Run down the hill until you're in the "Valley of Ashes" and blow the horn. Fly your drake around the Valley, pressing one and aiming at the mobs. It's faster if you fly around and find the big squadrons that are patrolling around. 1 shot can kill upwards of 30 mobs.

Then fly your drake back to Morgan's Vigil!

A Perfect Costume (4 versions) Read the quest carefully. What creature disguise do you need?

Dialogue during quest:

High Warlock Xi'lun says: We are nearly prepared to start this battle, brothers. Thorg'izog, what is the matter? Why are you covering your butt like that?
General Thorg'izog says: WHAT? No reason... it's just... something is very wrong with my stomach. I think it's something I ate.
High Warlock Xi'lun says: Can you still lead your troops? Do you need to promote one of your sergeants?
General Thorg'izog says: Timan fell from the Pillar of Ash. Othana was eaten by wolves. Gorlop fell in lava. And most of my sergeants were killed in a freak cudgelling accident.
High Warlock Xi'lun says: I see. Well, do the best you can. And Neeralak, why are you all black and smoky?
Dragon-Lord Neeralak says: Those imps you had delivered... they woke up and started shooting fireballs at everybody! It was chaos!
High Warlock Xi'lun says: Delivered? Woke up? What are you even talking about? Were you attacked by flamekin?
Dragon-Lord Neeralak says: Imps, flamekin, whatever! I don't know warlock crap. Demons all look the same to me!

Skipping the cinematic can bug the quest. Best to see it through to the end.

The cinematic bugged out for me and I didn't get to see much of it. I did a lot of staring at the sky though :(

If you are doing this quest:

Do not skip the cinematic. Waiting around only sometimes corrects it. It also places you in a different than normal zone, and thus there will be no mobs, npcs, or flight paths available.

Do not alt-tab out of the game during the cinematic. This bugs it so that when you tab back it, it loops the most recent 1-2 second portion of the cinematic, forever. Abandoning the quest will stop this loop, but not restore you to the normal zone.

Take off your orc disguise before starting the quest. This cannot be emphasised enough. Leaving it on means you cannot kill the enemy.

While on the dragon your character will flex, roar and perform other actions of the sort.

I would suggest killing all mobs that you see, as whatever you don't kill with your drake will aggro you in the follow up quest, when you have to kill the 3 leaders.

After I completed this quest, I started on the follow-up (Glory Amidst Chaos). Checked wowhead to see if there were any useful suggestions, and read a comment that getting past all the mobs to reach the three NPCs for the quest can be a bit of a pita.

Now, I can't verify this, because I only read this comment after going to town raining sweet, sweet dragonfire on every panicking Blackrock mob in sight whilst doing this quest, but...

It seemed to me that the big packs of mobs I'd slain stayed down. Due to this, I didn't find it very challenging to get some of the smaller pods or single BR enemies I'd left behind.

Wish I could try these quests again to test this theory, but alas, they are both now complete. Just an idea/tip in case anybody reads this before doing the quests!

It seems that if you want to complete the Loremaster achievement for this zone you'll sadly have to complete this quest. I had 39/40 quests with only this quest left. My advice: get the Burning Steppes Loremaster achievement on an alt you hardly play so you can keep this quest up infinitely on your main!

Remember to cancel the Blackrock Orc Disguise before starting the quest, otherwise you cannot deal damage to any of the Blackrock Invaders.

Alternatively, you can use this macro to remove the buff.

/cancelaura Blackrock orc disguise

I guess I was the only one that didn't know you could go down with the Dragon. For those that are as oblivious as me, "X" key takes the dragon down (just as in swimming). lol
