I was here for over twenty minutes, being in several groups who tagged him first and still not getting it. If this happens, abandon the quest and get it again. If it still doesn't work, relog. Took me waaaay longer than it had to to complete.

Problem for an 85 Rogue solo. 1st try was a wash and I had to hit my Vanish or it was the graveyard for sure. So, I came here and saw nothing about how to or what to do with Koukou. Went back and figured it was one of those 'wait for another player' quests. While I'm standin there in stealth, waiting, I re-read the quest and the words "hit her fast n hard and she won't feel a thing", kept bouncin thru my head, So I figured wutdahey, give it one more try. Targeted her again and clicked my Elementium Dragonling (made it w/engineering) extra DPS help. Hit Vendetta for the added damage buff. Game on! Then Shadowstep, Smoke Bomb, Ambush, Mutilate 3 times, Envenom, Dispatch, Envenom, Dispatch and finally Fan of Knives 3 times. Then just hit all that came available at that point. Saw my health bar was almost total black, but just then she croaked. Ran my mouse up to see what health I had left and was really amazed that it said 984. Out of my normal 124K, that is what I call the epitome of close calls. Actually walked away and couldn't do much for a few secs in disbelief of how I did that. I would recommend waiting for another player but, just for kicks give her a couple shots. Ya just never know! Peace!

Koukou is an easy kill for my L85 hunter.

he yielded a couple pieces of shatouched leather, the first I'd seen in the game and a bloated stomach with almost 2gold in it.

The quest turn-in is not at the quest giver who is located (with his Pandarian wife) where Koukou is rampaging. So while I was thinking about what to do, Koukou respawns. He's on about a 1 minute timer for respawn. So, I kill him again. This time I get a couple pieces of exotic leather.

So I just stand back and farm koukou without doing the turn-in for quest completion. I filled a 28slot LW bag with high grade leather (Sha-touched and exotic stacks of 20), some prismatic scales, and some motes, and gold from the drops. I raised my skinning skill from 555 to 570 and have enough leather to raise my leatherworking about 15-20points also.

The quest-giver is also an npc merchant, so I can clear-out the grey items and other junk by selling it to him right there. easy-as-pie.

Koukou is worth 20,000xp every kill, and I went from 85% to 99% on my L85xp bar.

Every so often another player shows up to do the quest, and I just go fishing for a minute or two.

I logged out last night at this location, and will return to get a few more skins and enough xp to make L86.

Doing This Quest for the 3rd time, (Hunter and Priest before), now on 85 Rogue.
This quest was a complete walk in the park before - but for the Rogue is a serious challenge.

If you can tank the beast or damage it from range, then you're onto a winner.
Otherwise it's a complete pain.

What does Blizzard have against Rogues ?

Be warned: If you have a companion pet/ battle pet out with you during this fight, watch out for his belly flop, he will kill the battle pet if its in its AoE range.

It happened to my poor, poor, Murkalot.... T.T
(However, it doesn't lower its damage, it just strangely dies....)

Often there will already be someone fighting the mob so if you turn in the prior quest quickly and then on-hit the mob, you can just stand back out of range and let whoever is already killing it finish it off, then turn in the quest.

I just completed this quest on hunter, but NOT by killing him!
I tamed him instead and the quest was considered complete!

{The Champion accepts, and solemnly steps in front of the once-gentle beast.}
{The Champion looks back at Lin Applebloom, who gives a sad nod, tears rolling down her cheeks.}
{The Champion turns back to the magnificent beast, steeling their resolve to do this act of mercy.}

{The Champion begins hacking away at the beast with semi-blunt and chipped daggers,
repeatedly stabbing anywhere and everywhere that they can connect steel to flesh;
kicking the beast occasionally; Slice and Dice; stabbing and slashing, anywhere, everywhere;
rolling, dodging out of the way, only to appear at the beast's tail end and thrusting their dagger into its flank.}
{All the while, the beast is screaming and yelling, a grotesque sound of pain and fear; a torturous sound.}
{The Champion continues hacking and stabbing away,
eye, nose, shoulder, ear, ribs, eyes again, neck;
blood spraying everywhere, turning the Champion into a swift, ferocious, glistening red demon.}
{The beast eventually, finally lets out a mournful, tearjerking, heart wrenching moan of pain, sadness, betrayal... and becomes still.}

{The Champion looks back at Lin Applebloom and sees that she is stunned, standing frozen,
a look of pure terror mixed with disgust and regret, all apparent on her tear-soaked face.}

{The Champion takes a step toward her, but stops when Lin Applebloom flinches in fear,
immediately recoiling in disgust and horror.}

{Lin Applebloom's disgust immediately turns to outrage.}

Strained, anger wrapping its sharp claws and tightening them around her throat,
Lin Applebloom chokes out:

I... told... you...
"Strike swift and sure."
I... told... you...
Not to let him feel a thing.

The Champion stares at her, analyzing her face and wondering where this sudden rage came from,
yet far too exhausted from bringing down this massive beast to much care, and says plainly:

Huh. I thought you were speaking in metaphor.
You can clearly see I'm only level 18. I don't have all that many abilities at my disposal yet.
Now, if you had asked a Level 60, it certainly would have been "swift and sure".
But do you see any Level 60 Champions around? Exactly. I'm all you've got.

{The Champion pauses and begins to turn around, only to pivot once again to face the fuzzy puddle of tears.}

Regardless, I'm a Rogue. Would you have preferred that I had switched to Assassination,
and ended him even more slowly and painfully, as my numerous poisons slowly coursed through the beast's massive body?
It could have taken quite a long time, though... it could have saved me quite a bit of trouble...
The beast was lucky I forgot to coat my daggers with my Instant Poison beforehand.
I've heard that the few victims I've left alive have said that poison is excruciating.

Lin Applebloom, her wrath melting from sheer disbelief and incredulous shock,
begins to let out a typhoon of helpless sobs and manages to choke out:

You... didn't... have to... butcher him!

{The Champion looks at her for a long moment, reading her eyes,
then shrugs, turns back around to the still-warm corpse, now stiff from rigor mortis, and begins skinning it.}

{The Champion hears a sudden cacaphony of grief-wracked sobs,
the occassional soul-searing shriek splitting their eardrums.}

{When the Champion finally finishes truly butchering the carcass,
they let out a long sigh, wipe their blade, and stuff the skins in their travel pack.}
{They look back, ready to ask Lin Applebloom about their reward, but find nothing but beach and ocean behind them.}

I'm sure I'll run into her at the Village. I'll ask around for her.

{The Champion sets off, ready for their next gruesome task, if only for a couple gold pieces.}
