I was looking through the pet journal, saw this and immediately wanted one. For years I wish I could tame one with a hunter and if I can manage to find this pet, then it'll be a pet I'll proudly display everywhere I go!

Sadly it seems I have to wait til Summer. :\

Can be found at the Scarab Wall outside Ahn'qiraj in Silithus. They are one of the seasonal-dependent battle pet spawns, and spawn only during the northern hemisphere's summer, so around late June to late September.

The unfortunate thing about this being a summer-only pet is that the expansion - and pet battles with it - is released one week after the end of summer.

Guess whether you want this pet or no, the Zookeeper title will be unobtainable for ~~nine~~ some number of months.

So a quick update, as there is confusion regarding both this pet and the Snowy Owl. The Owl is a direct counterpart to the Qiraji Guardling and it spawned from November to February. Despite the fact that several GMs claimed this was a bug, and because of the fact that no blue has to-date come out and said in a straight forward way what "summer" and "winter" mean in terms of these pets , it is reasonable to guess we'll be seeing these pets spawn between May and August. In other words, like the Owl, spawning about a month and a half before summer begins, and ending bizarrely a half a month before the real summer actually ends.

ETA: Keep in mind, nothing is confirmed until the day this actually spawns. I don't care what a GM tells you about it; GMs have given six different answers and are unlikely to know any more than we do. Personally, I plan to check on the first of May, not June, and recommend you all do the same.

ETA²: Thanks to Lentesh below I found Mumper's tweets regarding the seasonal pets. He's still quite vague but it sounds now like the Qiraji Guardling will be going to a Summer Solstice to Autumnal Equinox schedule. I'm still going to check it out on May 1st, but it's sounding now like we're going to have to wait for June 21st after all :(

ETA³: Final edit, as many of you know the Qiraji Guardling is finally in game. As Mumper suggested, it was added on the 21st of June . Although it was a rare spawn when it first went live, a hotfix went live on the 24th of June ensuring that they would be much easier to find. On a personal note, when I went down there, there were a good dozen or so to choose from, so it seems as though the hotfix did the trick. Happy hunting, everyone!

Summer is March 20th to September 23rd. It syncs up with the Summer SOLSTICE.
In WoW terms; if you can catch Raw Summer Bass then you can get this little guy.

Looks to be one of three humanoid pets that are captured via pet battle. If this one doesn't appeal, then you also have Sporeling Sprout or Flayer Youngling, neither of which are limited to the Summer season, to meet the requirements for Family Reunion.

As a trivial note: They used this model for some of the Mantid mobs in Beta (haven't got to the right place to see what they look like now).

I always thought they looked like insectile versions of harpies.

During beta, they were also spawning south of the wall in the Ahn'Qiraj sub-zone.
The best part about that is pets south of the wall only spawn as singles. They don't bring any friends, easier to capture.
When Summer finally rolls around again.

What makes this being currently unobtainable even worse is that it's one of three creatures that you can get via in-game methods that has Reckless Strike, which is a very, very good flying move. And one of the other two creatures, the Tirisfal Batling, is uncommon rarity. So effectively, if you want to have different creatures with Reckless Strike (perhaps for levelling alts in Vale of Eternal Blossoms), you need to settle for the uncommon Tirisfal Batling. If you want to have two rare pets with Reckless Strike, you pretty much either have to have a pet obtained previously/outside the game, or go with two Bats.

While I'm fortunate enough to have a Vampiric Batling, I don't envy anyone who has to make that choice.

Can anyone confirm the exact time when this things will appear?

Since their winter counterpart -Snowy Owl- Started appearing exactly on 12 am server time on november first, this pet might have a similar spawn schedule.

Already on ticket, will update if GM's provide usefull information.

Hey hiltzster I just wanted to point out that the Summer Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere is in June, not March. It is in December for the Southern Hemisphere. Look for this pet around June 20th.

Pops up only during summer, and is not obtainable until next summer due to expansion release. Is also a requirement for like two or three acheivements. This is going to get ugly.

All information about when this pet will be available is speculation, because we haven't had a summer since the expansion was actually released. It may be available:

Weather summer - June, July, and August
Calendar summer - summer solstice (June 21) to autumnal equinox (September 22)
Holiday summer - Memorial Day (May 27) to Labor Day (September 2)
WoW fishing summer - vernal equinox (March 20) to autumnal equinox (September 22), like the Raw Summer Bass

This last one seems the most likely to me because it's the one based on something that happens in the game, but again, I'm just speculating. And all of these assume the Northern Hemisphere, although that's a safe bet for North American servers at least. We will know when someone actually sees one.

Edit: Turns out it was the summer solstice (June 21)! Presumably it will disappear on the autumnal equinox (September 22) because it wasn't up when Mists launched on September 25, 2012. However given the fits and starts with the Snowy Owl that could have been in error, so...it's still just speculation. We will know when they disappear.

Judging by the lack of Snowy Owls as I'm searching for them in Winterspring AND by the comments in the entry for Snowy Owl, Blizzard defined "Winter" arbitrarily for that battle pet as November 1st through Feb 28th. (...despite that not matching any of their other definitions of winter, nor any standard definition of winter. Good jorb, Blizz.)

So I imagine that Qiraji Guardling will show up May 1st through Aug 31st, keeping a four month window that doesn't match any definition of "Summer" anywhere in-game or out.

Since I jumped to AQ very soon after the server came up and I couldn't find any Qiraji Guardling I battled all other random BattlePets in the area. Still no Guardling, so I wrote a GM ticket.
The Gamemaster told me, that spring started in WoW in February and Summer will not start before June. I asked if he is 100% sure about the information he was giving and he answered that he can only say so much, because it would be unfair to other players if he would give me more information. -.-

Ok, i contacted a GM, too. Granted, it was about the snowy owl, at march 19, asking him if summer starts(and winters ends) march 20(as it is for the fishing thingies, and since wow has only two seasons) and basically, he told me that he couldn't disclose that information about seasonal pets cause it's a "game hint" as he called it, but he did say that the seasons in wow regarding these pets (snowy owl, qiraji guardling) are similar to the real life seasons. that's it.

So, since no qiraji guardlings have appeared, i'm guessing that, indeed, winter ends last day of february and summer starts first day of june.

Having said that, happy hunting, people. I'll still check every now and then if they are up.
After all, there was a bug with snowy owl, so, never know.

I was speaking with GM today about this pet, he told me something like this:

"The summer pets will spawn at the 1st of june, so they are little different to the summer fishs :)"

This is horribly annoying. Just add the damm pet allready. Why do we have to wait 8+ months just to get this one last pet. It completely sours the fun process of achieving "zookeeper". Lets spend a few weeks collecting all these pets...AND THEN WAIT 8 MONTHS TO GET THE VERY LAST ONE. Terrible desicion making..Then they have to be vauge about when the stupid seasons "really'' are...I have an idea..Add the pet during maintenece on Tuesday. They owe it to all the players who put in the time for this achiev and title and have been waiting around in confusion.

CONFIRMED SIGHTINGS - June 21 from midnight

The spawn rate has been hotfixed (24 June 2013)

Qiraji Guardling's spawn rate has been greatly increased

You can find them on either side of the Scarab Wall all the way up to the portals. On the beta, they spawned as single pets but be prepared to battle three on live. ~~Be aware that not all pets spawning in this area will be a Guardling. You'll see a lot of sidewinders and scarabs as well.~~ The Guardling only seems to appear as a primary pet though.

Just don't be greedy and kill off any which aren't rare, especially if others are trying to get one. I popped a stone on mine just for this moment. You can always go back later once the hype has died down especially when you have three months to do so.

After capturing one on the beta, I was excited about finally adding one of these to my collection as it's the last one many of us need for our Kalimdor Safari achievements. Many speculated that the pet would start appearing after Mar 20 - the end of Winter (for fishing up a Winter Squid) but it seemed odd that Summer would follow straight after Winter.

In response to my tweet, this morning (21 Mar 2013), Mumper confirmed that the Qiraji Guardling will not appear in-game for another few months.

The Qiraji Guardling will be available in the summertime. Still, a few months to go.

This goes to show that the Summer Bass and Winter Squid follow different seasons for the pets.

He then went into further detail (22 Mar 2013):

Seasonal pets will follow the pre-existing seasons starting in patch 5.3. Note that the existing fish are available for spring/summer and fall/winter. The pets are available only in the Summer and Winter seasons so the dates are not the exact same.

The date has now been confirmed by Mumper (02 May 2013)

The Qiraji Guardling will spawn on the 1st day of summer - June 21st.

So, the unique seasonal pet spawns align more with "real" seasons. Ignore the seasonal fish spawns because they span multiple seasons!

WoW seasons aren't a science, the Snowy Owl stopped spawning before the end of Winter, so we just need to learn the precise dates once we experience the spawns. We'll learn the precise dates of the Guardling soon enough! For now, we wait until Summer... probably June. :)

Hotfix it in...It's been long enough. Pretty ridiculous one tiny pet gets it's own season and makes thousands of players wait an eternity for it alone..How can a game that's been out this long and have the success it does have these type of oversights? To busy counting money I presume..

I swear one of the main requirements to playing this game is some form of OCD. Yes you have to wait awhile to get this guy, but it's ok. The world won't end :-)

We've seen two patches drop already since the launch of Mist of Pandaria expansion with brand new pets to capture but yet they make us wait over 8 months for one single pet to spawn so we can gain a title that has taunted us since the expansion launched back in September....it just seems counter-intuitive to make such an effort to release patches before players have time to get bored with old content but then make us wait forever for one single battle pet...wise up Blizzard!

I wish people were not so quick to blame Blizzard for everything. They are running a game. A game they want people to enjoy, yes, but also continue to pay and play. This achievement does just that. There are a certain percentage of people that are obsessed with achievements like myself, then even if the current raids and dungeons are not hold my interest, I can always take comfort in completing another achievement. They did not do anything out of malice, but business. Cut them some slack. They never said you had to stick around to get this achievement, you decided that. I feel most of you would have been playing anyway, so honestly, what did you really lose?

I've had 3 GM's tell me they unfortunately cannot give us any information on when this battle pet will spawn at the moment but they did say Blizzard will certainly inform the public right before it comes out. I think we can all stop camping for the time being. I believe we will know when it will be available, we just have to wait. Wait...wait..wait. We will get through this, we are World of Warcraft players, we've been waiting and have been at the mercy of Blizzard for 8 years now. They make us wait for everything, a few more months won't kill us haha =P.

Forgive my oxymoronic statement. The idea of capturing this Qiraji Guardling is causing an unbelievable fuss in the Pet Battle world. (And I thought trying to get a Minfernal was the most frustrating task to undergo)

OK here is the real DEAL I know I didnt see anyone confirm this but I have spoken to a GM and they were for once completely helpful none of this unfair advantage crap they just answered my question.

They have stated that this pet is released JUN 21 the Summer Solstice. It SHOULD be available for 3 mos.

NO comment was made in regards to the OWL disappearing Mar 1 not Mar 21 which is the Spring Equinox which should mean its a three month pet BUT it would be DEC 21 to Mar 21 roughly. Therefore WE DO KNOW now that its June 21 good hunting. Hopefully it wont be like the Minifernal for spawn rates LOL.

I have a question regarding this pet. On warcraftpets.com when you click "Location" it says:
"ONLY FOUND AS AN ADDED PET (May join in battle".
Does this mean it is not by itself like the Unborn Val'kyr? That we have to engage lizards and whatnot and *hope* for it to join battle?

For all pet collectors who want a rare one. Please just capture one pet and don't farm everyone there is just for a rare one. Alot of people want this pet and have waited a long time for it. Either use a battle stone or wait a week, so eveyone gets a chance of getting the pet.

spawned exactly at 12:00 am server time.

just stand close to the wall, they spawn at both sides.

to help yourself when trying to catch it with lots of people around, as it is cross-realmed the whole thing, just have a macro /tar qiraji guardling, and key bind the "interact with the target" and spam both like a psycho.

i did that, standing 5 yards from the wall with 3-4 other guys next to me, and was immediately in a battle.

had a green one. couldn't ask for more.

The pets just spawned in Silithus a few minutes after midnight server time; there were several of them, though most seemed to be of Poor quality, judging by fellow pet hunters' comments in the Silithus general chat.

They appear with 2 more pets around 16-17 level, so a triple fight it is.

Honothina asked a question earlier about confirming the information found on warcraftpets.com, which is that in the location it says ""ONLY FOUND AS AN ADDED PET (May join in battle)".
This is a valid question, I dont see why it has been down voted, I too would like to confirm if people are catching them as a the main engage or have they appeared as extras in battle?

Started spawning on Sen'jin-EU, this morning 5:04 (northern solstice). AQ is overwhelmed with players from 5-6 different servers and flying around is much more better hunt tactic than just waiting on one spot. I found gray, engage, catch, soulstoned, wishing others best luck.

Use Terrible Turnip with spell Weakening Blow .

I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence but I was killing the critters around the wall as I was searching and 3-4 Qiraji Guardling's had spawned at separate times in a 30 minute time period. This was also 6 hours after the Qiraji Guardling's had spawned at midnight.

Got mine today at around 6 am, found them near the entrances to AQ. Had a rare humanoid battle stone with me so I could get one without ruining the chances for other aspiring Zookeepers. Now I just need to get this pet up to lvl 25 by fighting Pandaren spirits. <3

Exactly 12am PST - Got mine, was the 4th one that spawned along the northern side of the gates... Green S/S breed (I have a couple of stones for them saved up.) Gonna keep trying for the P/P breed. Got tagged with PVP right as I killed the last pet (Still got it :D)

Got mine.. I couldn't believe it. Have a macro ready to spam (target + interact) if you want any chance getting one while it's so busy. Got a P/B breed but for now I'll wait until the demand dies down to hunt for the best breed. Good luck

A BIG thing to note,is that he shares respawns with the critters that are both inside and outside the gate.

he dont seens to have a timer respawn, only chance,so kill the critters and profit!

I caught mine right out the front of the aq40 portal, so don't just look at the scrab wall! I also saw people catching them on the path leading up to the portal as well.

These pets share spawnpoints with other critters. It seems they appear randomly. Kill all critters in the area (scarabs and other snakes around entrance of AQ) if you want to see a Qiraji Guardling.

How to increase your chances with the multitude of other campers. (assuming they don't read this too :P)

1. Use this targeting macro:
/cleartarget
/tar Qiraji Guardling
/stopmacro
/script SetRaidTarget("target",6)

2. Go to keybindings and bind your 'Interact with Target' to something easy to reach. I bound to middle mouse button.

I flew around spamming my macro which I put on my 1 keybind. Then my macro found one and put the square raid marker on the Guardling. A dozen other pet battlers flew toward it as well but I managed to grab it first due to my binding of 'Interact with Target' spammed like crazy on my middle mouse button.

Alternatively you can sit in one spawn point and spam your macro. Either works.

Several hundred people here now, been here since midnight and haven't seen any.

Seems to be mixed information about this pet, Warcraftpets states it will only spawn as a secondary joined in a pet battle while a handful of folks here say otherwise.

as far as I figured

They spawn on each reset like 5 or 6 of them together
after that they'll spawn two of them each 30min-1h one inside the wall and one outside the wall

am camping outside and I found that they have four spawn points which is the same as the critters around the wall spawning points

I'll try to keep this updated

EDIT: ok my theory of one spawning outside and one inside the walls isn't 100% accurate I'll need more observation
and am almost about to confirm that it spawns each 1h

I was sitting at the Scarab Wall for about 10 minutes, and I would kill all the critters that would spawn. About 9 minutes into my onslaught, one spawned, and I managed to get it. While I was fighting the Guardling, a second spawned, and someone grabbed that fairly quick.

Killing the other critters can't hurt your chances, and the few people who have done so seem to have increased chances. Another thing I was thinking, but it is merely speculative is that they spawn in pairs, one not long after another.

So I've been camping since midnight PST. At midnight straight up, several spawned and were quickly captured. Then none spawned all night, even though we killed all the critters in the area over and over, until about 5:45 am. At that time, 7-8 spawned a few minutes apart and after they were captured, no more spawned. It would seem that the rumor of the 5-6 hour spawn timer is true, and the reports that killing critters helps is mere coincidence?

I can personally confirm that they do spawn on both sides of the Scarab Wall, both sides of the Scarab Dias and on each side of both portals into the instance. They also spawn on the paths leading up to the two instance doors. They do NOT spawn inside the instance or but they DO spawn above the instance. They DO spawn as both primary and secondary pets.

UPDATE: At 6:30 am (so 6.5 hours since the initial spawn) I saw three more, then I got mine at 6:45. Not really sure what that says for the spawn timer theory. At this point, I feel like we're all just guessing. But good luck to everyone! My spawn was poor quality. I plan to use a Battle-stone on it so that I don't have to take spawns from other people. I would encourage others to do the same. Right now, the important thing is to get one of any quality to complete the achievement. We can worry about rarities and breeds later when things have calmed down a bit.

UPDATE 2: My husband got his rare after just 15 minutes by killing the critters that spawned on top of the instance behind the doors. Each time he would kill 10-15 critters, a Quiraji would spawn. He repeated this process until he got his rare. I have updated my post to reflect his findings.

Sooo, I found one, a rare S/B breed, about 10mins ago. It wasn't the breed I really wanted so instead of capturing it and letting it go to waste, I announced it in trade and had only 1 person whisper to me for it. They caught it and now are a very happy person!

**Update** You can never say with a good deed goes unpunished! I went the next day to the same spot I found the same rare and was able to snatch up a rare P/P breed. I found it in the corner by the landing of between the first and second steps leading up to AQ40.

Just snagged a common one on the inside of the wall , right where the path splits to the two instances , 1500 on Shen'dralar spanish rppvp (what can I say , quiet server .. <.< ) , was the only one , spawned in front of me after I'd done a loop of the inner area killing critters.

I logged on this morning, flew out to AQ and found one the second I got there. There were 4 ofther players hovered around it. I clicked on it for the hell of it and engaged it. Have no clue what all those other people were doing because it was a rare, lol.

Just got mine at 9:50am on Malygos server. They seem to spawn most often around the Twilight Outpost. I've seen 5 others get theirs there. Good luck all :)

If you have not grabbed on of these yet, DO NOT waste your time today (June 21rst)... CRZ makes it ludicrous. I would recommend waiting for a server restart as I am betting it works the same as other pets (like Minfernal) where they will be plentiful if you can get in right after a server restart. Be warned that since this is CRZ'd your home server may not come up at the same time that the CRZ comes up so you may still be late, but it has to be better than this...

Just park a toon at the wall and wait for a restart...

If you're out hunting this for World Safari, you may get lucky and not have to wait TOO long depending on your CRZ.

If you're intending to hunt this for actual pvp pet battle use, don't even try right now. Qiraji Guardling basically has the same huge number of breeds that Flayer Youngling does. It would be best to practice patience than to suffer frustration at this time. Non-Battle collectors will trickle away on their own as they get their achievement credit.

Some noteworthy breeds for this pet include:
- 1725/260/260 Basically use like Anubisath but with Reckless Strike instead of Rupture, imo the best Sandstorm breed
- 1400/325/260 Moderately low speed, hits hard, probably the best stats if you're fond of Whirlwind and not Sandstorm
- 1400/260/325 Max Speed variant for 2-turn stuns on Blackout Kick
- 1400/289/289 Balance of power and speed, has ups and downs with pretty much all the moves

In general, Reckless Strike is one of the better selling points of this pet. Crush's shaky accuracy is always a vulnerability, especially during Sandstorm. You can use this pretty much exactly the same as Anubisath, except the much shorter cooldown on Reckless Strike lets you keep a stronger offensive presence.

Whirlwind, in all fairness, is basically unusable. Due to the turn cooldowns on 3/4 of the other move slots (and Sandstorm countering your own Whirlwind), and Hawk Eye not actually DOING anything except every 4 turns, taking Whirlwind basically leaves you juggling 4 other options with cooldowns. You can Whirlwind, Blackout Kick, then swap, but such frequent swapping defeats the purpose of Blackout Kick as well. If you're fond of Whirlwind, Curious Wolvar Pup is another Humanoid with the move, and Deathtalon Whelpguard has it as well, and both come with the 1400/325/260 breed, but with movesets better able to support Whirlwind use.

The info on the stats for this pet doesn't seem to be correct on Wowhead.

My rare Guardling has:

Health : 1725

Power: 260

Speed: 260

I'm not really sure how the sliding bar up top on this site works but it says as a rare this pet will have 1546 health which is a lot lower than mine.

Shes got a decent amount of health. The highest health of all my lvl 25 pets is the Crawdad @ 1887. Roaches and the Scourged Whelp are second with 1806. So The Guardling looks to be 3rd in highest health. I've used her a few times now @ lvl 25 and she is pretty solid. Reckless Strike deals 420 at lvl 20 which is decent as well.

Please do not kill Qiraji Guardlings on purpose!

No matter what you have read anywhere it is better to allow people to fight and tame (or accidentally kill) them.

Targeting and killing them is not helping.

Allow people the chance to actually tame them.

Please let others tame their pets and get their achievements and titles. If clearing spawns helps more to spawn, then allow others to tame or accidentally kill them via pet battle. This would help the spawn rate to the same effect.

Edit: This misunderstanding may have been formed by the fact that it might help force spawns by killing critters and other battle pets in the area. I ran around killing critters and saw other people killing the snake and scarab battle pets in the area and after doing so I witnessed 2 people fighting and taming Qiraji Guardlings. This is not concrete confirmation, but it seems there may be some validity to the idea. Since Guardlings seem to be primary only I would like to ask....has anyone seen a Guardling as a secondary pet? I have been personally avoiding killing battle pets specifically because I simply do not know.

Thanks auntmousie for testing it out. As far as I've been able to tell by asking around (I have personally only caught 2, and one was right after server maintenance when no one else was around because the servers were up early) and reading up on it...it is highly unlikely to spawn as a secondary pet. Not that it matters as much at this point since they did up the spawn rate and complaints about it have started to stop.

What's wrong with you Blizz? We have been waiting months for this pet. Why not make it a spawn fest so that we can all get our pet and title? Surely insects such as this should spawn in masses. Instead we are left to waste hours, days and possibly weeks to compete with dozens of other players for the rare spawn to turn up. I think Blizz dropped the ball on this one. As a long-anticipated seasonal pet, they had to know that it would be highly-sought after, purely for achievement's sake (Rather than on its own merits), and that there would be a LOT of people aftre it. And yet, even for these opening days, they leave it on this sort of minfernal-ish timer?

How does that add to the game, making everyone who wants to complete their collection have to camp for hours? Sure, it gets us online, but we're certainly not enjoying ourselves with a game we want to recommend to our friends. It simply makes us frustrated, and changes our reaction to others from "Grats, you got it!" to "You bastard, that was my spawn!"

This is not a "rare, special, hyped" pet like the val'kyr. This is just the last goddamn pet we need to finish our ach. It's already arbitrarily restricted by having us wait ten months to get it. Why give it a spawn rate so low? If anything, it should have had a spawn BOOSTED for the opening days, like quest mobs at the start of an expansion.

Isn't having a bunch of happy gamers showing off their pets to their friends and guildies, a better result than a bunch of frustrated campers complaining "Nope, can't tank for you, the f___king this still hasn't spawned"

A little off topic, but be careful on pvp servers. I keep getting killed, but when I die I'm apparently inside the AQ instance, but when I go to my corpse, it says I'm not in the instance. I'm having to take res sickness, "run out", which apparently is really in, then out again to get to where the pets are.

If anyone else is running into this, please let me know. It's kind of bothersome.

I got the on 10pm Central Time, Kirin-Tor server near the entrance of the AQ raid on the very right corner side of the first flight of stairs. My WOW coordinates says <48.98, 8.84>.

You will get the error message "pet battle area is obstructed". What you want to do is stand on the big block of stone that serve as the "railing" of the stair. Keep on spamming it until you engaged the battle. I was extremely lucky, there were 4 other people trying to spam the pet also.

Given that this is the last pet that people need for their achievement and that so many of us were looking forwards to being done with insane camping afterwards, I'm surprised at Blizzard for their glib "rares are rare lol" responses.

Fine, rares are rare. Rares are next to impossible when there are 28 -- I counted -- people in a small area, all hoping for a needle in a haystack when that needle may or may not spawn in the next two hours and you may or may not get it depending on your luck, latency or whether you happened to blink at that specific moment.

I don't want pets handed to me, I like to work for them. But I like to be able to work for them, and even after one day I can tell that the spawn rate/amount isn't cutting it.

Edited to add: downrate me all you like, but you know I'm right.

Having said all of that, I received mine at 37, 55 at 5:45am exactly on Whisperwind shortly (5 minutes or so) after seeing a goblin DK kill a Quardling in the exact same spot so hopefully someone else can benefit from that information.

After having my main realm be plagued by CRZ, I ended up having the most luck by using one of my alts that happened to be on a low pop RPPVP server (Ravenholdt EU), I saw a grand total of 3 people there, none of which stuck around for long before a guardling spawned.

While pvp servers carry the obvious drawback of the possibility of being pvped out of pet battles, it seems the threat of that is keeping said realms so sparsely populated that it's not super likely - rolling a DK on a low pop RPPVP realm might be the easiest way to go about getting a guardling.

Whoohoo one just spawned only a single one, and everyone that was hovering in the area was doing exactly that, just hovering in the area (guess they missed it).
I engaged it in battle and captured it. Uncommen quality, will use a stone on it to make it rare so others have a chance to get one of their own.

It spawned in a corner on the sands on the left side of the stairs to AQ40 (left side if you are approaching the instance) I made a target macro for targetting it, it seems so tiny on the sand that i thought i accidentally targeted a snake but a second look made me realise it wasn't a snake.

Very happy zookeeper over here :)
This pet makes number 500 of unique pets for me!

I saw someone capture one at 59:6. Figuring it was as good a place as any other to set up camp since I knew that they definitely spawned there, I fired up Netflix and set to staring blankly at my minimap.

Twenty-six minutes later, another one spawned at the same coordinates. It's poor quality, but thank God we live in an era of Pet Stones.

Was doing a heroic daily scenario just now, zoned back in and it spawned 2 or 3 seconds after I zoned in, just to the very left of the AQ40 portal, as you are facing portal. Terrible turnip. Uncommon quality. TINY, no battle pet marker, looked like a sand beetle. Good luck!

i have seen them at both 39, 82 (in the corner to the left of the main gate), and at 37, 81 (just to the left of the main gate, on the main promenade).

But they are very few and far between - in the 9 hours i was camping it, i saw only 6 of them.

I been out here since 7am-ish my time ( pst) and that whole 6 hour deal is kind of bogus heres why.
Since i been out here about 10 people or so have tamed/battles and got one .
it seems every 25-30 mins they show up also many have pointed out that they dont show on that map thats true so i decided to make a macro:

/target Qiraji Guardling is a good thing to have just spam it when your in the area .

Confirmed location: (32,78) right next to the Scarab Dais at 11:45AM Sentinels server US. I camped the spot for about 4 and a half hours and it was just my luck to find it. I cannot confirm it shows up as a secondary pet nor can I confirm any other locations, only this one. My suggestion: just camp that area, since there is a second theoretical location right by it I read about above. I have never camped any other rare pets I have captured, only this one, and given the amount of people looking for it at this particular time, it seemed to work for me just to sit in one spot and let everyone else fly around. I would like to point out that I just acquired this pet, a lvl 15 common. It's stats when caught were 147 power, 132 speed, 834 health. This does not match any of the breeds listed as possible at this date (22/06/2013), it does however match breed 7 exactly. This would indicate that this breed does indeed exist for this pet, if rare (or just not reported yet?), and needs to be added to the database one way or the other.

P.S I would do it personally, but the wowhead client doesn't work for me. College computer is so bogged down with defenses against uploads, unfortunately.

I have seen several people suggest making DKs on low pop realms to work on catching this guy.

While it is possible that could work, keep these things in mind:

You're looking at 1.5-2 hours to get your DK out of the starting zone (not too bad).
You will not be able to fly in Silithus/AQ unless you are willing to level to 60, and somehow acquire a bunch of gold to pay for flight training. (ouch)

You can certainly catch the pet without flying, but if there are other campers, you will almost certainly lose the race to the spawn unless you get very, very lucky.

It's probably better to just wait until the camping situation on your own server dies down a bit. And it will.. remember it's only been out for a couple of days, and there are months to go.

Got mine on Moon Guard, 7:52PM a bit outside the gates of the instance. There were a lot of people there, but it spawns almost on top of me, so I was able to click fast and nab her. Surprisingly, I only had to wait about 10 minutes for her to spawn, so I consider this extremely lucky. She's grey quality, but I will boost with a stone when I can. Good luck to all getting her! :)

Caught mine around 1:00 AM PST, realm Duskwood, ally dk, coor 41,78 Silithus... I still don't understand the whole 'breed' system, but my pet's stats are the following:

Level after capture: 16
Quality: Poor
Health: 812
Speed: 134
Power: 134

This happened after I camped outside the two AQ instances for two hours on realm Dragonmaw, switched to Duskwood and tried flying around the same area. I personally think I was just massively lucky as there are a lot of campers here too... I hope this helps someone.

Tried today originally on my server (Malfurion-US) there were at least a dozen people there, so I hoped over to Ravenholdt which is one of the few servers not shoved into CRZ. When I got there I was the only person in the zone and found a single spawn just on the inside of the Qiraji walls. Common quality but I can upgrade it with a stone.

Highly recommend if you are having issues with grabbing one on your server to try Ravenholdt especially during non-busy hours (mine was at 1:30pm server time).

There is another breed available for this pet other then the 2 listed. It can be breed #10 p/b. My husband caught one this morning at approx. 42,80, which is actually far away from the typical camped area (I told him this is probably the only reason he got it too).
Just to let people know there's more breeds then the H/H and the split health speed.

I was farming in Silithus and stopped off around the area just north of the Ruins of Anh'Qiraj and saw a green paw. I hovered my mouse over it and it was the Qiraji Guardling! I swooped down just in time to engage it into battle. It was poor quality but I caught it. I have a Flawless Battle-Stone with his name on it. I caught this sweet looking battle pet at: 39.33, 79.44. I caught mine on US Ner'zhul at 3:08 am server time. The coordinates were (50.5,15.8) near the entrance to AQ40. It was poor quality, but I have battle stones to upgrade for a reason. I wanted to see if killing critters in AQ would force a spawn. The pet seems to only spawn as a primary pet, so I killed any critter I could. Within 30 minutes the little humanoid bug spawned. Your results may vary, but at the least if you get bored hunting this guy feel free to take it out on the scarabs and sidewinders.

Also wanted to add that this pet can be breed #4 P/P. I'm not sure how many different breeds this pet can have, but it is definitely more than the 2 that currently show.

Logged on at 2 AM realm time on Emeriss, noticed some dead guardlings around. There was a priest killing them. Went a bit outside, found one at 37.00 80.57 . It was rare too :D used the terrible turnip to capture him, and fortunately the priest didn't come to kill me or the pet.

Made a DK on Brazil Gallywix, did the Summer fires to lvl 60, farmed Herbs & Mining to get 500g to fly & JUST NOW (6:50 PDT) scored a Poor Qiraji Guardling, S/B at 29/79 in Silithis just SE of the Twilight Outpost outside the Scarab Wall.

Don't make the mistake I did. I had forgotten I had been trying to upgrade my Infested Bear Cub while leveling gathering in Hillsbrad & had level 7 group ready. I had to abandon the fight, switch to the right level team & re-engage.

Saw many spawns North of the Scarab Wall while none were spawning South of it, inside the courtyard, in front of the instance entrances. Saw this on two servers, since I went to move another toon I had in place.

I finally got one, a poor quality @ 8:20pm server time. But I don't mind. I validated the fact that the spawn rate for this pet has indeed increased. I'm on server Proudmoore-US and my tip is to stay at coord. 50.8, 12.3 and be patient. 4 Guardling spawned in 1 hour, average wait time of 15 min.

There are other spots that's spawning of course, like near the summoning stone. I know, because you can sense the joy of the players when they blurt out in the chat, GOT ONE! In succession. It seems that their righteous anger is a thing in the past from frustration of long & boring camping hours.

It's sad Blizzard did not anticipate to increase the spawn rate from day 1. A lot of players now has distant trust to the very creator of this wonderful game.

I hope that Blizzard will learn from this experience. Your loyal paying players does not deserve this kind of treatment.

Got mine this morning at 6am. Was very excited! :)

It is really cool and I love the sound of the flapping wings. It is almost hummingbird style and I am sure it will drive people crazy at some point, but for now it is cool.

I just caught my own Qiraji Guardling after reading that there was a hotfix to increase the spawn rate.
Mine was a S/S breed, which is one of the breeds that is supposedly unavailable to this pet. I hope this isn't a glitch that they might fix in the near future, because I wouldn't mind getting an optimal breed.

Any of you fellow tamers have any thoughts on which breed would be the best for this pet?

EDIT: I went back and scoped out some breeds for this pet. I was going to try for the P/S (it's funny, the first one I engaged yesterday was a P/S, but I thought it was a H/H at the time so I left it for someone else to get), but then I got a P/P breed.
So I am sitting here with a P/P and a S/S. I have my Marked Flawless Battle-Stone at the ready, I just have to make a decision...
I am leaning more towards the P/P breed just to see how big its Crush crits will be with Hawk Eye... But this pet just feels like it should be a fast pet...
What a dilemma, eh?

i REALLY don't get why it was hotfixed....pps that biatched on the official forums feel happy now that so many of the spawn that you can literally kill a pet and another instantly spawns?
it was supposed to be hard to get like the other pets with requirements f.e. winter/snow/sandstorm etc...

pps ruined the experience of hunting...GJ

With the hotfix it probably does not matter to note such things but I've observed that they spawned en masse at 4am server time (Brazilian server) and then again 45 minutes later. Of course, they spawn at various intervals in between as they get snatched up or killed but, suddenly... Qiraji at 4:00am and 4:45am; maybe 5:30am will see another spawning?

If so, 4:00, 4:45, 5:30, 6:15, 7:00 and repeat every 3 hours server time to be part of a mass spawning could be a thing.

Just a theory and probably incorrect - but if anyone else can corroborate it would be interesting to know.

The spawn rate has been ridiculously increased. So I started checking for rares and killing them afterwards because there were so many of them. I killed about 30 and got a rare H/S.
By the time it took for me to write this 4 new ones spawned just in my vision radius.

Respawns of this have been greatly increased, there were four people battling inside the walls, just infront of the raid entrances.
I killed a few Scarab Hatchling critters and a quardling spawned within 10 seconds. Might just have been luck, but with the respawn rates so high at the moment, you never know =)

The breeds shown for this is incorrect. Currently I have captured 6+ guardlings and many were different. I have found my main is a S/S breed.

My GM just caught one (Common) 10 minutes ago just to the north-east side of the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj main entrance. She said about 6 popped up within 10 minutes around 38, 78. Happy Farming!

I caught mine this morning, right after Moon Guard came back up. Out side of the Meeting Stone on the road.
When I logged in, there were 4 of the pets spawned... I took my time and made sure my battle pets were healed and then picked the one that kept flying back and forth in front of me. When the battle came up... the lil guardling was RARE... I was so excited... I was able to capture him and easily defeat the 2 snakes that spawned with him.
I captured him approximately 0710 central time.
Thank's Blizzard for the restart and the boost to the spawn time....

but... now about those darned minfernals.......................................................

Having a key binded to Interact with target, saved my life. One of these popped up and as group of people dove for it, by the skin of my teeth i got into battle spamming my key bind. I recommend it for everyone!

Captured a rare at 41.8, 85.9 in "Ahn'Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom".

Stats are:

H 932
P 208
S 166

The macro below helps a LOT to find them. The spawn rate has definitely increased a bunch (thank you Blizzard!) so there's no need to spawn camp, just cruise around punching your macro and you'll easily find one (I'm on a high pop PVE server).

Macro I used:

/cleartarget
/tar Qiraji
/stopmacro
/script SetRaidTarget("target",6)

Well I've managed 2 rares so far. I saw another one but had to kill it because I was looking for a P/P breed of any quality. Did this on a dead crz free server so plz don't be mad. I logged on early to see every spawn up LOL.. it was like being a kid on christmas morning. All mine for the pickin :)

After the hotfix today greatly increasing the spawn rate of the pet, I've noticed that the breeds available aren't matching with those listed on wowhead. After clicking the "Show breeds not available to this pet", you'll find the other breeds that are actually available for this pet. Happy hunting!

I spotted a few inside AND outside the Scarab Wall (Border of AQ and Silithus). Both were common catches, sadly. Luckily, most CRZ mayhem has subsided and the spawn rate has increased. I saw 4 up at one time while a few others were battling as well. Happy hunting!

They spawn on 21th June and you can find them in front of "The Scarab Wall", behind the wall and in front of Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.
Also, don't be selfish and let some for other people too!

The stat distribution that wowhead has those the pets are currently incorrect. I'm not sure how many different types are available, but I caught a poor(grey) 100% speed guarding which i upgraded to rare. It lined up perfectly with the 100% speed stats.

Wasn't expecting to get one of these fellas seeing as I've been real lazy with Battle Pets(only because I want so badly to have more level 90's) a couple of days ago I decided it was time to get my team of level 7s up enough to get this before it's gone again, got them to level 17, headed over to An'Qiraj and the course the first thing I see is this! So glad they increased the spawn rate. Now on to getting a level 25 team!

Whereas the other seasonal pet, the Snowy Owl spawned so widely and unpredictably across Winterspring as to make farming a rare a very un-sporting thing to do to other players: the guardling is now so plentiful and spawns in such a concentrated area free of hostile mobs you may feel free to farm them at your leisure and even use them to level other lowbie pets. Just be sure to have a Terrible Turnip or low-level pet in your team to insure you don't kill the rare one when you find it.

Hi guys, just caught this and a Minfernal on Jubei'Thos (PVP) was on Horde Orc Blood/Unholy deathknight named Deathknight.
It was 5:30pm Aus time on 8th July 2013. I got a RARE Guardling first shot.
Took portal from Org to Uldum and flew over and he was right there where the map says so there were at least 10 or so that I could see before entering the battle with the one I caught.
Flipped my ^&*!. Came with 2 adds, a snake and scarab.

Hope this helps people. At the moment it is Winter here so I am a little confused about the spawn timer I am unsure of the season in USA so yeah.

OK ALL! READ THIS POST! Guaranteed to save you several hours of farming for rare spawn pets! Works 100%! 5.4+ patch

So here is a method to farm ANY WORLD SPAWN PET OR WORLD RARES and do it in about 5-10 minutes

First in World of Warcraft press "O" and go to Other Raids Tab and que for Ordos and Celestial raid or any popular world raid boss! Once you get picked up you transfer to that server...which hopefully one of the rares has spawned on that server... If not leave group and re-que for a different group. Took me 3-4 times before finding a server that has the the rare spawn pet or world rare spawns. Eazy as pie...

Tip: to speed up the que time enter a high item level in comments you get picked up in less than 40 secs. Before queing make sure you are in the area/zone that you want to farm for the rare pet! Also the above method works for rare world spawns...farming...and other stuff.

My Experience:

I confirm this 200% that these creatures have appeared today 21/06/2014 .. I was camping the area before this date and never seen a single one until today however I got my Raw Summer Bass earlier this month .. So yes the 21st of this month to get this pet is correct. Saw Plenty of em along the Scarab Wall from inside and outside so I got all my 3/3 two uncommon and one Rare and finally got my Kalimdor Safari and World Safari Done today .. Everyone who is looking for one can easily get one. The number is quite big. Good Luck !

Just got mine. It was easy, there were over a dozen of them around!

I was even able to fly from pet pack to pet pack, looking for a rare. Found it on the fith try.

Incidently, in case anyone doesn't know, if you click on the white flag and leave battle before it starts, the pet pack doesn't go away, so someone else can go and get them.

Qiraji Guardling is one of 12 Battle Pets that can only be found during specific spawning conditions.

Qiraji Guardling can be found near The Scarab Wall and The Scarab Dais in the southwest area of Silithus ONLY during the Summer (Starts spawning: June 21, Stops spawning: September 23).

The following are Battle Pet that will only spawn in certain conditions:

Arctic Fox Kit can be found at The Storm Peaks ONLY when it is snowing.
Baby Ape can be found at Jaguero Isle in the The Cape of Stranglethorn ONLY when it Rains.
Crow can be found at Darkmoon Island ONLY during the Darkmoon Faire and ONLY as a Secondary pet in a pet battle.
Darkmoon Glowfly can be found at Darkmoon Island ONLY during the Darkmoon Faire.
Little Black Ram can be found at Loch Modan ONLY during the Early hours (server time).

A good pet to use for battling and capturing these (or any other pet you're missing for that matter) is the Molten Corgi.
The Superbark ability prevents you from accidently killing the pet when your trap misses.

I'd highly recommend using either the Terrible Turnip with Weakening blow that doesn't reduce the health below 1, or the Molten Corgi for capturing this. Nothing more frustrating, truly, than to have the pet you want so badly die on you. Good luck to any that still need it.

For those like me who were worried about the pet being like Snowy Owl in terms of how it spawns, have no fear there is quite a few of Qiraji Guardling along the wall where it spawns, at least it was for me, and enough to try to get a rare quality one.

Just captured one! If you don't have this yet, go grab it. Between that and the Minfernal, you'll have at least 1/2 of the super-hard-to-get-pets captured for Kalimdor Safari! :) Good luck! (No one was around, either, so I was able to try a few of the pets hanging out to find a rare one!)

You may not see these until you talk to a Bronze Dragon to see Silithus before there was a giant sword in it.

The map shows you Zidormi near Valor's Rest, but there is another Bronze Dragon named Ronormu at the Scarab Dias right outside Ahn'Qiraq.

Make sure you are in the pre-"Wound of the World" Silithus by talking to Rhonormu (33.4, 80.8) - as far as I can tell, the guardlings do not spawn in the more current time.

It can be found only in the old Silithus.
So if you wanna catch it, speak with Zidormi and she will teleport you back in the time to the old Silithus.

If you are under level 110, you don't have to speak with her, because you are already in the old Silithus.
Only 110+ players have to speak with her.

Heads up to those in 2020 looking for one of these cuties, they do not appear to spawn in the Current version of Silithus. You'll need to talk to Zidormi in the northeastern part of the map to phase back to old Silithus.

As of June 22nd, I found these in abundance outside the raid portals for Ahn Qiraj - I was in the old version of Siiithus at the time, if that makes a diference :)
