Players that don't normally play with Sound on should turn it on for this quest. Garona has a few voice lines that don't show up as text. Nothing very important, but it's still neat nonetheless.

Also, when chasing Garona, don't forget that you can hit her as she runs away. As a Warrior, I was able to slow her with Hamstring and knock her back with Dragon Roar. She maintains her health when you corner her.

It's interesting seeing that he refuses a priest. I read recently something in lore forums about khadgar being corrupted or possessed by another entity, maybe this is related after all.

Make sure you follow the quest directions, if you go to Garona immediately and kill her you wont get credit for the other objectives and you will have to abandon and repeat to finish it correctly. Also the quest phases you in Zangarra so if you hearth and come back you wont be able to use the portals to get down from the flight path.

When you first start the quest, unless you have something to slow your fall or erase fall damage, do not run right off the edge next to Khadgar's tower. You will plummet to the ground and die, and the corpserun is painfully long. Take the path down, trust me :)

When you see Garona run off, don't attack her, follow her. Whilst she runs away, she drops little pools of felfire or poison (they appear as little green pools of poison), just follow her trail. These pools do have a certain lifespan, so if you don't see them, abandon the quest and start again, they will appear again.

Only attack Garona after you have 'Cornered Garona' in the cave.

I was in a hurry to get through the box to remove the poison effect and didn't get to read it, figuring it would be on wowhead. For those of you like me (who missed it) and don't feel like watching youtube videos to find it... replace rogue with your own UnitClass.

Warning, If you are a duel-spec class such as a tank or healer. You will probably have switched to your DPS spec to defeat Garona. Remember to switch back to your main spec before handing in the final quest to upgrade your ring. Otherwise you have made the 1500 Gold mistake I did. You get the wrong ring and have to pay to get the correct one.

Surprised nobody mentioned this. As a 646 (well now with the ring 647!) LFR geared combat rogue, I was having problems with this encounter. Twice I tried to take down Garona annnnnnnd splat I died. Ugh...going on attempt three. There has got to be something I can use or I'm just not doing.
I started looking in my bags and low and behold I was thankful the pack rat in me actually had a few Shieldtronic Shields. On my third attempt I sapped her waited for my energy to get to full, popped the shieldtronic shield and let loose. Third time was the charm and down she went.

Other things to remember.

Stay out of the fire! She does a charge where she runs away and leaves a trail of fel fire.
Stay out of the AOE (if you can) She likes to split into multiple copies and Fan of Knives the area. Not fun.
RECUPERATE! Even though I mentioned the shield...this can still help with getting your health back up.
Don't forget your other cooldowns! Yeah this may seem like a "DUH" type thing...but I forgot to pop combat rediness, and who knows how much less she would have done if I had popped evasion and smoke bombs.

I've also read that you can pre-pot the Shieldtronic Shield, so if you have a Healthstone or Health Potion in you bags, keep that in mind before you engage Garona.

Good Luck...now onto...900...elemental runes?

Oh hell, I should have just let her kill me.

EDIT: and this is why you read the fine print folks. its 300 per elemental rune. Thanks Sallara. Apparently I didn't realize how much MORE pain and suffering awaits me. :-/

Don't forget that you can use your outpost power (artillery/mage orb) during the fight. Also, bring a bodyguard if you're the type who don't really use them.

When I picked up this quest, I was 674 at the time and had resurrection sickness due to be being impatient when the horde attacked and killed me at Khadgar's tower . Following her down to the bottom of the cliffs, I also made the mistake of dropping all my cooldowns attacking her when I first saw her in the water at the bottom of the cliffs. Don't do that. She just takes off. Wait to follow her to the cave before blowing all your cooldowns. With rez sickness and low health and no cooldowns she finished me off quickly.

Coming back at full health 12 mins later and after making a visit to my garrison, instead of porting to khadgar's tower from the flight path (the quest phases and you can't use the portal if you have to go back to your garrison during the quest for whatever reason) I used a Goblin Glider Kit to fly down to the bottom of the cliffs. The green blobby trail was still there leading to where you first see her. She wasn't there, but you hear her whispering to you en route. I backtracked the green blobs and found myself climbing up to Khadgar's Tower again. Oops. I followed the blobs back down the cliff, and at the bottom of the cliff, made a left. The cave was there and Garona was waiting for me. At full health and all my cooldowns popped, I downed her quickly and ran back up to the tower to turn in the quest. The green blobs go away but finding your way back is not hard. Just make a right out of the cave to find the path up. You will aggro some pests on the way up but you can outrun them. Then you're all set for five minutes of quick quests and phases and you get your ring.

I'm not the brightest person in the world when it comes to this game, but hopefully you don't repeat my experience. Garona simply won't respect you if you have to come back. :-)

Just some extra info. Take your bodyguard for a easier time of it. When you see the pools on the ground move over them to find the trail. At the bottom of the hill, follow them to the right. Looking to your right Garona will be on a small hill, do not attack. Follow Garona to the cave, the entrance to the cave is at 84.21 28.22. Defeat and trap her. It is important that you do each step.

If you skip a step, you will not complete the quest and you will be unable to turn in.

Unfortunately, this is a very buggy quest. You would think it would be of higher quality given that it is a "legendary" quest. After you "Find Garona's trail" by following the green splotches, you must follow it. The trail will lead you to James Lamone, who gives you a hint that she has gone down the cliff. If you go left past the mushrooms and jump down the cliff there, you will lose the trail and not be able to complete "Track Garona Down" unless you abandon and start over.

Make sure you take a slight right turn from James Lamone and pass through one more green patch, which after a small jump down leads to a narrow path around and gradually down to the broader path. From here the path is fairly easy to follow. The quest forces you to take this long winding path while she taunts you. You can't just go to her cave (which is marked in your map if you have quest objectives on), and you seem to have to go through the splotches in the intended order. There is no way to catch up to the path later if you don't go down the correct trail.

Don't fight Garona until the tracking objective is complete. At the end of the trail, she will pop out, stun you, and run away again. At this point, you should backtrack all the way to the cave you passed earlier to "Corner Garona". Now you can fight her and complete the quest.

If you do have to abandon the quest, wait until you get back to Cordana, as this will respawn all the creatures in the area. They are low level but may slow you down when you are already frustrated at having to redo the quest.

Part 5 of the quest...... TALK to her to use the rune on her. I sat there dumbfounded as to where the quest item was the capture her..... It was only when I saw a speaking ability when I hovered over her that I realized this...... SIGH

When you have her subdued and are going to use the rune on her, try talking to her. While it doesn't show-up in the in-game text, Garona actually tells you to "get bent".
