This is the starting quest in order to forge Shadowmourne. It's given by Darion Mograine, and there's already 3 quests that i think are related : this quest gets you Shadow's Edge. You then 'll have to expose that axe to three infusions, getting yourself then ( i suppose ) a stronger version of Shadow's Edge. The final step needs you to take a shard from Frostmourne : the skull on Frostmourne's hilt can be seen on the current model of Shadowmourne. I think that's the way it's going to happen.

This is a part of the questchain to obtain Shadowmourne, a legendary twohanded axe. It will also be interesting to see how the Primordinal Saronite will be handled in guilds, as it will be needed both for this chain and for a lot of nice crafted epics.

First of all it was said this axe will be for plate dps, so why anyone else but plate wearers would do this quest is beyond me. Really.

Actually I can imagine most guilds that will be getting the most of these hording them driving the cost up even more. So unless you can buy these with emblems right off the bat expect supply to be extremely limited and demand to be HUGE.

Any-dang-way...

Basically, when you go in the Frostmourne Cave to grab Light's Vengeance as part of the Shadowmourne chain, the Lich King shows up and taunts you that you really thought it would be that easy, fills the cave (seriously, theres TONNES of them packed in) with weak zombies (not CoS weak, but weaker than basic NR mobs) and a shielded, elite Vrykul in the middle who will resummon any dead zombies. Light's Vengeance will be thrown to the side, and it takes 8 seconds to loot it - WITHOUT BEING HIT. Use whatever tricks you can - bubble, AotD, whatever, to keep the zombies away from you while you loot it. After this, it flys up in a big bubble of light and flys around the room, spitting balls of light to smash the zombies, before finally nuking the Vrykul and dropping down. Now loot it and claim your prize!...

Or not. 10 seconds ago was merely a setback, and the Vrykul comes back as an elite skeleton! Hes not really all that tough to be honest, if you're in the position to get this weapon you can kill him - just don't pick up that hammer with 100hp left or you'll scream! After this, there is FINALLY nothing left and you can claim your prize :D

Just in case nobody made the math, if you wish to obtain all the primordial saronites by buying them with emblems of frost, you'll need the staggering amount of 575 (25 x 23) emblems.

Now, to calculate the rate of emblems:

Echoes of Tortured Souls + Deliverance form the Pit + Wrath of the Lich King = 6 emblems

One week of raiding, taking in acount that the only the first 4 bosses are avainable for the first 4 weeks and they each give two emblems:

ICC - 8 emblems 10-man and 8 emblems 25-man
Weekly raid quest - 5 emblems
7 daily random heroic dungeons - 14 emblems
total - 35 emblems

4x35=140 + 6 = 146 so far.

Now, including the next month in which the "Plague Quarter" will be introduced in the next 2 weeks, then the other 2 wings for a total of 6 weeks, and assuming there are 8 bosses in all the wings. Also assuming the drop of 2 emblems per boss.

ICC - 14 / 18 / 24 (double if you can do 10 and 25 man)
Rest is the same

4x14+4x18+24x4+19x6=338 emblems

Adding the 146 emblems from last 4 weeks = 484 emblems

So far, until the 12th week you have 484 emblems. That leaves 91 emblems to go.

Making calculations, if you do ICC complete on 10 and 25 man and do the weekly and daily random heroic, you'll get 67 emblems per week

So you'll need 2 extra weeks to get the remaining badges.

Making a full total of 12 weeks, or 3 months. 3 months of mindless grinding and perfect boss kills. Luckly, like Santee and darkelfpoet have stated, there are more ways to get the 25 primordial saronite that you need.

I'd like for someone to share basic info for those of us who don't know.

Specifically:

Where do you get the starting quest for this chain. ICC is pretty broad spectrum, as there are 4 or 5 instances.

Which ways if any, do you all find are the most efficient means to raise ones rep?

Started this quest yesterday. I am a fury warrior and i had no problems looting obtaining Light's Vengeance, without any help.

The boss keeps summoning new ghouls as you kill them, so you have swiftly kill a few and use the object fast before you get hit by new ghouls. The ghouls themselves hit for almost nothing (70 - 100 damage) and they die in 1 or 2 hits.

The hammer will then fly around and nuke the ghouls before settling down. When you try to loot it again, the boss digs himself up from the ground and you kill it. Done!

Easy soloable for a (fury) warrior, so paladins and death knights will only have to blink at stuff in order to kill it (shameless QQ!)

Picked up the quest in the 10 man as soon as i hit friendly (will take forever to get, but my pally has ret as an offspec...just want shadows' edge, not legendary). Soloed the first part to get the hammer as holy....no problems whatsoever.

I got the quest yesterday....went to the cave.....got the hammer! Solo no problem for my DK, alot of stuns off the ghouls but was able to fight thru them and then kill the boss.....make sure u regen health after the ghoul fight, so your at 100% before you reach for the hammer! The boss can kill you fast if you are not ready.

having alot of alts is a blessing, at a rate of 1 primordial per char per about 9 days (9x2+5=23) if i do the daily HC every day and the weekly raid every week I can get the needed 25 ps in (25x9/3=) 75 days, and this is without counting the times i'll be able to raid ICC

It seems to me that the Lich King actually wants you to succeed in this task, as he summons such weak foes against you when you go to retrieve Light's Vengeance, though only so that when he turns you into an undead minion you'll be more useful.

Note: Accepting this quest with intents to get Shadow's Edge without help by the time the next bosses come out seems to cause a strange burning effect to your character's leggings, specifically the area toward the top of the thigh. I learned the hard way when i found myself reaching deep into my Penny Pouch to buy the last Primordial Saronite needed. 3 More days now and that thing is mine. =D

The bloods looting protocols were changed after the first night of the 2nd wing's release. If master looter is set during the raid, the master looter gives out the bloods, they cannot just be looted by the person with the quest or mistakenly auto-looted by the wrong person.

The Acidic Bloods have a 100% drop rate as long as someone has the quest. However, there is only one blood per abomination per week. The master looter (should you have one) is able to designate who gets the blood. I got mine both on the same night. Good luck!

This quest is only available to Death Knights, Warriors, and Paladins. You also have to be at a Friendly Status with the Ashen Verdict.

I love that after spending over 12 000 gold and over 200 emblems of frost across 3 characters, one of which i migrated from alliance to horde and from another server to my main server for €50 I got the incredible amount of 16 gold for turning this quest in <3

if your a dk!

as soon as your free from the Litch Kings grasp and out of stun agro the mob around the hammer and use your army of the dead to divert the threat then click on the hammer lotting it this will kill all the zombies. the hammer will then end up in the middle of the room when u try to loot it the boss will appear. quickly use anti magic shield and spam death strike for an easy kill. pop anti magic zone and gargoyle if your unholy, spam death strike you cant lose.

Well now that u can earn 2 frosts from daily heroics then the 2 from the icc bosses now that makes about 14 from the heroics each week and then depending if u get a run all the way through on ICC thats one primoprdial saronite a week so 25 weeks if u just use emblems unless of course u buy em then thats a big difference in time.

Srry i messed up my math u can earn a little over 1 saronite a week so that equates to 23 weeks if u just do emblems SRRY!

funny how no one has mentioned the 4 frost from 10/25 voa and the weekly bringing total non-icc frost per week to 23/week w/o icc and now (oh joy) that ruby sanctum is out thats another 5 plus the 24/week from each difficulty of icc (assuming full clear) + the 5 from the raid quests makes almost 4 primordials per week per toon. also, lets be realistic on my server at least its not unreasonable to get a primordial for less than 600 which is what, a few days of dailys? nevermind i've gotten guildies and friends to part with them for as low as 300 (400 more usual though)

NERF ALERT!
It no longer takes 8 seconds to loot the hammer. I just did it and it only took 2 seconds. The trash spawns and moves slowly, so any 85 with a decent AoE can clear the immediate area quickly and have plenty of time to loot the hammer. Then, the hammer will float up and back to the elite in the center of the cavern, the trash will despawn, and you will have to defeat the elite (not too hard) before you can loot the hammer for real from the ground.

Okey so this is how i did on My level 80 dk. I had a level 90 help me To get friendly. We killed all mobs untill we came to the first boss. Without killing the boss we went out of the instance and resetted it. We did this few Times and when there was only little rep left we killed the two first bosses. I picked upp the quest and headed straight to dragonblight. There's a cave in the top right. Kill the mods there and klick on the weapon a few times. Then kill an elite. Its pretty easy. And to get the 's i ligger on My main and did some bgs. And then i converted the honor to justice and entred icc and bought all the 's
After this i got a raid group for icc 25 hc and got the other two quest items. All on one day

Light's Vengeance can be looted in a cave in Dragonblight. Coords: 74,4 ; 23,5. For those without coords, it's the Scarlet Point in the northeastern corner of the zone.

Does anyone know if the quest is working for them?

I have all the mats except the mace itself.
Have tried walking in solo, party of 2, raid of 2 set to 10 man, raid of 2 set to 25 man and I'm not seeing the Elune light like so many other videos do.

When I walk in, the revenants despawn and nothing is around me nor does the mace appear.

Anyone have any handy hints to share about this? Have tried this on 3 seperate days now. The two raid/party members are level 90.

UPDATE: It seems to be fixed now, got the mace yesterday (2nd July).

I can confirm that there is a currently a bug that will sometimes cause the Light's Vengeance to not spawn when you enter the cave. There are multiple reports of this on the bug forum. It is likely something to do with CRZ.

There are two possible work-arounds:
1) Visit the cave right after server maintenance / restart.
2) While standing inside the cave, have a friend invite you to a different server so that you phase into their server.

I used method number 2 to successfully get my Light’s Vengeance.

As of 6.0.2 Light's Vengeance had disappeared from my bags. After panicking for a bit, I learned that it is now one of those quest items that no longer take up bag space. So even though it disappeared from my bank I was still able to turn in the quest with the other materials.

Did This quest up til the Blood wing section of the chain:

Two parts gave me a problem so far and here is how I resolved it (Paladin):

Problem #1: Festergut Bloat

Go retribution
DPS Hard and keep yourself topped off health wise as much as you can
When you get 9 stacks of bloat, use Divine Shield
Continue to burn as fast as possible
Near the end, you start taking a tonne of damage, so make sure you keep censure up and dps while trying to heal yourself.
I was at ~20% HP when he died, and previous failures told me to use Harsh Words for the 3% damage boost and I think it helped quite a bit. Used it at 5 holy power, then judge and pop wings, hammer of wrath and rotation for dps as much as possible using the buff with Word of Glory while wings is active.

Problem #2: Putricide

My issue was the reset, and handling the damage incoming while transformed. My friend was on his tank warrior (also 90) and offered to help. It goes WAY faster if you have another 'tank', or someone who can take the beating like another ret paladin or something.

They tank boss, get 3 or 4 slime pools on the ground
Go get the potion to transform yourself
repeatedly tap 1 on the pools to 'drink' and gain your 100 energy
when you do, the shadowmourne icon ability will light up so you can use it
my UI didn't show it, but once it's done, burn the boss, using the action for attacking, #3
When the boss hits phase 3, you will be kicked out of the abomination suit, and then you can just go to town and burn him. You have 6 minutes which is EASY with two people.

While I am sure that it's possible to kill Putricide solo, the time I would have spent didn't make sense and so I am glad I did it this way. I might try the warlock/druid soulstone + brez tactic for the blood part.

Would like to note that with the disappearance of Justice/Valor points, Primordial Saronite can be purchased from vendors for 150g.

Don't be like me and farm ICC25 for an extra month to get the saronites. :|

Couple of things if you are revisiting this quest at higher levels to complete.

1) I went to loot Light's Vengeance but the cave was full of undead mobs and a shielded boss - If you are also having trouble looting Light's Vengeance go to the cave stand just inside so you can see the undead (phased in) and use Custom Group Finder to join a WoD appexis daily - hopefully you will get phased to a different server and be able to loot and play out the scene.

2) Dont farm the Primordial Saronite you can buy it for 150g each from the vendor just inside - HOWEVER you need all 25 in your inventory and not a mix of bag and bank - even though it shows you have all 25 ore you cannot hand in.

Who can Obtain this Quest?

Note: Specilization does not matter at all!

IMPORTANT: Only **one Quest part require a Group of least 4 players to success complete.

Exeption: If you got a Shaman (Reincarnate), or Druid for (Rebirth) that can res himself/others for a second bite.
Warning: Attempting this tactic require that you already are low HP (fast death) and have not been mind controlled.
(Then you will only need in total 3 players) = 1x Quest holder + 2x victims.

Introduction (Tips)

25x Primordial Saronite (Sold in Dalaran) Total Gold-Price: 3000 G.
Dragonblight (Cave Quest) - Light's Vengeance

Note: These items must be in Inventory to complete the quest.

Dragonblight Quest:

Fight your way through alot of Ghouls.
Click the Light's Hammer.
Lich King Shows up and taunts you (RP).
Stand so you will not be hit while clicking on the Hammer, takes 8 seconds.
Once completed cast, a Ball of light shows and kill all weak ghouls and finally the Vrakyl.
Click the Light's Hammer, the Vrakyl revives as Elite skeleton, kill it.
Click Again on Light's Hammer, loot your Light's Vengeance.
Your done.

Note: As soon you obtained the quest - Leave ICC get the "Light's Vengeance",
Visit Dalaran Alliance/Horde Quarter and buy the saronite to save time.

How do i obtain the Quest?

Set to 25 man Raid. Icecrown Citadel
Clear Trash in Second and Third room until reach Friendly with The Ashen Verdict, (Before boss).
You may need to do Three Resets to obtain this reputation (2x runs with Guild Banner or Darkmoon Rep Buff).
Once you are Friendly, Speak to Highlord Darion Mograine inside ICC Raid to Obtain the quest.

- Do not kill any BOSS before you obtained the Quest.

Quest Part ONE: A Feast of Souls

Equip Shadows Edge.
Kill all Enemies up toward the First and Second Boss and up toward Putricide.
This should given your Shadows Edge 50 souls by now, If not clear trash before Blood Queen (pre-boss).

Quest Part TWO: Unholy Infusion
Recommended two players.

Wait until the room got 3 to 4 pools of slime in the room before interact with the TABLE to transform.
Use the buttom to "Eat" the Green pools on the floor.
Use the last buttom on your Action Bar to Infuse Shadows Edge.
make sure you complete the cast (in the transformation form) before killing boss.

Quest Part THREE: **Blood Infusion
(Require 3-4 man minimum) "Quest holder as first Vampire"

Alt #1: You bring 4 people, First vampire bite the quest holder and dies, (hopefully before the debuff reach 0 sec).
Alt #2: You bring 3 people, one class with Reincarnate (shaman) or Combat Res (death knight, druid, warlock, (BM Hunter)).

(Bite the guy you can ressurect/reincarnate first so they can quickly die > revive).

# This will take around 5 min to do.

Stand next to tank (for a second) to share Blood Mirror, This will apply Gushing Wound.
This debuff will be consumed after 3 Stacks (when you bitten 3 players).
Bring boss to 30% or 50% HP.
Make sure NONE else except Quest Holder is using his "bite" on players.
When 3x Gushing Wound Been consumed = Kill the boss.

Note: Kill Mind-controlled players (they still count toward quest) - if they been bitten!
Note: Gushing Wound Is applied when the "Vampire" Bite a new Player.

Quest Part FOUR: Frost Infusion

Stand infront of Sindragosa.
Subject yourself to FOUR breath Attacks (debuffs), as you are holding Shadows Edge.
Kill Sindragosa.

Quest Part FIVE: The Splintered Throne

Raid Icecrown Citadel as 25 man, Each boss have a chance to give Shadowfrost Shards.
This may take between FIVE to SEVEN weeks to complete (based on luck).

Note: you do not need Shadows Edge equiped while killing bosses (only your inventory).

Quest Part FINAL: The Lich Kings Last Stand

Nuke down boss to 10% when he starts the 2 min Roleplay (chatter).
Swap to Shadowmourne.
IMPORTANT = Deliver the final killing Blow with Shadowmourne.
Congratulations you Completed the Quest chain, And obtained your .

I have gone to the cave and when I entered the cave the undead were already there. Most importantly the hammer was not there. If anyone could shed some light on my problem (no pun intended) I would really appreciate it

For anyone having a trouble starting the event to get Light's Vengeance realm hop onto another server (through premade groups (there's usually few garrison trader groups so join one)) and the event starts.

By the way for anyone having problems with Light's Vengeance, if you see Vegard the Unforgiven but cannot see Light's Vengeance this is a bug, most likely because someone else triggered the event but didn't use Light's Vengeance, there is a very simple fix however, simply move to another realm through LFG or with the help of a friend, if it's not bugged on the other realm the event will trigger as it is supposed to, I believe simply waiting will also do the trick, but it might take several hours for all I know lol.

Wondering why Darion isn't offering the quest? Came here to find out? You need to be friendly with the Ashen Verdict. Kill the trash up to Marrogar (But NOT Marrogar) and then reset. Should take 3 - 4 resets and you will be friendly then you can get the quest.

I don't know if any others who have had this issue, but I guess I should just say this.

If you have this quest and then use Blizzard's boost services to take yourself up to level 100 or 90, then you may just find that you have to start this quest again, and so you probably won't get Light's Vengeance through the mail if it was in your inventory, but the game thinks you still have it.

If this does happen to you, just abandon the quest and then go back to get it. The acidic bloods both stay as they don't count as actual quest items.

Just putting this out there for anybody who wants to use the boost services.

This will be your first step towards the famous Shadowmourne weapon.
This quest chain is not that long, but it will take you a few resets anyway.

To begin this quest chain, remember that you will need specific class only to begin.
Those classes are Death Knight, Paladin and Warrior.
Then you will need reputation status with The Ashen Verdict to be atleast Friendly.
Once you hit Friendly Highlord Darion Mograine will offer you a quest.
This quest will require from you to collect following items:

Light's Vengeance (can be found at 74, 23 in Dragonblight)
Festergut's Acidic Blood (ICC 25M boss drop)

Light's Vengeance

To acquire Light's Vengeance you will have to complete some type of event where you will just have to kill bunch of low-level mobs. Its pretty easy and one-shot thingy these days.

As you get to 74, 23 in Dragonblight enter cave.

In the cave you will find hammer that is stuck in the ground. Go near him and The Lich King appears. He will have some speech and then the hammer will be knocked at the right side of the cave from where you enter. Then a bunch of mobs will spawn so just make your way towards the hammer and right-click on it.

The hammer will then start levitating and land near its previous place. Then a mob, some sort of boss, will spawn. So just kill it and right-click on the hammer and its yours :)

Festergut's and Rotface's Acid blood

This is pretty easy to acquire these days. Just kill the boss. BUT REMEMBER! This item only drops in Icecrown Citadel on 25-man normal or Heroic difficulty. So it does NOT drop on any 10-man difficulty.

If you plan to get your friend to do this, remember that only 1 person can have this item (and it drops only if you have this quest). It have 100% drop chance.

25x Primordial Saronite

You can get this item from Auction House (that is the fastest and easiest way to get this). Or, if you want to know another ways how to obtain it, you can farm them in Icecrown Citadel. It drops from every boss there and have about 18% drop chance.

Remember that this items drops only on 10-man Heroic and 25-man Normal and Heroic difficulty. Drop chance is a little higher if you farm it on higher difficullty.

Another method to get these items is purchasing them from one of these three vendors. The closest one, according to instance, is Goodman the "Closer". They sell 1 Primordial Saronite for 150 golds (that is 3750 golds for 25). But I'd suggest you to look on AH prices before buying these from vendors :)

Once you acquire these items, turn in your quest and Highlord Darion Mograine will offer you Shadow's Edge.

Quest seems to be horribly bugged currently. When I tried to enter the cave for Light's Vengeance, there was nothing there - I was in instanced Dragonblight with NOTHING in it. After few minutes I've been ported out of dragonblight with message "Transfer aborted: instance not found" or something simmilar.
After few tries I managed to get the event started (I've got stunned, some Lich King texts appeared, but not him himself) and then I've got kicked from server and I am unable to log in onto my character (other ones work though).

This quest starts from Highlord Darion Mograine - NOT Highlord Tirion Fordring.

If you have low level quests turned off, then you may not notice it. To find him, you can type /tar Highlord Darion Mograine. He is found in the area to the LEFT after you first come in.

To be eligible for the quest you must be:

- A paladin, death knight, or warrior
- At least friendly with the Ashen Verdict

The quest can be picked up in either ICC 10-man or 25-man, but the requirements are obtained from ICC 25-man only.

Thought I'd share a guide with what I've learned while farming for Shadowmourne at level 80.

The Sacred and the Corrupt

To get friendly rank with The Ashen Verdict, you need to kill all the trash and bosses up to and including Deathbringer Saurfang (you don't have to kill all the trash around the outer spire to get to the gunship).
25 Primordial Saronite are today quite cheap and can be bought off the AH without much gold spent.
Next, if you kill only Festergut and Rotface for the bloods while leaving the other bosses and trash up, you can do the next quest which requires you to kill 50 enemies and every Infusion quest plus have a chance for one Shadowfrost Shard from The Lich King in one lockout. This minimizes the time you have to spend to finish Shadowmourne slightly.

A Feast of Souls

There are more than enough trash and bosses to get this quest done in your current lockout you used to collect the reputation and bloods. If you killed the trash to get to Festergut and Rotface, don't worry, there are about 70-80 more enemies in the frost and blood quarters. Kill only the Blood Council among bosses.
The debuff on enemies which marks them to be consumed and counted for the quest will not be applied if you one shot trash. You must therefore remove all your gear except for Shadow's Edge, and use your lowest damaging abilities such as Death and Decay, or Consecration, so that the actual debuff on the trash is applied and so that you can gain progress towards completing the quest.

Unholy Infusion

Assemble a group with 2-3 more people (if you have 2 party members instead of 3, at least one of them need to have a combat ress). Personally I recommend to bring a (low level if possible) Warlock, I will explain why in the Blood Infusion section.
Tell your group to not damage the boss, they should only keep the aggro from you.
Before you click the table to become an abomination, wait until 4 of the slime pools have spawned. This is because the abomination's Mutated Transformation damage either ticks a percentage of the player's health, or it scales with the level of the player that use the table. It will easily kill lower level players, and can actually kill a level 80 as well.
Click the table to become an abomination.
Use the number 3 ability on your new actionbar to consume the slime pools when they spawn.
If the ability on your new actionbar is grey, move on to a new slime pool and it will be usable again.
When your energy bar to the right has reached 100, click the Shadow's Edge icon. When the cast is completed you are given a new buff and you can now kill the boss. To make the giant die, you may need to stand in the slime pools. You can also be dispelled by a Priest or Paladin due to the disease debuff which will remove the abomination.

Blood Infusion

This quest is why you need to have at least 2 or 3 more players in order to complete it. To prevent one-shotting the boss, remove all your gear except for Shadow's Edge and a few armor pieces, only so that you can kill the mind controlled people later, do not use any trinkets that has AoE procs or they can one-shot the boss.
Tell the other players to remove all their gear as well so that you and another player can kill them when they get mind controlled. Make sure that you do not use any AoE abilities while killing mind controlled people, or you can kill the boss. Tell your group to once again not to damage the boss and not to bite anyone, just let their timer expire and that they should become mind controlled after 1 minute.
Having at least one Warlock in the group allows them to use Burning Rush and lose health and be near death until they become mind controlled, then it's easier for you and the others in the group to kill the Warlock(s).
You start with for example one Death and Decay or Consecration so that you get the aggro, kite her out of it so that you don't kill her. After a short time you get the debuff which increases your damage and makes you able to bite other players. After 1 minute click the only ability on your new action bar while targeting a player to bite them.
When a player dies after you kill them, combat ress them if possible.
Bite non-bitten players 3 times and then kill the boss.

Frost Infusion

From now on you do not need the help from other players to finish any more quests for Shadowmourne, the rest is done solo.
As easy as the quest description says, simply stand in front of Sindragosa after four breaths have been soaked. Once the stacking debuff goes away you can kill the boss.

The Splintered Throne

This is the part of the Shadowmourne quest line which is the most drawn out. You simply kill all the Icecrown Citadel bosses every week in 25 man Normal or 25 man Heroic until you have collected 50 Shadowfrost Shard. If you saved The Lich King in your first lockout, you have a chance to get one additional shard. The drop chance for Shadowfrost Shards are higher in 25 player Heroic than in 25 player normal.

The Lich King's Last Stand

Kill The Lich King to get a Sealed Chest. Turn it in at Darion and you are given 5 items you can turn in to various NPCs at starting area to the raid.
You will be rewarded with: Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger, Tabard of the Lightbringer, Muradin's Favor, Sylvanas' Music Box and Jaina's Locket.

In BFA, a lot of people are having trouble zoning into the cave to get Light's Vengeance.
The workaround that worked for me was to have a lower level toon (I did it with a ~110 Demon Hunter, different realm) enter the cave first, and then invite you to their group. If it worked, you should see the hammer glowing on the mound in the middle of the room.

8.3, my Ret Pally walked into the cave no problem and the hammer was there. No need to turn WM on or have an alt phase into it. I just killed some of the ghouls, saw the hammer, clicked it, fought the dude in the middle and badabing badaboom I have Light's Vengeance

So I have a level 50 DK that is currently honoured with The Ashen Verdict.. I've been to ICC Raid and spoken to Darion Mograine, but there was no quest available to me. Is that because I'm too low level or that I'm missing an item? I think I may have deleted the quest from my quest log a while back, is that the issue?

The hammer wasn't there for me, nor was it there when I left, turned on war mode, then returned. It's just the vrykul and his zombie friends. I'll have to try again later.

For those having issues in obtaining Light's Vengence, you're going to have to submit a ticket. I attempted this quest on four different toons, and only two were able to get Light's Vengence. I tried all the tricks suggested here, but no luck. After submitting a ticket, it was mailed to my affected toons.

As others have stated if the hammer isn't there you will need to submit a ticket. It wasn't there for me, submitted a ticket, got the automated reply, replied back that it is not there and have been reported by others and on the second reply I got Light's Hammer in my mail.

So again just submit a ticket. Only had to wait less then a day for a response and resolution.

October 1, 2023 issue still unresolved, but easy fix: kept zoning in for the past week to seeing no Lights Vengeance and just lots of ghouls in the cave. Reset didn't help, joining groups with other servers didn't help, party sync, nothing. All I had to do was switch to Chromie time for Lich King, and all better I could finally complete the quest. Not an easy faceroll since all the ghouls and the elite are now my level, but if you aren't max level doing this, just pop on Timewalking LK and it'll work.

If you're 0/3000, you can reset and kill the first boss's trash at about 750 rep a round to get the quest before killing any bosses, but killing up to Festergut and Rotface ended me at around 4000 rep.

Jan 2024 - My wife and I are both playing Paladin's doing the quest 'The Sacred and the Corrupt' We had acquired all the quest items and proceeded to the location in Frostmourne Cavern to collect Light's Vengeance. We had absolutely no problem doing this part and when it was ready to pickup, we both clicked on it and got the text 'You receive loot: ' but we never received the item in our bags. I logged a ticket and GM's have attempted to mail us the item but it does not give us the item it just completes the quest requirement with the hammer icon having the text 'Light's Vengeance' Quest Item in white underneath.

The response from the last GM is oh well, log a bug report that will really help.... Ticket closed. Sigh.

Current status is that the quest is ready to hand in, theres a big ? above the place in ICC to hand it in but I'm concerned if i do without ACTUALLY having Light's Vengeance in our bags that we will lose not only the quest items but the 25 Primordial Saronite as well. That said they are cheapish now and we can always get the Acidic Bloods again....

EDIT: Handed it it, quest completed fine and I then was able to pickup the next quest 'A Feast of Souls' and Shadow's Edge is in my bag.... yay
