if you are lower level target the oil canisters and these mobs are easy.

You have to also turn in Bombs Away: Windshear Mine! to unlock the next quest in the chain which is Windshear Mine Cleanup.

You can use a root spell on the Orcs and then kill their canisters for easy credit.

Be sure to get in a bit of damage on the Orc, you won't get quest update if you just target the canister

Level 29 druid - no major spells, no helpers or minions, got through this by:

1. Entangling Roots the orc; then
2. using whatever long range spells I have (usually wrath or starfire) to take out the cannister.

All done safely from a distance.

The entangling roots does damage to the orc, which then counts as a kill :)

For some reason I'm having a very hard time taking the canisters out with my lvl 31 priest, though the canisters and the orcs are green for me. They don't appear to respond well to my DOT spells? I recommend watching to make sure you keep your power word: shield up and smiting the heck out of them. Otherwise I've actually run out of mana when an add wandered by.

Lvl 25 Frost Mage when doing this, I found it a bit hard as a lot of my gear is still mid teens greens. Trick I found worked for me was to sheep the incinerator then target the canister. At this release of the game (4.2) blowing up the canister meant I got the kill towards the quest objective, but could not loot the body. My way round that was to sheep the incinerator, then to run the canister down to near nothing then use an AOE such as Frost Nova, Cone of Code, or Arcane Explosion to finish the job. The incinerator was recorded as being hit by me so eligible for looting and blew the canister at the same time. After finding this method, killing them became a breeze.

I did damage on some orcs, but most of the time I only attacked the canisters and got quest reward.

This quest seems to be bugged, sometimes blowing up the tanks work but alot of the time the cannisters blow up and do no damage to the incinerators! Very annoying!

If you're ranged, make sure a tree is between you and the orc. They will most likely stop running towards you and rather set the tree on fire.

As of this date every time I blew a canister it killed the orc. Also very good tip re: use of roots to hold orc while attacking the tank from distance. Or even at hand to hand range focus on the can
ister mot orc as one will kill other and cease the fire attack also.

As of now, destroying the canister does nothing to the Incinerator. I damage him to be sure I get kill credit, then attack the canister, but after the canister is destroyed he continues to attack me (with the destroyed canister mind you). Makes it harder to take them down :( I'm on a lvl 25 Enhancement Shaman.

As of current, I am lvl 26 and struggling. My armour is broken because of all of the times i've died; they have a very strong DoT effect, not to mention having to do loads of damage on the canister, then even more on the orc. This quest is too hard

As a rogue, sap doesn't work against the incinerators (also tried the canisters for science, no dice). Fortunately their movement patterns are predictable.

I still found this to be a hellish quest which took a long time to complete.

According to the quest chain I didn't need to complete this, only the adjacent quest where you set the boxes on fire. So I guess it's my own fault.

As of March 1, 2014 they drop NOTHING. Nada! Zip. Nil. I am a level 26 elf mage, and just killed 10 of them. I got nothing but silver. Maybe I was bugged, but that is what happened. BTW, be sure to do the Oil Canisters as instructed. I only died once and that is when I did not do the Canister. I think they have nerfed it given the older comments here. My armor is cloth, that is, it is not much. Killing them was no harder for me than killing the non-elite Gnomish Engineers in Ashenvale.

If you want to be hardcore, go rebel style and kill the orcs themselves, screw the canisters.

I've already got one down.

They have 4k health and hit around 55 per hit....lol.

killing these dudes the way the quest suggests doesn't give credit. u need to kill them directly, but luckily they dont deal that much damage so they should go down pretty easily

Use your other attacks to get the canister health down and then autoattack it to 0 for the kills to register.

Slay 10 Krom'gar Incinerators.

Description

Enter Stonetalon Mountains through Talondeep Pass and head towards the smoldering trees. Seek out the Krom'gar incinerators that are destroying the forest and slay as many as you can! Be warned, the incinerators are powerful orcs. Attacking them through conventional means will likely result in your death. Destroy the oil canisters on their backs and they will be devoured by flame!

Report to Sentinel Heliana at Windshear Mine should you succeed. She will have your new orders.
