The first quest in a series given by Defender Kaluum/Defender Kaluum @ (57,51) in Auchenai Precipice (Talador) that rewards the follower Defender Kaluum.

Currently in beta it rewards the follower Magister Serena / Magister Krelas which is probably a bug. :)

If you have the mortar fire garrison ability, pull both mobs and then use the ability on both of them. It makes this quest extremely easy.

Not sure if i was badly geared at the time but compared to other group quest they seem to hit a bit hard.

Defender Illona Acquisition:
You will find Defender Illona on a circular plaza in Talador at (57.5, 51.2), just west of the northern tip of the island in the middle. You acquire Defender Illona / Aeda Brightdawn by completing Gatekeepers of Auchindoun. The targets for this quest are in the same plaza as the questgiver.

Another, easy to collect, nearby follower:
After acquiring Defender Illona, just a few steps away is one more quest, after which you can acquire the Pleasure-Bot 8000. Go east, to the NW tip of the island in Talador, to (62.9, 50.4), and complete Clear! by killing nearby eels. After the turn in wait a few seconds (30-60) and the Pleasure-Bot 8000 will come to life and give you a quest to take it on as your follower.

Coords: The closest flightpath is Terokkar Refuge on the small island in the middle.

This quest is a reference to, or at least parallels, "gatekeeper" raid bosses, who are basically gear checks for the rest of the raid instance. Consider how Illona has "old" armor (gear) and so is not capable of defeating the gatekeeper bosses. That's when you come along and pass the gear check, thus opening the gates and allowing the raid to proceed.

Can someone help you with these guys? My squishy-clothie could really use a bodyguard even just for leveling quests and such.

As a hunter, Dalu was really easy. Halaari was a little hard because she doesn't attack your pet and usually you don't need to interrupt while leveling so you might be surprised by how good her heal is, so just use Counter Shot and interrupt her Void Mend.

This does not appear to be tied to the main quest chain in Talador. I kept continuing that chain (quests like Nightmare in the Tomb and Antivenin) but did not get a breadcrumb quest to see Illona. But when I rode up to her location on my own, this quest was available, so I was able to recruit her.

I had the weirdest experience with this quest today. When clicking the individual npc's to activate them, I immediately got shot away, into the water in front of Shattrath city at 46,16.

Had to run back both times to kill them, fortunately activated from my previous endeavor.

From Fort Wrynn, travel to Terokkar Refuge in Talador. Travel west, across the water, to coords 62, 57, and follow the paved path to the north. Continue onward and up the stairs, on your left, at coords 59.3, 52.5.

Accept the quest, Gatekeepers of Auchindoun, from Defender Illona at coords 57.4, 51.1.

1. Gatekeepers of Auchindoun - Click on Vindicator Dalu at coords 57.4, 52.7, and select "Very well. Let us fight." Also click on Soulbinder Halaari and select "So be it."
• You must then defeat both Vindicator Dalu and Soulbinder Halaari in combat.
• After their defeat, turn the quest in to Defender Illona at 57.4, 51.1.
• This will give you Defender Illona / Aeda Brightdawn as a new follower, and a Bodyguard if you have a Level 2 Barracks Level 2.

Wow, thanks Blizzard. Due to level scaling, Halaari is now a level 100 with a dot that casts Shadow Word: Pain which ticks down nearly all your health with a heal that heals her back up to full health.

Defeat Vindicator Dalu and Soulbinder Halaari.

Description

Auchindoun is under attack, stranger, and I intend to help defend it.

The only problem is the only armor I could find was my grandfather's old set, and it isn't nearly enough to defeat the spirits blocking the path toward Auchindoun.

Would you defeat them and let me through the gate with you? I will find a way to repay you!
