To find Myani you have to travel to Wailing Caverns entrance, Northern Barrens, coordinates are 40 68. There is a passage looks like a giant skull, fly through eye hole to find Myani, pick up the quest and tell you're ready to start the scenario. Scenario consisits of seven parts, there are 3 boss pet fights and 8 "common pet fights". Uncommon teams consist of one "main" pet, two others are random - chomper, smallclaw or flapper. All harm pets take 50% less damage (elite), bosses also take reduced damage. After you won any battle, you can rest and revive / swap battle pets. There's video of Pet Battle Dungeon:

Also, when you finish this quest, there'll be next one - Pet Battle Challenge: Wailing Caverns. As you are on that one you wount be able to heal pets even outside of battle. That's a challenge.

The Wailing Critters dungeon opens with patch 7.2
You will need 1 level 25 pet to start the initial quest, and 3 to do the following challenge mode (no healing, no reviving).
In order to beat the challenge, you will however need a few more pets.

Here is the list I was able to do it with on the PTR:

Emerald Proto-Whelp (1 is enough but having 2 is safer)
Cogblade Raptor
Cinder Pup
Ikky
Cerulean Moth
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling
Iron Starlette
Darkmoon Tonk
Darkmoon Zeppelin
Pandaren Water Spirit
Teroclaw Hatchling
2 Beast pets on level 25
5 more pets of any sort on level 25

It's 11 fights that you need to do and the Emerald Proto-Whelp (2 2 2) is the essential pet here. Thanks to its self-heal, it can clear the first stage and will then be in almost every other fight to clean the enemy backline pets.The other pets are interchangeable with what you have.

The fights are not very hard though and if you have a large collection of leveled pets, you won't have much trouble with this dungeon :-)

Dont even bother trying if you dont have a solid team. I've never done pet battles, like except a couple of random fights to catch more pets, and I went in there with 8 level 25 pets (4 of them being the falcosaurs), and I spent about an hour getting to the last boss. Finally here, and I can't do anything to beat him, and if I leave I gotta start all over again.

Imo it should not be a scenario, but a separate dungeon with a lockout. It's just stupid that I can't retry the last guy without clearing the entire dungeon all over again (and struggling with it too).

I was able to solo the Budding Spore boss with a Hydraling (1 2 1). Bring along another good aquatic type or two good beast types to help resist the dreadful breath attack. I brought along two Kun-Lai Runts and it worked fine.

Since this quest is the first one you can use Battle Pet Bandage as you want.

-For the "beast" the part of the dungeon, For most of the fights

Leveling pet (I took a pet around lvl 7)
Clockwork Gnome 2-1-1
Lil' Bling 2-1-1

For the Growing Ectoplasm part :

Use 2 dragons under 276 speed with Tail Sweep¸ and spam it until Growing Ectoplasm dies
1 mechanical pet lvl 25 to finish other pets

For the last stage: Budding Everliving Spore

I used one of the 4 crocodile crew They all have the same abilities!
Chuck, Snarly, Toothy, Muckbreath 1-2-2
1 magic and 1 mechanical pet for the 2 other pets!

Is this an account wide quest? or can I do this dungeon on multiple characters?
*update* looks like you can do it on multiple characters but need to be 110 to pick up the quest, my level 100 alt cannot pick it up but does display a white ! over the quest giver at Wailling Critters

once you beat the everliving spore (i almost soloed him and his companions with one jellyfish) and the quest is complete, it tells you to return to muyani at the wailing caverns. if you jump down to where she is, she will tell you that you have to battle your way to the boss and gives you the option to exit the dungeon if you talk to her. when you select this option, it says you will lose all progress in the scenario and are you sure. as long as the quest is complete, you are fine. take her offer to exit the dungeon.

Quickest way to the Wailing caverns for this is to go the the Dalaran Magical Menagerie store, talk to Manapoof right next to Breanni, you get ported directly to the caverns.

This was definitely a fun instance but I don't know if the reward is equal, one lvl 25 boost stone seems kind of meager for the time it took, but it is what it is, ... The last boss I did with a Fen Crab, Leopard Tree Frog, and Toothy... Toothy died from the AOE of the boss, but the frog is a boss in here. I also used the Ancient Nest Guardian a lot as it was my only lvl 25 mechanical. If you have a good assortment of mechanical and aquatic pets, this is challenging but easy. You do get to use the Revive Battle Pets in the instance now, but it is still on the 8 min cooldown so you have to have backup pets if you want to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. And yeah the end is very vague, IMHO, Muyani should just spawn on the top shelf by Verdan the Everliving's corpse, or even below where you jump to but with the gold "?" over here head to make it more clear... the threat of resetting all my progress after I just spent ~45 min in here was kind of a double check...

There are 3 pets that can be in the rewards: Cavern Moccasin, Young Venomfang and Everliving Spore. But I've been getting rewards without any pets in the last 2 times I did this. Any stats about the chance of getting the 3rd pet? I've got only 2 out of the 3.

Budding Everliving spore. Used emperor crab to kill all three. Surge, healing wave and whirlpool. May have been luck.

This Dungeon actually starts in Dalaran in the Magical Menagerie by Talking to Serr'ah. She will send you to speak to Muyjani in Northrend

both netherspace abyssal and graves can be replaced with anything here i think, kelp scuttler killed him (1-1-2) when my backline pets still had 50% remaining HP, so as long as your backline pets can defeat 2 common pets at half HP you are fine.

also Black temple fragments are OP.

The beginning adds were a breeze to do but the Everliving Spore gave me some trouble. I'm new to pet battles and have like 8 lvl 25 pets. My biggest issue was him doing damage to my whole team would end up killing the guys in the back before I could kill him.I was using Ban-Fu first and got him down pretty low, and then threw in Anubish Idol, and then he went down halfway through the 2nd pet due to being real low hp, and ended up finishing with Runeforged Servitor thanks for his repair ability. If I had more of a selection of pets I probably would of had a better team for it. But your guide helped me through nonetheless.

small frog just keep hitting 3 on last boss and he solos em.. lifelike mechanical frostboar is a good pet to have too and elusive skimmer can heal team

The first few were pretty easy until the Growing Ectoplasm - the second one of those was harder, but the last one, Budding Everliving Spore was really tough to battle.

Note: If you are an idiot, like I am, the shadowy figure you need to confront is asleep on some hay near a pile of rocks to the right. Took me way too long to figure out why I couldn't interact with the Budding Everliving Spore. *facepalm*

Also, for anyone who doesn't have the best battle pets, after several attempts I scraped by for the final boss battle using:

Strand Crawler (Rare, L25)
Iron Starlette (Rare, L20)
Robo-Chick (Uncommon, L25)

Both the Iron Starlette and Robo-Chick were almost dead by the time the Strand Crawler killed The Budding Everliving Spore. But between them they managed to get both Deviate Flapper's down, mostly thanks to Robo-Chick's Rebuild.

Manapoof is an NPC; the "Manapoof Link" rewarded from this quest means he will teleport you places.

In BFA (as of Aug 2020) you can access Manapoof in 2 locations:

Manapoof - in the pet store in Dalaran, near Krasus Landing
Manapoof - in Boralus (Alliance city)
Manapoof - in Dazar'Alor (Horde city)
(OK, technically that's three locations, but without fighting into the other faction's city you'll only have convenient access to two.)

You can unlock teleports to:

Manapoof Link: Gnomeregan after you complete Gnomeregan's New Guardians
Manapoof Link: Stratholme after you complete Tiny Terrors of Stratholme
Manapoof Link: Westfall after you complete The Deadmines Strike Back

My low level alts are teleported to Wailing Caverns quest giver but aren't given the "enter dungeon/scenario/pet battle" option - I click on her and nothing. What level should alts be to be able to do this weekly? My mains haven't done it in ages but they are all 50+ - I'd rather lower level did them.

Guide updated for patch 10.2.2. My guide relied a lot on Teroclaw Hatchling, but it was changed, so you cannot have Dodge and Nature's Ward at the same time, which made trash cleaning a breeze. Teroclaw Hatchling is still pretty decent for cleaning trash, my new strategy only included him as a backup. I have improved some strategies as well, so, read below.

TL;DR for pets you might want to bring and follow my strategy:

Waterfly (2,1,2)
Nordrassil Wisp (2,2,2) (S/S breed, but can possibly be used with any breed)
Unborn Val'kyr (1,2,1) or anything with Haunt
Ikky (2,1,1)
Darkmoon Zeppelin (1,1,2)
Landro's Lil' XT (1,2,2) or Personal World Destroyer (1,2,2)
Sunreaver Micro-Sentry (2,2,1)
Clockwork Gnome (1,1,1)
Darkmoon Tonk (1,1,2)
2x Scourged Whelpling (2,1,1)
Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,2,2) (if you don't have a second Scourged Whelpling)
Yellow-Bellied Bullfrog (1,1,1) or any other frog with a similar skill set
Dream Whelpling (1,2,2) or Emerald Proto-Whelp are very a solid choice for a 3rd pet for this dungeon
Teroclaw Hatchling (2,2,2) is a nice backup to have, but not needed any longer
Some additional mechanical-type pets, such as Cogblade Raptor and Iron Starlette
Some additional dragon-type pets. Not needed, but you can be unlucky with crits

This scenario have a lot of battles, some of them are easy but you cannot heal along the way, so be sure to have extra pets if you have bad luck with criticals.

The first 2 battles are easy. Bring a Waterfly (2,1,2). The other 2 pets should be disposable low level pets, because these trash will AoE and you don't really need another pet. The strategy is to use Dodge on cooldown, then use Alpha Strike to kill enemy pets. Use Healing Stream to heal up incoming damage whenever available. Do take advantage of your pet speed. If an enemy is with low HP, kill it instead of healing. You can always heal in the following round. Having Dream Whelpling as a backup pet is advisable after the second fight.

For the 3rd battle, bring Nordrassil Wisp. Use Flash, followed up by Light and Arcane Explosion when everything else is on CD. Enemy will be blinded often, so you can most likely kill them all this way. If not, your 2nd and 3rd pets can easily finish it. As always, I recommend having Dream Whelpling in the back row.

Next is Son of Skum. I have found that a working strategy is to use Haunt from Unborn Val'kyr (or any other available pet) followed by Ikky with Black Claw and Flock. This will make the boss melt. Ikky can pretty much kill everything else, but if not, bring your backup pets to finish the job.

Next you'll face Phyxia, bring a Darkmoon Zeppelin (1,1,2). Use Bombing Run and Decoy on cooldown. Spam Missile afterwards. You should be able to clear the entire fight with Darkmoon Zeppelin, but if there is any left, use any other secondary pet.

Next is Dreadcoil. I used Landro's Lil' XT (1,2,2), but Personal World Destroyer (1,2,2) is also an option. Bring another mechanical pet just in case, your first pet should clear almost everything. Use Heartbroken (or Supercharge), Zap (or Metal Fist) and then Tympanic Tantrum (or Quake). Afterwards spam Zap (or Metal Fist) until your first pet dies. Use the secondary mechanic to finish things off if the first one ever dies.

For Vilefang bring Sunreaver Micro-Sentry (2,2,1) and Clockwork Gnome (1,1,1). Start with Fel Immolate, Call Lightning then bring Clockwork Gnome, which will use Build Turret and then Repair. Vilefang should die, just spam Metal Fist until clockwork die and them finish off with your third pet.

Next is Hiss. Bring Darkmoon Tonk (1,1,2) and two other pets, can be a mechanical for backup. Start with Shock and Awe and spam Missile until either the tonk is about to die in the next attack or if the boss gets to 500 HP, then cast Ion Cannon. Finish off the smaller pets with your other pets, if needed.

Now you'll face 2x Growing Ectoplasm. For the first, bring Scourged Whelpling (2,1,1) and another dragon-type pet for backup. Spam Tail Sweep until the Ectoplasm is dead. After the Whelping dies, bring your backup dragon pet to finish off the other two trash pets. The 3rd dragon pet won't be used if the Whelping solos the Ectoplasm.

For the second Ectoplasm, the strategy is the same, but if you don't have another Scourged Whelpling, you can use Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1,2,2). Use Decoy and them spam Breath. Can't emphasis this enough, but having Teroclaw Hatchling in your back row is a guaranteed safe strategy for these fights as well.

Finally, the last boss, Budding Everliving Spore. I did kill him with different strategies, but the one I found most reliable is to bring a Yellow-Bellied Bullfrog (1,1,1) (or any similar frog with the same skill set) and other two beast pets as backup. I say beasts because the boss will spam Dreadful Breath (which is weak against beasts). In case you need to use the other pets, their HP will be still good enough. You cannot spam Frog Kiss anymore, but that's fine. Just use it and use Water Jet and Healing Wave in between cooldowns, healing whenever needed. If you're lucky enough with Frog Kiss, your frog will solo the entire combat. But, in case it don't, use your backup pets to finish it off.

You have to turn in your quest to Muyani, but outside the dungeon. For some reason, you cannot turn-in while instanced. She's just outside.

Final considerations: After this became a repeateable quest, you receive a Damp Pet Supplies, which, in my opinion, is not worth of a reward. I do not recommend repeating this quest, unless you are still missing a pet dro.

And people complain about the love rocket. You can do this quest once a week, no matter how many alts you have. I've done this for so long and I still do not have the pet from the bag.

Tiny wails have been heard in the caverns for some time since Naralex was awakened. At first, we suspected that some deviate critters had survived. Upon further investigation, we found them to be growing and multiplying beyond our wildest expectations. The corpse of Verdan the Everliving may have something to do with it, we're not sure. That's why we're sending you in.

I've also seen suspicious footprints leading into the caverns recently. We may not be alone, be careful.
