A copy of the final Dalaran Children's Week quest, Oracle side, rewarding the Curmudgeon's Payoff... *edit* and now it lists 25 Magical Pet Biscuits as an alternative choice. I don't think I'll ever get that payoff *sniff*

I guess you would receive this quest if you already have the Curious Oracle Hatchling but choose to repeat Roo's questline instead of Kekek's*. As of the upcoming Children's Week 2012, some people will already have both companions from doing the questlines in 2010 (irregular first Northrend Children's Week) and 2011, so we might see this quest (or the Wolvar one, respectively)

* Yes, for the historical record, I first assumed you needed both companions, but if you think about it, the choice is already made when you reach this point in the questline, so it would only require to have the Oracle Hatchling, while the status of the Wolvar Pup doesn't matter.

I have the Wolvar Pup from last year so I chose the Oracle's this year. Didn't receive a pet or a payoff.

I received the oracle pet in mail after completing the quest.

Note that it might take a couple of seconds/minutes before the mail arrives in your mailbox, don't freak out.

This is a quest that never appears in your log. Since the "ordinary" quests are repeated each year, this blocks receiving the same pet twice. Or I'm pretty sure it does.

This is the version of the final quest if you did Back To The Orphanage for Curious Oracle Hatchling in a previous year.

If you have the Wolvar or the Oracle cause you have it from an alt from years ago (before the Battle pets were implemented) and its BLUE (rare), the game wont detect it, preventing you to choose the Care Package and you will receive another copy of the pet but a GREEN (uncommon) version. BEWARE.
Just do the quest on that alt, get a green one, and if you have more alts you will be able to choose the reward.

I did a ticket for this and figured it out with 2 gm after several screenshots and stuff.

Save yourself from trouble :D

EDIT: Did the quests again.. didnt get the option to get the Bag, so..

TL;DR: If youre after bags, stay out of Dalaran :(

Some clarification on all the different "Back to the Orphanage" quests:

Oracle Orphan

Back To The Orphanage - If you have never received a Curious Oracle Hatchling in the mail on that character before you will get this quest which rewards a Curious Oracle Hatchling in the mail a few minutes after the quest is turned in.

Back To The Orphanage - If you've received a Curious Oracle Hatchling in the mail from a previous year on that character you will get this quest which rewards a Pet Care Package.

Here's a macro you can run to determine if you've completed the Oracle quest on that character in a previous year:

/run print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(13959))

Wolvar Orphan

Back To The Orphanage - If you have never received a Curious Wolvar Pup in the mail on that character before you will get this quest which rewards a Curious Wolvar Pup in the mail a few minutes after the quest is turned in.

Back To The Orphanage - If you've received a Curious Wolvar Pup in the mail from a previous year on that character you will get this quest which rewards a Pet Care Package.

Here's a macro you can run to determine if you've completed the Wolvar quest on that character in a previous year:

After reading all of the fuss from previous years, I worried that I would not be able to get the rare stones I'm after, on all my alts. First char I ran through the orphan quest chains, hadn't done them previously, and was able to acquire the Pet Care Package as a reward (not sure if relevant, I've already obtained both pets on my main from previous years).

TL;DR - Fixed, working as intended ^^

Return your ward to the Dalaran orphanage by handing in the Oracle Orphan Whistle to Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran.

Description

We had the best time with you, <name>. We wish you could be our <daddy/mama> now, but you have to take us back to Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran.

Maybe you could come visit us again sometime? We loved meeting Winterfin hatchlings and getting to see the dragon queen. No one will believe us when we say we met a Great One!
