Going off on a limb to guess this is either an item you buy with valor points to upgrade another item that was mentioned during some of the MoP previews; or it's part of a legendary quest series for the first (or possibly later?) patch that also involves Sigil of Wisdom, Chimera of Fear, and Sigil of Power which were also added in this patch. It should be noted that this is pure and complete speculation though.

It's happening: a tank legendary. This is the best way to go about it. Guardian Druids get like a Sha-Touched polearm. Blood DKs get a Sha-Touched 2h mace. Brewmaster Monks (and I hope for the sake of hilarity Prot Warriors) get a Sha-Touched fist. Prot Paladins (and probably Prot Warriors in reality) get a Sha-Touched 1h axe. This item is used on them to purify the epic version of the legendary.

Merely speculation but I find it too obvious judging by the route they're going with a legendary "enchant" for items.

I'm going to have to go with a agility stave on this one for monks and feral druids. Feral druids are yet to have a legendary and monk's will of course be flavor of the month so they will get one much like dk's getting Shadowmourne.

my theory behind this legendary item is the following. Wrathion is interested in Pandaren lore and Sha.

You gather legendary items for him (Sigils from the Mogu raid and the other stuff in Heart of Fear), in exchange for some of his power (this breath).

Now what I think, is that the Sha of Fear will drop these so-called "Sha-Touched equipment" and that we use the Breath to give it an insanely buttf*cking itemlevel increase, much larger than what VP has to offer, but that the gear itself won't gain legendary status.

Well here's my 2cents of speculation:

I believe that items such as: Sigil of Power, Chimera of Fear, Sigil of Wisdom will be in some way used to upgrade ur gear.
Only certain equipment will be avaible for upgrade and using Breath of the Black Prince will upgrade that piece of equipment into a final (possibly legendary) piece.

In my opinion this would be a genius move from Blizzard as they would make every class have a legendary (possibly meaning they would have to make this really hard to do to keep the legendary feel) piece of gear, making a lot more people interested in going out there and learning the raids and trying do actually deserve this ultimate reward.

Other options are vaiable like aformentioned massive increase in ILVL, but this is my (hopeful I know) toughts on it.

It would be nice if it was meant to be used on "old" legendaries, like Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury and so.

It would be nice to get one of them out of my bank, and would remove the "vanish item-like" from those equipament.

The quest that rewards you with this item is Breath of the Black Prince, which is the final quest of the series to obtain this item.

• First off, Wrathion now has his own reputation: The Black Prince.
• You'll have to hit honored with it for Trial of the Black Prince, and you increase reputation by killing any raid creatures as well as level 90 mogu and mantid in Townlong Steppes and Dread Wastes.

• A later quest sends you into raids: The Strength of One's Foes. Here you'll loot 10 Sigil of Power and Sigil of Wisdom.

• For Fear Itself, you will need to kill the final boss in Terrace of Endless Spring. You will be rewarded with Chimera of Fear.

• It's known that 5.1 will bring new additions to Pandaria, such as a fortress on the coast of Krasarang Wilds. The description for Incoming... says that the quest will continue in 5.1, when the naval fleet lands. A lot of people have wondered how Pandaria will tie into existing storylines on Azeroth, so this is a cool solution.

• Breath of the Black Prince appears to be the final quest in the series, rewarding you with Breath of the Black Prince, which augments equipment and has an ilvl of 513.

I think it should applies to all weapons in wow. Let players customized their own weapon choice. Looking forward to use the ICC bow for MOP raid or perhaps tunderfury will be nice. I won't mind to spend months to obtain it.

Note that it does remove any gems or enchantments, so the item(s) that the Breath empowers must be something you obtain either throughout the questline or some kind of weapon that drops off of some kind of negative Sha.

Really makes me wonder... What new weapon or enchantment awaits us in Mists of Pandaria? Only thing certain is that it will be revealed in 5.1 when the fleet lands, and the quest chain is completed.

I think I deciphered how this works.

The several items we see on the front page are not actually the final legendaries at all.

A whole guild will have to progress its players into several items and then combine the items of several people into one super-item.

That way for example, you'll need 8 players to combine their collected "partial legendaries" to create one super-legendary.

Advantages:

1. It rewards stable and reliable guilds.

2. It rewards hard core guilds because they get more items and they are more stable teams

3. It reduces risk of quits because the quest items can be bulk given to one person so if one of the 8 people goes off, then an 9th may be able to fill in easily.

there was speculation about why legendaries cannot be used for transmogrification, i see this as a possible reason why, perhaps this can be applied to any legendary, bringing it up to iLevel 513, as each class has been temporarily "OP" when they had access to a legendary, this would balance it generate more interest in old content.

I very much hope this is correct, would be awesome to see a few ashbringers walking around!

It will possibly used on weapons which have the flavor text "Sha-touched", like Claws of Shek'zeer in order to upgrade them to legendary quality (513 item level;), but removing any enchants and gems in the process.

If there is a quest line added to have an item become Sha touched, this would allow the current legendary weapons to become usable at the cap. Which would translate into a legendary for every class.

Hopefully this will allow you to remove the legendary gem and whatever enchant is on it, so you can use both on an upgraded Sha weapon. Otherwise people are going to sit around with the legendary gem in their bank/bags waiting for the heroic versions.

Just to provide a quick update, that in the dev reddit interview, or maybe it was one of GC's tweets (He's been a talkative birdie the past few days). It was mentioned that everyone can progress on the quest at the same time to avoid drama and such. That could mean (without getting my hopes up) that we can all loot the sigil off bosses.

However it wasn't working like that on beta so we definitely have to wait and see. Unless it's something being pushed only on live. Like I said we definitely have to wait and see but if that post is any indication there is a definite possibility that we will be able to progress all our raid characters through the quest at the same time.

On a side note it was also said that they want everyone to be able to experience a legendary quest-chain and that only when you get the actual legendary will it be more unique and much harder to get. The quest chains leading up (if it's going by the achievements it should be 5.0 5.1 and 5.2 will be accessible easily to everyone and then 5.3 would be the actual legendary) would be a nice way or everyone to finally experience a legendary quest-line.

I have always wondered about blizzard and it's viewpoints colliding. Legendaries are supposed to be LEGENDARY (which they haven't made any really super rare ones recently) and not making content for just a VERY small portion of the community to see.

If I am correct in this statement then MoP would be letting everyone see the legendary content without getting a legendary neccesarily. Which fulfills both colliding viewpoints blizzard has offered. Overall I am excited to finally be a part of a legendary quest chain without the drama and such, and maybe just maybe by the end of the expansion I will have my shot at a legendary for once.

Just a thought on how Blizz could manage about the LFR weapon into legendary issue:

All LFR weapons should've been upgraded twice (2/2) in order use this charm.
All Normal weapons should've been upgraded at least once(1/2) in order to use this charm.
And finally HC weapons do not need to be upgraded for using this item.

On top of this it would be nice if Blizz came up with something like 492 legendary for LFR weapons, 505 for Normal legendary and 513 for HC legendary.

The final Legendary will be a Gem of your choice giving you +500 of your chosen stat, the Gem choices are as follows:

Agility - Crystallized Dread

Strength - Crystallized Terror

Intellect - Crystallized Horror

Each Gem is a Reward Choice from the quest Breath of the Black Prince in which upon completion will also give you:

118,000 experience

75 reputation with The Black Prince

and the Achievement Chapter I: Trial of the Black Prince

Pure speculation to 5.4 legendary quest items and their uses, as well as the motive behind it all. beware spoilers!
This is a compilation of my guild and the most logical information we have come up to as to the raid in 5.4:

With the escalation of 5.2 and 5.3 with Garrosh becoming ever so "Prideful" as well as the willingness to use the sha to his advantage, we are under belief that he is under the influence of the Sha of Pride(multi-phase fight possibly ending with the sha itself, leaving Garrosh).

With the 600 ilvl cloaks from the legendary 5.3 quest chain, it is safe to assume, after upgrading, that the ilvl will be 608 and still be useful into heroic progression<possibly> I doubt a change from 496(normal t14) to 522(normal t15) we will see an 86 ilvl increase instead of a 20-30.

That being said, The cloaks *should* still be usable for endgame. With the new sha being a part of the raid, we are likely to see sha touched items again, including a shield or two this time around. Allowing for the prismatic socket, and the sha touched gems to be used again, as well as the meta from 5.2's chain, letting us use every available item so far in a clash of the titans so to speak.

Lastly, what is the legendary for this patch? well...remember the data mining from when 5.1 came out? I know i do!

shows that each item can have a legendary "upgrade" If those were to be sha-weapons/shields, it would make sense that the last portion of the chain actually increases your sha-items iLvL and makes it orange quality with an enhanced ability.

Those are my thoughts on it, what do you guys think?
