You will need:

Remnant of Fire from Ragnaros in Firelands
Remnant of Air from Al'kir in Throne of the Four Winds
Remnant of Water from Neptulon in Throne of the Tides

and revered with Therazane.

The quest (hotfixed and can be obtained now) is given by Therazane herself, in Deepholm.

Upon completion, you will then learn Tome of Illusions: Elemental Lords, which makes Tome of Illusions: Elemental Lords.

Just confirmed this quest was added to latest Beta Build, it's from Therazane herself after getting revered.

This quest and thus the associated recipe Formula: Tome of Illusions: Elemental Lords and tome Tome of Illusions: Elemental Lords is not available even with exalted Therazane rep as of the Legion pre-patch (7.0.3) and will likely only be available on August 30th when Legion launches, for whatever reason.

Hotfixed, you can now pick it up, make sure you track for hidden quests as it's a level 80 quest. :)

Currently (7.0.3 Legion prepatch, not 6.2.3) this quest is not available. Probably just a glitch but I'm exalted with Therazane and she doesn't have any quests available.

This quest is NOT available from the looks of it on 7.0.3. I am revered with Therazane and she has not quests to give. No NPC's around her give it either. So it appears Blizzard forgot to put it in or are waiting for Legion for it for some reason, even though all the enchants effects are already in the game.

Pre-patch just hit today, and I just hit honored with Therazane upon learning of the rep requirement. I have been given this quest by Stonemother on live. Unfortunately, I already did Thone of the Four Winds for the week, so I cannot complete the quest until next week, however I DO have the quest.

I can confirm as of 11:14 PM Eastern this quest is available, it is a low level quest so make sure you talk to her.

This quest is obtained from Therazane in Deepholm.

You need to obtain the following:
Remnant of Water - Throne of the Tides (Neptulon's Cache)
Remnant of Fire - Firelands (Ragnaros)
Remnant of Air - Throne of the Four Winds (Al'Akir)

The TomTom coordinates to the raids and dungeon:

/way Abyssal Depth 70.9, 29.4 Remnant of Water
/way Mount Hyjal 47.5 79.6 Remnant of Fire
/way Uldum 38.4 80.6 Throne of the Four Winds Remnant of Air

These can all be completed on 10 man Normal.

I was able to get the quest with Hated reputation , but one of the requirements to complete the quest is to be revered as mentioned already.

I am Exalted with Therazane and have Enchanting skill of 710, yet was unable to pick this quest up. She was located at a previous spot (Therazane) and offering The Stone March and Therazane's Mercy. Picked these up and finished the quest line leading to her being located at her throne (ending with The Stone Throne), and here I go, she is offering this quest now.

For those wondering: You actually need enchanting to pick this quest up as it learns you how to make the tome, instead of giving you the tome.

My mage is exalted with the faction but for some reason I can't see the Stone Mother at the throne...however when my mage goes to the temple there is still a battle going on in there with twilight guys....but my achievement listed I have done 110 quests down in deepholm and right now I have been all over Deepholm and can't find any quests even though I have clicked to show low level quests...anyone got any ideas how to fix this

The quest can be picked up from Therazane even if you are hated. However you must be atleast revered with her to turn it in. Just done it in the live Legion pre-patch.

You need, if you haven't done any Deepholm quests like me, to get around 63k reputation to be able to Turn In the quest. Guess what: you can farm it fast by using the Cataclism Timewalking Commendation of Therazane accross all toons in your account. Each commendation gives 500 raw reputation, without the bonuses. I mostly do only the first dungeon on most toons, to get the 500 token off the quest, and do the garrison 5 dungeon quest on toons that need gear.

PS: Dunno but blizz may have trollfixed the Draenor +20% reputation gains for reputation other than those from Draenor itself. Before the pre-patch, I could get 600 rep while using these commendations within my garrison with a lvl 3 Trading Post.
Anyway, this is another great advantage from the Timewalks, you can farm old reputation faster, and the commendations are BoA, for those that are like me and like to farm every profession recipe that they can get their hands on.

The quest item from Neptulon's Cache doesn't drop from the Timewalking Dungeon version of Throne of the Tides.

For Enchanters that have moderate experience in Deepholm and are Hated with Therazane a good place to start questing to work on your Therazane Reputation seems to be with the {LOW LEVEL, set your minimap accordingly} quest

Work on the UPPER World Pillar Fragment...

You will need TWO found objects:
The first is Forgemaster's Log which can be obtained either from Question the Slaves -OR- directly from
Maruut Stonebinder whom you can find in the Temple of Earth.

Try Maruut FIRST, as he will reportedly give the
item/quest to you if you have already obained it in the past and abandoned the quest.

For the second Found Item, go to Upper Silvermarsh 72, 62 and kill Murkstone Troggs and Mercurial Oozes
until Maziel's Research drops and that will autostart the quest Twilight Research.

Having completed a couple of follow-on quests will then lead to Silvermarsh Rendezvous.
You may need to fly back to the Temple of Earth and get the quest from Maruut.

NOTE: FWIW, obtaining the quest Silvermarsh Rendezvous caused me a great deal of consternation.
It was showing me a "true" for the previous quest being flagged completed. "False" for this quest, but I was still unable to START it. I checked with Maruut and portaled out to Stormwind & back, did some NPC killing and flying around, etcetera inside Deepholm. Eventually I was backtracking, and found the object Forgemaster's Log available back in the TOWER from the previous quest. Picked up the object and turned it in to Maruut, and he then gave me the Silvermarsh Rendezvous quest. So, if you have similar issue(s), try checking for it at
/way 63.8, 55.5 Log Book

Complete the Upper World Pillar Fragment Quest Tree down to The Very Earth Beneath Our Feet.

NOTE: initially i completed the BOTTOM World Pillar Fragment Quest Tree
as far as Imposing Confrontation which you obtain from Earthmender Norsala at

/way 46.0, 45.6 Earthmender Norsala

WARNING: after completing Imposing Confrontation, I went to Therazane's Throne for a status check.
Interestingly, Therazane wearing a large yellow "!" offered me Controlling the Elements which had previously been in my quest log, but no longer WAS. Obviously I chose to accept it (again). Perhaps this is where the Patch 7.3 ability to accept this quest gets "reintegrated" into the Cataclysm Quest Chains.

Reputation with Therazane was still at Hated (0 of 36,000) at this time. Also present at the throne were a World Pillar Fragment and Ma'haat the Indomitable, neither of which I recall seeing on my previous visit. I spoke to Ma'haat (still flagged red/enemy) and while he did not attack, neither did he offer any quests.

Back to Earthmender Norsala to pick up next quest, or try elsewhere?

A bit of scouting determined that the next quest Rocky Relations in the chain gives Therazane Reputation and appears to be the first that does.

I completed the quest chain through The Stone Throne and then completed all of the newly available DAILIES. This brought my human character to 11,877/12,000 YMMV.

Remember {unlike ME, duh!} to obtain the Tabard of Therazane from D'lom the Collector as soon as you see the dailies have become available.

I suspect that reputation gains while obtaining the three remnants for Controlling the Elements will push me into REVERED.

Ey guys, so I just collected the three elements remnants (fire, air, water) required for this quest, but the "honored/revered Therazane" requirement have not been checked off and yet my reputation with them (based on the Reputation "level") is almost halfway through to exalted...

Does anyone know what's happening here? HELP! ;(

~~This quest is bugged as of 7.3.5, with the Remnant of Water item not dropping anymore, likely due to some kind of scaling issue :(~~ Looks like it was fixed recently! It drops again.

Remnant of Water is bugged again! Didn't receive it from throne of tides normal or heroic. I opened a ticket and a GM sent it to me in in-game mail.

So if you completed this quest, then for some reason discarded Enchanting and then trying to lvl Enchanting again - you can't complete the quest again, you have to buy the book "Forgotten Formulas of the broken Isles" from Enchanting trainer in the new Dalaran

Tip for those who can't find her to complete the quest:

I found her at 63 25, offering me some low level quests. After doing those quests and finishing the Deepholm storyline, I finally could find her at her throne and complete this quest.

As of 10.2 during season 3, this is currently not fully obtainable. You can collect everything you need except the Remnant of Water from Throne of the Tides. Since the revamp of the dungeon, the end boss loot is bugged out and gives no loot. I tried doing this on Normal and Heroic as a walk in, also completing the dungeon via Cata Chromie time with some friends of mine. After getting nothing from these, tried it again as a M+ in hopes it would be in the chest at the end, but there was nothing. I submitted a ticket to Blizz, so hopefully this will be fixed in the upcoming hotfixes in the near future.

Edit: This has been fixed! I want to thank Akacious and Blobble for commenting below that you were able to loot the last boss in TotT!
