Hey guys,
This quest has to be done on Mythic and make sure u drop the feast at the START of the dungeon before you proceed.
I tried this on mythic ( i thought i had to present it @ Odyn but this was a joke making it so i can't finish it) after that i tried it on HC but the Altar of Champions is not there.

Had myself and one other on the quest, once the other guy put his feast in at the start we had to run out and reset so I could put my feast in as well and we both got credit for the quest at the end.

Edit: This is also the last quest currently available, the next quest requires the Nighthold raid to open, which is rumored to release in February 2017.

As others have said, be sure to drop the feast as soon as you zone in.

If you miss or forget and complete the instance without dropping the feast you will have to wait a week to complete this quest. More than likely, if you have already completed this instance on mythic for the week the quest wont work then either (had that happen with another quest within this quest line.)

as u enter the dungeon just infront of where u put the keystone. there is a circle on the ground.
this is where u put the feast.ofc only on mythic mode.

If you are already saved to this dungeon for the week you will not be able to loot the item at the end and complete the quest.

Ok so this can not be completed on heroic, must be on mythic.
However if you are like me and did Karazhan attunement have no fear.
Go do mythic HoV again it is ok to get a group that is on last boss (Odyn) or in progress, this will help you finish quicker rather than doing a full run.
Upon entering in the instance quickly use quest item to place on plate near keystone. After that kill odyn, wait a minute or so and something happens over the loot chest. Click and you are ready to turn in quest back in Stormheim.

Even if you've already completed Halls of Valor in Mythic, you can still do this.

Just wait a minute for the quest item to appear above the chest. It is click-able.

The quest got two part:

-Put the feast down at the intrance of the dungeon (there is a little altar in front of the mythic plus keystone pillar). You can do that in heroic and mythic (heroic can't be done in Looking for group).

-The second part you got to kill Odyn and take the item over the looting chest (it takes a few seconds, let him talk).

Seems like it doesnt work in mythic plus.

Once you are done, talk with odyn to get back at the entrance (outside of the dungeon) and turn in the quest!

Got into a HoV group that was up to Skovald. Got in, a feast was already placed. I could not place mine and had to join a fresh group.

I'm not sure if you're not able to join a group that has already started, or if it's just because someone else's feast was already out, but I had to do a fresh M+0 run to complete this quest.

This quest design is seriously annoying. The first person that enters, put his feast down and then the rest of the group can't do it. If you were not the first one, you have to leave the group and hope for better luck next time, or help carry the lucky one to completion.

How did they expect this to turn out?

I see alot of ppl have had the same problem I had - someone else with the feast placed it before you.
You can still complete this quest without waiting a week or anything.

Complete the dungeon on mythic difficoulty normally, then invite someone to a group, promote that person to leader - jump in, place the feast, run out
Then run in again while not in a group - run up to Odyn and there's the item.
Tried this today, it works!

I just ran the dungeon 5 times, and got it on the last run today...
So as soon as you enter the dungeon in mythic difficulty / heroic ( I didn't see there the thing to present the food next to the pedestal for mythic +), well there will be something shinny on the ground and you click the food icon on the quest to put it off, after that just continue doing the dungeon as usually and after you defeat odyn and hes done with is usual RP, he will continue with the RP for the quest and the heart will appear just on top of the chest, he channels it with some holy light and after that you can click it and finish the quest.

Pretty sure I just encountered a really annoying "bug" with this quest (not really a bug but beware):

I had placed the feast in a group and completed the first part of the quest, but the group I was with was trash so I left and came back later to finish the quest. I did not place the feast the second time, since it was already marked as complete on my log, but then the quest never completed because apparently placing the feast triggers all of Odyn's dialogue and quest progress within the individual run. So for me, I basically wasted an entire run.

So be sure to place the feast right away when doing this quest.

If you are on the quest, but do not place the feast you get dialogue from Odyn when you get to the Ephemeral Way after downing Hyrja and Fenryr. He basically says that if you fight him without having placed the feast, he will be insulted and ensure that you never can enter the Halls of Valor again.

I did not have the courage to go through with the fight without placing it, so I ran out and placed it.

Have anyone tried it and seen what happens?

If you are doing this as a warrior, Odyn has an additional dialog for you: " If you seek my blessing, even you must complete the ancient trials of these halls, Valajar "

Only one person can complete this quest at a time. If someone else places their feast, they will get credit but you will not. Confirmed in a run today.

If you are with group of friends and want to do it just once best way is to all click the food once and only will all get credit for placing it down or anyone that missed you can just run out, reset, run in and place its just in front of the keystone thing and then you can go defeat odyn wait for a bit for him to do rp and loot the item.

Looks like it can now be completed by multiple players in a single mythic Halls of Valor run. One person in my group placed the feast at the entrance and three of us got credit for it (no additional clicking or using our own feasts was needed). After Odyn's defeat and his short RP the quest was marked as finished for all that had it in the quest log and clicked the Heart of Zin-Azshari.

Just confirmed, If you're with a group who placed the feast before you were in there, you can finish the run, zone out, have a friend invite you and reset the instance, run in, place the feast, zone out, leave party, zone back in and complete it!

This quest is absolutely poorly designed. First it says heroic or mythic, but it is only mythic. Then you have to put the feast down, but you can't if the feast is already down, which you won't get credit for if someone else does it. You can jump through some hoops to do it in the same run, but it really shouldn't come to that.

Despite what the other comments say, my experience as of December is that you have to do it all in a single run. I tried doing the "go to mythic solo to place the feast, do Odin in a group after that" and it didn't work. Next week I went into another group and figured that since my quest progress had the feast already marked as done I didn't have to bother - and it didn't work either. Only the 3rd week when I had both the feast (placed by a party member) and the whole instance done from the scratch in a single run it worked.

Ok so I just did a mythic group and killed Odyn without first having placed the feast (I didn't know where it was supposed to go). I run back to entrance of the dungeon, placed it, ran back to Odyn...... NOW WHAT?

People say there's an item above the chest you click but I see nothing. Talking to Odyn only gives me an option to leave the dungeon. So what the hell do I do? What a piece of @#$% quest.

I can fonfirm as of today that it works group-wide. I placed the feast at the beginning, and still another player in my group was able to click the object at the end and receive the blessing.

To clarify how this quest works. Place the feast on the ground, next to the keystone at the start of the dungeon. Run the entire dungeon, defeat Odyn. After the fight, an object will spawn on top of the loot chest. Click the object and get Odyn's blessing.

Afterwards, you might want to just run back out of the dungeon, because the turn-in is in Stormheim, south of Valdisdall, same place as previous quests.

Introduction
This quest is part of a comment-size guide for "Balance of Power." questline. Quests are pretty much self-explanatory and all it takes is some time and good will to complete them. Completing this questline rewards Artifact Appearance (Appearance 3, Tint 1).

Part 1
Image of Kalec appears in your Order Hall and gives you the following quest:
The Power Within (Meet Archmage Kalec at Azurewing Repose in Azsuna.)
Reasons behind appearance of Archmage Kalec in your Class Order Hall are not yet completely understood but most people noticed him few days after they completed their Class Campaign.

Part 2
From there you take a next quest from Senegos:
The Heart of Zin-Azshari (Retrieve the Heart of Zin-Azshari and defeat the Wrath of Azshara in the Eye of Azshara on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 3
After completing the previous quests you receive a few new quests (exactly 3: two from Senegos and one from Archmage Kalec).
Senegos:
A Vainglorious Past (Obtain a Vainglorious Draught from Veridis Fallon.)
- You can purchase Vainglorious Draught from Veridis Fallon in Crumbled Palace in Azsuna for 150g (Requirement: Court of Farondis - Honored).

Fallen Power (Recover a Corrupted Essence from Oakheart and defeat the Shade of Xavius in Darkheart Thicket on Mythic difficulty.)

Archmage Kalec:
Tempering Darkness (Obtain 30 Blood of Sargeras.)
Should not be a problem since by the time you get that quest and if you did not spend any Blood of Sargeras you should have some stacked up simply by completing Dungeons and World Quests.

Part 4
Archmage Kalec:
Lucid Strength (Absorb the power from the Corrupted Essence using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)
Right next to you.

Part 5
Senegos:
The Wisdom of Patience (Await the opening of The Emerald Nightmare, then report back to Senegos in Azsuna.)

Part 6
Archmage Kalec:
In Nightmares (Obtain a Deathglare Iris and the Horn of the Nightmare Lord from The Emerald Nightmare.) NOTE: NOT doable with LFR. It has to be Normal difficulty or higher. In order to complete this quest you need to kill 2 bosses: Il'gynoth and Xavius and loot mentioned quest items.

Senegos:
Essence of Power (Collect 30 Corrupted Essence from The Emerald Nightmare.) This quest gave me a weird WoD and Khadgar flashback. NOT doable with LFR. Only Normal or higher difficulty. Essences ~~do not~~ have a 100% drop rate and bosses can drop 1-2 3 Corrupted Essences at the time.

Part 7
Senegos:
Essential Consumption (Absorb the combined power of the Corrupted Essences using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)
Right next to you.

Part 8
Archmage Kalec:
Repaid Debt (Meet Archmage Kalec in the Shal'Aran in Suramar.)

Part 9
Thalrenus Rivertree:
Lost Knowledge (Obtain the Scroll of Elun'dris from First Arcanist Thalyssra.)
- Costs 120g. Requirement: The Nightfallen - Revered).

Part 10
Thalrenus Rivertree:
Borrowing Without Asking (Recover a Containment Crystal from the Vault of the Wardens on Mythic difficulty.)

Syrana Starweaver:
Rite of the Captain (Take Advisor Vandros' Eon Winder from The Arcway on Mythic difficulty.)

Lothrius Mooncaller:
Literary Perfection (Find Lothrius' first edition copy of "Wards, Sigils, and the Nightborne Way" in the Court of Stars on Mythic difficulty.)

Part 11
Syrana Starweaver:
Twisted Power (Use a Greater Portal Stone to summon Vizuul the Twisted at the Altar of End Times in Faronaar and collect his runebindings.)

Part 12

A True Test (Absorb the power from the Twisted Runebindings using the Heart of Zin-Azshari.)

Part 17
Ashildir:
Odyn's Blessing (Obtain Odyn's blessing in the Halls of Valor on ~~Heroic or~~ Mythic difficulty.)
- Use Grand Feast of Valhallas when you enter the dungeon - at the start. You can enter the dungeon alone, put the feast down, get out and then get a group to defeat Odyn and get his blessing. After you defeat him wait for him to finish his speech (RP) and then you can collect his blessing on the loot chest.

Part 18
Archmage Kalec:
Planning the Assault (Await the opening of the Nighthold, then meet Archmage Kalec in Shal'Aran.)

Part 19
Archmage Kalec:
Into the Nighthold (Collect 20 Nightshards from the Nighthold on Normal difficulty or higher.)
- Try and complete this quest without killing Gul'dan because if you kill him before acquiring The Nighthold: Darkness Calls quest in Part 20 he won't drop quest item for you this week and you'll need to wait for a next reset to complete The Nighthold: Darkness Calls quest in Part 20.

Thalrenus Rivertree:
The Nighthold: Delusions of Grandeur (Collect the core of Trilliax and Grand Magistrix Elisande's Millennia Tome in the Nighthold on Normal difficulty or higher.)

Part 20
Archmage Kalec:
The Nighthold: Darkness Calls (Bring one Gul'dan's eyes to Archmage Kalec on Normal difficulty or higher.)

Part 21
Archmage Kalec:
Balance of Power (Absorb the combined power of the Nightshards and the Eye of Gul'dan using the Heart of Zin-Azshari at the Lunar Crucible.)

One thing I couldn't find anywhere either: You can complete this if you are locked out for the week. Just get into a group with some randoms and do the mythic again, just don't forget to put down the offering before you start clearing the instance.

I think this is just a really buggy quest.

I was the only one in the group on the quest. Dropped the feast the start, got a dialogue about it. Complete the dungeon on mythic (non-keystone) like normal. No disconnects, no group changes, nothing weird, but the item never appears over the chest at the end for the blessing. Very frustrating.

Just ran this with someone else in the group that needed the quest. They got the feast down first and it didn't count for me, maybe because I hadn't zoned in yet. I couldn't put my feast down too to make it complete, so I couldn't click the thing on the end.

To summarise the information scattered in the posts:

This quest can ONLY be completed on mythic
There is an item in your bags, Grand Feast of Valhallas, that must be placed inside the entrance area of the Halls of Valor (just past the mythic keystone object, before the first corridor)
Wait until your entire group is inside before placing it.
If some impatient sod in your party has already placed it before you go in, either:
All run out, reset the instance and all place the feast (bug where only one person could place/not getting quest credit should have been fixed, as long as everyone is inside BEFORE the first feast is laid)
Complete the run (or leave) and re-run with a new group, remembering to place the feast. You won't get any boss loot for this second run.
When you have defeated Odin, and all have looted the chest, he will do a speech and the item should appear above the chest
Click on it
Speak to Odin to be transported outside the instance
Moonkins/Mages/Rogues* can stealth/invis to the wall past the first 3 groups of mobs and flap/feather/fly/jump down to where you picked the quest up from Ashildir, in Skold-Ashil to the West (or use your Flight Whistle to Grey Watch and ride under the bridge)

Now Nighthold is open, next quest in the chain is Preparing to Move from Archmage Kalec next to you.

*Option may be open to other classes with the kite, and engineers. Rogues ensure your artifact has at least one point in Cat Like Reflexes. Safe landing not guaranteed.

Edit: I re-ran this towards the end of BfA on my mage. Like the posters below, I probably didn't realise it had to be done on Mythic from the quest text (and didn't check the comments here, including my own!). Though it does allow you to place the Grand Feast of Valhallas on Heroic, having done the entire instance.. no blessing from Odyn. I must have given up on it for the night (I had it untracked in my log). When I was clearing down my BfA quest logs in pre-patch, I found the quest again. The criteria to place the feast had been met and it wasn't in my bags, so I cleared on Mythic... no blessing. Reading the comments below, it seems you now have to place the feast and defeat Odyn to get his blessing in the same run (or at least the same week). I went back to Dalaran (as the quest item was in her bank). Though you could place the feast in the cleared instance, having defeated Odyn already, no blessing. So I then went out, reset instance and went in to clear it for a third time, placing the Feast at the start to make sure, but of course, I was already locked to the M0 for this week.
Yes, I could just drop the quest, but at the end of the quest chain you do get the Balance of Power Legion artefact appearance unlocked.

When I did this quest, I had no idea what I was supposed to do. So I complete the entire dungeon and collect my reward after the fight with Odyn, blah blah blah. Then I ran back because I finally realized; and I couldn't complete the quest after I had already defeated Odyn. Just me being my stupid self. So yeah. You can't do the quest backwards. Hahaha

As of today, I tried doing this quest.
When everyone is inside the instance, when one player puts down the feast, it counts towards everyone, so, the issue seems to be fixed.

I haven't seen it said on here before, but in case you screw up like I did, you can fix it

I tried to do it on mythic plus, laid the feast down and didn't get his favor at the end. Annoyed; I did it again on regular mythic, but didn't place the feast because it was already checked off. This thought process was wrong

I did it a THIRD time, on regular mythic again, and placed the feast at the beginning. Then killed all the bosses including him, and it worked. He jabbers a lot at the end while he powers up the item. It hovers over the loot chest, but isn't targetable until he stops talking

Hang in there for his nonsense to be over with, loot the item, and turn it in to move on to Kalec

Hope this helps prevent someone else from raging like I did

You can hand this quest in even after having:

a) Put the feast before - make sure you redo the feast if you try again or else it won't count. You need the conversation started.
b) If you have a lock for normal mythic of this dungeon it can still be done :)

I had the feast down before grouping up to save issues. He did NOT grant me nor the others in my group on the quest his favor. We waited around for 40 minutes to see if it was a lag or bug. NOTHING!

I've opened a GM ticket in hopes they will deal with this because I really hate this instance and didn't enjoy having to pug it to begin with.

SO! This is I think the biggest pain in the ass I've ever encountered in game..
"present feast to odyn", thought for sure that would mean within sight of him. NOPE!
Then solo'd the whole dungeon as BM, thought the quest required a group to work or something.
Just then noticed the objective circle right at the entrance, pop'd the feast down, went up to odyn again but nothing to do there.
Then started a group with some1 else zoning in first so he could provide a fresh save, killed everything again with the group this time.
Did not think I'd have to pop the feast down again since that part of the quest was alrdy finished, but yeah, nothing to click/loot.. FML!

ok so in case any of the comments get you all confused as they did me, just place the offering as you get in, on the shiny circle on the ground, right past the font, then go through the dungeon and defeat all bosses and you'll get the reward.

you don't need none of that leave the group, join a group, go back solo stuff.

As of May 12, 2018 this quest is still not functioning properly. If you - for whatever reasons - do not get Odyn's blessing after defeating him and have "wasted" your weekly ID, just port out, abandon the quest completely and get a new one. Then, look for a Halls of Valor (Mythic) run in the LFG tool, join, place your new meal (when all group menbers are in), and defeat Odyn again. You obviously won't get any loot in this ID, but you should get the blessing now. If not, rinse and repeat. Since this is a quest, it can be abandoned and repeated as often as you want.

Im not convinced that this is a bug. I too went in alone, placed the feat and left to look for a group. Unfortunately the group I joined was already past two bosses. We killed the last two but as expected (after reading the comments) I did not progress with the quest. This might be to prevent people from doing this quest in another players ID. You have to kill all bosses yourself in order to get the odyn conversation.

After reading here and elsewhere that the feast could be placed separately from running the dungeon, I did so. Went in, put it down just inside the entrance, and left to do other stuff and wait for a group. Got tired of waiting, went back in, made sure, I still had credit for placing the feast, and completed the dungeon solo. I didn’t get the speach after defeating Odyn and could not receive his blessing.

I think perhaps you do have to place the feast when entering the dungeon to clear it.

I can confirm, as of today (2019-07-15), this is a fairly easy quest to solo as level 120. Just go into the dungeon (Mythic) and place the feast at the spot that's sparkling. Go through the dungeon and kill all the bosses. Go to Odyn, defeat all his lesser kings, kill Skovald and whack Odyn upside the head a few times. Claim his blessing and it's over. No bugs, no problems.

Brain-afk as I sometimes am, I went in on the x-th alt and defeated Hymdall before placing the Feast. Completing the dungeon still counted for the quest, though, I received Odyn's favor.

If you run into the dungeon, forget to place the feast and start killing stuff, Odyn has several lines reminding you to do so.

He gets increasingly confused the further you go, though I only went into the main hall past hymdall before I remembered to actually set the thing down.

Here's some up-to-date information.
Game version 9.0.1, ShadowLands prepatch, October 29, 2020.
1) The quest can be done ONLY in the mythic "0" version of the dungeon (no keys). Doesn't work in heroic.
2) CD for a mythic dungeon for 7 days, if you killed all the bosses, forgetting to do the quest (this is me, I did not set the feast. Odyn did not bless and died) and you enter again, then there will be no bosses and trash.
3) You are in a panic, the quest is not completed, the bosses are gone, the horror of the CD week, what should I do?

DECISION
Find any person with a clean CD for the Mythic Hall, create a group with him, in which he must be the leader. Further, your friend is not required to do anything, neither enter the dungeon, nor in any way participate in its passage. Just go into the dungeon and lo and behold, bosses and trash again stand in their places, the only thing you will not get from them and their chests after the kill. Calmly set up a feast, clear the dungeon and at the end Odyn completes your quest.

It seems like you have to place the feast then kill Odyn as place the feast will trigger the second part of the quest. I didn't read the quest carefully and just went and did the whole dungeon (killed Odyn and looted). Then had to run all the way back to the entrance to put the feast down like other comments have said. Ran back to Odyn and... nothing. Guess I gotta do this again next week after reset.

As of Oct 25th 2022. PUT FEAST DOWN EVERY TIME. I made mistake of putting it down one week after I killed him. got the Get his blessing so I went in today thinking I did part one go right at him... Nope. Now locked out for another week...

You can put the feast down after you clear everything, but the Odin himself. Just because I forgot to check the quest on wowhead, I've killed 3 bosses and only then figured out how the quest works. Came back to the start of the dungeon, put the feast down, came back to Odin's room, killed both bosses, and object which gives the blessing popped up.

Here are some helpful tips for doing this quest in Dragonflight:

As it scales down to Legion expansion, you can quickly clear this in Mythic difficulty.
1. Put down your feast right at the entrance.
2. Clear all the bosses including Odyn.
3. After killing Odyn you get a dialog, which spawns an artifact in the middle of the room. This is a part of the quest line.

Talk to it and you're done!

2023 - working fix if you mess up the quest:

If, like me, you forgot to click the feast at the start when you entered (and you do not want to wait a week for another try); here is what you can do to complete it same day:

(you need 1 person to invite you to group for just a few seconds, they don't have to go in the dungeon and they can invite you from anywhere).

1. Have someone else who hasn't done Mythic Halls that week yet invite you to a group.
2. Have leader set dungeons to Mythic and have them reset all instances.
3. Then you can enter, you will get a fresh Mythic clear (all bosses will be up).
(you wont be able to get loot, but you can now do the quest).

1. As soon as you enter click the quest item to create a feast at the start.
2. clear the dungeon, after killing last boss wait a few minutes.
3. After the roleplay dialogue the boss will create the item for you to click and complete the quest.

If you're running this recently and hoping anything changed, you should know better. Posting this to confirm as of Halloween 2023 if you're among the 95% of players who don't read quest text and just follow the objective tracker, you're probably reading this in frustration hoping desperately for a workaround! lol (Either find a partner to run their reset, or wait til next week. Those are your options.)

This is one of the dumbest quests I've ever done. The quest tracker on the side showed: -Odyn Defeated -Earn Odyn's Favor. There was no icon to click until as soon as I defeated Odyn and THEN it popped up, so I was thinking okay, I beat him, now I get his favor... but obviously I couldn't use it.

Good thing I did it on a Tuesday so instead of finishing Balance of Power tonight I get to wait an entire extra week. /le sigh (I'm not bothering trying to find someone to group with to do it. I'll just wait... lol)

Actually dumb little things cost me TWO weeks now. The previous parts had you get revered with the Valarjar so I spammed Maw of Souls (did Mythic first) and then the next quest was to do Mythic Maw. /headdesk

I couldn't figure out where to turn in the completed 'Halls of Valor: Odyn's Blessing'. It's Ashildir at 62, 68 in Stormheim. Then to the next quest 'Preparing to Move' from Archmage Kalec in the same location.

If you mess up - do not kill Odyn - go back to the start and place the feast near a tiny spot you see on the floor at the start of the dungeon. Then go and fight Odyn. If you do fight Odyn before doing this you can get in a group with someone and have them invite you - have them reset all instances and do the dungeon over again. You won't get loot but you will be able to complete the quest.
