~~Contrary to what's written above~~, the quest can only be completed on Mythic (but not Mythic+) Difficulty as of Build 22053.

The Heart must be looted from an object near the Wrath of Azshara to the northwest.

After this quest, the questline branches: He'll send you to Mythic Darkheart Thicket for Darkheart Thicket: Fallen Power, and to the Court of Farondis for A Vainglorious Past. Kalec will also send you on Tempering Darkness. After all three are done, you will move on to Lucid Strength.

Don't try looting it when going for the second boss or something you will just die from the "ritual protection" , once you are at the last boss you will take it.

probably a stretch, but can anyone confirm if kill credit for wrath of azshara is able to earned on heroic or normal? just in the case that perhaps blizzard might have slipped up, or if the item you need to get is only just from mythic.

Picked up the quest randomly in my Class Hall. Had already cleared EoA this week. Walked in and picked up Heart of Zin-Azshari, but do not have credit for the boss kill. Have to wait until next week.

Got this quest after I cleared Eye of Azshara with my guildmates earlier in the week. Then I went with another friend who didn't have the CD and I could loot the heart and get credit for the kill, even if I couldn't loot the bosses.

You will get this quest on a Tuesday night an hour after finishing Mythic Eye of Azshara.

i done this mythic before i got the quest, when in loot the heart near last boss and got the kill i need in the same week as i already was saved to it, so it looks like if you get the quest after you done it, you can go back with a group and still get the item and kill ever if you are already saved to it.

I friend had a problem to get this quest and after alot of waiting we tried a random tip that seemed to work for 2 people earlier. Sign for a Arena Skirmish.

He did that, didnt enter it when it pop and Questgive instaspawned. Might be a good thing to try!

The heart is very easy to find, as it is marked with a yellow dot on your map. It's right next to the last boss.

Followup quests are A Vainglorious Past and Fallen Power, given by Senegos. Also, Tempering Darkness from Archmage Kalec.

Unlike what some have said you do NOT have to complete Mythic Eye (or any Mythic dungeon) to get this quest. It should be available in your class hall after hitting item level 830. I got the quest without even entering a single Mythic dungeon yet.

Just got this quest after getting previous quest in my class hall.

Only ilvl 813, have not done any mythics or even heroics.

So have no idea what triggers the quest chain.

You get this after rank 17 of your weapon. Not tied to anything else.

I got this quest at around ilvl 821 I think, the Q was there when I returned back to my class hall, an hour or so before I had enabled my first big rank on my artifact tree, maybe that's what triggered it?

I was trying to figure out how to get this quest, since I wanted to do the mythics with some friends.

I couldn't figure out how to get it to spawn. Finished my Warrior class hall on Tuesday 14/09/16.

This finally spawned today (16/09/16). Tried figuring out what the difference is between friends, since we've all been doing the same things....but different classes.

It comes down to:
a) This spawns 2-3 days after you finish your campaign quest
or
b) This will spawn when you get enough AP to unlock the next rank of your artifact weapon

I think it's b) to be honest. I added a rank in a non-major ability in my Artifact weapon and when I went back to my class hall, a pointer to this quest was now available (Orange Exclamation Mark). The quest is also marked as an Artifact quest, so it makes sense. The rank did happen to complete the non-major ability, but I don't think this is a requirement.

It was very confusing, but since the warrior campaign was longer than the others, and hence, I've had more time to level my artifact weapon, it took longer to unlock the quest since I needed more AP to tick over my next trait.

At the time, I was 844 ilvl, 18 traits in my weapon, Artifact Knowledge Level 3, and the quest had not popped. So it's not "level" based.

You may be worried that you got this quest after you already completed the Mythic difficulty and are now locked out, no need to fear as you can run Mythic modes of dungeons as many times as you want, you won't get loot, but in terms of this quest you can still get the items and the boss kill even while in lockout! Run some guildies or some buddies through the Mythic who haven't gotten a chance to yet!

Apparently this cannot be completed on Mythic+. Just did it on lvl 2 and got nothing completed on the quest :(

This quest must be completed on mythic difficulty without using a keystone.

If you use a keystone, the heart does not appear and you do not get quest credit for killing the Wrath of Azshara.

If you run through the dungeon and miss the item, you don't even need to come back with a group to get it. I went back to get it later the same day without a group, and since I was on lockout the dungeon was completely empty. The item, however, was sitting on the ground waiting for me. =)

Note that you do not need to complete The Power Within to start this quest, I started this quest first after completing the Azure dragonflight questline, only to go back to the Orderhall and see The Power Within, which appears to just be a feeder quest to this one.

Remember, you must use a formed or Preformed group for this instance, NOT a Dungeon Group via Group Finder. If you use Group Finder, there'll be no heart. (Learned this after five (5) bloody runs :-(

Introduction
This quest is part of a comment-size guide for "Balance of Power." questline. Quests are pretty much self-explanatory and all it takes is some time and good will to complete them. Completing this questline rewards Artifact Appearance (Appearance 3, Tint 1).

Part 1
Image of Kalec appears in your Order Hall and gives you the following quest:
The Power Within (Meet Archmage Kalec at Azurewing Repose in Azsuna.)
Reasons behind appearance of Archmage Kalec in your Class Order Hall are not yet completely understood but most people noticed him few days after they completed their Class Campaign.

Part 2
From there you take a next quest from Senegos:
The Heart of Zin-Azshari (Retrieve the Heart of Zin-Azshari and defeat the Wrath of Azshara in the Eye of Azshara on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 3
After completing the previous quests you receive a few new quests (exactly 3: two from Senegos and one from Archmage Kalec).
Senegos:
A Vainglorious Past (Obtain a Vainglorious Draught from Veridis Fallon.)
- You can purchase Vainglorious Draught from Veridis Fallon in Crumbled Palace in Azsuna for 150g (Requirement: Court of Farondis - Honored).

Fallen Power (Recover a Corrupted Essence from Oakheart and defeat the Shade of Xavius in Darkheart Thicket on Mythic difficulty.)

Archmage Kalec:
Tempering Darkness (Obtain 30 Blood of Sargeras.)
Should not be a problem since by the time you get that quest and if you did not spend any Blood of Sargeras you should have some stacked up simply by completing Dungeons and World Quests.

Part 4
Archmage Kalec:
Lucid Strength (Absorb the power from the Corrupted Essence using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)
Right next to you.

Part 5
Senegos:
The Wisdom of Patience (Await the opening of The Emerald Nightmare, then report back to Senegos in Azsuna.)

Part 6
Archmage Kalec:
In Nightmares (Obtain a Deathglare Iris and the Horn of the Nightmare Lord from The Emerald Nightmare.) NOTE: NOT doable with LFR. It has to be Normal difficulty or higher. In order to complete this quest you need to kill 2 bosses: Il'gynoth and Xavius and loot mentioned quest items.

Senegos:
Essence of Power (Collect 30 Corrupted Essence from The Emerald Nightmare.) This quest gave me a weird WoD and Khadgar flashback. NOT doable with LFR. Only Normal or higher difficulty. Essences ~~do not~~ have a 100% drop rate and bosses can drop 1-2 3 Corrupted Essences at the time.

Part 7
Senegos:
Essential Consumption (Absorb the combined power of the Corrupted Essences using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)
Right next to you.

Part 8
Archmage Kalec:
Repaid Debt (Meet Archmage Kalec in the Shal'Aran in Suramar.)

Part 9
Thalrenus Rivertree:
Lost Knowledge (Obtain the Scroll of Elun'dris from First Arcanist Thalyssra.)
- Costs 120g. Requirement: The Nightfallen - Revered).

Part 10
Thalrenus Rivertree:
Borrowing Without Asking (Recover a Containment Crystal from the Vault of the Wardens on Mythic difficulty.)

Syrana Starweaver:
Rite of the Captain (Take Advisor Vandros' Eon Winder from The Arcway on Mythic difficulty.)

Lothrius Mooncaller:
Literary Perfection (Find Lothrius' first edition copy of "Wards, Sigils, and the Nightborne Way" in the Court of Stars on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 11
Syrana Starweaver:
Twisted Power (Use a Greater Portal Stone to summon Vizuul the Twisted at the Altar of End Times in Faronaar and collect his runebindings.)

Part 12
Syrana Starweaver:
A True Test (Absorb the power from the Twisted Runebindings using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)
Right next to you.

Part 13
Archmage Kalec:
Seeking the Valkyra (Seek out Ashildir at the Vault of Eyir in Stormheim.)

Part 14
Ashildir:
The Mark (Prove your worth to the Valarjar, then receive the Mark of the Valkyra from Eyir.)

Part 15
Ashildir:
Retrieving the Svalnguard (Retrieve the Svalnguard and defeat Helya in the Maw of Souls on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 16
Ashildir:
A Feast Fit for Odyn (Acquire flank meat from Thunderhoof in Stormheim, Spinesever's spine in Highmountain, and a steak from Leytusk in Azsuna.)

Presentation is Key (Retrieve 4 Adamantium Casing Scraps and defeat Dargrul the Underking in Neltharion's Lair on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 17
Ashildir:
Odyn's Blessing (Obtain Odyn's blessing in the Halls of Valor on ~~Heroic or~~ Mythic difficulty.)
- Use Grand Feast of Valhallas when you enter the dungeon - at the start. You can enter the dungeon alone, put the feast down, get out and then get a group to defeat Odyn and get his blessing. After you defeat him wait for him to finish his speech (RP) and then you can collect his blessing on the loot chest.

Part 18
Archmage Kalec:
Planning the Assault (Await the opening of the Nighthold, then meet Archmage Kalec in Shal'Aran.)

Part 19
Archmage Kalec:
Into the Nighthold (Collect 20 Nightshards from the Nighthold on Normal difficulty or higher.)
- Try and complete this quest without killing Gul'dan because if you kill him before acquiring The Nighthold: Darkness Calls quest in Part 20 he won't drop quest item for you this week and you'll need to wait for a next reset to complete The Nighthold: Darkness Calls quest in Part 20.

Thalrenus Rivertree:
The Nighthold: Delusions of Grandeur (Collect the core of Trilliax and Grand Magistrix Elisande's Millennia Tome in the Nighthold on Normal difficulty or higher.)

Part 20
Archmage Kalec:
The Nighthold: Darkness Calls (Bring one Gul'dan's eyes to Archmage Kalec on Normal difficulty or higher.)

Part 21
Archmage Kalec:
Balance of Power (Absorb the combined power of the Nightshards and the Eye of Gul'dan using the Heart of Zin-Azshari at the Lunar Crucible.)

The 'balance of power' quest line needs Mythic dungeons which are now next to impossible to get as nobody does the old content these days. Nothing in the dungeon finder at all these days.

If you screwed yourself over by completing mythic Eye of Azshara while questing before you got this quest, here's how you fix it:

1. Log on another character in your level range (max lvl needs max lvl) > create a group in LFM > log off
2. Log on to your designated character, search for the group, apply to join
3. Log on to the leader character, invite your other character
4. Log on to your designated character and accept the invite.

You may need to enter the instance with your other, unsaved character before, I didn't check. But using this you can enter a freshly new instance and complete the quest, since it doesn't involve loot you're already saved for.

If you are here to complete The Balance of Power and you haven't yet completed the quest already there is a simpler way to complete this than using an Alt Character. The easy solution is to set your Instance Difficulty to Mythic and then enter the Dungeon Instance by walking through the wall portal where the instance summoning stone is located.

How to set your Instance Difficulty:

Right-click on your character portrait.
Under Instance Difficulty -> Dungeon Difficulty
Set to Mythic.
Enter Dungeon Instance

If you don't have the quest, or you dismissed the quest then you have to pick it up at Senegos (blue dragon).

Description

The naga in the Eye of Azshara summon terrible storms that ravage the coastline of Azsuna - storms far beyond the abilities of even their best sirens.

It can only be the Heart of Zin-Azshari.

Prior to the Sundering, Azshara's chosen used the Heart to greatly magnify their power - it is said to have been key in their dominance of the Well of Eternity.

If you can journey to their domain and retrieve it, <name>, we will put its power to far better use than those foul creatures.
