Tahkwitz is part of the Adventurer of Zereth Mortis achievement

Tahkwitz is a Rare Elite flying high in the sky in Zereth Mortis around nests on top of a rock formation at 49.73 39.62. This is a difficult rare to solo, even if your class normally doesn't have issues because you can get easily killed by fall damage because you will be stunned until you hit the ground.

Currently it's possible to remove Clutched by right-clicking it because it is classified as a buff.

To reach it you can use the Ultimus Locus teleport point from the Locus Shift Network and jump or use a Goblin Glider Kit to get near it, alternatively you can use a class ability or Door of Shadows to slowly climb the cliff and rock formation.

The Locus Shift Network is explored in detail during A Means to an End, Chapter 6 of the Zereth Mortis Campaign, most specifically the quest Match Made in Zereth Mortis.

With flying reaching this rare is easier.

To reach Tahkwitz you have to use the teleport located inside a room (Gravid Repose).
To use these teleports you need 30x Cosmic Energy & completed the quest Match Made in Zereth Mortis Chapter 6 from Secrets of the First Ones.
After unlock the Locus Shift teleport, select the 7° option to go to Ultimus Locus Arrangement and reach the rare.
While in Ultimus Locus go to the rare coordinates. You can use Goblin Glider Kit to reach the rare platform.

Complete chapter 6 A Means to an End of the Secrets of the First Ones quest Match Made in Zereth Mortis
& learn how to use the Cosmic Energy
Farm 30 Cosmic Energy by killing mobs
Go to the Locus Shift teleport inside the Gravid Repose vault
Use 7-th option (1 before last) Ultimus Locus Arrangement and it will teleport you to the Resonant Peaks
Run forward, jump down and kill the rare
After you get Flying in Zereth Mortis it's easy, just fly to the top

Can drop Tahkwitz's Cloth Ribbon

This bird has 2 dangerous spells

it will grab the player and fly above. Player cant move until he reaches the earth and looses ~70-80% hp because of fall damage

Can reach via Darkmoon Cannon on live, starting at peak of gate Coords 55.5, 39.2 point cannon towards rare, and use glider at apex of jump.

Beware as it's a bit challenging to solo with the stun/drop combo, can't cast slow fall as you're stunned the entire fall duration. The fall height increases as a soft enrage mechanic.

Was able to solo on my BDK after a failed first attempt using the GOAT Pocket-Sized Computation Device, the parachute gem completely negates the drop mechanic so all you have to focus on is the pushback mechanic.

Ironically after all that I did not get the schematic I was looking for.

As a Demon Hunter, I thought "Fall damage? Pfft, no problem!"

I was wrong. :(

Tahkwitz will stun you and slowly lift you into the air before dropping you to the ground. The duration of the stun lasts until you hit the ground, so no Glide.

He's very buggy. Sometimes interrupt just doesn't register. As if you're looking in the wrong direction. I think because he's fighting you from above it can sometimes bug out as if you have your back to him. Makes it frustrating and hard to solo.

If you get pushed off the platform and can't loot it before the corpse despawns, you won't get Enlightened rep. You'll get mail with all its other drops, but no rep.

Managed to solo it as a warlock, it seems I was able to avoid some of the Clutching Swoops by teleporting out of line of sight, behind a rock.

It took forever to Door of Shadows up around the mountain, but I finally got up there and tamed it today. Sweet looking bird and it keeps the name.

Has 750k base health. I tried tagging it and pulling it to the ground so others could help but lost aggro.

If you have these gloves Dimensional Numerus Handguards for your class upgraded to at least tier 2, then Clutching Swoop does very little damage and the fight is really easy

Soloed it with Vengeance Demon Hunter. Reached it relatively easy via Locus Network, as Demon Hunter you can unlock 6 out of 7 runes (Portals). Dealt with Stun Mechanic without a problem aswel, not sure if its still bugged. You can right click the stun aura and get rid of it, still got the full duration in the air tho, but you can slow fall after that.

Soloable by Venthyr Mistweaver during first week, but a real pain the the butt because it reset twice. There are a couple of areas where you can wedge yourself in a place where you won't get blown off. Gloves that reduce falling damage recommended. I took nearly no fall damage and only had to heal from the pushback.

Easily solod as a 250 arms warrior:

Need impending victory and second wind, maybe venthyr too for condemn reduction but its much quicker to scale the mountain with venthyr as well.

Bird will grab you, this is ussualy long enough for second wind to activate, when the bird drops you, you will take fall damage but second wind doesn't break on fall damage. If you are esp low, hit die by sword and interupt immedietally, second wind will heal you up rest of the way.

Cannot bring bird down to surface, tried, rescaled the mountain.

I used the Door of Shadows (Venthyr teleport ability) and some Zerith Mortis boots with the jumping ability to get to the top of the arch where Tahkwitz patrols. I had no trouble keeping my pet alive - he doesn't seem to hit that hard. He only has 2 abilities worth noting: 1) He occasionally does a mild pushback to everyone in the area which was easy to push against, and 2) He occasionally picked me up (which stunned me) and dropped me after a brief climb - the fall only did 10% damage to me since I was on top of the arch and Leech healed that up pretty quick.

After the fight I saw a rare mob spawn way over by Haven. Normally, I'd consider that too far to go, but from that height I was able to glide 2/3 of the way there.

If you're a hunter and you're planning to solo this, there is a pet ability called Updraft that completely negates Tahkwitz' Clutching Swoop ability. The ability has no cooldown and the buff lasts for 30 seconds. You can even cast it as soon as the bird picks you up (as long as your pet is in range). Cloudstriders and larions by Aspirant's Rest's flight path in Bastion have this ability if you don't have a feathermane pet, assuming you already learned how to tame one via the Tome of the Hybrid Beast.

You can use the Cosmic Energy on the Locus Shift teleporter for a semi quick to get to Tahkwitz). It IS possible to unlock this system in 9.2 before flying and unlocking chapter 6. With some difficulty and patience, Venthyr's Door of Shadows is the best way for most classes. Or you can just slowly scale the mountain with Door of Shadows everytime.

If you are going in solo, I highly suggest a class who can off heal. The bird will cast Clutching Swoop and rise in the air to a certain point and drop you. Either killing you on impact for lower ilvls or nearly kill you. As a ret pally I found that I wasn't able to cast bubble or BoP as I was rising or falling. But if you pop a hard immune like Divine Shield, the rare will skip over the cast and restart their cast rotation.

You can get to Tahkwitz using the Frog'itFrog'it world quest and a glider.

Jump the frog to the highest point of the mountain range.

Then, jump off the mountain towards the Forge of Afterlives in the center of the zone (the gigantic floating orb). The frog falls slowly, and if you hit the jump as soon as it's off cooldown, you won't lose much height. Do this a few more times until you're high and close enough to use your glider to reach the forge.

If you go too far out of the world quest zone, you'll get dismounted off the frog and fall with a parachute, which is also the time to pop your glider. But, I recommend you dismount the frog and hit your glider at the peak of the jump rather than risk getting dismounted too low.

Once you land on the forge, wait for your glider to come off coolown, then jump off at about 48, 51 and use your glider to reach Takhwiz.

Make sure you have ways to deal with the fall damage from Takhwiz, and be careful of the push-back (which can be interrupted).

Each armour type has Zereth Mortis gear that can minimize the fall damage when equipped:

Dimensional Oracular Wrists (Cloth, Wrists)
Dimensional Cryptic Grips(Leather, Hands)
Dimensional Oracular Wrists (Mail, Feet)
Dimensional Numerus Handguards (Plate, Hands)

To get to it you actually don't need to be a venthyr at all (helps, but no neet), if you're a warlock (gateway), warrior/VDH (Leaps) or SV Hunter(harpoon, and of course, disengage) for parkouring thru the Cosmic Teleporters from the northern area (you can get to the top area with the mentioned skills. The hunter one, you actually send your pet to agro one of the mobs to the ledge and harpoon to it). Those help along with the new zone's Cypher equipment, like the climbing one you'll get.
Then, walk towards the southern edge and drop down to the larger area. Wait for it to pass near and use a 30+ skill to agro it to it, and kill.

Well, not stunable, but definitely SOLOABLE, at least by pet classes and tank specs. Just watch out for his pushback (save interrupt for it), the occasional pick up then drop (on my kill it didn't get me too high, only getting around 10% HP damage) and the DoT. Both the DoT and the fall damage you must have some sort of Leech or self healing ready, and you're set.

Solo'd today as a 229 enhance shammy, easily done by standing with my back to the cliff so when he lifted me I only fell back to the ledge I was standing on.

FYI, if you are an Outlaw Rogue, careful using Killing Spree on him if it's almost before he grabs you and lifts off! 3-4 times now, I got stuck and couldn't get out of the debuff from him grabbing me. I was able to logout and log back in to fix it a couple times, but last night I had to use the character stuck service - and had to ping Blizzard CSR's on Twitter, bc the service was taking longer than normal to unstick my character. :(

If you can fly, simply fly near him and he'll give chase. Lead him towards the cliffs to /way 49.07, 36.80. You'll be up on top of some spires in a nook. That'll help in two ways...it'll keep his wind buffet from knocking you off with your back into the nook and he won't take you up very high because you're already up high and he'll drop you directly back down on top of the spire again. Just make sure you have a way to heal from the drops. Much easier if you take a friend with ranged attacks that can continue to pepper him, even if he's aloft with you.

There are stuns in the game and then there is this son of a @#$%^. Is so *!@#ing op that you can even leap to another platform and it will glitch you BACK to the spot it started casting the damn stun.
