I was experiencing a different problem. After killing the guard NPC, Ban Bearheart did not display a question completion icon and the only dialogue he would express was "I can't believe we had to kill a guard...". Today on 6/3 after the last patch I logged in to find myself in the same state so I abandoned the quest and picked it up again, killing the guard on the steps of the dungeon. This time Ban completed the quest for me and I gained access to the instance.

Was bugged for me as well initially, but dismissing my pet and redoing the quest solved the issue.

I just did it, and had the above issues. I had to dismiss my pet before talking to the guard. Once I did it this (I even had rez sickness), Ban had the "?" over his head to complete the quest.

Ban wasn't let me deliver the quest, after a few tries i decided to let my auto attack alone (as a moonkin) kill the guard, after that i could complete the quest. (not sure if it was because i killed it too fast or luck)

The bug seems to be caused by Ban summoning his earth bind totem, which is listed as your pet. If you kill it before he places the totem, then it will be fine. I'm not sure if it's simply the totem existing, or the pulsing of it that causes it to not flag the change for Ban though.

If you have completed the Shadow-Pan Monastery instance through the LFG tool, there will be no follow-up to this quest after you turn it in to Ban.

After killing the guard for this quest I saw Ban with a completed quest icon over his head...then he disappeared. I couldn't find him. I decided it was a phasing thing so I tried getting into the Monastery (through the instance entrance). And that fixed it. It wouldn't let me get in the instance...as soon as it loaded back up he was next to me.

So if you're having issues with it...try that.

Swapping specs to get the reward for my main spec made the NPC disappear. Zoning in and out of the instance fixed it.

Finishing this quest will unlock the "The Shado-Pan" criteria of Slum It in the Summit Achievement.

I wasn't able to start part of this quest line as the "breadcrumb" bit didn't show up in the Loremaster add-on.

However I stubbornly flew around until I found a "!" at 44.49 89.92 (Shado-Master Chung).

That gave me the "To Winters Blossom" quest and I finished in a few minutes.

To start this questline go to Shado-Master Chong at Shado-Pan Fallback. You will need to finish 3 quests before he gives you the quest To Winter's Blossom. At Winter's Blossom you will need to finish a number of quests near the wall before Ban Bearheart offers to bring you up to the Shado-Pan Monastary. Once there you can pick up the quest Unbelievable! which is the final questline you need in order to finish The Shado-Pan for the Slum it in the Summit achievement.

If you already started the Winters blossom area and can't find any more quests, check in the top of the tower at /way 29 61 .
Talk to the NPC to fly you back and a new quest will open up to ride the barrels into catapults at the gate.
