Don't Despair!
If you missed it, after you've killed the last boss, it will still be there. Just walk back where you fought Knight Captain Valyri and click on the glowing key hanging on a hook on the wall.

Can be confusing. After you kill the last boss, Taelia comes in and says something like 'Now that we have the prison under our control AND THE KEY...', which made me believe it was all done so i clicked on her to exit the dungeon.

I was in heroic, so when i re-entered the instance it actually spawned me in the Knight Commanders room and the key on the wall was highlighted but it wouldn't let me loot it before booting me out with a message saying i didn't belong in the instance.

Ended up re-running the dungeon in normal...

If you're like me and queued up for Heroic Tol Dagor to get this quest done, but you forgot to pick up the key before you left, you can walk through the entrance of the dungeon and still get it. Fly or run (if you don't have the flight path, go to /way 91 50 and run across the lake. You won't fatigue) to Tol Dagor island and zone into the dungeon. Make sure it's set to Heroic. You'll zone into Knight Captain Valyri's room and the key will be right in front of you.

p.s. Obviously this won't work after reset or if you ran the normal version of the dungeon. You'll just have to run it again and try not to forget the key this time =p

If you're like me and just now getting to the quest note that on Mythic 0, if you didn't get the key hanging on the wall and you left group:
1) go back
2) set the dungeon level to mythic
3) walk in, the keys hanging on the wall slightly to your left

If you are doing the 4th key quest and are a solo-casual player who doesn't like doing dungeons, this is one you can solo at normal on a BM hunter and other classes might be able to solo as well. It's not hard, but it is time consuming.

Bring a few healing pots, watch the videos of others soloing. I died four times, once on the Knight LT fire barrel boss and twice on the last boss before I got the hang of the positioning.The other death was me trying to use the cannons and doing it wrong.

My level was 370, I had a spirit beast. My gear is all from war-fronts and invasions. I killed all the adds except one group that I was able to camouflage past between the worgen boss and the fire barrel boss. I have the 300 level alch trinket and that helped with the healing pots. There is a spot before the last two bosses where you can mount and repair if you have the repair mount.

If you finish and haven't found the key, go back towards the dot on the map and find something to kill you. When you respawn the key is right in front of you hanging from a hook on the wall.

tried to go back in and get ported to beginning of dungeon and the boss is there. what am I doing wrong

Really love it when they are inconsistent on these quest items - most come from a boss kill, then once in a while you have to go find it in a room, usually making you run the dungeon again after failing. Because it's more "fun" that you have to know to loot a spot - in the same room as the boss you killed - vs just looting from the boss.

And yeah, no going back in if you used dungeon finder - it's fully reset when you leave the group. It's a do-over, although you can bail after the 3rd boss, because Bliz likes it when you don't finish dungeons when tanking I guess.

I freaking HATE this quest. I've had it, run it, wiped, still had it, run it, then somehow didn't have it. So Three times I've gotten the flippin key, to no use. I get the quest again, though I've never abandoned it, and run the GD thing only to find out somehow I don't have it. And after turning in a ticket on it, get the response that Blizzard it high and mighty and can't do anything about a lowly customer that cant figure out their system.

For what it's worth, note that the NPC (Flynn) giving the quest is NOT the Flynn you see in the harbor near the ship, he's far south.

Just to be clear. The key is in the room where the 3rd boss is. It's on the wall. Pick it up before you go kill the last boss.

Normal can be solo'd for the key by almost anyone, and even on heroic depending on class. 3rd boss room.

I can't seem to find Flynn. He's supposed to be in the office, but he isn't there... Is there another quest I have to do to fix what I assume is a phasing problem?

For returning players who want to unlock allied race,

If u hit above lvl 50, this dungeon is locked out from looking for dungeon tool.

I come back at lvl 44, spent 15 hours plus questing everything till loremaster achievement and now at lvl 52.

For the pride of KT achievement, I had to lvl my rog again in shadowlands to 60 before I could solo this run. Another 10 hours.

Still haven’t completed the pride of KT achievement, super sad!

I have just done it and have encountered some problems, so here is what worked for me.

First I wasn't able to take the quest because Flynn was not in the harbormaster's office.
It was because I haven't done the first questline of BFA ending with : The Old Knight

Then, I wasn't able to turn in the quest because of some phasing problem I think.
So I started the questline to make A Sound Plan and then Flynn moved and let me turn in the quest.

I think it's not the achievement that matters but the quests needed to fulfill it, so you must do it with the character who encounters the problem.
If you already have the achievement with a "Character boost" or on another character it will not be enough.

Wondering if someone can advise me on Tol Dagor - I need this dungeon to unlock Kul Tiran allied characters, but when my character (Panderan Hunter) was below L50, my item level was too low to run the dungeon. Now that I'm above L50 and my item level is finally at L60, the dungeon is no longer available via Dungeon Finder... and I died trying to swim to it.

It feels like I'm literally blocked from progressing and they are locking us out of older content and I just don't understand. Please be kind, I'm a fairly new player.

A level 60 Ven DH and not super high geared because I'm a casual player and don't group (don't do dungeons / raids, etc.). Get to the final boss and can't kill the two stupid priests because my DPS isn't high as a tank spec, so just keep going and going and they keep healing and healing.

So, a race that I'd love to play is locked behind something that I can't finish as a solo player at all. No way, no how. This is the most idiotic, moronic thing I've seen since I started playing back in December 2004.

I have run into a consistent issue being unable to talk to Flynn Fairwind after finishing the dungeon and nabbing the key, thus being unable to finish the quest. Has anyone else run into this? Is this a problem specific to boosted characters?

UPDATE: I figured it out! This quest is bugged in a rather... interesting way. I do not know internally how WoW flags things, but I'll do my best to explain what happened and how I think it happened

The Pride of Kul Tiras storyline starts when you have the "Loremaster of Kul Tiras" achievement- itself comprised of earning 3 other achievements ("A Sound Plan", "Drust Do It", "Stormsong And Dance"). This tells the game "aye, this character has accomplished all the pre-requisites, therefor quest". On most characters, this is the correct assumption! You earn the quests and get the achievements!

However, there's a bit of a snag. See, in assuming you have the achievement, the game assumes you've done the quests without checking, and thus assumes the NPCs are in a certain state. On a boosted character, you have the achievements, but the quests aren't flagged as clear. You can start the questline and run it up to this point, but Flynn Fairwind is still in a pre-"A Sound Plan!" state, therefor he can't be interacted with in the same way.

This is a whole lot of mumbo jumbo and several assumptions. I'm not sure if my speculation is correct, but I do know a proven and workable solution: Simply run the Tiragarde Sound questline- "A Sound Plan"- until you finish the quest titled "Proudmoore's Parley". This will set Flynn to the correct state and allow you to turn in the quest!

It's... a really dumb oversight, and I deeply resent having to playthrough the quest again on a character that I boosted, but it is what it is. The questline isn't too long, so get that knocked out and enjoy the rest of the "Pride of Kul Tiras" questline!

Confirmed today that you must complete the entire 77 quest A Sound Plan achievement with the same character completing Tol Dagor: The Fourth Key in order for Flynn to be visible in the Harbormaster's Office. Even though the prerequisite to unlock the The Pride of Kul Tiras questline can be completed on a different character, you will still need to complete A Sound Plan on your current character in order to turn in this quest.

For all those who canceled the dungeon quest and have problems accepting the quest again. Flynn Fairwind (the real NPC who assigns the quest) is not standing in Boralus at this point in the quest series. He is standing in the south, in Bridgeport at coordinate 75.35 48.86, right near the Griffin Master.

I leveled a mage for the only purpose to get alliance allied races and now im 60 with new gear and i cant solo Tol Dagor nor can I find people.... ^&*! is so sad and so frustrating please blizzard let me play your game.............. pleeaaaaase think!

As of Patch 9.1.5, you can talk to Flynn to skip this quest. Make sure to talk to him again (I dropped and re-took the quest first) and select the first dialogue option, where you basically tell him to take care of it. You still need to proceed with the questline, however, to unlock Kul Tirans.

When I got to level 52 and was doing this quest line, to find out it was another dungeon I'd probably had to solo, I got discouraged and just skipped BfA, abandoned this quest and went straight to Shadowlands. Now I finished the main storyline in Shadowlands/Chains of Domination and wanted to pick this up again, but I can't find Flynn at the initial quest giving point anymore, nor in the Harbormasters office. I can only find him at the docks for the Island Expeditions. I already had the achievement 'A Sound Plan', so that's not fixing my problem. Anyone know where and how I can pick this quest back up?

Confirming the comment by Vaelioux as accurate. As of Patch 9.1.5 you can drop and reaccept the quest to get the option to Skip the dungeon run and complete the quest. It worked for me just now.

not sure if I'm being stupid here, but have attempted this multiple times with multiple characters on all options, Normal, Mythic etc. and each time the key isn't glowing and am unable to pick it up, please tell me there is an issue with this and it's not just me?

This quest can be skipped if you talk to Flynn at Harbormaster's Office in Boralus.

OK, if youre still having issues with this quest. I was new to Alliance. Flynn gives you the quest to go to the Dungeon...you have to accept that quest. then you see that Flynn has the greyed out ? Question mark of an unfinished turn in quest point. you have to speak to Flynn again. He then gives you the Option to skip the quest or to continue along with the dungeon. you can now skip the dungeon and his Question mark turns yellow able to accept a turn in.

BTW this is Flynn right around the corner from the Bridgeport Flight Master, hes on a dock holding a chest

I played this until the 6th quest 3 years ago, and now the this (7th) quest is unavailable to me. Flynn only has Freehold: A Pirate's End and Azerite for the Alliance quests.
I can't get Kul Tiran race because of this. Contacted support - expected response 49 days lol

Description

Hey, wait a second. I know the type of key our fourth lock needs. This is the same sort of lock the Ashvane company uses. Resists lockpicks like nothing else, but they have a standard skeleton key. There was a set hanging on the wall in the Tol Dagor Armory. Given the state we left it in, it'd be easy to grab it. Taelia and I will take the chest back to the Harbormaster's office for safe keeping. You go in to Tol Dagor and get that last key!
