Related Achievement Over Their Heads (similar to Death From Above).
There are 3 different bosses avaible per day for that achievement, if you have exalted status with Klaxxi and want to farm it, just keep the Quest uncompleted so you can fly everyday looking for them, best you do this in a raidgroup so that you do not accidently complete it.

Don't wait for Paralyzing Serum to be off cooldown to fire your Venom Bomb... although you 1-shot the mobs when you hit them with both, two shots of Venom Bomb will kill the quest mobs as well.

If, for some reason, you also have Rampage Against the Machine in your log, kills doing the Bombing Run, or from riding Kovok both count for both quests. It seems to be quite faster to get the kills while doing the bombing run, though it'll be relatively uncommon to have both quests in your log at the same time, if you're doing every offered daily each day.

Be sure to pause recount before doing this quest. It's been the cause of my game locking up and ultimately crashing up until I thought to go through my addons.

While this quest DOES give group credit for the bombing, even taking off at the same time can result in both of you taking very different flight paths and since credit range isn't massive you end up doing the majority of it on your own. Still an easy quest just a bit different from the norm where you all follow a set route.

I can't help but notice that Xaril, as a disgusting cockroach, has two extra arms, with which he could throw the poison himself, even assuming he wants to carry someone along for company.

Duhhhh . . . don't do what I did. He seemed to be taking his own sweet time about heading back, so I dismounted. I think I was having some drug-induced fantasy about the mobs having been phased as in similar quests.

No. No, they're not. You don't parachute, you fall. And although I did some serious damage to the poor bastard I landed on, he called aaalllll his friends to help. LoH and my Guardian were useless.

That's 60 gp in repair I'll never see again . . . (I level my pets during rez sickness, so it's not a total waste of time.)

Don't fool with the paralyzing stuff - the poison kills 'em just fine by itself. I got my 200 kills in under 60 sec. with poison only. Maybe it kills the big dudes a bit faster, but not that much difference....

In order to complete Dark Skies quest:

Speak with Xaril the Poisoned Mind to begin Dark Skies quest.
Using Venom Bomb and Paralyzing Serum:
Kill any 200 Mantid (Krik'thik Wingguard, Krik'thik Wingleader, Ik'thik Warrior, Ik'thik Slayer, Krik'thik Wingguard).
Kill any 3 Kunchong (Krik'thik Battletank, Ik'thik Kunchong, Dread Behemoth).
Use Return to Klaxxi'vess spell and wait unti you return to Xaril the Poisoned Mind.
Speak with Xaril the Poisoned Mind again and return Dark Skies quest.

how to start the Quest?
I am exalted with them,
I can see Xaril (without any Quest mark)

I also did the rest of the dailies hoping to enable his "dark skies" quest but nothing :(

Finally got the quest today. Waited 2 weeks to get the quest. Not sure why it took so long to show. I am exalted and have been for years and just came back to get the achievement. I reported as a bug and the next day the quest was there. Now I know if it had been a bug there is no way they fixed it just for me overnight lol. If you get the quest don't complete it. Use it to kill everything on the achievement "Over Their Heads". Come back everyday until new mobs on the list show up. I was careful not to kill to many.

i have this quest and nothing is on the toolbar while flying around - this is infuriating - any ideas?

This quest was showing up daily for me for about a week - and then has gone on a week lull - not sure how to trigger it again or if it's just RNG. One note about the quest itself - I was freaking out bombing everything worried about hitting the specific targets for the achievement - but they are really quite large and obvious, and so I have learned to slow it down and take time to check the 3 unique mobs that show up on that given day.

Now if only the quest would trigger again so I can finish it off!

If you are doing the quest to get the achievement - I understand that in 2023 it is like this - when you get the quest, you don't have to complete it. You have to kill the achievement targets, and THEN complete the quest and turn it in.

Description

The swarm begins, Wakener! The mantid amass at the Heart of Fear.

Already they fill the skies with their wings and rend the earth with their claws. They shall not stop the dark march until their bodies are laid open and bleeding upon the ground.

This we shall gladly do. We will attack them from above. While I fly, use my poisons to destroy their advance.

Do not mix the two serums until you are ready to attack. The reaction can be quite... violent.

Speak to me when you are ready to go.
