According from Wowwiki, Garrosh Hellscream appears during the quest. He is angered by Krom'gar's unhonorable act bombarding innocent people below. Garrosh will punish Krom'gar by dismantling his army, relieving him from his duties, and dismisses him (Grabs and throws him off the ledge).

Garrosh will in this quest show a new and unexpected side of himself, just like Varian Wrynn does after alliance kill Deathbringer Saurfang. This quest, like that event, changed my opinion on the factionleader from very bad to not that bad after all.
I fear however that any of Saurfangs actions will ever be know to the alliance, and thus be weak lorewise.

When I heard that Garrosh was replacing Thrall as Warchief, I was appalled. I said to my guildies that there was no way in hell I'd ever accept Garrosh as Warchief. Today I decided to take my main to Stonetalon because I heard the quests there were pretty amazing, and I got to this quest. And after it, I thought this:

"Long live the Warchief."

Only the most stubborn supporter of Thrall will be able to come away from this quest without a newfound respect for Garrosh. Do the Stonetalon chain just to get to this one, it's worth it.

(Spoilers for those who haven't completed the questline!)
@Golbeza,no Garrosh says clearly his command wasn't too kill innocents,the overlord has his general commit treason (killing the high cheiftan's son and having him general kill his wife),and on top of that the general assaulted the cheiftan...garrosh threw him off the bridge (or whatever you want too call it because) 1. The overlord killed several innocents on top of nuking a entire NEUTRAL druid sanctuary,even garrosh knew they were no threat. 2. The overlord commanded his general too kill his the high cheiftan's son and he also killed his wife,and they burned his entire home too the ground. 3. He went against garrosh's command AND committed treason and burned down the high cheiftan's home...
The overlord got what he deserved,and once again garrosh clearly states it was never his command too kill innocents OR nuke the entire neutral druid sanctuary.

So, I made my first Horde toon (troll druid), always been partial to the Alliance, and after completing this zone and ending it with this quest all I have to say is Amazing job Blizzard. Stonetalon is actually fun and I have gained a new found respect for Garrosh Hellscream. When leveling a new toon do not skip this zone. Great job.

From a Purely RP stand point:

Honestly, before i did this quest i didn't like Garrosh, not because he was ugly, not because his head is smaller than the standard orc head, But because i was loyal to thrall and didn't want him replaced. I did question thralls motives behind putting garrosh in power, but after doing this quest....I think he will make a Great Warchief, rivaling thrall even. Honestly i would love to see garrosh fight Varian...as i know garrosh would love to fight that human.

THATS WHAT WE NEED! a quest where we watch our faction leader fight the opposite faction leader in the argent tournament.

Garrosh have done what needed to be done. Maybe everyone is just surprised he didn't act like a total jerk, as he usually does.

Feel free to downrate me, but I find it a bit disappointing how people in comments suddenly start to see Garrosh as their new true leader and Warchief, rivaling Thrall etc etc after he just punishes a general who disobeyed orders and acted wrong.

How does this compare Garrosh to Thrall after everything Thrall have come through and everything he have done for the Horde? Maybe you didn't play Warcraft III campaign.

I guess Blizzard lore designers at some point realized that Garrosh was too full of fail so far, and decided to kinda ease up on him, he's a new Warchief after all.

I miss Thrall, I think he represented the Horde unlike anyone else, he knew what it is To Be Horde and he was the Horde.

Besides Garrosh's unexpected change of heart, this quest -- more specifically, quest line -- centered around The Bomb is actually quite fascinating.

As a Goblin character in Kezan, you had to do the quest Waltz Right In for Slinky Sharpshiv. In it, you had to steal Trade Prince Gallywix's prized possessions with the hopes of reselling them and making big moolah. The 3 possessions were Maldy's Falcon, The Goblin Lisa and... The Ultimate Bomb? Hold on a second... a super secret bomb being worked on by Hobart Grapplehammer? That sounds awfully familiar.

Further down the line while in Azshara, you have to deliver an unstable Azsharite Core from Hobart's Secret Lab to his assistant, Greely, in the quest Segmentation Fault: Core Dumped. Being the decent Goblin he is, Dr. Grapplehammer manages to weaponize the unstable core and then gives you the task of delivering it to Bilgewater Harbor in the quest A Hello to Arms. Assuming Hobart is trying to finish his work from Kezan, the Armed Azsharite Core is the continuation of his "Ultimate Bomb".

Lo and behold, after a pit stop in Ashenvale, failed interventions from the Alliance and a refueling session, this bomb is finally dropped over Thal'darah Grove in this very quest. So basically, Hobart Grapplehammer built a nuke out of Cliff Giant poop, sent it to an insane Overlord who then used it to destroy a grove full of innocent Druids. Oh, how I love Blizzard.

New Stonetalon Mountains will be my favourite zone from now on. All the quests linking up together,making you curious, doing all of them with ease, it was just epic.

When we look at the lore Thrall is and will be a bigger Warchief than Garrosh, but with this quest no Horde member will look at Garrosh the same way imo. Well done Blizz, you know your job.

One of the only starting quest chains for Trolls can be done by any horde race, and finishes with Vol'Jin talking with Thrall. In the conversation Vol'Jin not only expresses his doubts and concerns about Garrosh, but Thrall also tells him exactly why he chose Garrosh.

It really is worth going through those few lowbie quests to get a clearer picture of things from both Vol'Jin's and Thrall's perspective.

For the sake of getting to the point, below is a portion of the conversation where Thrall states his reasoning behind choosing Garrosh.

Vol'jin, I chose Garrosh because he has the strength to lead our people through these trying times.

For all my supposed wisdom, there have been moments that I've barely been able to hold the Horde together. The Wrath Gate and Undercity displayed that clearly.

The Horde cries for a hero of old. An orc of true blood that will bow to no human and bear no betrayal. A warrior that will make our people proud again. Garrosh can be that hero.

I did not make this decision lightly, Vol'jin. I know our alliances will suffer from it. I know the Horde will be irreversibly changed. But I made this choice with confidence that Garrosh is exactly what the Horde needs.

I'm trusting you and the other leaders to not let this divide our people. You are stronger than that.

Just played through the questline; honestly the first one in Cataclysm that brought a little flicker of emotion by the end for all the death and destruction wrought, especially on the tauren and the druids.

Couldn't care much for the Alliance along the way.

The previous line os quests in Playing With FelfireSplintertree, ending with an infuriated GarroshDread Head Redemption is loosely related, and it just added a bit more to the awesomeness :-)

By far my favorite quest chain... at least so far. I have gained newfound respect for Garrosh. I never DID like him but I didn't dislike him either. "Honor, no matter how dire the situation, must not be forsaken." Epic, just epic.

I still prefer Thrall over this red Orc, but at least now I respect him.

Krom'gar releases the balloon holding the goblin bomb and sends it towards Thal'darah Grove. On arrival, the balloon drops the bomb directly on it, obliterating the entire area, leaving a large crater behind.

Overlord Krom'gar says:

Look upon the world, Cliffwalker, and see the might of the Horde!

A portal from Orgrimmar suddenly forms nearby. Garrosh Hellscream and his guards emerge from the portal.

What have you done, Krom'gar?

Krom'gar bows before Garrosh.

Warchief! I... I was carrying out your command!

That quest is simply EPIC.
When I was on the quest I thought " Is being Horde really means that you kill your allies and burn their village, and after that you kill dozens of innocent people and destroy a greet tree older than we can imagine, leaving a big hole in it's place --- omg I'm gonna reroll alliance right now. But then Garrosh apperas and he tells what it truly means to be Horde and punishes Krom'gar -- what an incredible turning of events. I even started to like Garrosh a bit at this point.

Doing this quest as a lvl 85 resto druid was a truly frustrating experience, because I was in no way able to help High Chieftain Cliffwalker perform the regrowth ritual on the destroyed grove :( Would've been an awesome way to apologize for not stopping Krom'gar in time.

This quests concludes a quest chain of about 30 (!) quests.
At the end your reward is a cut scene with Garrosh Hellscream which sucks because Krom'Gar suddenly turns into a whiny little pussy.
And that's all.
Oh yeah, and ONE lousy rare item.
Not even an achievement or anything.

Garrosh stressed out at Krom'gar for blowing up a small village. He even killed him. But look at what Garrosh did to Theramore. He blew up innocents. He should throw himself of Thunder Bluff. :P

I look back at this quest and I used to think, "If Blizzard went out of their way to show that love him or hate him, Garrosh could be a great Warchief, why the hell did they turn him into the ultimate bad guy in Mists of Pandaria?" But now, as I look back over all the patches, I realise that the entire thing was a) a pandaren hero-worship fest, b) a complete waste of everything interesting Blizzard set up over the last 3-4 patches (not sure about 4.3, because they gave us a @#$%^ing ending to a slow climb to the top of the heap) and c) something Blizzard really wanted to do after two separate expansions that gave WoW a hard-nosed edge to it.

Well, whatever. Nothing I can do about it now. Besides, they'll keep drawing me back to the wiki to check out the story of future expansions because, as we say, my curiosity will be the death of me.

Did "old" Stonetalon before Cata, but didn't get around to the "new" one until the end of WoD.

As much as I wanted to find even the tiniest smidge of respect for THIS Garrosh...I couldn't even look at him.

Not because of what he'd done, but because of what had been done to him. Yeah he was an ass, but there was so much potential to at least be respectable before he was spiked with the villain ball.

I like how everyone calls Hellscream a hypocrite because, apparently, a school of innocent druids where even tauren resided, thus a purely civilian target, is the same as a city-state that declared itself neutral for years and yet sent its Northwatch Expeditionary Force to join the fray, going as far as to gain a foothold in Durotar itself, ally with the exiled Grimtotem tauren of Stonetalon to fight the Horde, and even build a whole road connecting Theramore to the Southern Barrens in order to support the Alliance's invasion upon the region, in which they also built a fort and a forward camp.

I'm starting to think I am the only person on this planet who thinks Garrosh's display was a ploy. He clearly sent Krom'gar to conquer this area for the Horde at all cost...meaning kill, destroy and annihilate.

Didn't anyone else the whole time watching it think "oh you nasty pasty" when he threw Krom'gar over the ledge as if he was some Al Capone mobster who orchestrated the whole thing the entire time?
Seemed so clear to me that was what he was doing.

After this quest, the lifts break, at least as of this patch. You can see them outside of the phased area, but inside of it, they disappear.

...so don't jump off the cliff like I did, you'll have to run to a different flight master. :|

Seriously annoyed with this quest. I quested all the way through STM to get to this point, and that oh so glorious ending, and.....wait for it.... Garrosh DOES NOT drop Krom'gar off the Lift anymore. Krom'gar just sat there cowering, while I sat there seething. Either it's a bug, or Blizzard is going all PG.

Yeah... this quest is pretty bugged. I abandoned it twice and the third time it worked. First time, I went afk then came back and they were just sitting there. The second time, the evil orc just stood there and Garrosh never showed up. Third time it went through. Kinda sucks cause it's a long dialogue

I must've done this quest 20 times these last 10 years, possibly more than 20, I just did it again, I can't explain this but my eyes always tear up, this is such a strong quest, a glimpse of what Garrosh could've been
