As of Beta build 12644, this quest (and some other stuff in Nespirah) is bugged. Many players cannot find Earthmender Duarn at all. In order to get Duarn to spawn, I had to reenter a few times and just walk inside without mounting up.

Nespirah is, of course, the humongous turtle-like creature in the Shimmering Expanse. He has several reddish tubes that appear on either side of his head, but the one to the left of his head when facing it seems to be the one intended for players to use as an entrance.

If it works properly, Duarn and the other guy will spawn walking in ahead of you, go up to the ledge of the main room, then walk into the brain room where you complete the quest.

I had to drop this and redo twice. What I did the third time was mark the tauren guy with a star because he kept bouncing around. Eventually though he landed in the brain and I managed to complete it. YMMV.

if you cann't communicate with nespirah, you have to go out, then again go in, but DON'T mount up. tauren Earthmender Duarn <The Earthen RIng> will appears. Follow him to that little cave (entrance is next to big entrance to Nespirah) with that thing which looks like brain and wait for him here, it will complete your quest and will give you another.

What worked for me was using the 'Raid Target Icon' to put symbols on the heads of the 2 Earthen Ring guys as soon as you see them, so you can sorta follow them as they fall thru the floor and loop around. They made 3 laps for me before finally making it to the spot and staying put.

When you zone through the NW entrance and go up the spiraling walkway it should spawn some NPCs, if it doesn't zone out and zone back in.

Nespirah front has a large murloc like face.
It has 1 entrance on the left and 2 entrances on the right.
To trigger the event for this quest, you should be entering from the left and walk the spiral to the 2 lamps then wait for the npc to spawn and follow.

I've entered this cave over ten times now and have not had the NPC's spawn one time. No flight master. No NPC's. A full hour spent. If it's not a bug, it's a poorly designed quest.

I had trouble finding the NPC for this quest as well. You have to enter the entrance unmounted and as you get out of the water, wait there until two mobs spawn that are talking to each other. Then follow them and your NPC will spawn.

Where exactly should you wait for the NPC's to spawn? Right when you get out of the water? Or at the top of the spiral ramp? Or outside the small cave inside? Or inside it?
I have tried waiting at all four spots, but I figured if I'm going to keep trying, maybe I could narrow it down some. :)

Update:

I got it to work.
Of the 3 entrances, I had been going into the middle of the three instead of the far left entrance.
The far left entrance is a ways over from the other two. Going in the correct entrance made all the difference. :)

Maybe it's because I'm blonde, but I had a hard time finding the way in and to the brain room, even after reading the above comments. So to help others like me - When you get the quest and leave Silvertide Hollow, turn right and go over Glimmerdeep Gorge. There you will find Nespirah's "face" near the sea floor (it has several eyes, and tentacles reaching down into the Gorge). When you look at her face, there will be a single tunnel on the left and two on the right. Take the single tunnel on the left and go all the way up the ramp. When you reach the two fishbowl lampposts at the top of the ramp, Earthmender Duarn and his shaman friend will appear in front of you. Follow them. I hope this helps!

Make sure that the brain room is on your right when you enter the interior from the tube. The quest will not work if you come up the wrong tube.

If you come in the far left entrance, the 2 NPC's spawn and run to the edge of the pit. Then after a little chit-chat they double back and to the right to the small 'brain' antechamber behind you where the quest hand in NPC is standing.

I had trouble with this forever.

Once you pick up the quest, go talk to the 'Flight Master' and select the 'I need to go to Nespirah' option (wording is not exact). The flight master will drop you at the end of the tunnel. <Do not mount up> Run inside and wait, as you enter the room the two Earthen Ring guys will appear, follow them into the brain room and wait. The quest will complete and another will become available.

I found the only way to avoid this glich is to ride the underwater gryphon from where you get the quest from the quest giver. When you go to the gryphon master there will be text saying "Can you show me the way to Nespirah" click on that and when you get to the entrance of Nespirah go inside walk up the ramp and the NPC quest giver will catch up with you and just follow them to the brain chamber...

I believe you need to complete the quest this way. First, pick up the quest; don't do anything else. Second, take the "swim" path to Nespirah via talking to the Swift Seahorse near the north entrance. After you take the swim path don't mount or anything. Just walk up the "tube" unmounted. When you enter her actual body wait a bit and look behind you. Two NPCs should spawn. Follow them around while they enter the brain. After that a little dialog comes up and you can complete the quest.

If this doesn't work, try abandoning the quest and redoing what I posted above.

it's not that you HAVE to take the 'flight path' there, its that you CANNOT use ANY mount, no seahorse to get to the entrance, no riding mount inside, nothing.

not sure if it makes a dif, but the time it finally worked for me, i did not use any druid form either.

I also got lost trying to find the entrance to Nespirah. Here's a screenshot of where you should be in the map to able to see the entrance: Nespirah Quest Screenshot . Once I got inside and up the ramp, two npcs spawned instantly . I guess they fixed the quest already.

I mounted up as soon as I got in, 2 NPC's spawned and ran forward, stood on edge for a moment....ran into other room to my right....Completed. Was able to turn in quest and get next one right there.

My quest is completed in my quest log, but no follow up was given. So now I have a completed quest in my log and a question mark in the brain room on my mini map...but no Earthmender Duarn. He never appeared for me, though some other players phased in at the same time as I entered and went off with him. That may be why it completed for me? I've left and re-entered several times and waited on the ramp...no luck. No, I am not mounted.

This is a simple quest. I could not find any "zone in" that was referred to in previous posts. I do know to reset the timer, just head back out into the water until you get your "sea legs" and then return. It is best to do this unmounted. When you get to the top of the spiral ramp, stop and wait. A tauren and a draenei show up - both will have blue name plates like pets. They will run up to overlook the main area, then turn and run to the "brain" which is next to the entrance. Follow them in and one of them will give you a completion (depending on your faction). If you miss it or screw it up somehow, just swim out til you get your "sea legs" buff and then return and try it again.

OMG, I'm having a hard time with this quest line.........I feel so bad for the "LITTLE" creature. I mean before one even is sent to find out what's going on, you see the "lost helpless look in it's eyes" as you're swimming past it over and over again. :P I know, I know..........I'm a dork, but I just had to say something. Enter the northwestern tube and head up the spiral entrance. Once you pass between the two lamps at the top of the spiral unmounted, two NPCs will spawn next to you.

Completely random but i found a fault in nespirah's eye on the most southern eye... at the bottom of the eye there is a gap in the protective layer and you can swim inside of the eye! yep im a sick person

When you get out of the water run up (don't mount) as you enter the main body the two NPCs will spawn and start running forward for a bit. Just wait for them to finish and they will turn around and enter the brain area and you can hand in your quest then and start the next chain.

Hope that helps. Remember don't mount up at first.

I completed the Pearl of Wisdom but never could get Durarn to give me the quest of Nespirah. Anyone have same problem & if so how to fix. Friend actually had the Nespirah quest before the Pearl quest so perhaps I'm missing something in the translation of "A Series" starting with the Pearl quest, following with the Nespirah quest plus the third to complete. Thanks

Run in, straight in, not into the chamber. Head for the two poles with the goldfish bowl type things on the main body.
That's where they spawn, not inside the chamber.

When you enter, do NOT mount up when inside Nesphira.

For thouse who say its bugged it actually is not. At first I thought it was for me because the npc never showed up few times I dropped the quest and relogged. What I was doing wrong was going into the cave (entrance with the bubbles coming out of it) and running straight to the brain room. What I didnt do was actually run out of the cave towards the ledge over looking the area of nagas and slaves. It was actually then when I started to run to the ledge the npcs showed up. If you break line of sight with them they WILL despawn and have to run back to the cave (do not have to go into the water) and walk back inside to make them reappear and you do not have to drop the quest and pick it up again. Hope This Helps!

PS I managed to have them appear both on foot and while mounted you just have to make sure you walk out of the entrance a few to make them appear do not go straight to the brain room.

I failed to follow the NPC's the first time so I abandoned the quest and claimed it again, except the NPC's didn't spawn running up the entrance... wandered around for a bit to find them standing in the "hall" observing the Idra'kess which caused them to start heading for the room.

A considerable amount of time had passed, more than enough for them to have completed their part so it appears they "wait" here for you.

Ithink i figured it out. You cant run straight for the brain. You have to run inbetween the two naga lightposts toward the center of nespirah. Then the npcs will appear, run to the edge overlooking the naga slavemasters, say something, then they will turn and run to the brain area to give you the quests. Good luck!

Still bugged as of today. No sign of the NPCs anywhere.

Run in, run out at least five times.
Dropped the quest and taken it up again three times.
Logged in, logged out, shut game down and restarted.
Run all the way around Nespirah
Not mounted.

EDIT: FINALLY appeared on the fourth re-take of the quest. This quest is buggy as hell.

I did this quest yesterday with my panda. The problem (glitch) seems to be all about the speed in which you enter the tunnel into Nespirah.

At first I entered into the tunnel via seahorse, then got dismounted. I switched to the riding mount and entered the area near where the quest-giving NPCs should have been to find the area deserted. I ran back out to the entrance of the tunnel, did a /reload, and started WALKING into the tunnel. As I did this, the previously unseen NPCs ran past me to the area where they're supposed to be (near Nespirah's "brain").

Just to be on the safe side, I ran to them instead of mounting up again.

I had to go out and swim back in, then wait at the very top of the tunnel before the Earthmender NPC's showed up. I made sure to not be in any druid form (which I was the first time), and it worked. I waited at the goldfish bowl light things for about 3 seconds and they showed up.

Its been 5 years, as of this year, and Blizzard still has done nothing to fix this quest so it works as you walk into the cave, mounting or otherwise.

Took the provided flight master to the small Nespirah entrance rather than seahorsing myself there. I swam/ran inside and then ran up to the open area and the NPCs appeared as they should and I had no problem.

If you are worried about getting a bugged quest, try this method. It worked for me at least.

This quest is still messed up. I hate having to resort to out-of-game sources *during* a quest just to be able to complete it. Is there a way to report/petition to Blizzard that this quest is like trying to jump from stepping stone to stepping stone in pitch black?

The NPCs will spawn actually *right inside* the entrance, by the water. They immediately run up the spiral, through the two "lightposts" and head to the nearby edge overlooking the depression in the huge chamber. *ONLY THEN* do they acknowledge your presence with text (if you are nearby). *Then* they run over to the "brain chamber" and if you followed them the quest should complete and Earthmender Duarn will be there in the chamber for you to turn in the quest and get a new one.

The first time I did this I didn't recognize them as they ran past me and didn't say anything or stop. That behavior is like 99.99999% of all the other PCs in the game, and I thought there were fellow players and didn't read their names before they got out of sight *two seconds* later.)

Blizzard, here are some useful tweaks that can make this a whole lot less frustrating:
1. Earthmender Duarn tells you to use the Flight Master to find the correct entrance.
2. Earthmender Duarn tells you to dismount once inside the entrance (really shouldn't be relevant, but from other comments, it seems to be).
3. A small blue "quest zone" circle on the (mini-)map to indicate where to wait for the NPCs.
4. A "Good, you're here. Follow us." from Earthmender Duarn as he runs past in the entrance. That way, the instruction is in the chat box in case you missed it on-screen.

I've done this on a number of characters over the years. Can't believe it's still not fixed, but that's Blizzard for you.
Follow these steps exactly and you should have no issue:

Run over to the "flight" master seahorse by the quest giver and say you need a ride to Nespirah. (Not required, but this minimizes the chance of bugs)
Run inside. Do not mount up. (Also not a requirement)
Resist the urge to follow the wall to the quest marker on the map.
Instead, run straight ahead once inside, and through the middle of the two trident lamp posts just inside Nespirah. (This is important)
As you're about to run through the two lamp posts, Duarn and Erunak should spawn beside you. They'll run up, have a look at the inside, then run to the quest marker on the map.
If they for some reason didn't spawn, abandon the quest and swim back to try the steps again.

Ok, so I have done this several times trying different methods to make sure of exactly what the issue is with this quest. It took watching the one video posted here on it and I just about missed the key.

It has NOTHING to do with anything other than you have to STOP directly before but between the two trident lights that you come to first. Out of everything I tried nothing else mattered and I was even mounted when I tried it a couple times.

Seriously mount or not just stop just before them in a centered position. The two guys should spawn right away. Then follow them and turn in the quest because they do de-spawn I found if you wait too long... like posting an update to this.

The quest text is missing a key point - you have to talk to the Flight Master and get a ride to Nespirah from him for the NPCs to materialise inside.

Description

It is clear to me at this point what must be done, <name>.

The naga can only be obtaining these pearls from one place: Nespirah, the ancient, shelled creature that rests outside of this cave. Why Nespirah would submit to the naga, however, is beyond my understanding.

We can enter Nespirah's body cavity through a small tube near the exit to this cave. I must first fetch my master, then we can meet you on the inside. We will convene in Nespirah's northwestern entrance.
