This pet, in all of its glory, is a reference to a particular, very famous scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail: The Killer Rabbit. In this scene, it obliterates King Arthur's group of knights, forcing them to retreat... And, after much deliberation, use a hand grenade to blow the rabbit up. It's Monty Python, were you expecting something normal?

In-game, getting it requires a fight much like the one in the movie: An all-out war against the level ? boss 'Darkmoon Rabbit' during the Darkmoon Faire. Only one player in the raid can acquire this ferocious beast as a pet, so good luck on your roll!

Unfortunately it seems that most people that manage to win this pet just wants to sell it. I've been in three kills of Darkmoon Rabbit and each time the winner has promptly gone to the auction house and posted the Darkmoon Rabbit for more than 100K.

I happily wish everyone continued luck in not having it go to people who just want this pet to auction it off.

I think , that this pet should be a bit stronger . After all , it drops from a pretty strong and rare boss .

As with all rabbits and hares, you want to go with speed ... breed S/S. All rabbits and hares come in the S/S breed with the exception of the Elfin Rabbit (so says Wowhead).

The stats for all the rare S/S breeds of rabbits and hares are 1400/228/358 (@25).

The main difference in this rabbit and the others are the two spells:

Darkmoon: Vicious Streak and the others: Adrenaline Rush
100% speed increase for 2 rounds -vs.- 75% speed increase for 3 rounds

Darkmoon: Huge, Sharp Teeth! and the others: Flurry
approx 16/21 damage (bleeds overwrite) 100% accuracy -vs.- 20/25 damage 50% accuracy
18dmg -vs- 12dmg

With other rabbits, speed is very important for the effectiveness of Flurry, but with the Darkmoon Rabbit, you can get away with another breed ... Huge, Sharp Teeth! is not speed oriented.

If you're not looking to raise it for intensive battling and just want it for your pokedex, a tip no one has posted yet is that only the high-speed breed is extra-valuable. 100k for that one, yes. For the others you can see it between 15k and 40k.

I'm not sure why this is exactly (As Draewind said, the Darkmoon Rabbit is less speed-oriented than the normal rabbit) but it is so, for whatever reason.

What groups really ought to do is bid amongst each other for the Rabbit. High bidder ponies up the gold and gets the rabbit, rest of the group shares the gold. Unfortunately there's no "bid for loot" option, (so I would never trust anyone to do this) but there should be.

anyone else thinks this is a joke. u can do the wolf once every hr. u dont have to be in a party. and horde or alliance can claim rewards. but the one thing that is very very very random . u have to be in a raid group there for allaince does it horde cant do it, vice versa, and if u not in the raid group u get jack. i think wow hit gold on this one.

This bunny is sadly a total let down for battles. Its outspeeds everything but flying pets and a handful of certain trainer pets, but its dmg is super weak, and its abilites are standard rabbit moves. Unless you're a collector avoid it.

A much better rabbit is the S/S breed Grasslands Cottontail. It has 260 dmg/325speed making it the best rabbit available.

As of today, 2018-09-02, he no longer spawns upon the opening of the Darkmoon Faire.

This pet looks almost exactly like the Frenzied Cottontail, which has bloody face but white & brown fur markings. So if you aren't having luck getting the Darkmoon Rabbit it to drop, that would be a great alternative.

you can solo Darkmoon Rabbit in shadowlands 9.2 with any tanking spec but it will take a long time.
