First time I did this he disappeared whilst reading Quest text and never showed up again. Abandon quest, fly back to Elysian Hold and take it again. Then fly back, handing in quickly and accepting next quickly meant the next phase started without issue.

Unfortunately you only have about 5-10 seconds after landing and then he despawns again.

If that happens just abort the quest and go back and accept it again and don't go afk when flying.

As of 10/23/20 you need to be level 53 to obtain this quest and continue the campaign.

I found myself unable to move after landing from the bird. A relog fixed that. NPC didn't disappear or anything, must have been fixed as of Live release.

If you cant move after you land Relog.

I couldn't move, was pacified and did an arena scrim to regain control of my character. Relogging didn't help.

I present The Temple of Courage part of The Path to Ascension Storyline Quest Chain in Bastion. I split this story line for 2 parts.

Quest Name:	Start and description
1 Steward at Work	Use Summon Steward to fix the Beacon of Invocation 53.2 46.8 then press on in to activate. to finish quest go to 52.8 45.7 to On Swift Wings just wait for him xD.
2 On Swift Wings	Speak with On Swift Wings They will take you to next location. Go to 55.8 42.5 to finish quest.
3 Kyrestia, the Firstborne	Speak with Polemarch Adrestes will be a movie.
4 The Wards of Bastion	Go to 53.9 77.2 and check all Wards by pressing on them. move back after you will done.
5 Imminent Danger	You need lvl 53 to start this quest. Speak with Cassius to take you to the Temple of Courage during fly will be a movie.
6 Now or Never	Speak with Thanikos and kill all mobs coming out.
7 Rip and Tear	kill mobs untill 100%. You can do this quest together with Stay Scrappy and Fight Another Day
8 Stay Scrappy	You need to collect Anima Conflux 40.8 52.3 Archonic Resonator 39.5 49 Eternity Plating 39.7 52.6
9 Fight Another Day	Freed 6 Disciple of Courage from cages you dont need key.
10 Clear as Crystal	Drain Necrotic Extractors to empower the Anima Conflux. Just press on Necrotic Extractor - large purple crystals to charge to maximum. You can do this quest together with Double Tap
11 Double Tap	Fill mobs and use on their bodies Archonic Resonator you need 12. then move to 39.7 55.2 to finish bout quests.
12 The Final Countdown	First kill Marrowmaw then jump on Centurion Colossus and use skill 2.
13 A Time for Courage	Speak with Thanikos they will take you to new location. Will be a Video then you need to defeat Thanikos Spinerender after few sec Disciple Apolon will come just jomp on him and you will run away.

This made no sense to me. These Maldraxxi attacked (they are Forsaken/Scourge lookalikes) and you have no idea who the Maldraxxi are! It turns out they're one of the Shadowlands factions They haven't been introduced are even mentioned at this point (as far as I can remember).

The whole thing was very confusing to me. I'm finding a lot of quests/storylines like this in this xpac, it's really looking rushed.

Probably too late for you if you're reading this but if you're doing a rested alt and just doing the main story quests you'll likely be just short of 53 when this is next in the chain.

Recommend doing the Garden of Respite questline which you'll have passed on the way to Hero's Rest. Gives you about 1/3 of a level which'll give you enough to be eligible to continue when you finish at Elysian Hold.

Pelagos: The Forsworn who destroyed the ward... he was the one from Lysonia's memories...
Kleia: It seemed that their pact with the Maw was kept secret from him. I wonder... are the other Forsworn also unaware of it?
Pelagos: If that is the case, then perhaps -- By the Archon... Kleia, look!

- pan to Temple of Courage -

Lysonia: The ward has been sabotaged, as we agreed.
Helya: Good. Our allies are eager to strike.
Mawsworn Champion: The kyrian temples will fall, and the Archon's reign shall be ended!

- Maldraxxi kaboom -

Thanikos: I am glad to see I am not yet alone. The Maldraxxi attacked without warning!

Description

The Temple of Courage must not fall! All kyrian learn to fight in its hallowed halls. Not only to protect Bastion, but to ensure their own safety when retrieving souls from across the veil. Travel there at once. Seek out Thanikos, the Paragon of Courage's loyal hand.
