirety of Azeroth! Any races forged by the Titans will return to their original state. For us gnomes, that means fully mechanical. For dwarves and troggs, stone. Vrykul, iron. The list goes on, but most races aren't even ON the list. Anything not forged by the titans will be completely obliterated. We must stop King Mechagon before it's too late!
